Stayed 2 nights

The room: This place is rough. The room has a stiff bed, toilet, shower, and a chair - that's it. It's all clean and very old. This place is LOUD 24 hrs/day - you can hear people in the lobby 3 stories down, people in the next room talking and kids running around, the cleaning ladies yelling down the halls. It sounded like there was someone in my room yelling at me all night. The hotel: has a helpful person at the desk 24/7 to open the door and help, which is nice. It's very central, 15 mins walk to the tourist spots, good restaurants around, but be aware this hotel is in the back streets of Athens which are sketchy as (not the hotels fault. The breakfast: I paid extra ($29) for breakfast included. When we went to ask for it, they asked us to pay for it, and I said it was included, and the chef looked confused. It was a black coffee/tea, an unopened tin of milk, some sliced bread and a tub of jam and butter. As we finished, another lady said "you pay now?!" and I showed them my booking and said no. Then I came back to the hotel that night and the desk lady said 'You need to pay for breakfast!". It was so unpleasant being harassed about this, for such a basic breakfast, we skipped it on the next day. We stayed 2 nights for $100/night just as a place to sleep and get breakfast before we flew out. It was so loud and uncomfortable, and the staff so aggressive about a rubbish breakfast, that we didn't even get that. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, sorry.

Stayed 3 nights

This hostel was fine, but a little bit strange. Check-in was overall speedy, but they told me they don´t have a relationship with Hotels.com and then somehow found my reservation number in a hand-written book. There was no real interaction other than confirming that their front door panel worked with the code provided. No offer of information or explanation of the hostel - I already had plans, so this was fine for me, but maybe others would appreciate it. The room was acceptable - clean enough, with standard hostel beds (not very comfortable, but certainly fine for a few nights), 2 of 4 lockers were broken. The bathroom wasn´t very clean (I was there for 3 days with other guests coming/going daily and it was clear it as not cleaned daily) and when someone showered, the water would fly all over and wet the floors - a bathmat and longer curtains would have been useful! The air conditioning was strong enough that guests needed blankets to sleep at night. There seemed to always be someone present at reception which made the hostel feel more secure and while they would always buzz me in when arriving at the front door, they basically ignored me otherwise. The neighborhood is really run down and feels unsafe. I was traveling alone (a woman) and nothing happened, but there were a few nervous moments. There seem to be a lot of people sleeping on the street, using drugs, etc. in the immediate area.

Personal ist sehr freundlich und geht vor allem auf die Frühstückswünsche ein. Außerdem ist es auch möglich dort Wäsche zu waschen.
