We really enjoyed our stay at Captain Whitby’s Hotel And Restrunt. We stayed overlooking the pond and we liked the patio area that we could sit. The rooms were simple but clean. The bathrooms were nice and the showers worked well with a good water pressure. Our main complaint was the thin walls. They even tell you when you’re checking in that they have complementary earplugs, they will give you. When the people in the room next to us checked in, we could hear them clearly through the wall talking and had to leave our room so we could have some quiet time so be prepared. We also were disappointed we didn’t get to kayak our first evening. The boats were out with another couple and they said they would let us know when they got returned when I called to check again. They said they weren’t letting anyone else out because orca whales had been spotted in the area. We did get to kayak the next morning, but no one helps you with the kayaks. You have to get into the kayak by yourself from the pier which surprisingly I was able to do with my husband‘s help, we are almost 70 and it would’ve been nice to have had assistance getting out of the boats when we were done. We had a great dinner at the restaurant and the food was delicious. We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary! Although they don’t do anything special for you, no treats in the room or complementary drinks or dessert except they do give you a card. It was a beautiful place to be.

Sand on top of both beds. I think they need to wash the green plaid blankets that are at the end of the beds as I think that’s where the sand is coming from. Other than the sand in our beds, the resort is charming.

Wish the restaurant was open for breakfast. Otherwise, everything was great.

The Captain Whidbey is such a special place to stay on Whidbey Island. It’s a charming historic property surrounded by beautiful scenery. We stayed in a king lagoon room which had a beautiful view. The only negative is the mattress was incredibly hard and uncomfortable. But the property as a whole was lovely and don’t miss out on the restaurant. We had dinner & brunch there, both of which were fantastic.
