First impressions of room were good, has a wow factor, but closer inspection revealed a layer of dust on many surfaces. Also only a couple of towels between two of us but reception brought up a couple more when requested. Bed was comfortable and room a good size. No safe in room or fridge. Despite that our stay was comfortable and the food we had in the evening was decent.

I like the hotel. Lovely, helpful staff. I don\'t think there\'s a lift, if that\'s important to you. Parking is limited, but there\'s a good car park very nearby, with free overnight, and you can buy your pay and display in advance. The corporation behind the hotel plagued me with endless unnecessary emails in respect of the booking. They don\'t take cash. And their credit card system was down in the am when I went to pay for the breakfast I had. "May we put it on the credit card you paid for the room with?" Well, that would have been okay, but they didn\'t have it, as I\'d paid via Expedia. The corporation needs to sort this out for the lovely staff who work so hard, only to be put in an impossible position by un-imaginative corporate policies an dpenny pinching,

I have been staying here for a decade, but recent upgrades are very welcome. They have transformed a quaint but dated hotel into a fabulous 4 star hotel with a very interesting history. Great pub and restaurant integrated into the hotel as well. Highly recommended.

Very old hotel, no AC, but a fan provided. Rom is well decorated and bathroom completely renovated. Close to food, shopping and the train station. We didn’t eat here, but a place called Wetherspoons is 100m away and has awesome prices on food/drink. Overall a great stay!

Normally I rate this hotel as excellent all round. Staff are really good. It’s just getting pricey now vs other places. The top floor rooms are unbearable in the heat we’ve had, and sadly the fan provided wouldn’t blow out a candle ! Prices for food are ok, but question the value of some - Yorkshire Pudding bites on the sharers consisted of 1 Yorkshire pudding cut into 4 pieces, and served with a gravy dip for £6.00 but only if you order 3 sharers. I get everything has risen in price but feel you are pushing the profit a little too far.

It is an older building. Well, given that Peter The Great (Russia) slept there, I guess it would be. That said, fixtures and fittings all work well. No lift, though if that's important to you. Charming staff. In heart of lovely small town. Nice public rooms.

Great hotel, made even better by the staff and the lovely welcome you receive each time you check In. Rooms are very quirky (and some creaky) but just adds more character to the stay. Food really nice and a very good selection on offer. Small car park but large public car park within a very short walk.

convenient location. The old building makes for a few minor problems getting round. Bathroom was spotless. Would have welcomed a lamp on the desk as it was hard to write in the dark! BBC 1 did not work on the TV but other channels were fine.

The room was absolutely charming full of character, with the floor sloping down to the bathroom ! Coffee /tea biscuits and bespeaks machine, comfy king size bed, Good choice of channels on TV, bathroom modern, the floor wasn’t as clean as it could have been and dusty fake plant. The staff were helpful and friendly. We did not eat in the hotel. The walls are very thin and we could hear everything our neighbours were saying and very noisy in the morning with the street noise and people standing outside their rooms chatting at 7am. Not the hotels fault, but didn’t get that much needed lay-in !

Always a pleasure to stay at the Kings Arms. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and professional. Rooms are clean and have all amenities. Showers could do with a deep clean around the silicon fastenings. Otherwise they are fine. My no.1 preference for a stay in Godalming.

Hair in bathroom on first day, otherwise pretty clean. Staff nice and tried to be helpful but my 15 year old godson had a very easy time booking cab, when the hotel couldn’t with their preferred vendor. Room was very small (even though cute). Some sort of radiator kept going on and off outside the room, I think all day and night. Great central location. Pretty hotel. As expected.

Staff are friendly, good location in the centre of town, stayed in room at the end of the corridor, shower was a bit tired & needed some re-grout work, the Internet didn't reach the room I was in - no coverage on my phone & Netflix didn't work (network error message on screen).

Lovely old hotel with beautiful rooms in a pretty area. Good cooked breakfasts but limited continental choice. Our room wasn't serviced despite asking twice for this to happen. Maybe staff shortage? Service needs a little more atrention to detail and more management supervision e.g. no orange juice avaliable one morning as it wasn't refilled, given a broken coffee cafetiere on both mornings, as the room wasn't serviced we had an unmade bed, full litter bins and had to ask for milk etc to.be replenised. Unwashed cups and the bottled water we asked for never appeared. At close on £200 a night and a 4 star rating I would have expected better. Would I stay there again? Yes I would as it is a lovely hotel but I would have been expecting compensation for tge shortcomings. Hopefully this wouldn't be an issue a second time

Staff amazing and dealt with a couple of issues in a courteous and professional manner. A team to be proud of. Special call out for Leo and Brenda. Great place. Will definitely look out for the other venues in the group. And will be back here.

I like the hotel. Lovely, helpful staff. I don\'t think there\'s a lift, if that\'s important to you. Parking is limited, but there\'s a good car park very nearby, with free overnight, and you can buy your pay and display in advance. The corporation behind the hotel plagued me with endless unnecessary emails in respect of the booking. They don\'t take cash. And their credit card system was down in the am when I went to pay for the breakfast I had. "May we put it on the credit card you paid for the room with?" Well, that would have been okay, but they didn\'t have it, as I\'d paid via Expedia. The corporation needs to sort this out for the lovely staff who work so hard, only to be put in an impossible position by un-imaginative corporate policies an dpenny pinching,

Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms nicely presented and clean. Bed comfortable but the pillows as hard as rock! I would recommend changing them in Room 102. I have only given 3 stars for service because cash is not accepted at the bar and when I came to check out there is no card machine. I always pay on my phone but luckily on this occasion I had a credit card with me. I would strongly recommend management review their payment methods. I regularly use hotels and your payment methods are unusual.

A short overnight stay as I work regularly in Godalming and there are currently a number of road and rail travel issues. From checking in to checking out every engagement with staff and with the standards and values of great hospitality were apparent. Well trained staff delivering great service and a memorable experience.

We were in Godalming for an Ultra Marathon and the location was perfect as it backed into the event village where the start and finish was. The staff were really friendly and attentive to us after we had finished the marathon. The property was lovely and relaxing with good facilities 🙌

Lovely hotels friendly staff, location is on the high street bins are emptied at 5am then general shop deliveries so don’t expect much sleep from then if your room is in the front of the hotel.

Very old hotel, no AC, but a fan provided. Rom is well decorated and bathroom completely renovated. Close to food, shopping and the train station. We didn’t eat here, but a place called Wetherspoons is 100m away and has awesome prices on food/drink. Overall a great stay!

Nice hotel in the centre of town, staff are friendly but I always get woken up by the bins being pulled/dragged through the hotel courtyard from the rear of the hotel at 5am in the morning!

Hair in bathroom on first day, otherwise pretty clean. Staff nice and tried to be helpful but my 15 year old godson had a very easy time booking cab, when the hotel couldn’t with their preferred vendor. Room was very small (even though cute). Some sort of radiator kept going on and off outside the room, I think all day and night. Great central location. Pretty hotel. As expected.

The Hotel is well situated right on the high street of Godalming and a 10min walk from the station. The staff were super helpful, friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious but cosy. With everything you would need for an overnight or long stay..... with the coffee machine as an extra little bonus. I would certainly recommend.

Staff are friendly, good location in the centre of town, stayed in room at the end of the corridor, shower was a bit tired & needed some re-grout work, the Internet didn't reach the room I was in - no coverage on my phone & Netflix didn't work (network error message on screen).

Myself and my parents stayed here for 2 nights as a stop off on the way to our destination. It was a lovely hotel, very clean, stylish and the rooms were huge. Every single member of staff that we met were super friendly, helpful and would go above and beyond for their customers. We decided to eat in the restaurant both nights of our stay for dinner and breakfast which was lovely. Very delicious food, affordable prices and great service! Massive compliments to the chef as every single dish we had was divine. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a little break!

Parking limited, first come first served, but good if you can get a space. Check in was good but not over friendly. First impressions of room were good, has a wow factor, but closer inspection revealed a layer of dust on many surfaces. Also only a couple of towels between two of us but reception brought up a couple more when requested. Bed was comfortable and room a good size. No safe in room or fridge. Despite that our stay was comfortable and the food we had in the evening was decent.

I liked the look of this place. The decor and furnishings are nice. The breakfast was good though there was no coffee from the machine as 'it would take too long'. Overall it was good value and I would stay again. Thanks!

Lovely old hotel with beautiful rooms in a pretty area. Good cooked breakfasts but limited continental choice. Our room wasn't serviced despite asking twice for this to happen. Maybe staff shortage? Service needs a little more atrention to detail and more management supervision e.g. no orange juice avaliable one morning as it wasn't refilled, given a broken coffee cafetiere on both mornings, as the room wasn't serviced we had an unmade bed, full litter bins and had to ask for milk etc to.be replenised. Unwashed cups and the bottled water we asked for never appeared. At close on £200 a night and a 4 star rating I would have expected better. Would I stay there again? Yes I would as it is a lovely hotel but I would have been expecting compensation for tge shortcomings. Hopefully this wouldn't be an issue a second time

Really impressive hotel with lots of nice, original touches. I had a single room which retained lots of original features but with a really smart, modern bathroom. Great night's sleep even though the room overlooked the main high street (Godalming is a quiet town after 10pm) Breakfast was delicious using local foods

Friendly service with a comfortable room and coffee service. The bed was very comfortable with excellent on suit shower. On arrival the room was very cold, the heating should really be switched on. Breakfast was poor, a half of a small tomato and hard bacon that you couldn't cut.

Great hotel, made even better by the staff and the lovely welcome you receive each time you check In. Rooms are very quirky (and some creaky) but just adds more character to the stay. Food really nice and a very good selection on offer. Small car park but large public car park within a very short walk.

Its a great hotel with some great staff but completely let down by its restaurant. The positives are that this is a lovely and comfortable hotel and oozes history. Our room was very nice and comfy and we slept well. However.... The restaurant manager on our visit was scruffy and did not tuck his shirt in. He didnt ask about allergies and didnt ask if our food was ok. The waitress seemed very inexperienced, did the basics and also did not ask if our food was ok. We paid a reasonably high price for a cumberland sausage + mash meal and a gourmet steak and ale pie meal. The sausage tasted cheap though there was plenty of it, it was no better than a standard supermarket sausage and was not a cumberland. My wifes meal was worse. Vegetables were practically uncooked and hard. The pie was awful. Bullets of steak too hard to chew and plastic pastry. She ate two mouthfuls so 90% was left on the plate. Nothing was said when our plates were collected and it was obvious we didnt like the food. We did not have the confidence to try the breakfast in the morning. However the breakfast manager was a lovely lady and was upset we had a bad meal so did not charge us. There is better food and service at wetherspoons a few doors down the street for half the price. We went there for breakfast. Not fancy but hit the mark. However I would stay in the hotel again as it is a lovely place but maybe book one of the nice restaurants in town as there is plenty of choice.

The Kings Arms is a charming property with very helpful staff, they were all fantastic throughout my whole stay. There are lots of shops and restaurants around and Godalming is a lovely town full of character.

An old coaching inn rather than a hotel. Accommodation area dated. Room was small with big bathroom, well equipped but needed updating. Shower was broken. Certainly not the claimed 4 stars. Bar was pleasant and the breakfast good, spoilt by overcooked eggs. Staff very helpful. Very limited parking, max 4 spaces, which seemed to be permanently full.
