OYO Hotel Pipestone MN, Canterbury Park

The whole entire hotel smelled like cigarettes and old. The outside appearance looks terrible. Staff was never at the counter and I had to call and wait every time I couldn’t get back in my room from the key not working. The entire building needs repairs and updates.

The woman who checked us in was wonderful, very nice and helpful. However I feel like this place is one step away from being condemned. Hardly anything is in good repair. AC units with exposed wiring, a closed staircase/exit, ice machine broken, stains on sheets, cracked walls, windows and screens, broken lamps and lampshades, keys that didnt work. It didnt feel clean or safe. I had to call on a phone to get checked in and never saw another employee the entire time, even trying to call for checkout. The pictures on the website are incredibly deceiving. I dont feel Hotels.com should even let people stay here, its that bad.

Little hotel off way off the beaten path in a small farming community 30 miles from I90. Outside of the hotel is run down and parking lot has large potholes. The inside of the hotel is dated and in need of repairs. Gps leads you right to it however I was confused because hotel is not marked with an OYO sign. It’s right next to McdDonalds so that was a plus. Check in was fast. There’s a $50 incidental hold which you get back when you check out. The room had everything I needed a bed, a shower, and an air conditioner. The dead bugs were free. Breakfast was waffles and cereal. I smelled the milk to make sure it was good. Good for one night. I would not stay long term. If it wasn’t so late I would have stayed elsewhere.

Inside the room was clean and adequate. The hall was smelly, dirty, pipe leak, open ceiling tile. Trip hazard entrance rug. No juice or coffee for breakfast. Trash all around the building. The staff was nice enough.

Hotel had a different name and the sign was not lit. The staff was great, but lots of duct tape repairs. No anti slip in tub so the shower , though nice and hot, was slippery. Had to use a towel as a mat getting out.

Junk around front entrance. Clerk gave us keys to wrong room and directed us to room that already was occupied, keys were given to us in ripped, multiply written on envelope.Building & lobby looked neglected. Tub had odd large rectangle cut out of it. Wall covering was peeling off the wall near heater. Plastic screens were standing against the vent under the sink. Breakfast was less than basic. On pro side, bed was comfortable, shower was decent (if you dared to step into the tub), room lighting was exceptionally good, Iverall as feeling was of neglect. We would not return here.

Just keep driving. The only good thing here was that we didn’t experience any bed bugs, oh and the water pressure in the shower was good. Run down, bordello-ish, noisy, very dated and lifeless. Took extreme measures to not make contact with much of anything, esp the sheets. Carpet seemed to be new. Halls, dark and narrow had new flooring. Vacuum cleaner right at the top of the extremely dirty shag carpet steps. Right away, we wanted to leave.

it was not like the pictures in the add when booking.i waited 15 minutes before someone helped me.our hot room smelled really musty carpet was nasty shower curtain had mold and rust on bottom. bed was hard and pillows were flat.windows on way in front door were dirty.the tile around hot tub were cracked and wiped down around hottub floor was really dirty. vent on air conditioner was broken and dirty. no microwave , broken frig seal and frozen over.tv stations just kept buffering while watching it, ugh total disaster! i was not happy at all for the price i pd a night was very disappointing 😔. plus never got a receipt cause comp.wasnt getting signal. better get my$50.00 deposit back maybe then some! not happy at all. hot tub was dirty when started it up also.

After seeing the outside of the building, including a bullet hole in a second floor window, and the empty, cramped, pretty bad check-in area inside, we decided to move on and find another place to stay.

The hotel is need of a remodel. I was there for 5 days. Their key system is old. I had to get my card reprogrammed everyday. And with cold temperatures, and me having my hands full. I It was annoying to walk to front desk entrance when my room was near an exit to get my key reprogrammed . It was annoying. The personnel working the hotel desk were friendly. They would program key,

Sheets stained. Rags stuffed on side of ac unit. Unpatched wall in bathroom. Ended up finding another place to stay as we were grossed out

Room was very dirty. Shower didnt drain so stood in water. Beds were hard and springs poked back all night. Mold under sink. Carpets were filthy. Just not a place i would likely stay again. Service was not good. Couldnt find anyone for towels. 2 out of 10 would not recommend.

Where to begin. The place was filthy. Every surface, everywhere. Repulsive. It has to be illegal to have conditions this dirty. Never would have stayed if my card hadn't already been charged in advance. Hair and filth everywhere. Everything unswept and unvaccumed, including the lobby and courtesy kitchen. Crap running down the walls. Hole punched in door to office. Slept on top of my own blanket fully clothed. The nerve of these people to rent out this room. Also the heater was ripped apart with the dial hanging by wires. Expedia should not offer this property on their websight. But not only did they promote it to me via email, now they say there is nothing that they can do to help me get a refund. Hard to believe

we did not get any housekeeping in the 3 days we stayed we had to go buy our own kleenexs garbage bags sheets were stained top blanket was stained also

Stained carpets, poorly maintained inside and out, food on floor and counters in dining area, mold in bathrooms. The sheets were clean, but everything else is badly run-down.

Gross! Dirty lobb, dirty hallways. Tried to put us in a room that was not made up - lights on, door open, bedding piled on stained mattresses and show rod falling off.

We stayed here for 3 days for funeral reason no other place to stay not once did we have housekeeping charged us $50 for our dog sheets were stained top blanket gross black hair in tub wanted to ck i early they were going to charge us $39 never again

Room was not cleaned crumbs on the bed. No towels place smelled horrible office guy would not answer when called the number after checked in stay clear.

This hotel is nothing close to what is portrayed in Hotels.com. There was garbage all over outside, including boards with rusty nails sticking out of it. The rooms were WAY outdated, walls were paper thin, and there was grime everywhere. There was blood on the bedspread and cleaning supplies left in the bathroom. We didn’t even stay the night as the rooms and entire place were disgusting.

Overwhelming odor of weed in entrances and halls. Freezer malfunctioned during the night and dripped on floor. Sink water never heated up. Sheets didn't fit bed and were pilled. Blankets and towels were worn. Missing ceiling tiles in hallway. Weird voodoo between heater and A/C. Aggressive signs at front desk. Thin walls allowed noises from neighbors, hallway, and outside. Bathroom light switches had no face plate. Didn't even check for ice due to weed smell in halls. Room didn't have any odor itself, which was something of a miracle. Wifi worked well.

Once in awhile I get a motel room for really cheap. And then I remember why this is not often. Lumpy bed, tired and thin linens, bad pillows, sticky carpet, few toiletries. Vacuum cleaners at the top of the main stairs and in the way. Breakfast skimpy.

The walls had holes, bedding was not clean, shower had black mold along the tub. No microwave in the room.

The bed was comfortable. The lights did not work above the sink. The bathtub sink leaked and there was a large tar like stain in the middle of the floor.

Inside and out is in disrepair-peeling paint/wallpaper, grout in tub and floor were mold/dirty, burn mark on comforter, windows didn't close properly, potholes in parking lot

Unable to provide me a room key. Hotel reeked of cigarette smoke. Room was dirty. No trash can. Previous guests food left under sink. No functioning toilet.

The young man that checked us in was very friendly. The room smelled musty, the jacuzzi tub did not work and the carpet was wet

We booked online through Hotels.com, the Inn then also took our credit card when we checked in at 9:00 pm. The lobby was uninviting. The room was run down. There was hair in the shower, hair on the lamp, a stain on the sheets. The mini fridge was frozen over. I could hear people watching TV across the hall and someone cough in the room next to us, so I am sure the whole hotel could hear my toddlers cry. The worst part is after leaving, we were charged a no show fee because we showed up after 4:00, the check in time. What in the world!? We tried calling them and they would transfer us and then just hang up, several times. We tried contacting where we booked through and they can not work it out with the Inn either. The cleaning crew is bad. The management is worse.

I went to make sure the window was locked, and it was not. TV was not connected to cable. I didn't ask for help as it was late and I was tired. Bed was clean but very poor pillows, and there were no signs of bed bugs. But there are a lot of updating and fixing that needs to happen here. Yes this is a lower rate hotel but some of the basics are lacking. ie a working shower. The gentleman at the desk was very nice and kind though.

No one at the front desk and no response when we called the number left for us.

Manager was really sweet, and always made sure I had everything I needed for duration of my trip. And the waffles yummy :)

We tried to check in, but nobody answered. The doors were open, the place was filthy. We even called the police, as we were worried something might be wrong… nope, they told us to try and find some place else as they are called to this travesty quite often. We had to drive, in the deer infested, darkness, (which we were trying to avoid), 27 miles, and thank God we were able to find a room. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY!! I would recommend that you NO LONGER have that wreck on hotels.com.

PLEASE go elsewhere! This hotel was so bad we didn't even check in…because we physically couldn’t anyway! I should have known, when booking, that there was a reason it was the ONLY hotel in the area with openings. The parking lot and entry were disgusting, trashy and very run down. One second-floor window had a huge hole through it (bullet...rock??) with no attempt to fix it or cover it up. We went in and there was NO ONE at the front desk to check us in (around 8pm on a Saturday night). We waited and called out...no one showed. The lobby smelled horrible. The place didn't feel safe at all. I then called the number posted at the front desk and after two minutes on hold it disconnected me with no one answering. At this point we decided to just leave...what are you supposed to do if there's no one there? They’ve charged us as a “no show” even though WE were there, but THEY weren’t. Fighting to get our $$ back that they charged us.

This place was clean and ready. It filled the bill. It's a small local motel in a town that needs a general magic wand for its downtown; the motel just fits right in at present. The building is an older one. There are two stories, with carpeted halls. If you want fancy decor and matching curtains and bedspreads, well, go elsewhere. For the price I couldn't beat it. Yes, petunias in a few pots would help outside. Sprucing up the parking lot and the entry would also help with curb appeal. Stuff like that. But I was really sleepy and needed to crash and that went well. Bathroom was clean. Surfaces throughout were clean. I got a queen bed with 2 pillows on a weekend for $67, half of the rate I paid at a convention rate in Sioux Falls an hour away the day before. Other overnighters appear to have felt the same way. I believe that there are full-time residents here, but didn't necessarily meet them. There was noise in hall at times--the hall sounds are not muffled. A minimal breakfast was serve-yourself in front hall...juice, milk, caffeine coffee, waffles, 2 kinds of colored kiddie cereal. Might have had bread for toast also--not sure. I thought the t.v. in my room was not working, but it was fault of my purse sitting in front of the cable box. Figured it out and I got better free choices than in Sioux Falls. Not sure why it's called OYO. Sign said Pipestone Hotel or just Hotel Pipestone. Can't remember. Gal at counter was friendly and helpful and she listened.

This hotel is not a 10 but if your looking for a place to stay and just sleep it’s perfect. I’ve stayed at really fancy hotels but I have to say for the price you can’t beat it. It is convenient because ur close to everything around pipestone.

The place needs upkeep. Grout the tub and fix the trim. Lots of hot water. Staff was friendly. The place was quiet and very close to the monument.

You get what u pay for…. Booked because only rooms available in town. Sheets stained, TV broke/no signal, carpet looked like had not been vacuumed with dirt/crumbs in corners, bathroom old run down with dirt in corners, breakfast was VERY limited Positive- CHEAP, McDonalds next door and room had a refrigerator that worked (but did freeze the soda) Would NOT stay there again - would drive to neighboring town for a room

The property is run down. The room is not clean, beds and objects in room are in poor condition ( chair, fridge ect..). Tv doesnt work. Free breakfast was a single orange from the night before, and nothing else was available except old pancake mix in the fridge from the day before that was not covered.

This place is very worn and in great need of updating. The lobby area is very small and very dirty. Our room was clean enough but it was still a little unsettling with the dirtiness of the lobby. The breakfast offerings are a waffle iron, cereal and coffee. The water dispenser didn’t work and no staff were around to ask for a glass of water. We made it through but won’t go there again

The room itself was comfortable. The tub was old and the soap dish had been busted off the wall. We were only there for a few hours to sleep. The hallway had a lot of issues with busted ceiling tiles, water on the floor, very dirty. Liked the waffles for breakfast
