Locanda Herion

The location is nice. Very close to a main street and 2 minute walk to water transportation. There are two mobile cell phone shops very close. Two cafes and pizzerias. Backyard terrace is nice but they need to fix the lighting as it was flashing uncomfortably so I would recommend eating breakfast in the terrace in the day time until they fix it. They have luggage storage which was very useful on our last day so we can do activities after checkout. Overall a pleasant experience experience.

The Expedia listing mentions on-site parking, which is not true and, in fact, impossible due to Venice's parking regulations. It is a 20-40 minute walk to parking. Otherwise, it's a great location. Our room was nice and clean. Hot water and water pressure was iffy. The housekeeping manager was helpful and friendly. Like some other reviewers, our room access code was not sent, but they responded quickly to WhatsApp messages. They do not respond to emails.

This place was great! We easily found it with gps and the owner sent over all our information for the stay that morning. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom was spotless. It is all stairs no elevator, it wasn’t a problem for us but something to keep in mind if it is for you. It’s right next to a water taxi stop but is also walkable to so many other areas. The walls are pretty thin but again we didn’t mind but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. I will say we did attempt to communicate with The host for information on how to get to the airport and received no answer but we figured it out with google.

The location is perfect. There’s cafe’s nearby, restaurants, shops and it’s so close to the train station. The stairs you have to take from the train station have a ramp so it’s perfect if you have luggage. Our room/bathroom was a bit on the small size but we didn’t spend too much time in the room since Venice was so amazing 😊 our room also had access to the terrace with the view of the courtyard.

I liked the place. I disliked that they left me on my own for parking even one of the reasons I chose it was that it said it had parking. The other issue is that they assigned to me the number 2B which was aside of the real entrance and also had a keypad that of course never worked because there is only one entrance. All the adds said letters A and numbers 1, 2 and 3. In the end we "found the correct door" and the 2B flat was upstairs. That was terrible because we arrived late, hungry and tired and we struggled with the check in.

Convenient location for sightseeing in Venice. The hotel is also close to Santa Lucia train station. One good thing is that I can store my luggage in the locked luggage room after checked out while continue to sightseeing around. I get back my luggage in the late afternoon to catch the train to Trieste. There is no receptionist onsite , so you have to communicate with the staff in advance for the code to enter the building and your room.

Overall the property was nice and they were accommodating! My only thing to note, is that it is hard to get ahold of them. I recommend just messaging them over WhatsApp right from the start, as they respond fast there! We also appreciated being able to store our luggage early before check-in and after check-out as we had a later flight that day!

El hotel era muy agradable, cerca de la estación de trenes, por lo que estaba muy bien situado. Nos encantó la posibilidad de dejar las maletas sin sobrecoste ninguno antes de hacer el check-in y después del check-out, puesto que andar por Venecia con las maletas es muy incómodo como ya comprobarán.

The hotel is in a very nice area, walking distance to the train station, water buses/taxis, shops and restaurants. The room itself was small but large enough for 2 people. The main issue with the property is the mold in the bathroom. The smell made it unbearable to be in there. The other issue (not sure if this is an Expedia problem but when we booked the hotel the listing said that the hotel offered transportation from the airport and that we would get an email 7 days prior to our arrival with check in information. We did not receive anything so we emailed the hotel and they told me we would get a code the day of our arrival and that we can book transportation at the airport. So they don’t offer that service. On the day of our arrival we had yet to receive anything about our check in. It wasn't until we messaged them on What’s App that we finally got the information we needed. It was stressful to fly into a county for the first time and feeling unsure about where you are staying. The property information needs to be updated.

Excelente localização! Atendimento do check in muito prestativo, com destaque para a famosa Mama. Quarto muito bom, a melhor cama da viagem. realmente descansamos. Porém, o banheiro deixou a desejar. Tinha algum mofo, mas o pior é que o box (pequeno: 80x80cm) que não tinha nenhum suporte para shampoo ou sabonete. Tinha que usar a pia para colocar o sabonete e abrir o box toda hora, molhando todo o banheiro. Muito desconfortável. No geral, bom.

Lovely hotel, very clean and spacious room. Check-in was a bit unconventional, but the hotel was very responsive to emails and WhatsApp which made it in the end straight forward. The provided breakfast is nicely presented and absolutely sufficient to start the day. I would definitely stay again.

We were very disappointed with this hotel. The room we were given looked nothing like the photos online. It was dark and quite dirty. The shower head had black mould all over it. The bathroom was down 4 sets of stairs which was dangerous when we needed to use to toilet at night. There was also no light in the shower. The WiFi didn’t work and I had no response from the hotel when I complained on the first night. For the price of the hotel, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Die Dichtungen der Türen existieren nicht man hört jeden schritt und Tritt. Für den Check-in wurden mir die Daten um 15:00 Uhr zugeschickt, obwohl wir auch vorher unsere Taschen abstellen hätten können. Die Lichschalter am Gang sind alle 20 Sekunden durch ein klicken aufgegangen, in Ruhe schlafen ist in diesem Hotel nicht möglich.

Lå super sentralt Ac som virket veldig bra. Rent og ryddig. Litt lite lydisolering om man er var, men det gikk veldig bra.

The room wasn’t big enough to be considered a family room that can fit 4 people. The ac had a strong mold smell and it stops working suddenly which is really annoying when it happens in the middle of the night. The little fridge in the closet had a loud noise and you cannot pull the electric cord out of the socket. And it makes the closet very hot. The bathroom had one hook for one body towel and no rail for the hand towel which made it hard for the four of us to hang our towels ( was very inconvenient). Nadia from the housekeeping was very nice and friendly. But the housekeeping manager who i didn’t happen to meet but we just talked over the phone before checking in wasn’t nice at all. She was yelling at me over the phone when i tried to understand the difference in fees she was asking me to pay compared to the fees that were on my invoice from expedia. The breakfast was good. Basic but for us more than enough. The area is nice. 25 minutes walk to san marco. And 10 minutes walk from the train station.

Family room for 4 while it can barely fit for 2 persons! No table to put stuff in the room! No place to walk, bathroom too small with no hangers for the towels… don’t take a family room there!!!! You will be stucked in a small area with no space to feel comfortable …

I struggled to find the luggage room but the staff member who was doing breakfast helped me to find it, she was very polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend Locanda Herion. It’s in a good location with lots of bars and restaurants near by. It’s also in walking distance from all the main attractions.

The hotel was located perfectly, it was just behind the main street so it was not loud outside, however it was in a great spot with loads of shops and restaurants surrounding it. everywhere was in a walkable distance including the train station, the rialto bridge, St marks etc. The only issue we faced was the air conditioning was very bad so the room was still boiling

Cons: walking to/from bus station parking with each a large luggage took about 20 mins, walking up stairs. Very unpleasant. Communication with property was not easy. We booked with Expedia but they wouldn’t communicate with us thru them. We had to call a few numbers to get access code for room. They contacted on my mobile but like many I got a SIM card with a different number. Shower was extremely small. We weren’t aware of charge for breakfast and sternly advise that it was 10 Euros each. No thanks. We opted to go elsewhere. Small fridge was very noisy. Pros. Close to many dining options and activities like gondola ride. Beds were very comfortable. Property was very clean. Room was quiet.

When I booked this stay I didn't realize there would be no one at the location. However, I have stayed at many Airbnbs and thought it would be no big deal. I was wrong. There was poor communication. I was sent a code to enter the guesthouse but no code for the room. The code didn't work, so my son and I were left standing outside with all our luggage. We had no ability to make phone calls, but after some scrambling figured how to contact them through Whatsapp. The women was incredibly rude and blamed me for why she didn't send me the code. I had filled out all the necessary information in advance as directed in the emails. Further she demanded 24 euros more for the tourist tax, in additional to all taxes I had already paid and which was not mentioned I would have to pay in the booking. The tax is supposed to be paid prior to arriving in Venice and she was supposed to send me a QR code to enter the island. This did not happen either which led to a long conversation and some grace on the part of the tourist tax offical when I got off the train. As you can imagine this was an awful experience and afterwards my son Googled them and it appears to be a common experience. Further the room was filled with flies and mosquitoes, there was no safe as indicated, and the refrigerator didn't work.

This hotel never responded to my emails and never read and reply the chat on the booking site. Not just on the day of our stay. For several days I had been sending several times. Expedia tried hard to contact this hotel to resolve the issue but ultimately the hotel never sent me an entry code.(With the help of Expedia they finally sent me the web check-in URL the same night. I entered it, but this hotel did not send me an entry code.) So I rushed to find another hotel. The hotel doesn't contact me, but treats it as a no-show cancellation. They are only checking that kind of information, but they didn’t send me the code at all.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our ‘touring around Italy’ trip and had a very pleasant stay. The staff were very attentive before we arrived on WhatsApp keeping us up to date and providing helpful check in information. Upon arrival we found an easy to find location with plenty to do around, also it’s less than a 5 min walk from the water bus station! The room itself had everything we could possibly need with a relatively comfy fold out bed, fully stocked bathroom with a wet room shower and a safe to store valuables. The few interactions we had with staff at the location were excellent and the cleaning staff were super helpful and so nice! Next time we’re in Venice we will definitely be back!

This hotel is great and quite well hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Venice. A lot of people in reviews conplained about checkin however - if you follow the instructions emailed by the hotel you will do just fine. While they do not have a reception desk, they do answer their WhatsApp messages and their communication is great. Make sure to do the pre check-in!

Never received any check in communication, prior to arrival I called number listed on Hotels.com that had a recorded message and despite me leaving a message no one called. I reached out by e-mail too, after no timely reply spent 40 euros to store luggage. Within 30 minutes of that revived a message finally but no on way to do something else. The e-mail contained an incorrect door code to building, by trial and error we got in. The e-mail never named the wifi but gave a password that didn’t work for the only wifi that showed up. Again called and sent messages that were never answered. Next morning spoke to a man in lobby who appeared to work there and he told me to call the 2 numbers listed on sign, I’d already done so. I did finally receive a call back from cleaning lady who said she was coming up. She then proceeded to yell at us about the wifi and why we hadn’t chosen the correct wifi or called. I showed her my call log and she still claimed she hadn’t been called. Eventually the first man I met I believe reset the wifi. The property itself was nice enough but not worth the hassle. Also, signage said breakfast 8-10, when I enquired I was asked if my reservation included breakfast, I replied I can’t check as I have no WiFi, no one ever apologized

Nao recomendo o hotel, chemos em Veneza as 23h e nao tinha ninguem para nos receber, pedimos ajuda do garcom de 1 estabelecimento local, para que ele nos ajudasse a falar com alguem da propriedade e so atraves dessa ajuda conseguimos entrar no hotel. O horario de saida do hotel era as 10:00h da manhã, nunca tinha visto isso antes. Ao entrarmos no hotel nos deparamos com 1 escama enorme e estreita, escada de 2 lances. Muito complicado e cansativo subir essas escadas com nossas malas. Nao existe ajuda humana para carregar as malas. Nao gostei do atendimento.

Pros- great location in a fab neighbourhood - lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance that were much nicer than the main tourist areas. Cons- as others have said, the check-in process is stressful. The rooms aren't really sound proof either - our room was right by the cleaners cupboards and every morning we were woken up early but workers talking loudly. This was annoying. It was expensive for what it was too - modern room but basic. Basic breakfast too. All in all the location made it worth it but just wouldn't go expecting any frills.

Nos hospedamos durante 6 noches en el hotel y no pienso volver a hacerlo pues reservamos la habitación con el desayuno incluído pero, estando ahí, dijeron que únicamente habíamos pagado por el cuarto. Les enseñamos la confirmación de Hoteles.com en donde venía especificado lo del desayuno y ni así quisieron respetarlo. Creo que es un hotel muy caro para lo que ofrece. Durante nuestra estancia, el aire acondicionado nunca funcionó. Hubo días en los que solamente entraron a tender la cama y no hicieron la limpieza, ni siquiera sacaron la basura del basurero. No tienen recepción en el lugar así que resulta complicado acceder a la propiedad con el código que te mandan pues contiene números y letras pero no te explican que, para entrar, únicamente debes poner los números. Los cuartos son ruidosos....se escucha todo lo de los otros cuartos. No hay elevador y tienes que subir las maletas por una escalera muy estrecha. Definitivamebte, no fue una buena experiencia

Vi trivdes veldig godt på hotellet, men tynne vegger og ingen mulighet for å ha rommet lenger enn 10 på avreisedato trekket hotellet litt ned for oss. Plusspoeng for frokost på hotellet.

The checking in process was a bit cumbersome. There was a portal we needed to use, but never got the right link. I believe it's because the number in their system didn't match ours specifically the +1 for usa. So needed to reach out to do hotel by WhatsApp, luckily we did that on the train to Venice. The location, rooms, price and price level were great.
