Overall, I was happy. Location was exactly what I was looking for. A few small disappointments: Valet parking that was mandatory and expensive. If I’d known ahead of time, maybe. But it’s not listed on the website. The guys who ran the valet were super cool and in-&-out were fine. I just didn’t know about it beforehand. I had booked the hotel for three reasons: 1) location, 2) laundry facilities, 3) pool. 1) location was great! 2) laundry facilities- one washer/dryer was totally out of order and the other washer/dryer was partially out of order. I knew I would have a lot of laundry to do, so that was a big bummer to find out after the fact. 3) when I arrived, there was a sign at the front desk saying the pool heater wasn’t working. Also a big bummer.

The pool was great - it's heated and has great hours/its open really early. Amazing location - super closer to the boardwalk, with great views of the boardwalk too. The only bummer was that our room was not ready for another 45 mins after check in , which is already a pretty late check-in time (4pm) which made it really inconvenient. We booked the king suite, which was great - great size. The sofa didn't have the necessary linens but staff brought it pretty quickly. The restaurant wasn't open which was too bad, because it would have been great to have a drink while waiting for room past check-in time.

The overall feel of the property was ok, the room did not have adequate AC, it lacked the ability to cool it down, and the hallway outside the door was cooler by several degrees. The pillows were the worst I have ever used, and I have stayed at many Marriotts. The ceiling fire strobe was blinking a dim white light throughout the night and was on sometimes and off at other times. It was bright. The fire pits outside did not work at first, and after multiple tries, they finally went on; other guests were having the same issues. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again based on these issues.

Brand new hotel so the rooms are big, new and clean. They only offer valet parking and it was a disaster. Any time we tried to get our car there was a long line and when we checked out, the line was at least 15 people with one attendant. He ended up just giving us our keys and told us to go get our own car. Obviously this hotel did not make enough parking for the number of rooms available. Plus parking is $25 a night, which was too much for poor valet service.

Room key is needed for the elevator to work cans MUST stay in the light switch in room for all electrical outlets to work. That was slightly inconvenient. If you have more than one person staying with you, ask for extra key cards. There is a parking fee of $25 underneath the hotel. It is required valet but it’s a one time fee, So you can come and go as you please. The hotel lobby is nice. There are also fire pits outback that you can use it anytime. There is a pool and a gym. There is no complementary breakfast or coffee except the coffee and tea in your hotel room. The rooms are not as soundproof as you would hope. We could hear families walking and talking down the hallway. Thankfully, during our day, it was not busy. It is in a nice location and within walking distance to the boardwalk.

Bed bugs found in Room 225 on September 20, 2025. Originally given room 225 and while doing a routine scan for bed bugs, I found 2 in the seams of the fabric headboard. Both were recently engorged and large, seemingly having been there for a long time. Told the front desk about it and they moved us to a different room on a different floor, but nothing else was done for the inconvenience. They could only place us on the 1st floor, leaving us exposed to ground level traffic. The curtain wouldn't shut properly so passerbys could peek in easily. We had to pin together the curtains to get enough privacy. When asked to contact a manager, the manager refused, citing being "too overwhelmed." They refused to come out to speak with us even though they had just helped another customer that was right in front of us. They kept promising that the general manager would call before the end of our stay, but they never did. Disappointing because this is an expensive hotel that shouldn't have these types of problems. And if so, they should at least address something as severe as bed bugs early. Who knows if there are any in other rooms. Again, the 2 bed bugs were found easily meaning they've been feeding and in the room for a long time. Unfortunately management doesn't seem concerned enough to fix the problem.

The exterior of property is beautiful as they are in pictures HOWEVER the Valet Parking ONLY option was annoying first of all because I don’t like having access to my car and second of all the valet was SOO unhelpful. They have you unload your car right at the entrance of the parking garage (I was almost hit by a car incoming in the parking lot). No one offered us a luggage cart or helped give any helpful information. We asked twice, so we just unload here in the middle of the drive way? Mind you, I also have a 3 year old in tow… so we had to take everything up with us, carry my 3 year old (cause we are in a parking garage with valet driving inches away from our car) and had to carry everything up ourselves. I would have really appreciated if someone would have offered us a luggage cart or something. I ended up leaving stuff in the car I needed cause I couldn’t carry it myself and my son safety. I felt like I was annoying the valet for being confused on where I’m supposed to unload and check in. As if that situation wasn’t annoying enough, a few hours later when we get ready for bed, I turn down the sheets and there was what looked to be sand and brown hair in the bed (my son and I have blonde hair and we hadn’t even made it to the beach yet). I couldn’t get a hold of front desk, so at 9:00pm, I had to walk downstairs and request clean sheets (which I changed the bedding myself cause they just handed them to me and didn’t apologize or offer to help). Nice hotel, very clean, very secure. Staff was very friendly. Terribly view. Food was extremely overpriced and not good at all. Layout in room was super awkward.. the tv was on the left wall so you could only watch it by turning your head to the left… also the armoire was in the corner and you literally had to go in the corner to open the door and then the door would hit the bid. Room was supposed to come with a sofa bed and it came with a chair.. a lot of unused wasted space in the room. Again, it was clean and nice but I won’t be going back.

First off - Valets were great. Parking is a pain, but they made it easy to get in/out. Just about everything else was...challenging. When we checked in, our room was reasonable (nice and clean, but we had some broken furniture that we had to work around). Our room had a door to an adjoining suite that was closed as the room was occupied by another traveler. Shortly after check in - we kept hearing screaming and loud noises coming from somewhere, but the could not figure out where. The hallway had some noise, but was very manageable - the insane level of noise was due to the adjoining suite and showed no signs of abating (kids have bad days - I get it). So I went to the front desk to see if we could simply change rooms since we needed to sleep. The manager stated they didn't have any other rooms available to move us to. However when I asked if renting a second room was an option, she stated that they had plenty of inventory for that and found an available room with similar attributes. We got a discount on the second room, but they would not refund the initial (unusable) room. Followed up with Hotels.com support, Marriott Corporate and will be escalating to my credit card company next. Also - Elevators are not in good shape - the running joke was all the folks taking the stairs as it sounded like the metal boxes were going to get stuck at any time. Regarding food service - front desk said food was available til 10pm, TV menu says the same - the reality is 9pm - heads up!

We had a great stay at Courtyard. Room was clean and spacious. The only thing we didn’t like were the beds. We reserved room with queen beds but it seemed like both beds are only full size. And they were not comfortable either. They have underground parking but they charge $25 valet only. We didn’t mind because we only stayed for 1 night but if you’re staying longer then be prepared to pay $25/day. But at least you feel safer that your car has security in the parking garage. You have in & out privileges too. The best thing we loved about our stay was the location. It’s a 5 minute walk to the Boardwalk & 5-10 minutes walk to different restaurants nearby. Overall we like Courtyard and will likely return & recommend to our family & friends!

Room facing the Main Street was noisy from party goers late at night. Rooms are clean and spacious. Loved the convenience of location being a block away from the Boardwalk and having breakfast and dining area. That was good for families. Underground parking lot on the small side so if your car is parked close to the elevators, the valet will just hand you your key.

Room was a good size and quite stylish for the price. we had a comfortable stay there. the room could have a bit more lighting as it felt a bit dim at night. We were a bit lazy when we checked into the hotel and just bought some items from the room next to the reception, there was no pricing. We only later found out that the shop just a couple minutes walk from the hotel was selling them for half the price. It is only a 5 mins walk to the Boardwalk and a further 5 mins to the Pier. Parking was valet parking but I'm not sure why it needed it as we actually drove straight into the carpark and could have just parked it ourselves. Luckily Hotel.com had parking for $17 when the hotel has it at $30, so we paid for it as part of the package. There was some confusion with reception when we checked out, they charged me for parking, I had explained that I had already paid for parking at the booking, they said that they can't see it, which seemed bit odd.they did reverse the charge.

I arived at 4:00 pm, at check in time, my room wasn’t ready. They took my information down and said they’d let me know when it was ready( they never did ). An hour later I was furious and went to the front of thr out of control line and told them I needed my room NOW. I had been on the road for over six hours and my son had thrown up all over himself. They finally gave me my room and I went to wash his clothes and I didn’t have change . I went to the front desk to get change for the washing machine, they informed me they did not have enough change to wash and dry, but I had enough to wash. I finally had enough to wash a load of laundry than the washing machine didn’t work. The following day I called downstairs for towels, they never arrived. The morning of checkout I called to ask for extra toilet paper and they said they would send it up, 30 minutes later I still didn’t get it. I called again and they said they’ll bring it up and they never did. I had to go find a housekeeper on one of the floors to ask them for a roll of toilet paper. I have stayed at this hotel twice, this is the place that we stay every summer for our Santa Cruz trip and I will never go to this hotel again. Our experience at this hotel put a damper on our entire trip. This was the worst stay I have ever had.

The good: Valet staff was great. Bistro staff was great. Nice room, great location. The bad: House keeping is non existent. Front desk service was terrible. We were there for 4 nights and house keeping never cleaned the room. We had to call the front desk multiple times to just to get fresh towels and to have the trash removed. They always promised it would be there in 10 minutes but never was. We loved the hotel and location but were suprised and disappointed by how poorly it was run. Front desk staff didn't seem to care at all, we felt completely ignored. They would say what ever they could to get rid of you. Hotel really needs new management.

Not customer friendly, poor way to check in. Cafe employee gave us the wrong information regarding closing hours for dining. Ordered take out , front desk receive it and did not call us to pickup food, we waiting , but had to check and call the desk . At check out carts for your suit case are located in the basement parking area not in the lobby, unheard of this before. Negatives: Although the posted check in time is 4 pm and I assume mgmt knew how many check ins were scheduled that day, there was a line going out the front desk area and into the bar with only ONE staff person to check in guests!! Why weren’t there more staff scheduled?? Apparently the same problem occurred several days preceding our check in day according to other guests. We specifically asked for a very QUIET room as we are very light sleepers. Normally we try to get the top floor. We were assigned a room on the 3 rd floor as no top floor rooms were available according to the desk clerk although we had made our request clear at 12:30 when we arrived and requested early check in, which we didn’t get. The room directly above us sounded like elephants were staying there. We heard the sound of footsteps running back and forth across the room and thuds that sounded like kids were jumping off of the furniture starting at 6 am and not ending until 11 pm or so. Maybe you should consider not placing families with young kids in 4th floor rooms. The second day of our stay we had to request a room “refresh” at about 3 pm as it hadn’t been done before that. When we returned an hour or so later the bed was made, dirty towels were removed, but inadequate number of towels remained: 1 bath towel, no bath mat, 2 hand towels and 3 wash cloths. Generally hotels have 4 of each and 1 bath mat for two guests in my experience. Positives: Front desk staff were extremely warm and welcoming

I recently stayed at a “high-end” Marriott in Santa Cruz, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Don’t be fooled by the beauty or the Marriott name the service and management here were absolutely unacceptable. • There was no parking available, and I drove around for 45 minutes trying to find street parking. Nothing was available within a 3-mile radius. When I asked the front desk for help, they actually laughed at me. I pleaded for a solution and was met with total indifference. I was forced to illegally park in a residential area. Because of this, we were never able to go back to the hotel to change after my daughter’s softball tournament, and we missed getting ready for our team dinner. • The valet was extremely rude and honestly seemed under the influence I wouldn’t trust him with anything, let alone my car. This hotel should seriously consider drug testing staff. • When I arrived late at night with my teenage kids, the elevator was broken. I didn’t feel safe leaving them alone or with our luggage, and when I asked the front desk for help carrying things up to the third floor, I got a firm “No.” Meanwhile, other staff were talking about their DoorDash orders on break. No offer to help, not even after their food arrived. • Our bathroom was disgusting with unknown substances splattered on the walls, and housekeeping never came the entire stay. • When we used all our towels to clean up a leak and asked for more, they told me I had to come get them m

Terrible check-in experience, Reached on time , when I waited on the queue with my family including 2 kids, and tried to check-in around 4:45PM, the front desk staff didn't greet me instead she directly said you have to wait for sometime in the lobby to check in ( no polite just ordered me ) , I waited for sometime but the people before me or after me they all got checked in w/o any problem, then I had to ask again and she finally able to check-in. Basically ok except for the toilet. Completely filthy behind the toilet and wall. Very disgusting. The Starbucks is never open. I’ve been 4 times and always closed. Coffee is about a five minute walk. Keep young kids close to you!

No food options at the hotel. Bar and restaurant were closed Sunday when we arrived at 5 pm. Disappointed. Could hear someone walking and running around on the floor above in the early morning and could not get back to sleep. Check in staff person was very nice.

A wonderful location with spacious rooms. The staff was responsive and helpful. The bistro was not open and we found the minimal breakfast offerings disappointing. The valet parking service was overwhelmed when we arrived on a busy afternoon.

The hotel is perfectly located, no car needed. Our room was very nice and spacious. The bar/restaurant has odd hours so we weren't able to use it.

This is the nicest newer hotel close to the Boardwalk. Most other hotels by the boardwalk are old. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of a complimentary breakfast. The have some basic breakfast items but rather expensive. Also $25 to park.

Proximity to the boardwalk is what you’re really paying for here. Accommodations at the hotel itself were basic but fine. Food in cafe ranged from decent to bad. Hotel “store” was a glorified closet and poorly stocked. Room was clean and comfortable, but nothing about it felt extra. Refrigerator barely worked, and I didn’t bother asking for help as I’d already seen at check-in that staff were stressed and over-tasked. I call the hotel the day before our trip to tell them we’d be arriving late, and that we had an additional kid in our group. Hotel staff that answered told me he “didn’t care about any of that,” and didn’t ask for my name or reservation, so no note was taken. We arrived near midnight to a traffic jam in hotel garage. We were told the garage was full and we couldn’t park there. Hotel had no driveway either, so I asked what I was to do? I had a car full of kids and luggage, near midnight, and there’s no place to park safely while checking in? Valet suggested I try the back alley, so instead I waited while my daughter went to the front desk. Soon she ran back: if I didn’t check in NOW we might lose our room. Valet was unhappy, but I left car, kids, and luggage in the garage aisle and ran inside. Front desk confirmed overbooking due to computer error, and said we were lucky to get the last room. I felt bad for him. He ended up giving us his parking space when he clocked out. Valet stayed grumpy with me all weekend.

Beautiful and clean hotel,very close to the boardwalk.Breakfast was delicious. Some of the downside is only valet parking in the parking garage at a cost. Loading and unloading on main street.No complementary coffee or tea station in lobby.
