Kanuga Inn & Lodging

Not enough parking spaces available for guests. A wedding was going on and when we returned to the hotel after going to dinner we could not find a place to park. Two rooms, one above us and one across the hall had barking dogs. They were quiet after about 11:00 though. Also, out air conditioning unit in the room made a loud buzzing Boyce all night.

We were lucky to find this Episcopal retreat and conference center for our short mountain vacation. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning and it is located on a beautiful campus. Rooms were clean and updated. No TV, phones, or refrigerators in the room, but that was okay. There was a free laundry room down the hall from us, which came in very handy. We went home with all of our clothes clean!

This is an amazing place. But you need to understand it I place for reflection and peace. There is no TV or clock in your room. They have WiFi, but it is wonderful without it. They have wonderful places for exercise and hiking. And activities if you want.

Far from highway and businesses - no truck sounds. Relatively spartan but has everything I needed including one of the best laundry room for a hotel. Nice to sit out on the porch or the outdoor seating.

The property caters more as a Christian retreat for groups. I stayed for one night while on a business trip and was a bit surprised since there were no indicators in the description, but it was not a deal breaker since they state they are open to everyone in their website. Pros: beautiful surroundings, great breakfast and plenty of parking space. Cons: was not informed of the one night stay fee and dinner schedule when checking in (I missed dinner), room smelled and was dirty with mold in the shower (handicapped chair in the shower was not spared), walls are paper thin, floors were sticky and there were holes on the wall from the a/c installation. The inn clearly has potential, but it needs some work.

Summer camp vibes in here!!! Great place with lots of activities. There are outdoor and indoor playgrounds, lots of board games to use, trails, boats, tennis court, beach, lake to swim or fish, library and gym. Yes there is no tv in a room- but we didn't need it. Breakfast is great. The only down side is thin walls. Other than that- beatiful place to stay

I would ignore the bad reviews. As long as you understand that this is primarily a retreat for the episcopal church and the rooms are suited for that purpose, you will just love this location. The rooms are a bed and a bathroom. If you want amenities, they are absolutely there. If you think about retreats, this is about community and amenities are outside of a personal experience It’s the first time I have kayaked this year on their beautiful lake, roasted marshmallows on a campfire, they had coffee anytime you wanted it in a central location. All you had to do to get staff’s attention was simply say good morning or good evening and the attendant are right there to help you. it is a very special place close to Brevard, mountains, biking, trails, hiking trails, and basically anything you would want in the mountains.

The staff were great. The ambiance of the location is perfect. Food was great! Everything was clean and well maintained!

They didn’t have a room for pets. They sent an email before I could cancel my reservation. The bathroom floor was so dirty. I received a phone call from a he hotel stating that they never received the he $150.00 pet deposit from me. I stated that I paid the deposit when I checked in. The room had been remodeled but they never patched up the wall where the ac unit had been placed.. I found bugs in the room.

For the price, I feel like our stay at Kanuga Inn was worth it, as it truly is a very nice property and facility, however there are a few things I was not as happy with: - Overall cleanliness: Not the cleanest and it is worth noting that on the 2nd night, two red cockroaches were crawling around the sink, one of them crawling out of my bag with my toothbrush, etc - I do have photos of this but the app button to add is not working - Disclosure on website: I wish it was more clear that certain things, like a TV, are not available in the room; This was not a dealbreaker as there are more activities to do on site and we did not spend too much time in room but again, would have been nice if it stated in the room description “no TV available” - Staff support: When mentioning the cockroaches, there was no mention to change rooms, or anything else. It was towards then end of our stay so I guess not much could have been done but it he lack of reaction made it seems like cockroaches in the room should be expected

This might be the most beautiful property I’ve stayed at. The room and property were spotless. I didn’t realize they had all those walking trails either. There’s a beautiful lake. It was so quiet and peaceful. This will be my new go to place to stay!

The grounds are nice; however, the room had a terrible musty odor. The bed was very uncomfortable. I am still uncertain why there was a space heater in the room & can’t believe that is ok per code. Check in was efficient & the gift shop was nice.

Very pleasant setting and nice staff. Beds were very firm for our liking. Didn't know there wouldn't be a TV in the room, only in public lounge areas.

Would not stay here again. There was mold in shower and there was POOR water pressure. There wires hanging out of wall. Beds were very hard. Shared balcony with strangers. No locks for door. No vending machine. The website said you could alacarte off the menu but it ended up being you had to pay 26$ for the all you can eat buffet. Poor internet, no phone, no tv, had to go to front to get iron. Definitely not worth the price.

There are no TVs in the rooms which was disappointing since it is college football season. Based on Expedia, I thought we would have a lake view from our room, which we did not.

Check in was easy, food was okay but very expensive for what it was. Room was very small and limited on space. AC did not cool room until much later in the night (3:00am after humidity from shower was gone) Wouldn’t recommend more than 2 people per room. The grounds were very nice and did what we needed (just there to sleep for 1 night) but anything over 1 night we would have transferred resorts.

The only reason I have it 4/5 was because the beds were just horribly uncomfortable. Felt like sleeping on a stone slab. Also unless you were in the main lobby there was no WiFi. Otherwise very nice area, the food was nice, and the staff were great.

The loudest hotel I’ve stayed at, every word from the hall I heard at every hour. They did not have enough staff at check in, I waited over 15 mins to just check in. It’s a beautiful property but not for me.

Overall not a bad experience, however the WiFi doesn't work, or internet connection, therefor no communication to family still at home, bed was hard as a rock,no amenities like hair dryer,iron,etc...The normal stuff you have in hotels. The room was uncomfortable due to the fact that you could not control your room temperature ,thermostat was locked.

Property is beautiful, quiet, clean. Directions to check in not very clear. Staff attentive and nice. There are NO TV’s in the rooms, but WiFi is available. Sadly, walls are paper thin, and the person next to me was sick and coughing, I did not get much sleep… The wall AC unit was also loud, it sounded like a mechanics air compressor. I was only staying for 1 night so I didn’t make a fuzz, but the thin walls may keep me from coming back.. Unless I bring earplugs ? There are hiking and biking trails on Site, so those may be fun. 3/5 stars..

The staff when we registered was cold and when we asked to be moved to a room with a balcony they said they couldn't do it. I had reserved a king room with a balcony. When questioned about not being able to move us to another room he said they were booked. There were about 3 other cars there and when we went for breakfast the 2 days we were the only people in there.

When we arrived the check in clerk said there was an issue with our payment, that it was coming up declined, even tho we had paid in full when making the reservation. She said I'd need to speak with a manager in the morning. So I spent out first night worried about payment issues. Management did confirm in the morning there was no issue. I ordered a balcony room with a tub and king size bed. My receipt says balcony king size room. We didn't get a balcony or a tub. We was put in a king bed handicap accessible room. We was told it was because hotels requested a balcony room if avaliable in the notes, even tho my receipt specified it was supposed to be a balcony room! The check in clerk tried to find us a balcony room, but was unsuccessful. I was also looking forward to soaking in the tub, but we only had a shower. The lake can only be used for swimming or boating if a lifeguard is on duty. Which was only for a few hours a day. The included breakfast had great potential, but the eggs were slimy, the bacon was burnt and the toast was rock hard. The a/c in the room seemed to struggle to cool the room, once it finally got cooled off in the room on the second day it stayed cooled off. There is no TV in the room! Hotels says there is TV on their listing and this is incorrect. None of the inn rooms have TV. The mirror is put bathroom was flaking paint, there was water stains on the desk, many of the benches were covered in moss and mold. Overall it was not worth the price!

We loved the beauty and cleanliness of Kanuga Inn! The breakfast was superb and kitchen staff remarkable. Beth, in the gift shop, was helpful, kind and informative of good places to visit in the area! We will be back!

What a great place to stay and relax. We were services by Lee, he was a great host and very helpful.

Person at check in was rude - we were not important to him at all. Beautiful property, enjoyed a great picnic on the nice table & chairs provided in the shade with a lake view, room was fine - with a small balcony where we had wine in the evening and coffee in the morning. AC vent blew directly on the bed making it difficult to sleep on one side.

Overall a pleasant experience. Room was clean, etc. Staff were friendly and efficient

This property is apparently owned by the Episcopal Church yet it is a full use public hotel. The grounds were impeccable with hiking trails, a small lake, wooded surroundings, isolated yet accessible, I loved it. A full buffet style breakfast, not like the type you typically find in chain hotels but like a restaurant. The rooms are a little dated but very clean, no television which was actually nice. Highly recommend!

It’s a beautiful Inn in a beautiful setting. It is quiet and peaceful. You’re in a wooded rustic area, but only minutes away from shopping and restaurants.

No tv which I guess was listed but you assume that as a standard. No hairdryer in room! For being a place of retreat, halls were pretty noisy! Advertised a restaurant but only served a buffet@$25. Had to drive back into town for lighter fare not something most travelers want to do. Beautiful setting!

Beautiful mountain resort. Well appointed. Some age but well maintained. Excellent breakfast. Walking trails and other outdoor amenities. When there’s a wedding reception, restaurant only offered one menu item to other occupants. Generally staff was effective but not as friendly and welcoming as most.

Breakfast was great. Dinners ok have to be in a mood for that. Great place for solitude whenever there's not groups of people there yelling till 11pm

Checking in was slow with no one in line in front of me. We were traveling with pets and the room that I booked wasn’t a room for pets. The resort itself was beautiful. The room itself smelled and it wasn’t a clean smell. Dinner buffet had one main dish and salad for $25 each. Free breakfast was magnificent each morning!
