Had a nice stay. Great concept which was unique and fun. However the site was rundown and needed a lot more maintenance. There was no outside dining so breakfast or lunch was rather dark but evening atmospheric. Very few outside chairs to watch the sun or admire the views. We liked swimming in the bay. We stayed in 2 different huts. Queen Nyabinghi was approached by 10 very steep external stairs not shown in the photos. A great resort if you are after something unusual and off the beaten track. Tasty food. Great breakfasts.

As “hotels” go Great Huts really is unique. Huge site with its own private beach, rocks, hammocks etc. Quirky individual “rooms” of varying shapes & sizes “in the jungle” We stayed in Iqbo in the Africanerhouse. With aircon and effectively a private swimming pool. Super friendly staff. Made to order breakfasts. Nice dining facilities too. Outstanding, totally outstanding, jerk food within walking distance.
As “hotels” go Great Huts really is unique. Huge site with its own private beach, rocks, hammocks etc. Quirky individual “rooms” of varying shapes & sizes “in the jungle” We stayed in Iqbo in the Africanerhouse. With aircon and effectively a private swimming pool. Super friendly staff. Made to order breakfasts. Nice dining facilities too. Outstanding, totally outstanding, jerk food within walking distance.

My stay at Great Huts Eco Resort was truly awesome. At first, I was a bit concerned about leaving my equipment, especially since the eco huts are partially open, but everything was safe and secure. The food was okay, and there were also other dining options within close proximity. The live African drumming added an authentic and vibrant touch to the atmosphere. The views were breathtaking, with a marvelous sunrise each morning, and the friendly staff made the experience even more welcoming.

Het is een toplocaties met top personeel, je kan er lekker zwemmen en de accommodaties zijn allemaal verschillend maar allemaal erg mooi Afrikaanse styl. Je kan er heerlijk eten, niks is re veel voor het personeel, wij zullen zr missen

I wish we had more time to explore the property. We only stayed a nite and it rained so we didn't get an opportunity to walk down to the beach. The wifi didn't work in the room but it did in dining area. The guesthouse area on rooftop and walkway needs repairs. The view is stunning.

Great stay at great huts! The staff was amazing, food delicious, and private access to Boston beach perfect - with natural pools to watch the waves crash. I strongly recommend this resort to those who want to experience nature and are not afraid to sleep semi-outside - notwithstanding all the amenities!

For camping glam hut 10/10 unique property and unique huts overlooking a cliff of Boston bay beach extremely friendly staff and next to Boston jerk. Walk beach and food. My only issue was I feel property needs better walkways that are safer and more groundskeeping needs to be done get rid of stagnant ponds Just know this isn't a luxury resort more of a unique camping in a hut treehouse with unique views. Great food at resort too we loved our stay and the people

THE whole experience is unique. The huts are all very unusual, cozy and there are two awesome pools on the property. Having a private beach complete with hammocks and lounge chairs was fantastic.

Great Huts is great. But make sure you know what you are booking. This is not a hotel. It is kinda hard to explain, but cool cabins? We stayed in 5 nights the Queen of Sheba, with two small kids (4 and 7). And they loved it. The whole place is really cool, with loads of small, interesting things. Staff is great. It feels very safe. Two very nice pools. Some notes: There are no windows, just holes in the wall. So suddenly you might get 4 legged visitors (the cat liked our snacks it seems… And as there are no windows, there is no aircon, only fans. And hot water is periodic at best. And you have to request, otherwise they don’t enter your room/hut/cabin. And mosquitos could be an issue. The kids were all eaten up by something one morning. Luckily it didn’t itch at all. They have a private area by the sea, which is very nice, but it is not a beach. So if your kids like playing in the water, it is not ideal. There is sand, and there is water, but a rocky entrance to the water. And the sea is a bit rough here. We did some snorkelling, which was decent, but not great. Saw some rays/turtles, but again, rough waters, so be careful. We found the restaurant to be too expensive, and mostly ate at the jerk centre which is just 50m down the road. But breakfast was good, although be prepared for a bit of a wait when 1 cook is cooking by order to everyone. Overall we would recommend Great Huts as a super place to base yourselves in Portland.

Assolutamente consigliato! Non abbiate alcun timore a dormire nella giungla, non ci sono insetti o animali di nessun genere. Il personale è gentilissimo e le camere stupende.

We spent 3 nights at Great Huts in the Queen of Sheba. We had an amazing experience! From the warm and friendly check in where they provided fresh beetroot, pine and ginger juice, the grounds tour where we learned a lot about the property and Africana House, to the exceptional cleanliness of our huts and the grounds, and lastly the amazing food! We chose to have all of our meals at the resort instead of venturing out to the jerk stalls because the food was just that delicious. What really makes Great Huts shine is the staff! They truly put extra love into everything they do and it really shows. We all felt right at home and like part of the Great Huts family! We will definitely be back and stay longer next time.

L'hébergement semble abandonné, très mal entretenu. Seul le personnel est de qualité. Ils ont été extrêmement gentils et serviables. Mais L'hébergement est clairement surcôté !

An Amazing place to stay if you love Nature....we did! The staff was so friendly and the HUTS were decorated in the most unusual way. Close proximity to beaches and food venues.

What an amazing place! We absolutely loved our long weekend at Great Huts, so much so that we just hung out enjoying the beautiful lush jungle property and adjacent Boston Beach rather than venturing forth to see other sights in the area. This is not for you if you need luxury and a/c, but don’t hesitate if you love nature and being in the great outdoors, quirky artistic hut accommodation, good food and wonderful friendly staff. We especially loved the constant sound of the crashing waves that came with our fabulous Fig Tree hut. Thank you Roberta and everyone else at Great Huts for a truly unique experience.

Interesting and creative huts built out of natural materials. No locks but there are safes in each room. No AC, but there are big nets and fans. Great location and an awesome semi-private beach (local surfers paddle up and hang out there too). Amazingly friendly and attentive staff. Stay here if you want a true Jamaican experience and are ok with uneven ground and creative spaces.

I wish we had more time to explore the property. We only stayed a nite and it rained so we didn't get an opportunity to walk down to the beach. The wifi didn't work in the room but it did in dining area. The guesthouse area on rooftop and walkway needs repairs. The view is stunning.

THE whole experience is unique. The huts are all very unusual, cozy and there are two awesome pools on the property. Having a private beach complete with hammocks and lounge chairs was fantastic.

Amazing experience! We went for our anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience. The staff was amazing. They provided a one of a kind memorable experience. They closed their beach front down and provided a four course anniversary dinner for us. We were given a personal driver for our time there. He was also unbelievable. The staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary one that will never forgotten! We will be going back for a longer vacation. Staying in a tree house is highly recommended to everyone who has a sense of adventure?

The food was decent, but it would be nice to have a little more variety or different options each day. Some of the servers could also use a bit of basic training — for example, my coffee had some grounds in it and came without milk, the toast arrived but no butter or jam, and the juice glass was barely half full. Just a few small improvements like these would make a big difference in the overall experience.

We spent 3 nights at Great Huts in the Queen of Sheba. We had an amazing experience! From the warm and friendly check in where they provided fresh beetroot, pine and ginger juice, the grounds tour where we learned a lot about the property and Africana House, to the exceptional cleanliness of our huts and the grounds, and lastly the amazing food! We chose to have all of our meals at the resort instead of venturing out to the jerk stalls because the food was just that delicious. What really makes Great Huts shine is the staff! They truly put extra love into everything they do and it really shows. We all felt right at home and like part of the Great Huts family! We will definitely be back and stay longer next time.

This place was beautiful and unique, and exactly what I was looking for to relax with my husband. The staff was incredible- went above and beyond for any need. I miss each and every one of them! The grounds and accommodations were fabulous. Rustic, and back to nature- make sure you have running shoes- this is not a place to wear fancy footwear. Bring your deet if you’re prone to bug bites (like me). I faired pretty well, considering. The food was good too- and the complimentary breakfast starts your day off right. Do your research, be prepared, and you will enjoy the beauty surrounding you. One love.

Great Huts is great. But make sure you know what you are booking. This is not a hotel. It is kinda hard to explain, but cool cabins? We stayed in 5 nights the Queen of Sheba, with two small kids (4 and 7). And they loved it. The whole place is really cool, with loads of small, interesting things. Staff is great. It feels very safe. Two very nice pools. Some notes: There are no windows, just holes in the wall. So suddenly you might get 4 legged visitors (the cat liked our snacks it seems… And as there are no windows, there is no aircon, only fans. And hot water is periodic at best. And you have to request, otherwise they don’t enter your room/hut/cabin. And mosquitos could be an issue. The kids were all eaten up by something one morning. Luckily it didn’t itch at all. They have a private area by the sea, which is very nice, but it is not a beach. So if your kids like playing in the water, it is not ideal. There is sand, and there is water, but a rocky entrance to the water. And the sea is a bit rough here. We did some snorkelling, which was decent, but not great. Saw some rays/turtles, but again, rough waters, so be careful. We found the restaurant to be too expensive, and mostly ate at the jerk centre which is just 50m down the road. But breakfast was good, although be prepared for a bit of a wait when 1 cook is cooking by order to everyone. Overall we would recommend Great Huts as a super place to base yourselves in Portland.

What an amazing place! We absolutely loved our long weekend at Great Huts, so much so that we just hung out enjoying the beautiful lush jungle property and adjacent Boston Beach rather than venturing forth to see other sights in the area. This is not for you if you need luxury and a/c, but don’t hesitate if you love nature and being in the great outdoors, quirky artistic hut accommodation, good food and wonderful friendly staff. We especially loved the constant sound of the crashing waves that came with our fabulous Fig Tree hut. Thank you Roberta and everyone else at Great Huts for a truly unique experience.

As “hotels” go Great Huts really is unique. Huge site with its own private beach, rocks, hammocks etc. Quirky individual “rooms” of varying shapes & sizes “in the jungle” We stayed in Iqbo in the Africanerhouse. With aircon and effectively a private swimming pool. Super friendly staff. Made to order breakfasts. Nice dining facilities too. Outstanding, totally outstanding, jerk food within walking distance.

My stay at Great Huts Eco Resort was truly awesome. At first, I was a bit concerned about leaving my equipment, especially since the eco huts are partially open, but everything was safe and secure. The food was okay, and there were also other dining options within close proximity. The live African drumming added an authentic and vibrant touch to the atmosphere. The views were breathtaking, with a marvelous sunrise each morning, and the friendly staff made the experience even more welcoming.

Great Huts is an experience everyone who visits Portland must have! The hospitality is fantastic, and views from literally anywhere on the property are stunning! We saw a moonrise we'll never forget from the side of a cliff. I highly recommend this to anyone with an appreciation for nature and Jamaica.

Great stay at great huts! The staff was amazing, food delicious, and private access to Boston beach perfect - with natural pools to watch the waves crash. I strongly recommend this resort to those who want to experience nature and are not afraid to sleep semi-outside - notwithstanding all the amenities!

For camping glam hut 10/10 unique property and unique huts overlooking a cliff of Boston bay beach extremely friendly staff and next to Boston jerk. Walk beach and food. My only issue was I feel property needs better walkways that are safer and more groundskeeping needs to be done get rid of stagnant ponds Just know this isn't a luxury resort more of a unique camping in a hut treehouse with unique views. Great food at resort too we loved our stay and the people

Never lived in a treehouse before. It was fun to live in a tree and see that terrific sunrise. The meals tasted good but I expected them too be cheaper. Very helpful staff, they got me a bus to go to Montego Bay and a driver to get me to the bus. There assistance was vital.

This is the place to stay if you want to "unplug" and return to nature. Huts are unique and all are amazing. Staff is friendly and food is a 10 !

Always a great place to stay. The staff was friendly and the resort is eclectic and filled with African Art. My children really loved the infinity pool with the view and the beach area. We love that the Queen of Sheba as it has so much space to easily accommodate a big group. The property is quiet and peaceful. You definitely need to be fit to be able to move around the property. I would definitely recommend for families with children, etc. this is our 2nd time residing here and it has always been great experience

A Unique experience. For me who enjoys comfortable surroundings I could only stay here for 2 nights max. Depending on which type of accommodation you stay in, we stayed in the Queen of Sheba family hut. Very spacious, alot fun but rustic. The main reason for visiting this property is for the location andbreathtaking views. The cliffs and sea are beyond beautuful, an experience worth every penny. Staff are non exsistent but friendly enough when you do encounter them. It was a weekday stay maybe they are more present on the weekends.

Unfortunately there was a power outage when we arrived. Tanya was fantastic and made sure to find alternative suitable accommodation for us. I would recommend the hotel for location and price and staff friendliness and would return in the future

My family and I spent one night over our 4 day adventure in Portland. Our first time experiencing an eco-tourism type of accommodation. It was amazing. We stayed in the Fig Tree hut and all I can say is it is the best room of the house. They are undergoing some renovation but no disruption to our stay. The front desk staff, Tania was pleasant and accommodating with a late checkout. She even took it upon herself to verify if we wanted to place a dinner order to the kitchen prior to closure. We would visit again.
