Overall it was a great place to stay! Heart of where wanted to be with som much to Dow within walking distance. Really appreciated the security guard they had on staff. Just nice to have someone there at all times. The area we stayed seemed very safe though, Only things I’d say is that we stayed in a junior suite, Nectar room. It was great, but there was this odd sound that would go off very hour or two, seemed like maybe a water heater or something? Never asked but it was a bit annoying when taking an afternoon nap. Didn’t really get to use any other amenities as we just didn’t make or have time. Would definitely stay there again as it was a great choice a boutique hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gala Hotel. The location is excellent and the hotel has so much character. Walking through the property feels like exploring a beautifully restored old mansion, with stunning historic architecture, high ceilings, and unique spaces around every corner. The entrance is beautiful, and we loved the cozy library tucked into one of the hallways with its floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Even the complimentary corn candy in the lobby was a fun little touch. Our room had plenty of charm and definitely lived up to the boutique hotel experience. The bathtub and shower being right in the bedroom was a unique feature that we really enjoyed, and the bathtub itself was deep and high quality. The bed was very comfortable, and although our room didn’t have windows, it ended up being incredibly quiet, giving us one of the best sleeps we’ve had in a city hotel. The heated pool was fantastic, the massages were excellent and one of the highlights of our stay, and the staff made parking quick and easy. My only small criticism was the checkout process. After such a great stay, being asked several questions about whether we’d taken a towel and exactly who the tip was for felt a little awkward and unnecessary. It wasn’t a major issue, but it took away slightly from an otherwise excellent experience. Overall, Gala Hotel is full of history, charm, and personality. If you enjoy unique boutique hotels with character instead of another generic chain, I’d definitely stay again!
