We had a nice stay at the hotel however there was a complete demolition of the front areas where the reception was and a restaurant was. The construction started around 8:45am until 6:30pm daily, making it difficult to sleep in, rest during the day, while on our vacation and do some remote work. We were very surprised this was not mentioned at the time of booking, nor prior to our arrival or at check in. We were also very surprised there was any construction even allowed during this week…dia de Los muertos is an 8 days celebration in Oaxaca that we were specifically there for and of course the hotel prices reflected that too. We mentioned our disappointment and questioned the reasoning mid-stay to the hotel manager and the. submitted a complaint directly to hotels.com. Only hotels.com actually did something for us, the hotel never responded to us or offered any compensation or refund. The hotel still has not responded to Hotels.com requests. We are disappointed the construction happened the first 5 days we were there…including both Saturday and Sunday. Other than the construction, everything else about this hotel was good, especially the location.

The hotel is nice but I found it expensive for what it is and breakfast was not included. The restaurant had just opened, so the NYE party was very disorganized and expensive. We listened to Christmas songs even though I requested to change the music. The playlist repeated at least 4 times.

This hotel is located in the main part of the city. It’s close to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. Staff were always very friendly and helpful. Definitely staying here when I visit the city again. The hotel also has a roof top restaurant with a view perfect for a late night drink. Highly recommend this hotel.

Nice place, clean rooms, hot water, nice patio, feels safe, overall great stay. Only annoyance was the nearby cathedrals early morning bells! :)

Sparce but comfortable for our first night in Oaxaca. The rooftop restaurant wasn’t open but it was a Monday when we stayed. Very walkable and friendly staff. Hot water was welcome in the shower.

The staff were very accommodating. The room were clean. The restaurant 'Raices' was able to accommodate a small request. The food and presentation was outstanding. This is a very quiet street that feeds into Zócalo about 10 minutes walk away.

Todo bien, muy limpio y acogedor, solo que en mi cuarto, en el baño se escuchaba todo el ruido de alguna remodelación o arreglo en la parte de arriba, y todas las pláticas de los trabajadores, parecieran que estaban en el mismo cuarto. Aparte que la presión del agua era muy mala, me tenía que duchar pegado a la pared porque no salía mucha agua.
Todo bien, muy limpio y acogedor, solo que en mi cuarto, en el baño se escuchaba todo el ruido de alguna remodelación o arreglo en la parte de arriba, y todas las pláticas de los trabajadores, parecieran que estaban en el mismo cuarto. Excellent week long stay during the celebrations for Dia des los Muertos. Perfect location for exploring the historic and colorful areas of Oaxaca...also the rooftop terrace was a wonderful place to watch the parades go by and also relax in the evening. Our room was large with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. All amenities were better than basic and we received daily waters and anything else we asked for like extra towels etc. The entire staff from housekeeping to front desk was wonderful and friendly and helpful. It was a joy to stay here and I would choose this Parador again in a heartbeat!

Lovely hotel, beautiful views of the mountains from the roof terrace. This area of Oaxaca is my favourite to stay in - walkable to the zócalo, Jalatlaco and Xochimilco, and the bus station but a quiet oasis to sleep! Recommend this hotel highly.

El hotel está localizado en el centro, muy cerca de Santo Domingo, Oaxaca es hermoso y la ubicación del hotel tiene 10. Sin embargo hubieron algunos inconvenientes, cuando llegamos no teñíamos toalla, aunque el recepcionista muy amablemente nos las dio. Nos dimos cuenta después que tampoco teníamos tapete de baño. Tampoco encontramos muchos enchufes para cargar el celular. Tuve que usar el del baño. La propiedad tiene un estilo colonial lo cual la hace muy bonita, sin embargo deberían remodelar para tener estos contactos o remodelar su rampa la cual está muy inclinada.

We stayed at El Parador Monte Carmelo for 4 nights. It was a great experience being walking distance to great restaurants and the main center plaza. The room was exceptional for the price. Everything was clean. Staff was friendly. I have already recommended this place to family and friends.

This hotel is located in a great area, it’s safe and quiet, very close to restaurants and cathedrals. The staff for the most part was good, except at check in, where the receptionist was a little bit rude to find my reservation. The room I had is good, except for the bathroom. The toilet and sink have very very low pressure, and that can be annoying. I hope they can fix this issue, but overall for the price and location the hotel is ok.

La ubicación del hotel es excelente, así como su limpieza. No obstante, se debería de mejorar en mucho el estado y diseño de los muebles de baño, pues al ser los retretes de diseños antiguos gastan demasiada agua, en las regaderas tarda MUCHO en llegar el agua caliente, originando su desperdicio, y el lavabo es de un tamaño de ¨kinder¨, provocando que salpique hacia todos lados. en cuanto a los jabones y champús, dejan mucho que desear su calidad.
La ubicación del hotel es excelente, así como su limpieza. There were only two small bedside lamps in the room, not enough light to read by. There was a large overhead chandelier that lit up the room, but not really conducive for reading. Only a desk chair and desk to sit on. Could use a side table and chair and better lighting to get a five star rating. Service was excellent.

It is a nice place, but it needs a bit of TLC. The bedroom was big, so was the bathroom but it needs tables or stands for personal items, not enough lights in the room either.

The large king sized bed was comfortable. There weren’t convenient outlets. Had to share one with my lamp, the coffee maker (had to put that on the floor as no table space) and my charger. Also not anywhere to place suitcase and had to use the floor. Nowhere to put clothes except to hang. Need another chair also. Coffee was terrible. Back room was quiet.

Our stay could be better if the room had air conditioning. The head of the bed was not attached and it moves. The fan was not enough to cool off due to humidity. The bathroom window was toward the patio it did had a not clear pattern paper but still visible.

We had a nice stay at the hotel however there was a complete demolition of the front areas where the reception was and a restaurant was. The construction started around 8:45am until 6:30pm daily, making it difficult to sleep in, rest during the day, while on our vacation and do some remote work. We were very surprised this was not mentioned at the time of booking, nor prior to our arrival or at check in. We were also very surprised there was any construction even allowed during this week…dia de Los muertos is an 8 days celebration in Oaxaca that we were specifically there for and of course the hotel prices reflected that too. We mentioned our disappointment and questioned the reasoning mid-stay to the hotel manager and the. submitted a complaint directly to hotels.com. Only hotels.com actually did something for us, the hotel never responded to us or offered any compensation or refund. The hotel still has not responded to Hotels.com requests. We are disappointed the construction happened the first 5 days we were there…including both Saturday and Sunday. Other than the construction, everything else about this hotel was good, especially the location.

Una persona en la recepción fue grosera, por más de que le explicábamos que solo éramos dos personas y que la tercera persona no ingresaría al hotel porque vivía en esa cd, no le importaba y no dejaba de hablarnos descortésmente, no quería guardar momentáneamente el equipo que en lo que llegaba la hora del check in y su actitud era de molestia todo el tiempo, nos hizo sentir súper incómodas y fuera de lugar, con ganas de cancelar hasta anticipadamente la reservación

We stayed at El Parador Monte Carmelo for 4 nights. It was a great experience being walking distance to great restaurants and the main center plaza. The room was exceptional for the price. Everything was clean. Staff was friendly. I have already recommended this place to family and friends.

Lovely hotel, beautiful views of the mountains from the roof terrace. This area of Oaxaca is my favourite to stay in - walkable to the zócalo, Jalatlaco and Xochimilco, and the bus station but a quiet oasis to sleep! Recommend this hotel highly.

The hotel is nice but I found it expensive for what it is and breakfast was not included. The restaurant had just opened, so the NYE party was very disorganized and expensive. We listened to Christmas songs even though I requested to change the music. The playlist repeated at least 4 times.

The large king sized bed was comfortable. There weren’t convenient outlets. Had to share one with my lamp, the coffee maker (had to put that on the floor as no table space) and my charger. Also not anywhere to place suitcase and had to use the floor. Nowhere to put clothes except to hang. Need another chair also. Coffee was terrible. Back room was quiet.

La tina del baño es bastante peligrosa por la posición en la que está colocada. Pedimos in cambio de habitación con regadera y el personal fue muy comprensivo. Tuve que pedir luz en las escaleras ya que al subir a la habitación no había barandal y el foco estaba fundido. La comida del restaurante estuvo extraordinaria.

This is a nice little hotel. It’s charming to look at and the location is excellent. Our room was large and comfortable. The room was also very clean and the housekeeping was excellent. The was good water pressure in the shower, plenty of hot water the toilet worked well. There were a couple of weird things. Only one of the bedside tables could be plugged in and the light bulb was red. Very moody. We could not figure out how the tv worked but it didn’t really matter because we couldn’t plug it and the fridge in at the same time. We chose fridge. The window of the room opened to the courtyard -which is only technically outside. However, it was mostly quiet. We were in 205, tucked away in the back and we got almost no street noise. We did hear the music from the Valentines Day celebrations at the restaurant but the rest of the nights were very quiet. We enjoyed our stay here. One warning though and not the fault of the hotel - when we booked we paid for all three nights on Expedia. When we got to the hotel they told us they had only been paid for the first night and that we had to pay the rest in person. This is stated in their info apparently but I did not notice until we were told. It’s not super obvious. Anyway, we couldn’t check in until we had paid so we essentially paid twice and had to get it back when we got home. Basically I would suggest maybe booking your first night with Expedia and calling the hotel to confirm your subsequent days.

Quiero empezar por aclarar que las personas de recepción son muy serviciales y son muy amables, son lo mejor del hotel, pero las habitaciones se sienten económicas, el cuarto tenia mucho polvo, se le perdieron mi esposa 2000 pesos que dejo en el cuarto y unos audífonos, el agua del lavabo tenia un olor desagradable y es incomodo cargar la llave cuando esta en un llavero grande. Por otra parte esta. muy bien ubicado y se llega caminando a todos lados.
