Very clean and nice staff but they shouldn’t advertise a pool if it’s been closed since covid. Also $15 a day for parking is a little outlandish. Finally, they didn’t even have a waffle or breakfast sausage, but they charge $11 per person for breakfast.

Tried this as stopping point on a long drive. Bistros nearby deserted at 8pm and we were told the Grove Bar was going to close early so they stopped serving. There was an arrest by police going on nearby. Hotel itself had no dining except for breakfast. The facility itself was remodeled and modern looking. It was clean. Small details were overlooked though. The bed and pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The commode was not comfort height. The shower pressure was poor and the shower head with insufficient flow made rinsing difficult and prolonged. We paid a modest amount to go on an upper floor to see the city view. We were given a view of the parking lots and flat rooftops. We had to put towels at the bottom of the room door because there was excessive light streaming in from the hallway. There is a $15 charge for parking. We prepaid for our room, but the hotel didn’t “pull the funds” from Expedia so we were charged twice. That took 20 minutes or so in the morning before getaway to straighten that out. Although everyone is a veteran of hotel breakfasts, no one in our party liked the breakfast there. The scrambled eggs had a strange consistency, like dipping dots. The fruit had an odd taste. The coffee wasn’t the best. Hot food was lukewarm. We did enjoy house gazing at lovely Victorian houses at our drive out of town. Overall C . Rate we were charged by Expedia was $185. Probably better value and comfort elsewhere

It seems the property was a good property at some time in the past. The rooms and the facilities are still good but the staff and service are not good - staff and policies are quite rude. Breakfast is not worthy of Hyatt brand. They advertise 24x7 The Market but it is barely stocked. They advertise The Placery but it's been shut down.

The room was not clean and it was extremely noisy throughout the night. The fitness facility was in poor condition and smelled like someone had been smoking in it. It is unfortunate because we have never had a poor experience at a Hyatt in all the ones we stayed in. Will not stay here again.

The Good: The room was clean and comfortable and the free buffet breakfast was good. The Bad: The room technology needed updating. The room phone was too complicated to even call front desk. I had to use my cell phone! The TV itself was very old and the cable offerings were abysmal. The remote was difficult to use (no real menu option - you had to input channel number into remote! I expected a lot better from Hyatt. When I spoke to front desk about my difficulties with the room phone and TV, the front desk person kindly offered to credit me for parking - I didn’t know Hyatt was even charging me for parking! Hyatt also advertised it had 3 EV chargers (two Tesla chargers and one generic charger) for guest vehicles, but upon arrival, it turned out Hyatt only had two Tesla chargers - no generic EV charger at all.

Great check in experience and nice room! Quite clean, and modern decor. Room was a little cold even though we had the heat set high and light from the hallway, under the door, lit up the room. Otherwise, it was comfortable.

I have stayed at the Hyatt place downtown multiple times especially with my family coming down every year as I went to school at UIUC. This weekend I experienced an unpleasant experience, It immediately felt as thought the service was lackluster and the overall vibe of the hotel was not as welcoming as usual. Throughout our stay we noticed other minor things that contributed, when having an issue with the tv at night the front desk belittled my issue telling me to resolve in the morning (which would be after I checked out) and insisting that I must be doing something wrong as he saw someone streaming to a tv downstairs and assured me it was possible instead of offering help. After that we noticed a big downgrade in what used to be complimentary breakfast. We now had to pay for a breakfast that felt less quality than it used to be during prior stays. After speaking with the front desk further, we found out there was recently new management that had taken over and all I have to say is it is very noticeable from a consumers point of view and not in a positive way…

I stayed during the Thanksgiving weekend. When she noticed that my wife appeared to be walking with difficulty from an earlier fall off-property, Aisha at the Front Desk immediately brought out a wheelchair for our use. This was wonderful proactive caring behavior exhibited by the staff of Hyatt Place.

Parking is $15, found that out a week later after the charge hit my cc and I had to call to find out what it was, had been told during my stay parking was free. EVERYTIME my husband or I walked passed the front desk to go leave, someone at the desk asked our room number..it was very annoying and strange. We only stayed one night, room was fine, but I'll consider another place next time I stay in champaign.

Staff that checked us in wasn't friendly ( we had stayed here before but this is the first time we have encountered. I think he became annoyed when we checked in while he was eating his dinner on the table beside the service desk. Every time i asked him a question, his answer make me feel like i am stupid. Definitely not expecting from hyatt personnel!

Love this place! This is our 3rd time staying. Fabulous hotel! Lots within walking distance. Never like to pay for parking or breakfast but that is typical with all downtown hotels. Its worth the price. Stay there again in a heartbeat!

The Good: The room was clean and comfortable and the free buffet breakfast was good. The Bad: The room technology needed updating. The room phone was too complicated to even call front desk. I had to use my cell phone! The TV itself was very old and the cable offerings were abysmal. The remote was difficult to use (no real menu option - you had to input channel number into remote! I expected a lot better from Hyatt. When I spoke to front desk about my difficulties with the room phone and TV, the front desk person kindly offered to credit me for parking - I didn’t know Hyatt was even charging me for parking! Hyatt also advertised it had 3 EV chargers (two Tesla chargers and one generic charger) for guest vehicles, but upon arrival, it turned out Hyatt only had two Tesla chargers - no generic EV charger at all.

We love the room layout with a sectional at one end so one person can watch tv while the other rests. We stay here a few times a year to visit family. Loved the access to the lounge next door. The breakfast buffet is very good. Our favorite gravy for the biscuits!

Very clean and nice staff but they shouldn’t advertise a pool if it’s been closed since covid. Also $15 a day for parking is a little outlandish. Finally, they didn’t even have a waffle or breakfast sausage, but they charge $11 per person for breakfast.

It seems the property was a good property at some time in the past. The rooms and the facilities are still good but the staff and service are not good - staff and policies are quite rude. Breakfast is not worthy of Hyatt brand. They advertise 24x7 The Market but it is barely stocked. They advertise The Placery but it's been shut down.

Brief, but a very nice hotel experience. However, I think that the parking should be free. I hope that the lounge and bar will reopen soon. I would come back. Downtown Champaign has much to offer.

Was a noisy room with Friday night performance somewhere around the hotel after 10 pm, very loud. Breakfast was warm and hearty, with hot oatmeal, fried egg and fruit. The staff asked me why I needed an extra box of facial tissue, a bit awkward.

We arrived on a busy “move-in” weekend so we knew it would be packed. (Side note: we were NOT there to move anyone in to the dorms). Parking is super convenient. It is not free - it was $15/day for us but 100% worth it because the hotel is right in the middle of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The room was spacious and very clean. Decent view of downtown. Nice sitting area which worked well for us because we had a couple of video meetings and paperwork. WiFi is strong. The breakfast was included for our stay. But the hotel was so busy there was no place to sit. The hot food had gotten cold and it was just so crowded. The staff was hustling to keep up with demand; this isn’t a criticism of them. It was just slammed, and that wasn’t a surprise. Move-in weekend happens every year. There’s a bar next door called Punch. Yes. Go there. Buy the wacky themed cocktails. Splurge on the funky drinks. Worth it and you can take the drinks back to your room. All in all a pleasant stay. 4/5 ⭐️ would recommend.
