The Marble Arch Hotel, by Thistle

The first impression of the hotel is not very favourable at the moment (February 2025); the main entrance is under renovation so entry happens through a narrow stairway with two-way traffic (that is often ignored by other guests). It feels like entering a casino through a back door. I'm sure things will be improved once the main entrance renovations are completed. I was a bit nervous about the elevator situation due to complaints in previous reviews, but I had no problems at all in that regard. The Executive King room was spacious, clean and pleasant. No complaints whatsoever. The water pressure in the shower was adequate and the water was very hot. The complimentary snacks were a nice touch. The breakfast was odd. Very poor selection if you need protein in the morning! There were scrambled eggs but no bacon, sausages or beans. The rest was mostly baked goods. We ended up skipping the breakfast after the first day, even though it was included in the Executive room rate. As others have mentioned, the hotel seems to be very popular with Middle Eastern guests, which perhaps explains the lack of pork options at breakfast. All of the signs are in English and Arabic. The service was just "fine"/average. Nothing up, nothing down. I'm a bit surprised by the glowing reviews naming specific staff members, as none provided us with exceptional service. There was no bellhop service offered. Due to the pleasant room and great location of the hotel, I would be happy to return.

Great property, but two of the four elevators were down for service. This lead to longer than usual lines to use the elevators. It wasn’t unusual for the elevator to be full on our way down in the morning, which meant we had to wait awhile for another elevator to come and hope there was enough room for the two of us.

The hotel room itself was as represented, Spacious clean and nice amenities. I should've been told however that this lobby and entrance was under construction. Very very inconvenient, Not in the least bit attractive or impressive... A very small space to get into an out of the building, Entrance was always crowded

Amazing location, clean and big rooms, but not possible (!) to access reception or leave hotel by the stairs, only small elevators, one of which were not working, and we spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to leave, especially at checkout time.

Main complaint was that there are only two slow elevators that hold 12 people for a big hotel containing over 500 rooms (approximately), and these two seemed to work independently so they would travel up and down together.

It was so close to shops and restaurants. Their club lounge was an added amenity to our room.

Great hotel in the middle of the city, very accessible via the tube and buses. The hotel was doing some renovations in the lobby, but they kept the site neat and safe. the only downfall was the bar and bar staff, they have no idea on what Customer Service is or needs to be, waited at the bar for almost 20 minutes while other customers were being serve by the staff.

There are only two working lifts. Therefore very long waits and crowded conditions. No evidence anything being done to correct this.

DO NOT STAY HERE. It is quite possibly the worst hotel i’ve ever stayed in. This reminds of a Motel 6, chipped furniture, barely hanging on shower heads, broken locks, used scrunchies left over from the previous guests, hair wrapped around handheld shower nozzle, dirty mirrors, carpet stains. Also got bitten by a spider in the bed sheets during my stay. The rooms are dirty in general as well. A certain type of community stays here and it is very clear this hotel is geared towards them. As an American I did not feel welcome and even got dirty looks and felt threatened for my safety when wearing something that religion deems “unacceptable”. It is perfectly acceptable in British and American standards but since in their culture it is only acceptable to be covered up the people I had interactions with were very unfriendly and hostile. I tried to cancel and book elsewhere but Expedia and the hotel had a no cancellation policy, I couldn’t even reduce my stay and therefore was subjected to this environment. The only positive of my stay was there was free water. The buffet was also way overpriced and the concierge was very unhelpful they knew nothing of the area. Overall I had an extremely unpleasant experience and would never ever stay here again. I highly caution all other tourists considering booking a reservation.

Great location, quiet, clean and lovely spacious room. Close to train station, so no long distances carrying heavy bags which is perfect. Would definitely stay here again.

Arab children playing outside of room 9 to 11:30pm. When I told them to be quite and go to their room. Don't think an adult was supervising them. Mold in shower.

Long waits to take the elevator, broken AC, ceiling stained, uncomfortable beds and worst of all bugs in the bathroom on multiple nights. I killed them myself, reported it and received no follow up, no refund, nothing. I would not stay here.

Filthy! The toilet had yellow urin stains all over, also on the floor. How is it possible to miss this?? The only response we got was: oh,thats too bad. Location great.

Run down, old hotel - one of our rooms has no AC, the other had bugs in the bathroom on multiple nights. Pictures are way nicer than the reality. Almost no amenities at all: no robe, no shower gel, nothing. Would NOT recommend.

Room was well fitted not very clean and had at least 3 different peoples hair on top of the bed. Reception is chaotic, dining options very limited and feels like they would rather not be doing it.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Room had a weird smell and didn't feel clean. Horrible view. Receptionists are all slow and have no personality. Felt like a immigrant hotel with all the foreigner's everywhere. Didn't see a single British person there. Doors slam all through the night so you can't fall asleep and there is no soundproofing at all you can hear people walking and talking in the halls all day and night. Absolutely horrible experience. Look elsewhere.

For a London hotel the room was spacious with an exceptionally comfortable bed/bedding. Room was serviced every day including bottles of water. We had breakfast included which was a buffet with above average choice and variety. Had limited interaction with staff, but when we did, everyone was friendly. Location is pretty unbeatable if you want to be central - easy walking distance to all the shopping, including Harrods on the other side of the park. Easy access to public transportation. Bundling with flights from Canada made this hotel affordable and great value for money. Would stay again.

The staff were very friendly and the location was nice. However, both the tv didn't work( batteries in the remote were leaking causing it to just not work 99% of the time, as well as the mini fridge that also was broken. Having somewhere to store my insulin refrigerated was a huge loss and disappointment.

Had issues with the room (AC not working right, toilet broke, phone not charged, big stain on carpet) but the Front Office Manager worked hard to find us a better room and even upgraded us.

Good location and big rooms but old furnitures. Some cabinets doesn’t close. Our aircondition didn’t work for the most days.

Great hotel location close to underground station. Room was spacious enough and had great lighting and space to put our things out on. Beds were comfortable..only negative comment is a draft from the a/c right above the bed. Great closet with lighting! We would stay there again!

Property was nice. We were on low floor facing Oxford street and very noisy at night. Room not made up each day until almost 6 PM

Nothing worked. Tv didn’t work. Phone didn’t work.

You can never reach to reservation staff for any problem. Staff is never helpful. The rooms are ok and the location is not bad.

The service was terrible and some staff on the reception was rude

No aircon in room. Manager said would sort but didn’t! Terrible service. Had to move rooms 2nd day as no other rooms available of similar level. Then had to keep going to reception as keycard didn’t work and didn’t allow access to lounge as they didn’t add it on as were given 2nd room on a lower floor. They refunding 1st night in full but not had confirmation from hotels.com yet but eventually managed to get an email from the hotel. Was 33 degrees in the first room and only supplied fans at 11pm at night after numerous calls to reception.

Great hotel, really handy location with its proximity to Hyde park for the event we were attending. Were able to check in early too which was very convenient and helpful! Great cheerful and friendly staff on reception too

The staff were all very friendly helpful and efficient.We were met getting out of our taxi and our luggage was taken to check in for us I mentioned it was my daughters birthday ,they decorated the room with balloons and left a bottle of bubbly and birthday cake .

The hotel was lovely, I was a bit disappointed with the check in process as it was very slow however there were many staff members around. Room was great

The check in experience was very taxing. It took 45 min of standing in (a non existant queue) to get checked in. They were very nice once we were assisted but it was confusion and very busy

Rooms are clean, but staff (except concierge / Bell desk) is a bit rude. The reception staff at the time of check in was quite arrogant. The girls at the time of check out were polite and courteous.

Just amazing! The hotel staff are amazing ! They really look after you . Harsh the manger gave amazing customer service ! Would definitely go back !

The staff were fantastic. We needed an early check in as we were off to the Kings Garden party and despite getting there at 11am, Pav who was working on the front desk managed to get us a room so we could get dressed amd ready to go as early as we could. They truly went above and beyond!

Excellent location near Oxford Street shopping, Central Line tube station, and Hyde Park. The property was updated and clean with good amenities including a restaurant, lounge, and cafe. Staff was lovely. Rooms were spacious, especially for London, and we appreciated the sofa bed for our group of three. Would stay here again and recommend with no hesitation.

Primark M&S and Selfridges on your doorstep. John Lewis, UniQlo and Apple Store just down the road. Direct to Bond St from Heathrow on Elizabeth Line. Location of a good solid Hotel is unbeatable.

Great location

The property was located near Oxford St - good for shopping - & near Hyde Park - which was good for that early morning run. Also a lovely walk through the parks to Buckingham Palace & Westminster sites. There were train stations nearby making the connection from Heathrow Airport hassle free.

I love how it's close to bus stops and the train station. There are also lots of restaurants and shopping places nearby. I liked the lounge where you can get snacks and refreshments in the afternoon, alcohol included. The breakfast served there is a little disappointing; the English breakfast I was expecting never made an appearance. Other than that, everything was great.

Right on a convenient bus line and near the underground you can get to attractions easily. Breakfast is good and varied.

Lovely friendly hotel, amazing breakfast buffet❤️

The property is lovely. Friendly staff, lovely minibar full of sodas and water, nice deli but expensive. The room was nice but the shower was horrible. You have to climb over into the shower with no grip handles, the rainfall shower was a nice touch but it was cracked in the sealing. Brekafast is a whole other story. Everything was cold to the touch. The Pancakes were cold the Waffles were cold the Scrambled Eggs were cold, it was just horrible

The grouting around the bathroom door was grubby and needs cleaning. I waited 15 minutes to get a drink and the barman kept serving other people who arrived after me. We also ordered a chocolate Brownie, it didn’t arrive and after half an hour we gave up and left.

It was a very busy area with limited dining options due to times various establishments were open. Hotels dinner option was very limited though breakfast was very good. Transportation options were very good.

Brilliant location by Marble Arch and Oxford Street. Only a short walk to Hyde park which was prefect. When we arrived although requested early check-in it wasn’t available, and then when I came to check-in at 5pm after seeing a show it was a bit chaotic - no idea where the queue started or ended - it would have been better for it to be more organised. Our room was upgraded which was a very nice touch and the room was amazing - and we looked on to Oxford Street. The breakfast was brilliant well worth the extra price. Would most definitely stay here again.
