Novotel Kolkata Hotel and Residences

This was not our first trip to the Novotel. As a family of 5 we are looking for amenities, convenience, cleanliness, and value. And I must say that Novotel is 5 stars in all o these categories. I especially appreciate the friendliness of the staff. There is not a hotel in the world in this price range, in my humble experience, that can compare with Novotel Kolkata. We will definitely stay again.

Great property with excellent amenities and wonderful service. Breakfast had lot of options and all staff members courteous.

The hotel was a welcome relief in the city, as the swimming pool area was nice and it was great to have the bar (with a 24 hour option for the hardcore people out there). It was great to have the option of in-room dining also.

Top notch modern Hotel with great restaurants and amenities. In the modern section of Kolkata.

The business lounge has sub standard drinks brand and food was pretty bad

Lounge acces with free drinks and food between 18:00and 20:00 is absolutely great. I booked the hoyel because it has swimmingpool but unfortunaty is was closed for maintance

It was good and felt like home. My kid liked the game zone and the swimming pool the most.

Untrained reception staffs , unclean plates at breakfast

We made a reservation for 12 nights sight unseen. Unfortunately we had to check out after the first night because of overwhelming smell of pesticide that irritated our lungs, loud music late into the night and during the day. They are listed as offering a full kitchen, however, in reality what you get is a kitchenette with a tiny refrigerator. We made the mistake of paying them in advance sight unseen. They declined to issue a refund.

Very good hotel, very friendly staff, very clean throughout, check-in and check-out was easy, room was good, enough toiletries in the bathroom. But the hotel authority needs to accommodate more seats around the reception areas, lots of people came early check-in, so not enough available seats around or occupied by other customers. People either standing or roaming around the coffee shop.

Personeel was heel beleefd. Kamer was heel netjes. Eten was goed. Eetzaal was jammer genoeg koud. Zou zeker teruggaan. Raad zeker aan.

Poor front office experience, worth the price definitely. Housekeeping good, restaurant during breakfast tables were not being cleaned well, lacking hygiene.

Decorative and clean

The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and our waiter Nasir was outstanding in his service. The man who cleaned our room even folded my clothes. I would highly recommend this hotel

Rooms are pretty small for 3 people, takes a long time to get anything to the room and in general not coordinated and at a 5 star level.

Been at the hotel on my Girlfriends birthday and she was very happy with the room type . Had booked an Apartment with some of the best views one can find in Kolkata. Will be surely visiting again on my Birthday this September and more occasions to come in future . .

The hotel is no more any good . Room facilities are wearing out .. hotel staff in buffet doesn’t care at all whether it’s busy or not .. they make you wait long or just forget the order .. expensive hotel with poor service in all !!!

We stayed here for 3 nights with two toddlers. Do not at all recommend if you are staying with families particularly small children. The hotel had banquets, fashion shows and marriage parties going on evert day, the noise was unbearable throughout the day. You could hear rock music and Bollywood music from the 12th floor late at night. Repeated complaints had no avail as they simply say it's a private function and they can't do anything. Basically they will neglect guests for cheap banquets. Housekeeping was almost non-existent. Asked for teaspoons (from IRD and HK) for my kid who needed medication to be fed by spoon but never received them. Was given the explanation that only disposable stirrers are provided. Rooms are small for a hotel of this stature and bathroom floors have very slippery wall tiles, who puts wall tiles on floor in a hotel is beyond my comprehension. My kid slipped and got his head. We asked for an anti skid pad and was told they don't have any. Seemed they don't even know what it is. There were couples of questionable nature frequenting the rooms, like those that you see in hourly rate kind of hotels. If you know I mean avoid this hotel at all costs if you are traveling with family. The only positives was our housekeeping staff Momin who did a decent job of cleaning the room, they should hire more staff like him who genuinely care for the guests. Breakfast is limited and not worth the price. There are much better options for your money.

However, on several occasions the room service and requests took a long time to be fulfilled and at times not fulfilled at all. Breakfast was very good, but the live action items were very slow and once again on several occasions our orders did not come through and had to be chased a few times. Overall a comfortable and good stay. Management should work on looking at speeding up some service requests.
