I have stayed at the fable multiple times now. The buffet breakfast is decidedly average and not worth the $$ imo, but the hotel is great, the staff are nice, it's central and easily accessible and they have a nice sauna. I always check here first when I'm staying in Christchurch!

Appears to have recently been renovated so facilities and rooms are good. Lifts are incredibly slow so try to book a lower floor and use the stairs.

Property was clean, bed was comfortable, facilities provided was adequate. Water pressure for the shower was inadequate and trickling water. Not enough information given during check in, wifi etc, most hotels would share these basic information while checking in. Bonus was there was a coffee machine in the room with nepresso capsules. Parking was available however at an extra cost of $35, if not you had to park at the public carpark for $23 for overnight parking till 11am, definitely not $20 for a whole day like mentioned on the website. Car park was on a dirt road and did not have security cameras so had to walk to one further away with cameras and lights. Lots of food options nearby within walking distance which was good.

One night stay at the Fable. Located right in downtown Christchurch. Walking distance to restaurants, bars and shopping. Clean upscale hotel. Room was well appointed. Comfortable bed with quality bedding. No self parking available. Valet service for NZD $35 or public parking garage for $25 if space is available.

Good stay with a couple of exceptions. Price list for in room snacks was in the drawer. We opened the small bottle of wine left by the coffee maker thinking it was complimentary and then discovered it was actually $40. We would have appreciated to have the list posted visibly. Gym was very small so we skipped it. There was a false fire alarm in the middle of the night and we received no communications/instructions from staff. We concluded on our own that it was false alarm but a number of people exited and got stuck in the stairways which resulted in confusion and some yelling by other guests trying to get them out. Apart from that our stay was good. Location great and the room well appointed and comfortable.

Great location, lovely staff, pity about the lifts. With only two lifts servicing 20 floors and no service elevator for the staff, between competing for a lift with housekeeping and tour groups, you can easily wait 10 minutes just to get one to your floor only to find it full. Stairs not an option. With more lifts this would be another five star Fable.

Comfortable hotel in central location with friendly staff. The nespresso machine in the room was a nice touch. Unfortunately the hotel wifi connection was very intermittent which was frustrating.

Big hotel in city center. Reception was very busy on our arrival. Car parking is tricky and very limited outside the hotel. Service in general was very good. Nice room, comfortable bed and good shower. Only two lifts so there can be a wait sometimes. Overall very good and would consider again.

Hotel was alright though didn’t feel like a 5 star hotel. Sauna was not on which was a main factor of booking this hotel. Staff and facilities were otherwise okay.

We really liked the Nespresso machine and the spacious bathroom, spa bath and salts were a nice touch. Lovely body and hand wash smelt devine! Bed was a nice size and comfy and climate control kept us cool overnight. Didn’t like how the complimentary bath robes laundered. They probably had once been nice big and soft but are small and like cardboard to wear. In between the couch crevices are bits of old food, otherwise the cleanliness was good.

Check in was terrible. I was offered no assistance and it was raining. The check in process was very unpleasant and I was not made to feel welcome at all. I ordered room service that night. It arrived cold shrivels on the plate and one of the pieces of fish was old and odd. I grabbed a robe out of the closet and it was dirty. It has faeces on it. I waa extremely disappointed and thought The Fable would offer a better standard

Loved the service and the suite. Quiet. Tidy and clean room. Comfortable bedding and blackout curtains. Spa bath was amazing, and the little bag of epsom salts left by housekeeping was so cute, and the perfect touch for me. Only downside was the shower pressure

Good: nice clean room, nespresso coffee machine, plenty of teabags, small fridge mini bar, 2 each bathtowel, face towel and hand towels, Iron and iron board, safe provided. Bad: can’t open window no fresh air, fridge noise and other noise from outside definitely need earplugs, shower water pressure low Overall satisfied staying this hotel.

Great location, so convenient to get around, city tram is literally downstairs, easy to catch buses to airport too (#8 and #29) and will definitely stay here again. Staff are very friendly and helpful; love the welcome drink at the bar; lovely greeting card and sweet macaroons in the room on arrival. Tip - politely request the room facing the stadium, and you will be amazed with the view. - The shower and tap was a little tricky to operate (adjusting water temperature)

The room was nice enough, a bunch of the lights didn't work. For the price I wouldn't recommend. Also was a. Looking fo a couple and got put on the lowest floor looking out onto some old decrepit building roof, so not the greatest. Locations nearby are good and everything is walking distance. Staff on checkout looked very unclean (uniform wise).

Any business is only as good as it's worst staff member and I think we were checked in by this person. 2 girls pushed past me in the doorway as we entered (I am disabled and use crutches, they literally pushed my crutches out of the way) but my husband was in front of them. This person insisted these girls were before us to check in.... which I wasn't having and in return he was rude and gruff and incredibly unhelpful. The hotel itself is fine, great location for us, nice room, comfortable bed, quiet. But sadly, our trip is remembered by that rude first "greeting"....

We were there from Thursday morn until Sunday morn and during that time every Staff Team member were Friendly and inviting. From the Young Lady who let us into our room xtra early as we were on a 6 am flight form Hamilton to all the pthers who greeted us and talked with us each time we encountered them, Even the Fire alarm was dealt with very professionally for which they all apologised, not even their fault. Aboslutely made our stay, Great Team Thanks.

Fable Christchurch is in a great location, within walking distance to the Christchurch tram and many restaurants. The hotel lobby is compact, but lovely and there is a good priced happy hour with decent wine and beer choices in the bar. Staff were great at the check-in desk and specifically,

Good for a nights stay (we arrived well past midnight so don’t really have a chance to use the facilities), however a bit dated and the room was a tad small. Also went else wear for breakfast as the options weren’t great. Reception staff were great

Our check in overlapped with a bus group, so it took a while to get checked in. The reception staff were kind and friendly. Keep in mind parking is not free, and we were charged 25 NZD for use of public parking space next to the hotel, but it stated 20 NZD on the parking sign. We paid in advance for the "Continental Breakfast" only to find out the next morning, it consisted of pastries and jams, cereal, coffe and tea. They charged about 10 NZD extra per person for the cooked, warm food which included egg, bacon, and a few other warm cooked dishes. Overall room was clean and the location was good.

Nice, clean hotel. The breakfast options should be clarified when booking as there are two types of breakfast. We booked continental which did not include the entire breakfast buffet.
