Qube Hotel - Polk City

The property was very close to the tournament golf course. The bed was comfortable. I didn't have any shampoo or hair conditioners. Only bidy lotion. The hand towel was wrinkled and it could handwashed and squeezed out and air dry or washed but was not use a dryer. It was wrinkle and very cheap and thin looking. Stained on hand towel. Towels were not soft, it was hard. Bold lock on the door was nit working on my arrival and I had to go to the front desk and ask them to fix it. It was fix on the next day. I am very big in customer service and their customer service was poor. I arrived and the guy was on the phone and I had to wait for him to get off the phone and check me in. He just ignored me.

Very nice hotel. Nice deck off a golf course. Clean and modern.

The property was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the balaceny at sunset talking with the fire lite.

A discount simple stay. Very clean. As an elderly person that has difficulty with stairs I was told at check in that they could not give me a first floor room. The room we got was the farthest from front door. No elevator, parking is not close to the door due to landscaping. Found it very difficult to load and unloading. Breakfast is packaged Hoe Hoes, Breakfast is very limited. The place gives you the creeps as security cameras all over with signs of video and audio monitoring taking place. Not sure if room was being monitored or not but we were cautious. Towels were limited, two per room and very thin. Refrigerator made noise and kept us awake at night. Neighbor room had tv going all night, very loud but no staff is available.

The property itself was acceptable.The rooms were nice sized and well maintained. I have a heart condition. There is no elevator and we were given a 2nd floor room and told nothing was available on the 1st floor On Saturday morning they quit serving their complimentary breakfast at 9:00 am and there is no other restaurant in Polk City to get breakfast.

There is plenty of parking -even room for trailers, boats or golf carts. We stayed 3 days and we were one of 2 cars in the parking lot each night. It was eerily quiet with the exception of the hostess who spent her time on her phone with the video and music blaring and sitting in the lounge area. I had gone out in the morning to do some studying and reading while my husband slept and there was that going on. Our TV never worked despite the proprietors unplugging it several times in attempt to fix it. I got tired of asking about it. Our sink was clogged so made it a little hard to wash your hands or brush your teeth. Asked the proprietor to fix it while we were gone and they sent an older lady in to snake it and she quickly fixed it. It is obvious there is an extended family living on premises, however they make use of the kitchen atea and lounge area as their living room so it makes it uncomfortable to be there. Next is the breakfast area. After Two days the fruit available (2apples and 2 oranges) had been there for some time and were all wrinkly. I peeled the orange and it was all mealy - so threw it and the other one away. Same with the apples. By third day there wasn’t any fruit. The bread was expired by 3 days so didn’t try it. The other options were Twinkie's and chocolate chip cupcakes. There was the option of waffles, cereal and yogurt. Except the yogurt only carbs available and I wouldn’t know how long the cereal was there or if it was expired. Overall not good

Very basic amenities, limited breakfast, besides check in, never saw any staff, external doors lock early. It basic as basic can get!

The breakfast options: dispensed coffee, packaged muffins, dispensed fruit juice, 3 kinds of cereal, or plain waffles from a machine, The exercise room: dumbbells up to 20lbs, a treadmill, an elliptical, yoga equipment, and a massage chair. The room: something was smeared on the wall in several places. The shower pressure was very low at all settings.

Great location close to TCI Golf course and a beautiful view of the course. The lobby was extremely hot (thermostat set to 80) on a 90-degree day, I was told I shouldn't blame the front desk staff if my room were wrong and we got locked out of our room. Also no elevator so bringing in our clubs and luggage was a pain.

We picked a Jacuzzi room for our anniversary. The property is stunning. The Jacuzzi worked fine. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of room. Breakfast is basic but they have the Belgian waffles that every hotel should have. Had the tub worked, it would be a solid 5/5. The room appeared clean. There was no musty smell other hotels have had. The air conditioning was not turned on before we got there, so the room was extremely warm (I believe the reading was close to 80°). When I went to shower before using the Jacuzzi, a huge spider (quarter sized probably) floated out of the drain. The tub then also didn't drain for probably 10 minutes despite only running the water long enough to try to get the spider to go back down the drain. The water left hairs and the spider still in the tub. We decided against using the Jacuzzi that night, the main reason for picking the more expensive room. I told the man who I believe is the owner about the issue when we left in the morning. He told us they would look into it right away and get it solved. We came back at around 1pm to prepare for our night time event and tested the drain again with no luck. We figured this was due to the time we came back and hoped it would be done before we came back at 9pm that evening. It was not fixed. We showered (quickly) anyway so that we could use the Jacuzzi.

Very clean and quiet hotel

Hotel rooms were dirty, and was infested with ants and had moldy carpet under the bathroom sink from a leak that was still ongoing. Asked to move my room and manager told me he had no more rooms, and came and sprayed Raid bug spray all over my room and then left the bottle and told me to spray more if I wanted to. Moved my room the next day but room had black mildew in the bathroom. Manager apologized about the bugs and said he would give me a discount and for a $400+ bill, he credited me $16. Ridiculous to have to sleep in those conditions and all I was refunded was $16.

Spiders everywhere other than that great place good staff!

Had bed bugs didn’t stay long, drove home at 2am.

First I will say something positive. This is a fairly nice hotel in a nice, safe neighborhood. It has a wonderful view and access to the golf course. However...When I checked in there was no one at the desk at 5pm. You have to call to get the staff to come down from their room at any time. They gave me the room key and I checked the room and it was not the one I reserved. I reserved a studio with a king bed and they gave me a room with 2 queen beds. Their response is they were all the same price... after standing my ground they did however give me the room I had reserved. When I went to the new room the sheets were dirty and had not been changed but the bed was made over them. I could not operate the TV as the battery to the remote was dead, and the mini fridge did not work. They did give new sheets when asked and gave new batteries for the remote. The next morning the continental breakfast really wasn't... a jug of milk in the cooler and some dry cereal set out with a "Make your own waffle" machine. Not good enough for it to be a consideration in the stay or as a point of advertising they have one. The management was amicable enough when asking them to fix the issues... but the problems should not exist in the first place if you want people to return to your hotel.

Whenever I stay at a hotel my number one requirement is cleanliness. This hotel was very clean. Our room and bathroom was very nice. We felt safe there. Enjoyed our stay and will be back if we are ever in the area again.

After we checked out the woman told my daughter were getting charged extra for the extra people because we weren't to have that many in the room. Mind you it was 2 queen beds. You could hear people walking up the hall, above you and through the walls. The breakfast left alot to be desired, cereal, waffles, hostess cupcakes and twinkies, coffee and juice. It wasn't horrible but wasn't great either. We won't be staying again.

People staying above us were thumping around a lot about 5:30 AM with heavy footfalls going back and forth across the room. Not sure what was going on, but next time I think we would like to be on the second floor.

I stay here every year in July and this time was disappointing. I have always got a room on the first floor (and thought it was because the type of room I get, King suite). Well that’s not the case, my room was on the second floor and found out there’s no elevator. After 5+ years, I didn’t know until now. Then get to my room which was overlooking the parking lot, again thought because of my room type is why I always got a room looking at the golf course. It was hot in the room, no air flowing at all, turned on the AC and it was hardly blowing, that was because the filter had not been cleaned, it was pretty bad. I took them out for the night so it would get cool. I’ve usually had ok to good experiences in the past with this hotel but this time was disappointing.

Bed was very comfortable. My room was nice and clean with the perfect view of the golf course.

The room was entirely too hot. Upon arrival the ac in the room hadn’t even been turned on. It was some of the hottest August days and we most were looking forward to a nice cold room. Bathroom smelled kind of sour. Looked clean though. Pillows are super think. It was OK for one overnight.

Overall we were happy here, but a little disappointed that the AC hadnt been turned on prior to us coming. It had been 90+ degrees that day and our room was a sauna and took forever to cool down. Falling asleep was a bit tough, but only because of temperature. The bed was comfy.

The front desk person told us there's no elevator. We had a senior and a baby. We had a baby stroller We just couldn't carry the baby and luggage and the stroller down stairs. The front desk person told us although there was no elevator It was not his job to help take luggages and stroller down the stairs when we asked help. We struggled to get the baby and stroller down in front of the staff members. They pretended they didn't see us and offered no help. Terrible place for seniors, people with children or people with disabilities.

We came in to check in and the man behind the desk was too busy texting to assist us.

The manager of the hotel is really nice! He had me checked in and room cards ready upon arrival. Could not have asked for a better experience. 🙂

One of the nicest places i’ve ever stayed. Clean, great people own it. Had packages shipped and he set them at my door.

Room was very clean. Front desk never had anyone present. Always had to call someone. Front desk worker seemed to be sleeping in the lobby area when we arrived. The continental breakfast was horrible. Some food was outdated and fruit old and getting dried up or rotten. Had to ask for coffee to be made for breakfast. The bathtub shower barely drained. It is in a quiet location adjacent to a golf course with lovely views. Just needs some staff education/inservicing.

There was an on site person checking us in who was on his phone and seemed so bothered that we were there. Later in the evening we asked for a 3rd towel. He stated that there are two per room and non available. When I asked to explain he felt he didn’t need to. I said ok I will make sure I leave a review. He threatened to call the police because he didn’t like what I said. He followed me to my room where my daughter was undressed from the bath she took, which was the reason we asked for the towel. He then started barking that we need to leave. My wife and daughter startled and crying. I picked up my phone to call the police and he immediately changed his whole demeanor. Many guests were witnesses. Unbelievable. Unbelievable experience. That man will be the reason that hotel gets a bad name

We needed somewhere close to the High Trestle Trail. The Qube Hotel was convenient, clean, friendly, and quiet. We were able to us the main lobby area to watch a football game with friends. I would stay here again.

liked how close it was to the golf course, I took a road trip to play golf with my grandkids and friends and the Qube over looked the 17th and 18 holes could almost walk to the club house

Nestled surprisingly close to a golf course, the Qube Hotel was a fantastic find. We chose it for its convenient location, as it was only about a 20-minute drive to Iowa State for a football game. The hotel is also just a few blocks away from several bars and restaurants, making it a great spot for an evening out. The owners were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable. Their genuine warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip.

It’s in a very quiet residential area. There is a golf course in back that’s visible from rooms on back side. We saw deer in the evening.

Clean and comfortable! Breakfast was very meager at 8 am. 1 item of fruit, nothing hot except coffee. It's a nice quiet location with a beatiful view out the back.

This location is great because it is close to my kids. They say that breakfast is included, but we always have to go elsewhere for breakfast. They have one waffle maker and cold cereal. The cereal I got was marked Frosted Flakes. It mostly was, but mixed in was Captain Crunch. In the bread display box, they just have packaged Little Debbie treats.

This is a Iowa hidden gem. The hotel is very clean, beds are good, great view from the deck. The only down fall was breakfast in the morning. It was a little weak. Over all we will be back! Great value!
