Wonderful vintage hotel with private entrance and front door parking. All ground level rooms with microwave, fridge, coffee pot, flat screen tv and WiFi. Very clean and comfortable. I loved the kitschy vibe and Lake Huron view. Hope to come back for a longer stay!

This place exceeded my expectations- it was such a cute mom/pop spot. The fridge and microwave both worked great, good selection of channels on the tv. The room was a little on the small side but very clean. My kids were a little bummed the playground was disassembled but they had the beach and park right across the road to make up for it!

Check in was nice and warming! The lodge was easy to find and we were able to park right in front of our door. The room was clean and welcoming. If I am in the area again, I will definitely be stopping by for a return visit!

Cute family owned hotel. It’s an old place that has been refurbished and retained retro style with modern conveniences (wifi, refrigerator, microwave).It’s well taken care of, clean, comfortable, and in good location. Proprietors were very friendly. My only recommendation for the owners is add some curtains to better block out light (this is a common hotel issue). I will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Super clean with an old school, up north feel. Good size fridge with separate freezer. Closet and shelf for keeping things neat and out of the way. Comfortable small chair and tv tray was a nice touch. Good A/C. Shower head/style and difficulty getting water to shut off was a little inconvenient. Although the little playground area is unique and very cute - there were several broken and unsturdy things and it backs up to a business with trucks and dumpsters.

This charming “Mom & Pop” motel is older but well maintained and very clean. Our room was small with 2 double beds. Very friendly greeting and efficient check in. Parked right by our door, had an actual key for the room. Air conditioner worked well, lots of towels. Walked to the restaurant next door. Excellent dinner with view of Lake Huron.

Really nice mom and pop motel, very clean! Beds very comfortable! One thing I particularly liked was hard wood type floor, which were freshly cleaned, I know that because we were 10 minutes early and the floor was still damp from being mopped. Carpet in hotels fine but how often are they shampooed, and who knows what's on it. Host were very nice !!

Room was clean,comfortable bed,slept well,has small table with 2 padded chairs,small lounge chair with ottoman, mini refer with nice size freezer,microwave,coffee maker and enough outlets in right places. Walls repainted. Bathroom clean with night light,walk in shower but room small.Parking in front of room. Even had a mini pack of cookies to eat. Motel area well maintained,close to Lake Huron. One of the best motels I've stayed in last 4 summers of travel. Well worth the price. If I ever return to this area,I would stay here in a heart beat. Town clean,great scenery.

The property owners are extremely nice and welcoming. There's plenty to do in the area and the area generally felt safe. However, the room was not clean and filled with dust and spiders everywhere. We killed over 15 spiders during our 2 night stay!

Very old, not kept up, not very clean (baseboards, window sills etc). Beds very soft/uncomfortable. Our first room had ants & we had to move to another. People who worked desk were nice tho. That's all I can say good about the place

The couple in the office was so friendly that I feel bad leaving a sub par review… The room is soooo tight. My husband and I had a hard time navigating around each other. Can’t imagine 4 people sharing this room, Furnishings are “meh.” The closet is sort of scary. I wouldn’t sleep next to it. Shower is spacious but there was hair on the wall - not mine. Underside of the toilet seat was not clean. Bathroom floor not clean. Bathroom door has some damage at the bottom that needs to be attended to as well. The exterior door threshold needs to be repaired. AC unit had to run constantly to keep the room cool and the fan would not run on a low speed so it was noisy. At least I couldn’t get it to go at a lower speed. I’m very surprised that this little hotel’s score was a 90 - “wonderful.” I’m thinking 75. Bugs need to be cleaned away from the exterior light fixtures to make the room more welcoming from the outside. Water pressure was good in the shower but there is nowhere to set anything down by the sink. Again, I can’t imagine 4 people sharing this room and bathroom. On a positive note, grounds were quiet. Looking forward to seeing a few lighthouses.

Bed was miserable. Not charming just old and rundown. Not what I was hoping for. Bedframes stuck out from under bed. Easy to bang your legs in such a small room. Water leaked from sink and shower even after trying to turn it off. Not overly dirty though for price it was a place to sleep. Owners were nice. Hotel needs a lot of work.

This adorable mom&pop operation was a really lovely place to stay. It reminded me of the trips my family used to take in the 1970's and 1980's. The beds were very comfortable and the little kitchenette had everything we needed. Clean and cozy and cute as can be.

Retro motel. Cute and clean. Staff was very nice. Room was very small. Bathroom was tiny. Low toilet really needs to be replaced with a comfort level toilet.Low toilets are very hard for old, arthritic people.

We arrived late and property advised that due to water boiler leak the room heating was down. They would put a space heater in the room and leave it unlocked. When we arrived the heater must have tripped the circuit breaker because it was off as were most of the plugs in the room and lights in bedroom, closet, bathroom and lamp. No one returned calls or texts. We stayed in dark room and used our phone flashlights for bathroom, shaving, showering and getting dressed. I don’t think it’s overly safe to leave a room open with an unattended heater, or not have any way to reach the property or front desk after 10PM in case there is a serious issue. In the morning manager / owner was nice and certainly polite but not too worried about going to see the issues or finding a way to remedy the inconveniences.

When i booked the room i had listed we were traveling with animals. The hotels website says nothing about no pets. AFTER I booked 2 non refundable rooms about an hour later i got a message from the hotel on the hotels.com app saying no pets were allowed and no marijuana on the premises. Me and one of me fellow travelers both have United States registered service dogs and the man at the front desk was extreamly rude, was asking VERY inappropriate questions about my disability and was trying to turn us away. He then grilled us on weather we had marijuana on us or in our vehicle's. It was very uncomfortable. I tried to tell him that its against the law to ask me what my specific disability was and that he could only ask what services the dog performs and he was getting angry about it and argumentative. 10/10 would not recommend this place. Also when booking both rooms were listed as "lake view" there was 0 view of the lake from our rooms. It actually sits pretty far from the lake and has houses blocking almost everything. This hotel is shiesty and was pulling some wierd stuff.

Very family oriented. Owners are so kind & generous & always there to lend a helping hand no matter what time of the day or night. This was our 2nd stay here & there will be many more stays at this motel. Beautiful views of Lake Huron just across the street.

Owners are very friendly and quick to accommodate. We had a toilet issue and were given a different room within minutes.

My friend and I stayed for 1 night while I was up from Texas to look at houses. I booked Big Bear Lodge purely on reviews. I am joining the others in saying I will definitely stay here again! The owners were so sweet, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Hanley even showed me a trick to get my tight fitting drivers license out of my wallet! The room was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The beds were very comfortable, and the “retro” red fridge and microwave were adorable! I had an issue trying to regulate the heat, but IF I had read the available info card, all of my questions were easily answered. Louie got the heat going immediately, and came back a few hours later to make sure we were warm enough. Overall, our stay was very pleasurable in every aspect. Thanks for treating us like family!

It is such a cute place ran by a older couple. The atmosphere was nice and it's right across from the bay. Could not have stayed at a better place! The room was cute with a nice mini fridge and freezer. (Freezer/fridge work great!) Its location is great. My youngest son and I walked to the Dollar General and to the beach on the bay.

An older motel but a decent place for the price. The couple in the office were friendly and helpful, as was the cleaning staff. Great location across US23 to Starlite Beach. A few fast food places within walking distance and a nice little restaurant right next door. For a couple of nights, it was perfect!

This charming “Mom & Pop” motel is older but well maintained and very clean. Our room was small with 2 double beds. Very friendly greeting and efficient check in. Cute retro Ma and Pop lodge. Very clean and quiet. Friendly staff. Housekeeping came everyday and tidied up, replenished toiletries. Beach across the street was clean. Mexican restaurant across street was good not great. Lodge could use some updates or just a handy man to repair a few things. Chairs were a little wobbly, gutters need cleaned out, etc. water pressure wasn’t the greatest. Overall, we’d stay there again.

It was exact like it was described and captured in photos on Expedia. It’s a nice, clean, comfortable, roadside motel. The owners were super friendly and every have us great suggestions for dinner. We would stay here again.
