If you are looking for somewhere special to stay is Udaipur then this is it. Everything is brilliant and you get early access to the Palace Museum grounds so you can get in early and take pictures on your own. Food at the restaurant was great, both Indian and Asian styles. One starter is large enough for two people,. We would stay again.

We had changed from the Taj Lake to the Taj Palace because of a rude email, and it would seem the Taj group in general needs basic training in customer relations, as it was no better at this one. This was not a positive experience and as the restaurants are in public space, you get questioned with “what room are you,” when going back into the hotel. Sadly there seems to only be a focus on money but zero on guest experience. Pro- One kind guest relations officer who organized cough medicine for us. Cons- Accessibility prior to check in and post checkout. It got to the unbearable point. I was confused had I not paid to stay at this hotel? Increase rudeness by staff at gates, especially if you pay and go to museum. Had to prove we had been staying at hotel to get access back by one of the rudest people ever. Literally had to find the booking on my phone and show I was a guest of the hotel. This happened another two times. Why does the hotel not give you a day pass if you no longer have, or yet to have a room key. The windows of the room do not open so no fresh air. Left absolutely hating this experience and will never book with the Taj group ever again.

The hotel was set in a beautiful location with stunning views. The rooms were spotless, and the staff was exceptionally helpful. The highlight of the stay was the fantastic breakfast spread along with the breathtaking views. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This is an absolutely gorgeous location on the water and the staff and hospitality is superb! Bed was also very comfortable! My only complaint is that the hotel very seriously needs to upgrade its electrical outlets and furniture.

Staying within the City Palace is a double-edged sword: you get historic opulence, but deal with cramped rooms and dated plumbing. The biggest drawback was the logistics. Since ride-shares cannot easily pass the main palace gate, ordering an Uber was a constant struggle. Getting a cab to the airport turned into a 30-minute ordeal, eventually forcing us to use the hotel’s shuttle at four times the price. Furthermore, the hotel’s internal golf carts were unreliable; once we had to wait 15 mins for one, one night at 11:00 PM, the guard couldn't reach reception, and we were forced to walk up the hill ourselves. Staff communication was equally frustrating. While everyone was incredibly kind, their information was consistently contradictory. For example, when we inquired about the hotel’s walking tour, the receptionist told us to meet at the desk at 3:55 PM. When we showed up, a different staff member informed us the tour actually started elsewhere and sent us on a golf cart to a crowded gate with no further instructions. While the hospitality was warm, the lack of coordination and inaccurate information—issues easily solved with better training—made for a lackluster stay.
