The host was very nice and friendly. Parking was easy. The rooms were large and clean, but in need of updating. But for the price, they were completely fine. They could use better towels.

Check-in was great, it’s our 3rd time staying there and we are always greater with a smile. The rooms are overall clean, and well kept. There isn’t an ice machine but the front office can offer you a bag of ice.

Decent hotel near our concert venue. Not a lot of extras, but the room was clean and the host was very nice. There was a noisy couple near us, but that’s to be expected on a night when everyone is attending a nearby concert. The manager gave us ice from his freezer because there was no ice machine. The area around the hotel is nice enough and we didn’t have any security concerns.

A mouse in our room. Owner questioned whether we brought it in our own suitcases. There was a small hole chewed thru the corner of the front door which we blocked with our laundry bag but the mouse was already inside. Chewing all night and it scurried across the floor in the morning. We left immediately. Customer service terrible. Do not stay here

everything seemed clean until i realized the shower hadn’t even been cleaned let alone overlooked because i found so much hair on the walls as if someone cut or shaved their hair in there. from 5 ft away you can’t notice it. until you walk inside the shower. even tho the manager said that room hadn’t been touched after it was cleaned. very disappointing. if that was not cleaned i’m guessing the rest of the room wasn’t as well

I think the place in general and its location are just great. For the price as well compared to other places it's pretty good too well worth it. Although I do suggest that they manage their housekeeping staff better as they were pubic hairs and a used bar of soap left in the tub which everything else seem like it was clean just inside the tub it seems like they did not clean it. Other than that everything else was pretty okay better than what you'd expect for the price and the floors are very squeaky

The room was dirty. Lots of random hair and the shower leaked bad. When I complained about the shower, it was explained it was a design error. We had to use the towels to keep the floor dry. No housekeeping service to empty trash, but the manager did come to empty and provide clean towels. But even the clean towles had hair in them. The manager was very nice, but the cleaning of the rooms could be better.

Front desk agent was nice and friendly. The room with most of the amenities are modern. If you are a light sleeper. I would recommend to bring earplugs. You can hear people closing their doors and walking past your room. The area is quiet and not sketchy. Would recommend if you need a small staycation or visiting SCU

Owner was super nice. Avoid room #112 ... its by the stairwell so you hear every one who went up and down. Apparently the carpet was recently removed from upstairs rooms but they should probably put it back to absorb some of the footstep noise. Suggestion to the owner ... when possible fill up your single story building rooms first then, fill up the 2 srory building but staggered so that occupants are not under/over each other... when possible of course ... and fill room #112 last, VERY NOISY!

This is a family owned business. The room is super spacious compared to other chain hotels I stayed in the area before. Very walkable neighborhood with many dining options. Santa Clara University is across the street. Really a good location for campus visit or stay in the area in general.

The gentleman at the front desk was very kind. The place was clean and a good value for stay. Just one criticism is the mattress was terrible. We couldn’t sleep well. It was really hard.

The hotel is as pictured, not a surprise when you get there. There front desk was very friendly. The parking lot was also very clean. The rooms were clean and fresh smelling as well. The only down side was our room had low water pressure, I cant say that for all the rooms though. There are plenty of shopping options close by also. All in all I would stay there again.

The Sterling Inn is not a top of the line boutique hotel and that’s 100% okay! That’s not its lane. It’s a budget motel meant to give the traveler a clean, quiet, safe, and comfortable place to rest, and it does that well. It’s a nicely updated old-style motel: some ground-floor units, a few up-and-down. Again: quiet, clean, decently-appointed. Bed is comfortable, and has both hard and soft pillows. Microwave and fridge. Nice TV. More power points than you can shake a stick at. The Wi-Fi is good and strong, though it did cut off sometime around midnight (which was good, I should have been asleep earlier anyway!). No trouble streaming movies, and I was able to hook up my Roku stick to the TV easily without a lot of faffing around with the network. They save in a few ways that aren’t deal breakers but should be noted. The fridge is, or at least in my room was, a wine cooler, so there’s no freezer. There’s no coffee maker, and if you haven’t brought a mug, no convenient way to make a cup of tea in the morning. There’s only the one chair at the desk, and it’s a plain old wooden chair, so you probably won’t be doing a lot of work from the desk. I still liked it and was comfortable, but I’d put it on the “stay here if you really want to keep the costs down but still have an good place to rest” list. Totally recommend if you need a few nights on a budget.

We got in earlier than check in time, was offered by Ed the front desk manager that they could hold my bags, and then found out they had a cancellation and checked us in early. He also gave us 2 bottles of waters for our room. Ed was very excited we were there and was very accommodating. We asked for a couple extra pillows and those were delivered promptly and with a smile, we felt so welcomed! Ed also gave a great breakfast suggestion that was in walking distance of the hotel. Bill Cafe was amazing! The rooms were comfortable, the bed was a little hard for my liking but didn’t take away from the room and staff. The fridge kept our drinks cold, the shower was hot and I mean really hot, so relaxing!

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Sterling Inn. It is very close to the airport and you can't beat the price. The hotel is very clean and has plenty of free parking. The owner is so nice, and he remembered us when we came in for our second visit. This is definitely our go-to hotel when flying in and out of San Jose.

This property is exactly what we needed. It’s convenient to the freeway, yet far enough from the noise. It’s very convenient to U of Santa Clara for our morning walks and has great breakfast choices also within walking distance. To top it off, the staff is very friendly. We have stayed three times and will keep returning as long as the kids stay in the airport/downtown/Santa Clara/Campbell area.

It’s very convenient to U of Santa Clara for our morning walks and has great breakfast choices also within walking distance. To top it off, the staff is very friendly. We have stayed three times and will keep returning as long as the kids stay in the airport/downtown/Santa Clara/Campbell area.

This is a family owned business. The room is super spacious compared to other chain hotels I stayed in the area before. Very walkable neighborhood with many dining options. Santa Clara University is across the street. Really a good location for campus visit or stay in the area in general.

The hotel is right next to the Santa Clara University campus and there are a lot of great restaurants nearby. Safeway is one block away. Though it is at a bigger intersection, you cannot hear any street noise. The owners are great and very welcoming. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely go back again.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel near the San Jose Airport. It was very clean, updated and in a safe area with cool Arts and Crafts homes nearby. Restaurants were easily walkable. Parking was easy and shopping was nearby. It was in a University area. The manager and house keeper were super nice at check in. Thanks for the pleasant surprise!!

Why the Sterling? It is a low priced, budget alternative to other local motels/hotels. No real extras--bed, shower., etc. Clean, quiet and well located for local biz and especially Santa Clara University. Personnel are welcoming too! Been there for 25 years plus! So this is a place to sleep--not lounge. E.g. we hade a reunion weekend at SCU and this was perfect as we only were there from 9 pm to 9 am each of the two days! Has a desk so can do some work but other than that--- If I were going to suggest an improvement---the towels are "Motel 6"--too thin for a big guy like me! doable but---

I'll begin by saying Ed the host is one of the most pleasant I've come across in my many years of travel. He was so welcoming at check in and throughout the stay. The hotel itself was found to be clean and provided all of my needs. There are many dining options within walking distance from the hotel. This will be my first choice for any future stays in the area.

Great little hotel. Sparkling clean, both outside and in. Ed, at the front desk is charming and a great ambassador for the hotel. My only dings would be no coffee pot in the room and no Kleenex in bathroom. Otherwise great value for price.
