The property is beautiful the room that we stayed in was lovely comfortable only problem it was on the 3 rd floor no elevator so keep that in mind when booking. Food was delicious staff were all very kind and helpful.

A beautiful hotel, nice big and stylish room and lovely breakfast, unfortunately all let down on check out when being told the single small bottle of beer and the mini Prosecco bottle I added to my tab from the honesty bar were charged at over £13 each. There is no excuse for trying to charge that amount of money for something that costs £2.10 direct from the actual brewery just around the corner. It is just plain dishonest (ironically) and unnecessary to extort your guests and spoil what would have been a glowing review.

Bed and pillows are excellent, cleaning is very good.I think the price is too high given the room size and amenities.No lift in this beautiful building. Staff were welcoming and very friendly, room was clean, bed was comfy, bathroom had underfloor heating and a decent shower, breakfast was great. There's free parking and a bus stop right outside for easy access to the city centre. Everything went perfectly, really enjoyed our stay!

The staff was so helpful and kind. Close to Arthur’s Seat but a bit of a walk to the castle and old town. We were able to take advantage of the workout gym which was a half mile away. It was lovely but you need your own towel and lock of you want to use the locker room. Hotel was on the campus of the university of Edinburgh. Limited parking but we were able to find a spot. Hotel was absolutely beautiful and well maintained. No lift, have to use the stairs. Highly recommend this hotel

Gorgeous historic hotel about 1 mile from Edinburgh Royal Mile. No lift for heavy cases. Picturesque gardens. Very beautiful breakfast room. Nice breakfast with a lot of choice. Nice bathroom with large shower. Tea and coffee in room.

Amazing independent hotel in central Edinburgh. Really good staff. Welcoming, helpful, efficient. Room was spacious , luxurious and comfortable. Great mattress . Had a lovely quiet sleep. Breakfast excellent. Great choice and quality. Beware the electric car chargers. The Tesla one is Tesla only ( unlike most of their Superchargers) and the ChargePlace Scotland ones wouldn’t work from the app. Had to ring ( great customer service) but as couldn’t monitor it on the app, got stung with a £30 overstay charge for staying 15 minutes longer than allowed,which I understand is not from the charger supplier but from Edinburgh council! Nothing to do with The Scott Hotel, who could not have been more hospitable, however. Just be aware and maybe don’t use the EV charger if you have any option.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was well maintained, very clean, quite with good quality curtains for a good nights sleep. Lovely on sight restaurant and bar. Complimentary tea and coffee selection with delicious shortbread. Bottled water and fruit always available. Could not fault it.

The Scott is a fabulous little hotel, clearly newly renovated and impeccably clean but with Scottish charm. Staff are so friendly and helpful, breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had (you can order off a menu and there’s a small buffet). Location was just outside central but a quick 25 min walk to royal mile or just a couple stops on the bus, which stops just outside the hotel. The bed was also so comfortable we tried finding the tags to purchase the same bedding for ourselves!

The rooms while small, were cosy and clean. The bed was quite comfortable and there was a nice selection of teas, coffees, and biscuits in the room. The staff were very friendly both at reception and in the dining room. The walk to the Royal Mile was managable and it was nice to have a little escape away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Also nice to have free parking! Good value for money.

We had a wonderful two-night stay at The Scott. The room was clean and the breakfast was delicious. The location is lovely with many places to walk to for sight seeing. Our only recommendation would be to include outlets near the bedside tables.

I've stayed at a lot of places and this has to be one of my favorites. The room was clean, nice, and comfortable. The views are great. The bathroom was exceptional. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The check-in and out processes were quick and easy. The honesty bar is an interesting amenity. The building is beautiful. Overall, I would be happy to stay at The Scott again.

The hotel is beautifully appointed. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very clean and fitted in a contemporary style. The main areas of the hotel were beautiful and traditional to the building. The bathroom were clean, and large with fab soft towels if a little utilitarian in design compared to everything else. A great shower with lovely products to use. I'd definitely use this hotel again. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Beautiful hotel, the design and decor are gorgeous. So artistic! The rooms and bathrooms were spotless. Clean overflow, clean grout, every square inch was clean! Thank you. Beautiful bar and dining room and meeting room. Too bad you can’t have the fireplaces going but the candies are very pretty.

The hotel itself is quite beautiful and quaint, on the campus of the university. The staff were kind and helpful. This hotel is a ways from most tourist sites and will require a bus/car and a walk. We struggled to find a good breakfast nearby, but found a few nice cafes about 18 min walk away. The hotel breakfast was not great and the coffees came from a make-it-yourself machine. The hotel wifi was quite bad. We had to leave the hotel to get work done as the wifi would dip in and out constantly, and the connection was overall very poor when it was connected. I’d recommend this hotel for those looking for a more quiet getaway outside of the city center, especially if connectivity is not important.

It is a very nice hotel with really attentive staff. The only negative thing is the superior room we booked was absolutely freezing during the night. We measured it to be as low as 14.8 degrees with our bag scale/thermometer in the middle of the room. The floor heating in the WC did not really work and covered about 20% of the room itself. However, the staff did not ignore my complaint but acknowledged it and even surprised us with a bottle of wine in our room when we got back. During the winter they should probably put in something more to raise the temperature, a portable radiator or equivalent. For this price point, this shouldnt happen.

We liked the hotel itself and location. Breakfast was outstanding! The staff very polite and quick to please. The clasic room we chose was however not in 4 stars standards. Very clean but no fridge in the room. The bathroom’s mirror is installed way to low. I am not a tall person and still couldn’t see my face . Maybe because the room is located on last floor, with low ceiling… Overall , nice stay.

I had hoped to get a place to put our clothes from both big bags as it was the first place we stayed longer than 1 night. But there were no drawers. Also no refrigerator for Hubbys medication. Also- the rooms were too modern for my taste. I booked based on the pics which looked much more period. The room decor was not a look back like I thought they would be.

Our stay was quite comfortable and we spent a large portion of it out and in the city, the wait staff in the bar was not the friendliest nor communicative. Slow to take our order and had no idea what a Tom Collins was? Brought a gin and tonic instead.

The Scott is an excellent hotel with staff that is efficient and courteous in all manner. The hotel and property are impeccable with many recent upgrades that create at atmosphere of class. Our whole stay was amazing, couldn't fault it until it came to having our last breakfast there. On checking in we were told breakfast was included in our booking, I queried this as I hadnt booked breakfast. I was assured breakfast was included. We only had breakfast twice as we were on our honeymoon and wernt prioritising getting up early. On our second breakfast visit we were told we would have to pay. As we didnt want to speak up in a busy room we queried it on check out only to find we were being charged for every breakfast we had had. When explained what was said by the receptionist on check in we were told “we have had a number of new staff members and they are giving out wrong information”. Queried with them that that wasnt our mistake but theirs we were still told we would have to pay. Stated if we had of known this we wouldnt have bothered, receptionist said she was sorry but we still needed to pay the outstanding balance. We paid but will be taking this further. So anyone else that chooses to stay there, BEWARE! Check before eating anything! We wont be going back.

From the dedication of the staff to all the attention to details that made us feel at home, warmly welcomed and wrapped up in a luxurious embrace. Everything from the room, bed, pillow menu, amazing hot chocolate, the velvet room, delicious breakfast and our Christmas at the Bonnar’s which we will cherish forever. The Hotel itself, mostly during the Holiday season is filled with beauty and charm and decorated in such a way to make you feel right at home. We will absolutely go back and wish this experience on everyone. Special thanks to Emma, Matheus and Angus who took extra care of us. Thank you all so much.

Staff was very attentive to every need. Reception welcomed us with a nice drink and walked us to our room. We had a room that had a turret that you could get in and look out at the beautiful landscape. Max, the bartender, was great to talk with. He looked up information and printed it for us before we asked. Breakfast was wonderful.

This is the best hotel and experience i have stayed at we couldn't of asked for more. I arranged with Emma the manager to help me plan a proposal during our stay and she could not of been more helpful, along with all the other staff who were so kind to us on the day. The hotel and room itself were absolutely stunning and immediately gave you the wow feeling when walking in, its something both of us will never forget! I cannot thank everyone at The Scott for there help and kindness during our stay, we are already looking to come back next year as i dont think we could come to Edinburgh and not stay here again! It is levels above the standard of hotels you get in the city and i cant recommend it enough - Thank you

We visited The Scot for its proximity to our daughter who was studying abroad and was housed on campus at Holland House. It was a quick 2 minute walk! The staff we interacted with were all pleasant and helpful with any questions we had. Our check in was delayed until extremely late due to flight issues but Sophie was waiting for us and got us checked in and settled quickly. Our room was phenomenal (room 17) and both my husband and I loved the robes and slippers as well as the coffee, tea, cookies in the morning and turn-down service every evening. I will definitely recommend The Scott to anyone who is thinking about visiting Edinburgh in the future.

A beautiful little hotel in very good condition, so we enjoyed it. But, the service has huge room for improvements ! I believe the hotel has employed a lot of students - fine but hey need training. The main gate is blocked - very difficult to find an alternative route. Please, make sure the maps/Garmin get updated ! Is says free limited parking. When there is NO parking to be found the hotel should have a back up ! A waiter spilled "egg royale " on my trousers - I would expect some kind of response - a free drink in the bar, may be.... ! A managers asked if I was insured (!!!) - no the egg did not case injuries..... The Bonniers was closed the two nights we could have eaten there. Very disapointing ! please, print info in big print ! We noticed that some guests very welcomed with a small drink. Strange to be present and not get any.... The reception should have some city maps to give out.

The Scott is a fabulous little hotel, clearly newly renovated and impeccably clean but with Scottish charm. Staff are so friendly and helpful, breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had (you can order off a menu and there’s a small buffet). Location was just outside central but a quick 25 min walk to royal mile or just a couple stops on the bus, which stops just outside the hotel. The bed was also so comfortable we tried finding the tags to purchase the same bedding for ourselves!

This is a very cute hotel in an historic building . Lovely room with a turret, fabulous restaurant in beautiful surrounds on the grounds of university halls of residence. Walkable to superb views from Arthur’s Seat and the city centre but away from tourist hordes. Highly recommend

Staff were welcoming and very friendly, room was clean, bed was comfy, bathroom had underfloor heating and a decent shower, breakfast was great. There's free parking and a bus stop right outside for easy access to the city centre. Everything went perfectly, really enjoyed our stay!

Situated within the University of Edinburgh near Holyrood. Free parking. Lovely setting and hotel. We were in Room 25 and it was very comfortable and spacious. You can dine in the adjacent Scholars Hotel but we did not try it. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel is close to the Commonwealth Pool. It’s an easy 25 mins walk to Princes Street with lots to see along the way. Buses 2,4,14,30 and 33 will take you into town for £2. We will book here again as it’s such a lovely relaxed place.

We are so pleased to have stayed in this beautiful building! The stay was perfect, and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle. It was so convenient to take the bus anywhere we needed to go. Excellent location and the view of Arthur’s Seat was beautiful.

The Scott was incredible. From the moment I stepped inside the staff were available, attentive, and helpful; they really add to this amazing property. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast service was great. Walking distance to City Centre makes this a great location. I was concerned driving onto the University of Edinburgh campus but The Scott is a wonderful hotel, perfectly run and a great place to stay!

Very enjoyable stay lovely hotel , however the 1st morning breakfast was cold on cold plates ,2nd day was much better . The alacarte menu was very ltd choice and also had to ask the waitress if our Main Courses The Monk Fish was meant to be cold as the little white turnips were completely cold and the Monkfish was not even Luke warm. She apoligised and took back to get heated through.once this was done it was ok but by that time we were so disappointed . Then I asked if they made liqueur coffees don’t think she had heard of this. Anyway the answer was no. I should have asked for a coffee and a Liqueur on the side ,but took one of the sweets instead . A bit disappointed because of these hiccups but overall we thought it was a beautiful hotel .

There are very high quality restaurants at The Scott and its neighboring hotel The Scholar which is a 1 minute walk. The breakfast is excellent as well. Located by a bunch of bus stops which you can buy a 6 dollar bus pass for a day on the bus and tram app for Edinburgh, making transportation to the city very easy. Edinburgh has very nice busses as well.

Wonderful stay. The building is lovely and has the perfect, Scottish Country Estate feel. The bar is cozy, the breakfast delicious and all the staff are warm and welcoming. The location is very walkable from downtown Edinburgh - about 20 minutes or a quick, inexpensive Uber ride if the weather breaks. We would absolutely stay again.

Additionally the ceilings in our room are such that the bathroom mirror was exceedingly low. You’ll have to bend over to see yourself and do the tasks for which you need a mirror. Finally the location is about 25-30 walk to the Royal Mile/castle area with several good restaurants about a 10 minute walk away. All in all a nice hotel but for the aforementioned reasons 4 stars is as far as I’ll go.
