Elk Inn Motel I-77,Exit 85

This was a nice, serviceable hotel. My son and i spent two nights, the rooms were clean, quiet and the smoke-free room we requested was truly smoke-free. The owners were very accommodating about a late check-in, a first floor room and providingthe little extras we needed. The refrigerator had a seperate freezer; which we needed. There was a microwave and the best water pressure I've ever had at a hotel! This is not part of a huge, luxurious chain with pools; workout rooms, free breakfasts etc. Thus is a pleasant, clean, quiet and inexpensive place to spend the night. We will stay there again when in the area.

We were looking for a budget friendly option since we just needed a place to stay for one night before picking up our child at camp. The room was in poor condition. Walls were dirty, toilet paper holder was coming off the wall. The shower was not clean. It was clear that the room had not been updated in years.

The room and bathroom were clean. nice linen. AC worked fine. Every as fine. This is a no frills place but perfect for a night or two when you'll hardly be there. My 2nd stay there. will probably stay again!

Hotel is very run down. Room was dirty, cockroach in tub, sparse linens (they were old and discolored). Loud music and even louder yelling and partying. Room smelled moldy. I reserved and paid for 2 nights but after getting there after dark I left early next morning. I had a ground floor room and felt VERY uncomfortable. I would never stay here again. Oh, I did not get $ back for second unused night and they hit my credit card before I even reached the room. Ugh!

Couldn’t stay here. Found adult bed bugs in our room. Was offered another room, but couldn’t get over the fact that the bed bugs were there. Sadly we arrived late after a long 12 hours of driving and had to continue on and find another place to stay. Very disappointed!

The room had been remodeled and updated some so it was nice. But I did find a roach.

Overaal the room was not very clean. Bathroom tile floor was dirty. Caulking around tub and toilet was dirty. Bathroom wall had dirt smeared on it. Shower wall had a gaping hole in it where the shower head came through it. I stayed here as a last resort to go to merlefest after another booking I had canceled out on me. Definitely would not go back if there were any other options.

Okay, I don’t want to eviscerate this property because according to other reviews the owners might have changed recently. You can tell they have tried to update the place and make it nice for guests. That being said, I’d guess there were too many years of the property being poorly maintained and perhaps a lack of care from tenants over the past 40 years (established in 1983 the signs says). My purpose of doing this review is not because it was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. I want to inform travelers so they know what they’re booking. The linens were clean as were the surfaces of the furniture. But, the tub and toilet all had rust and/or mold. The painted walls were dirty. Taking a rag to them would be an easy way to improve the appearance of the room. I saw 2 bugs but one was a harmless that probably just flew in when someone was coming/going, but the other was a spider behind the bed. I am truly surprised there weren’t more since there were gaps by the door where quite a few would be able to get in. Also no sign of bed bugs (I checked), but there was a zippered cover over the mattress, so I can’t speak for the mattress itself. I would venture to guess their pest control is on point due to not having seen hardly any with that gap by the door. I also got up over night and turned on the lights to go to the bathroom and saw nothing scatter. So, to summarize: cheap, clean-ish, friendly staff, area fine, quiet. But this is not even Holiday Inn level, so know that.

Dirty, spiders, and some type of fluids on the doors and walls. Walls were thin, could hear the tv coming from the room next to us. Our toilet randomly flushed by itself at 2 AM in the morning which was very odd. The smoke detector was missing and there was no sprinkler system in the room in case of fire. We had 2 nights booked, but felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe after that first night so we checked out the next day. We understand it’s a 2 star hotel, but even so this was unacceptable.

Definitely a room that has been smoked in regularly. The hotel keys has a trick to it making it hard to open. Once inside the handle kept falling off. It definitely could have been cleaner. Sheets had holes and oil spots on them.

Clean, comfortable, and better than expected for the price.

Booked the higher priced king bed room on Expedia only to find when we got there that it was a smoking room. Why would you ruin your highest priced room with smoke??? Room they substituted (queen baed) had a window you could not see out of, supposedly because it was a bad thermo pane. Uh, replace it! Bathroom was terribly dated. Will not go back.

YOU COULD HEAR NOISE (BABY SCREAMING),(TELEVISION) ETC. AS STATED BEFORE, IF YOU NEED A PLACE TO STAY AND CHEAPLY ,THIS MIGHT BE THE PLACE.

Good place to stay. They just need new mattresses they was clean but not comfortable

Walls are thin heard the neighbors late in to the night. But overall was not bad.

Being an older property we didn't have high expectations. The room was quite clean, good shower, beds were decent. We were just looking for a place to layover, nothing more and it met that need. If you do stay I suggest asking for the second floor. We stayed on the 1st floor and Lurch above was walking heavy-footed. It wasn't excessive and didn't last too o long into the night but it could have been quieter if we weren't below someone. I would stay again for the cost and connivence.

We had a party of 4 and they only gave us 3 towels and when we asked for an additional one we were told no but to wait until the next day. Mattresses are old and need to be replaced.

We needed a smoking and most of them are on second floor. Being a senior with back problems I needed downstairs. I called when I made a reservation and the gentleman said he would give me a certain room number that was downstairs and smoking. I was worried it wouldn't happen but sure enough when we got there he did what he said.

Just an old beat up motel. Wouldnt stay again. Had to wait an hour before we could get in our room. Definitely not worth 100 bucks!

When we first arrived the lady at the front took our hotel stay money and demanded we pay more for underaged children ages: 1 to 3. After finishing our first initial contact the lady ended the conversation saying for us not to be loud. I guess because of my appearance she assumed i was loud but never. Then we get to the room and i take a shower. After i get out the toilet stops flushing making it look as if it was about to overflow. I spoke to the front desk. They automatically tried to push blame on us. I used that toilet one time and it was most likely damaged due to the pipes. They came and just looked at the toilet then walked away. We used the maintenance plunger from then on. Never again will i stay here with my family. We just wanted to sleep for a little while.

Older family run hotel with the basics. Clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and accommodating.

This is an older property, however, if you are okay with things being a bit dated and more concerned about a good price, this place is fine. It was clean, everything work. It is convenient close to shopping and restaurants.
