Royal Olympic Hotel

Good location , good service ,first impression is very good. Not so good: Hotel is dated. AC is lobby and rooms is not strong enough. Our room had only single outlet to charge our phones phones and its far from the bed. Gym is outside the hotel and looks terrible. Machines looks 30 years old. Water temperature wasn't warm enough for us. I would stay at a newer hotel.

Super convenient location! Close to the best areas in Athens. The view from the breakfast is beautiful and the breakfast was excellent, a full buffet. Front desk staff very nice and helpful. The wait staff at the breakfast were already starting to close up the buffet and tables at 930am (the buffet closes at 10am) making the experience feel rushed and just overall not the nicest staff up there. The pool is great but should be opened early, 11am is way too late and 730pm is way too early to close. Felt safe walking back to hotel at night. Overall, a great hotel for only have 2 nights in athens after our trip to the islands.

We loved having the pool to retreat to after being out in the heat and the crowds of Athens. My room was gorgeous directly below the restaurant and with a view of the Acropolis. Loved everything about staying here.

Roof top restaurant view for cocktails and for breakfast was breathtaking. The pool area was relaxing after a hot day sightseeing.

The food was good, but the hotel had only two very small elevators, each fitting just two people with one piece of luggage. Although I had already paid for the stay when I booked online, I was surprised to be charged an additional €15 tax upon checking out. I mentioned that this should have been included in the booking charges, but the lady at the counter, in a rather cold tone, simply said it was part of hotel policy. Because of this experience, I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel to others. I

The hotel was clean and staff was attentive. The location is perfect if you like to walk everywhere. The hotel has great views however the entire facility is outdated. The bar was a big letdown, it was hot in there and service was nonexistent. Was not expecting a $105.57 charge at checkout for lodging or $15.19 single premium internet service - I would prefer having these costs added to the total price and not a surprise to me.

The location was perfect for someone staying in Athens, especially for the first time. Everything was close, shopping, dining, museums, ruins, etc. etc. Could not ask for a better location. The hotel staff were very helpful. The food was good. The bar both in the lobby and the rooftop bar were very good. The pool was a wonderful place to get away from the heat and relax.

We had a lovely stay here and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet and view from the rooftop restaurant were great and it was very easy to get to points of interest and transport options. Our only comment would be that the hotel sells itself as having a pool, but the pool and access to the surrounding terrace are only available seasonally! Access to both starts in May so if this is part of your reason to book this hotel, double check it will actually be available!

Good location and a very beautiful roof garden restaurant

Our room (604) had a strong odour of sewer which would not go away even with the balcony door open. Staff was quick to move us though.

The hotel feels more like a 3, 3.5* hotel. Maybe 25 years ago it was 5*. It is now however feeling quite old in the rooms, furnitures looking tired and also the pool area. The rooms were clean though and there was good air conditioning

The property is very tired. My room smelled of drains and was incredibly noisy all night long. The breakfast although it looked comprehensive was very limited. No fruit except for a bowl of apples. The cooked items always looked as though they had been sitting a long time. The hotel is close to numerous local dining options. But really noisy.

I was very disappointed with our room accommodation. The rooms was very dark and we had no windows view. The toilet bowl cover was broken and the room smell horrible. The TV had poor reception. I will not recommend this hotel.

Room carpeting is old and had bad odor

I was hope the the room where clean but the room. Had moly smel as it look like it was not open in days bar fridge disnt work and tv as well

Overall our hotel stay was okay. The appearance of the hotel when you walk in is great, and the location is very central to downtown. The view from the hotel bar & restaurant is also great. However, both our floor and room had a musty smell that was hard to ignore. The hotel room itself is extremely out of date: the tv was old and didn’t work, the light switches are very very old school and also didn’t work, and there wasn’t any new appliances such as a coffee or espresso machine. The pillows were not very comfortable, and the comforter itself was out of date and itchy. The hotel would be so much better if the rooms were updated. I personally do not think it’s worth the money.

Old hotels room smells. Services is poor and food not good. Shower head keep falling, plus only two power outlets. .

Average hotel (5 star very debatable for our room anyway) We booked an internal double room. Not knowing that we would have no window and natural light in the room so it was like a dungeon. The lighting in the room is very dim with only table lamps making simple tasks like getting dressed very hard. The AC was just blowing warm air around the room and the vent was located in a seperate part of the bedroom not aiming toward the bed. The mattress was very hard and very old styled bedding. No power points in the bathroom. Mould on walls by bed. Service by restaurant / bar staff very good but front desk not the best. Wasn’t made to feel welcome at all. Breakfast very average… not many healthy options. Great view from the rooftop bar. Pool was great but not that many sun loungers for the amount of guests at the hotel. Overall an experience to stay there as the architecture is beautiful but the hotel needs a lot of updating to be a 5 star hotel - 3.5 star at best.

Not 5* as advertised - my room was pretty dated, hole in the ceiling, big brown stain on the floor, reception staff also a little rude when checking in to be completely honest. Didn’t tell me about the facilities just my room number and so I had to ask and they got a little impatient with me and I actually didn’t visit the gym because I didn’t know where it was and didn’t want to ask again! However the bar, the view from the bar, food and foyer were all lovely, which was kind of the reason we booked it. Breakfast also really nice.

It is not a five-star hotel, it is closer to a three-star property. The rooms and bathrooms are in need of deep renovation. The TV is outdated, offers only a few channels, and the picture quality is poor. There were issues with the window and with the air-conditioning. The safe battery also needs to be replaced. On the positive side, the closed terrace on the 7th floor is very nice and offers a gorgeous view of the Acropolis. Overall, the value for money is average.

Zero services at the pool and limited to ONE towel per guest. Feels more like a 1-night stand hotel for people waiting to board their cruise ship, not for long-term guests. Bathtub only, no shower.

Old hotel, not matching for younger generations, reasons why ; too dark inside room, no enough power outlets (can not charge mobile beside beds, just available under desk far from beds), elevators are so slow, that's why breakfast restaurants are mess.

I can’t recommend staying here. The bed was not comfortable and the sheets were fairly rough to sleep in. Someone came in to my room when I had to do not disturb sign on and stole my diamond airings and took the do not disturb sign off of the door. They also made the bed and left a chocolate bar in there at the same time. The TV didn’t work and no one came to fix it. The telephone worked half of the time.

Reception staff terribly rude and unhappy Restaurant staff amazingly friendly Concierge service by phone and by mail a disaster. All our booking from car at airport to private guide was not booked by hotel after even e-mail confirmation. So you should organise all by yourself and only have dinner at panoramic restaurant which was delightful

Terrible experience , staff was rude , booked two rooms , no customer service no smile , faculty was run down and no one cared to assist , even prior to checking this hotel was not reachable as we were celebrating our daughters bdy wanted some decor or cake in the room never happened. On our first night as we checked in noticed air conditioning not working called front desk told them said sending mechanic to fix we left for dinner came back 10:30 assuming it’s fixed … clearly not fixed ,, called to ask they said we will send maintenance again ,, no one came to check or do by midnight we opened balcony tried to pass the night than went to kids room to sleep called again said will check in morning .. reminded again in morning to check that said it will be fixed today ,, we went out for our day out sight seing ,, came back by 4:30-5 AC was not working room was boiling outside temperature too hot too ,,, than finally mechanic came ruled out cannot fix right away u shod move yo different room ,, they gave us another room on same floor end of corridor as our kids were wd is didn’t want to move floors too far from them ,, this room AC was working slightly initially than it stoped by 7pm hot air kept coming and room had the worst smell from bathroom like swerage ,, called front desk by this time they just started ignoring us we were treated as we didn’t exist felt so discriminated, went down personally to talk ,, it was just waste of time they didn’t care to listen atal .

It truely saddens me to write this review. My family and extended family discovered this hotel over 15 years ago. It is or I should say have been our go to hotel in Athens. It is a treat for us to stay and enjoy the beautiful roof top view and breakfast before heading to the islands. This trip was put in a room with non working AC, After 4 seperate requests to have the AC checked they waited till 3:00 a.m. to offer to move us along with shrugged shoulders from the manaement at the front desk. So very shocked and saddened. Good bye Royal Olympic for my entire family.

There were not convenient outlets by our bed to accommodate our CPAP machines, however the staff did provide us with an extension cord!

The property itself was beautiful. The rooftop restaurant and bar are worth every penny you spend to stay here. The staff at the restaurant and bar were kind and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and the pool is amazing. It is so close to everything and easy to walk to many different attractions. However, the front desk staff had no interest in serving us. During check-in and when our key stopped working, we were spoken down to. We work very hard to be good citizens of the world and be gracious to all in every country that we visit because we are visitors in their home. I felt like we were unwelcome at checkin and reprimanded when our key stopped working.

Location was great, close to all the sites. The room was excellent and the view! The service at the roof top restaurant was horrible at both Dinner and Breakfast and it was almost impossible to get someone to confirm reservation, it took 2 months and numerous emails and phone call to get this done. We booked thru Travelocity the room and when we checked out they wanted to charge us again for the room which we were not happy about as we felt being taken advantage of since doc from Travelocity said balance due was zero. This really made stay not pleasant as we were leaving for a cruise and did not need to be fighting at checkout because of some invoicing error between Travelocity and hotel, it added stress to our vacation vs joy, we were not happy about this at all and next time will book hotel directly rather than thru Travelocity for foreign countries as we will not go thru this again

I walked into my room 104 while the cleaning lady were cleaning and I saw one lady going through my shopping bag and she had my receipt in her hand, she started asking me where did I shop to find such good deals. It’s so unethical that the cleaning lady is going through my personal stuffs. I’m really disappointed with the behavior and I felt unsafe.

The front desk staff in the lobby and the staff working the rooftop restaurant for dinner were extremely rude and require a class in Effective Customer Service 101. I have made a career in customer service for the past 20 years and I have never experienced such disrespect in a service oriented staff. Our room’s a/c had a bad convector which sounded like a mini jackhammer and our bathroom toilet leaked sewage. When we ask for compensation, the front desk staff didn’t even apologize to us but said we would need to take it up with our travel agent (I.e., Expedia). Expedia rep was amazing but the hotel manager refused to provide us with any compensation. Lastly, our experience at the rooftop restaurant for dinner was just as awful. For such a premium cost, we were hoping for decent service which it was not. Waited a full hour for both a refill on our waters and for our finished dinner plates to be removed to receive our bill. During this time, we tried looking ant the servers to motion them over to us, tried physically gesturing for service, and lastly vocalizing. Only after the bill came and we paid it, the manager stop by and asked how our dinner was. We explained the severe lack of service (almost as if we were invisible) along with my husband’s rack of lamb being completely overcooked and dry (after our food was served earlier, no one ever checked on us regarding our food).The manager was unapologetic and stated nothing can be done since bill was paid. Not even an apology.

The best thing about the hotel was the location. We paid extra for a room that overlooked the Temple of Zeus (you could just see the acropolis if you moved the curtain). It was very convenient as the Hop On, Hop Off buses stopped 50 m away and the busses/trams from Sp stopped right outside.

This classy hotel is gorgeous - and just steps away from the main tourist spots in the city center of Athens. It’s also an ideal choice if you’re running the Athens Marathon, just about a half-mile walk from the Olympic stadium at the finish line.

Well situated to access the Acropolis complex, walking distance to Parliament, and Agora. Splendid view from the rooftop restaurant.

Breakfast opened too late to get to our early excursions on time. We had to wait to be served coffee and tea but not enough servers available

The Royal Olympic was in a perfect location close to the majority of monuments and historical sites, about 5-15 min walk to everything. The property was great and rooms were clean. The bed was not very comfortable but worked for a short stay. The pool was very clean and big (very deep) but was much too cold to stay in very long. The check in process was probably the only thing I was disappointed with - we arrived early and they didn’t have a room ready so asked us to come back at 3 to check-in. All others were told the same so we ended up waiting in a line for an hour just to check in. They could have done our paperwork first and assigned a room later which would have sped up the process. The hotel bar and restaurant were good and the view was breathtaking. You have a perfect sunset view of the Acropolis from the restaurant.

This is a lovely hotel right in the centre of Athens. The decor is very traditional full of marble and wood you would expect to see in a historical Greek hotel. The facilities were ok. The breakfast was a bit ropey towards the end of the sitting, being cold and little left. The to in the room was from the 1990’s with little to no signal.

While the lobby appears very grand, the rooms are disappointing and lack amenities (tv few channels were snowy etc) mini bar needs a clean are organised better. The rooftop garden area is stunning, with fantastic views of Athens. However breakfast ‘hot’ options were cold and lacking. But the most disappointing was the service from staff. With perhaps the exception of a few the treatment and hospitality of staff fell far short of decent especially those working the rooftop bar in the evening
