We stayed one night with our two dogs. Very clean, thoughtful touches with having an enclosed dog run area with seating, and prompt customer service. Note that there is no staff on site but you do have a phone # for any issues 24/7.

This small very reasonably priced motel was given mostly excellent reviews and was listed as pet friendly and we were traveling with a dog. We were excited to see that they also didn’t require an extra payment for our dog so we decided to give it a try. We were really pleased that it lived up to the positive reviews. It is very well cared for, tastefully decorated with nice towels and comfortable beds. Although the rooms are not large they were fine for our needs. They have a nice large area behind the motel and away from the highway for dogs to get some exercise and care for their needs. The motel is right long the main highway and there is some traffic noise but we did not find that to be a problem for us. We slept very well. There were fewer amenities such as no boxed tissues, and only dry creamer in the bedroom and they noted that toothbrushes and toothpaste were not available but those things were not issues for us. Although we prefer to have someone in the office to great us, they have a very good system for checking in and are available by phone to answer questions and help with needs. We would we happy to stay there again especially if we were traveling with our dog.

This is a reasonably priced basic motel so it doesn’t have a lot of amenities but it does have a well cared for property and is a very clean and comfortable place to spend the night. It was a good place to take our dog with a nice large backyard area. We enjoyed the quick check-in and checkout arrangement which didn’t need in person staff although they were available by phone. Our room didn’t seem to have air conditioning but the evening was cool enough to have windows open. We stayed there last week one night and we were pleased to go back again for another night on our way back home. We would be happy to stay there again.

There was not a hair dryer in room. Had to go to office to get it. They did not have any ice. Said ice machine was too expensive right now. Room was very small. Beds were ok. The new bathroom was nice but small shower (semi-round corner shower) with hardly any water pressure. Room was clean.

This is a remodeled older motel that is well maintained, clean & very comfortable for an overnight stay. They have beautiful hanging flowering plants and colorful chairs & table with flowers outside each room. The owners are very nice & welcoming. There are trails behind the property & a grill, picnic table with supplies on one side. The road that is in the front can be noisy, but has little to no traffic on it during the night.If you are a large person, the shower is small and you might have difficulty fitting into it. It works well for us. We have stayed here before and will do so again when passing through.

Cute little motel with lovely rooms. Very clean and comfortable. Didn’t meet owners as check-in and continental breakfast are all self service. Food options were adequate. Overall, a great place to stay. Only negative was the shower that was very small. Busy road so kinda noisy in the afternoon.

Room 11 was ridiculously adorable! Impeccably clean. And Michael answered my call and texts promptly. We want to stay here again in the summertime. (I know some reviews complained about the road noise, but what did they expect from a “motel”. It’s in the name. It was fine for us.)

Rooms were clean and good for price. However we had two rooms and the bathrooms were completely different in each room. One was very tiny with no counter space so a larger person would definitely have a problem in that room.. The other was much larger and nicer.

This property suited my purpose of having a base for exploring. Was clean. Some improvements were done but don't expect a new property. Although on the main highway which was very loud at times, I was able to sleep. I would like to suggest a hand held shower head for the shower. I am a short person and the shower is SMALL, I had a hard time maneuvering to not get constantly drowned by the shower. Also, I never saw anyone that worked (or property owners) at all. I assume they were around somewhere. Overall, I'd say about a 7 out of 10. The first thing I always look at is the cleanliness and it was a clean room and property.

Cute little roadside motel. I liked that prior to arrival i received a text message with the door code as they do virtual management and you dont check in at an office. The room was very small, but good for just my husband and i. The room was impeccably clean. Only complaint was the mattress was very firm and the AC didnt keep up, but other than that it was great!

Cute renovated old school motel. Quarters are tight, be warned if you are a group of more than 1 or 2 people. Tiny shower but very clean and very functional setup. Lots of semis and logging trucks all night, pretty close to the highway but we ran the fan on high to give some white noise. Huge backyard area with ATV trail access, great for us traveling with a dog who needed to run after a long car ride!

For a motel in this area this place was below average due to the close proximity, 200 feet, to a main highway with a speed limit of 65 mph and used extensively 7/24 by semi traffic. When there are moments of no traffic the train horns, operated by an over enthusiastic operator, will catch your attention. If both of those are absent the hum from the refrigerator will provide you with some white noise. If you are a very sound sleeper, this might be fine.

This little 10 room motel was a treat. Very clean, comfortable bed, easy check in, etc. The bathroom was small but had been updated with a nice shower. A shelf over the toilet is suggested as there was no place to put toiletry bags, toothbrushes, etc. Night light in the bathroom and very good lamps on the nightstands was appreciated. Too many places have poor lighting. There was a nice table with pull out stools that we used to eat a sandwich. Only drawback is the road noise but like others have said turning the fan on helped block that out during the night. I’d stay there again!

The Hillcrest appears to have been a motor inn long ago, but has been refurbished and refreshed with care and an eye for clean, modernized accommodations for customers. The primary colored chairs on the front walkway are cheery and welcoming as are the staff who are extremely friendly and helpful. Huge hanging baskets of healthy, fresh flowers add to the welcoming ambiance. Check-in was a breeze. The location was convenient to area restaurants and an easy drive to other sites on the UP. The inn is located in front of some woodlands where the owners have thoughtfully cleared a walking path for customers. Although we don't travel with pets, they have pet-friendly rooms and an enclosed area for dogs to play and enjoy fresh air. I would definitely recommend staying here and would do so myself if I am in the area again!

Staff came to my room and wanted me to park my motorcycle on the grass. I will not do that as I am traveling with a trailer and easy to dump the bike over. The staff started to argue with me about that and I asked if I could park infront of the room. He kept arguing with me and said that I could? I had to slam the door on him...NEVER have I had a problem anywhere else Pix can be seen if you want.

The room was clean. No coffee available in the room or in the lobby, staff suggested the coffee shop down the block. Came back to the hotel after dinner and found the lobby desk closed with a rollup door.

I'm so glad I found this place! My room was very cute and cozy. Very clean and comfortable. It was just the basics, but thats all i needed. It was different because they do virtual check ins and dont have staff on-site, but it honesly made this very easy. If anything, update the take-out menus in the room. They were very old and had incorrect information. Loved this place and i will come back if im ever passing through again!

We booked 2 rooms, one of the rooms was not cleaned. Never came in any physical contact with staff, kind of weird, but called the phone number listed on the door and we were taken care of right away and were offended a clean room. Would like to see live staff though.

Looks great from photos. Check in was a basket with envelopes with everyone's names on them, with the room number and key. No one on site. Self serve for extra amenities. Very cramped, kept running into the metal bed frame and legs. Had issue with the TV, the owner came quickly to rectify the problem. Just a strange experience. Don't like everyone knowing who I am and what room I was in.

This little roadside motel was truly a gem. So cute, comfortable and clean. Close to many attractions in the upper peninsula area. We are at a local place named Jack's that was delicious. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. Would definitely stay here again if we get back that way.

This is a reasonably priced basic motel so it doesn’t have a lot of amenities but it does have a well cared for property and is a very clean and comfortable place to spend the night. It was a good place to take our dog with a nice large backyard area. We enjoyed the quick check-in and checkout arrangement which didn’t need in person staff although they were available by phone. Our room didn’t seem to have air conditioning but the evening was cool enough to have windows open. We stayed there last week one night and we were pleased to go back again for another night on our way back home. We would be happy to stay there again.

It was a quaint little stay . Room was a bit tiny but comfortable. If you are bothered by the road noise, not the place for you, I had no issue with as I am use to sleeping close to RR tracks. No breakfast but plenty of nearby places in Escanaba.

Cute renovated old school motel. Quarters are tight, be warned if you are a group of more than 1 or 2 people. Tiny shower but very clean and very functional setup. Lots of semis and logging trucks all night, pretty close to the highway but we ran the fan on high to give some white noise. Huge backyard area with ATV trail access, great for us traveling with a dog who needed to run after a long car ride!

It was perfect for a quick place to stay on the way to our vacation. It was clean, has many updates. Easy to find, but not walkable distance to anything and is noisy as it is on the highway, although the room air conditioner drowned out the highway noise.

We were traveling between Minnesota and the Lower Peninsula and just needed a place to sleep. The motel was a through-back to earlier times along Highway 2, but it had recently been remodeled, was clean, and although we were next to Hwy 2, it was quiet during the night. I would stay here again.

The room was clean. No coffee available in the room or in the lobby, staff suggested the coffee shop down the block. Came back to the hotel after dinner and found the lobby desk closed with a rollup door.

I'm so glad I found this place! My room was very cute and cozy. Very clean and comfortable. It was just the basics, but thats all i needed. It was different because they do virtual check ins and dont have staff on-site, but it honesly made this very easy. If anything, update the take-out menus in the room. They were very old and had incorrect information. Loved this place and i will come back if im ever passing through again!

Absolutely loved it. It's a very small and quaint place. The room was clean & they offered a very nice variety of snacks and coffee/tea for guests. Furnishings and decor in my room was dated but in good condition and clean. It gives cabin vibes. There is also a nice trail for guests to walk located behind the building. I would definitely stay there again!

Cute little motel with lovely rooms. Very clean and comfortable. Didn’t meet owners as check-in and continental breakfast are all self service. Food options were adequate. Overall, a great place to stay. Only negative was the shower that was very small. Busy road so kinda noisy in the afternoon.
