Best Western San Diego Pacific Beach/Mission Bay

Simple, clean, hotel room for a good price. Pool and jacuzzi in the middle of the parking lot is not very inviting.. and I would not recommend/bother with breakfast. Staff is nice and friendly.

Clean, good amount of parking and easy access to bay and highway to anywhere. Negative was that the jacuzzi jets didn’t work but the water was hot thank goodness. The access gate would be better with a room key lock because the button code didn’t always work

Rooms were clean, fluffy towels, shampoo/conditioner smelled good, coffee maker convenience. Had to switch rooms to the bottom floor due to the only elevator they had was broken. There's 3 floors. Satellite TV had no signal, had to get our room keys reprogrammed every night, we were there for 5 nights. SD Trolley stations are close by - Balboa Station is 3 minutes away, or you can walk to Clairemont Station. Daily breakfast was satisfying - make your own fluffy waffles, yogurt, cereal, toast, oatmeal, juices, coffee/tea/hot cocoa. I'd come back. For the price they charged during Comic Con, that elevator should be fixed by next week! Plenty of parking. No area light by the pool during the evening. Vending machine had $4.00 drinks. There is a 7-11 across the street.

I really enjoyed my stay! I was able to check in early, which was a huge plus. The staff was extremely friendly, informative, and accommodating throughout my visit. I appreciated having housekeeping each day, it made things so much easier. The complimentary breakfast was great for someone on the go. They had efficient grab-and-go options that worked perfectly for my schedule. I absolutely loved my room. It was spacious, very clean, and had a modern, upgraded feel. The hotel itself was quiet and peaceful, which made it a perfect spot for my trip to San Diego. Parking did get a bit tight at night, especially if you arrived late, but I was still able to find a spot even around 10 PM. Another thing I really liked was how close the hotel was to the I-5 and how quickly I could get to Mission Bay, just a quick drive down the street. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely book here again!

Not elevators, continue asking for a tv control remote, hot tub not working properly

The hotel is in a good location (if you want to be close to the Trolley stop and Mission Bay). It's a 3 story hotel and the elevator doesn't work, so you have to walk the stairs. They had a GREAT buffet breakfast-one of the better ones that I have had at a hotel. I went to the weight room to work out and pretty much everything in there was broken, so it was useless. They had a small hot tub at the pool, but the jets were broken (you could just sit in the warm water, but no jets). So, many of the amenities weren't working and the hotel itself was a little worn out, but the desk staff were helpful, the price was decent and it had a great breakfast. I would return, but I just have lower expectations now.

The elevator was out of service. I have had a hip operation and found the inoperable elevator a major inconvenience. Fortunately, I was too lazy to go back to the office for a room on the ground level.

They are going through some extensive renovations and perhaps things will improve. There is no breakfast although it is advertised. The pool isn't heated although that is also advertised. Only two pieces of equipment worked in the Fitness Center. More important, the TV pixalates, the phone in the room doesn't work and the coffee maker in the room did not have a basket to put the coffee pod in, so that also didn't work

They gave us a room that was dirty. I asked the maid if she could come and clean it she did, but she still left a bag of trash in the room. She didn’t change the sheets or the comforter, and it smelled like a dirty mop.

This hotel needs to be condemned and the health board called immediately. Under construction, but still renting rooms filled with smoke (it appears there was a fire in the walls?) and showers full of mold. The rooms look like something out of a slasher film. I am not exaggerating. Do not go here for the love of your health. I cancelled, got a refund, and will report to the health board. Hotels.com should not feature this filthy, unsafe, health hazzard of a building.

The motel was in a great location. Very convenient. The room itself was a decemnt size. Bed was comfy. The rooms did need to be cleaned better. Especially the bathrooms. There was pubic hairs all over the bathtub. One takeaway also was the pool area. It was very old. There also was a weird man wondering around the parking lot which i feel staff should have taken care of. The breakfast was fine. Quick grab and go.

This was my second time staying here. The last time I stayed was a few years ago, and I thought that it was a decent place, for the price. This time I had a completely different experience. There was major construction going on (it looked like only about a third of the rooms were open), and there was a lot of noise and dust. The room had an old carpet smell, there were visible trash on the carpet, and I found hair on the pillows. The microwave was disgusting--it looked like someone's tomato sauce had exploded inside. The shower drain was clogged and there would be a puddle of shower water as you are taking a shower. The sink was also clogged. On the last morning, while taking a shower, I found a huge roach (the biggest I've seen in my life) on the bathroom ceiling. I jumped out of the shower so fast and closed the bathroom door, hoping that it would not come out of the bathroom. I packed up my stuff and checked out a little early as I was too scared to stay in the room. The breakfast was also disappointing: toast, waffles (that you make on your own), cereal, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs (stored inside a refrigerator), and yogurt. They had bananas one day only, no other fruits. Not much source of protein. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm enough, but that was about it. I'm not sure if last time I had an exceptionally nice room and I had an exceptionally poor room this time, but if I was able to afford canceling my reservation and go to a different hotel, I would have.

The new remodel rooms are very nice and clean.

The room had mold on the walls and smelled like mildew

Our hotel room had a rotten moldy tomato on the floor. We told the office, they did not send anyone to clean. Microwave did not work, phone did not work, the blow dryer also did not work. And it stank in there. Overall bad experience with cleanliness.

The property is very conveniently located to the beach and access to freeways. The breakfast was really good. Our specific room had a very strong musty odor. The carpet turned our feet and socks black from minimal walking in the room. I think the carpet has been getting wet from the bathroom for a long time and has rotted moldings leading from the bath to the vanity from water. The smell until aired out was pretty bad, but we got in late and left early so never had a chance to change rooms. This should be urgently addressed to assess what teh black on the carpet is from.

Close to friend’s house for the airport. Convenient. Rooms seem to be remodeled and updated and they are clean. The hotel itself is older and dated.

Close walk to Mission Beach park (if you're okay walking for about a mile). Close drive to Sea World. Not much to eat or shop nearby but there are several restaurants within 10 minutes. Staff was nice and helpful. This is a "inn" meaning doors open directly to the parking lot so it did get noisy with traffic and other guests talking outside the room. I bring an air filter for white noise so didn't really bother me. Also, no real closet, just a clothes rack. Everything was clean and brand new.

Wonderful renovated rooms that are clean and brand spanking new! You can definitely hear your next door neighbors (e.g. footsteps, doors opening/closing, talking) but it didn't bother me too much. Plenty of free on-site parking as well as complimentary breakfast (although we didn't eat it). Staff is very friendly and helpful :) we only stayed one night but the price was a total steal for everything you get. A very nice motel-styled hotel!

It was Noisy, outside of my room, and I had to get up several times to check on my car. But the room was remodeled and with good lighting.

Try to get a corner room. Was an extra $5 for me and it's like a huge studio apartment!

Cable service is not good even just for local channels i.e. Ch 8 and 10. Ch 7 signal is good. CNN is a flickering ghost.

Didn’t like that the staff member checking me in shared my room number aloud in front of several other guests during my check in as well as verified personal information. There should be an area for guests to wait so those checking in can have ample amount of personal space

I had a 2 queen bed room & 1king bed room for my brother's family & my husband & I. The receptionist charged the king bed to my brother's family and she charged the two Queen to my husband & I which, should have been the reverse. Also at 2:00 in the morning the same reception is gave another couple my brother's room and the couple tried to get in and my brother had to explain to him then the room was already occupied. After that the keys to the room no longer worked for my brother and his family. The front desk was accommodating and knocked an additional $50 off the room for the inconvenience. Overall our room was not terrible, they did put us next to the laundry which apparently gets used all night long but my husband was the only one who heard it. And also we were right next to the soda machines so we had to hear people doing that all night as well. We also found a couple of pincher bugs and a baby cockroach in the room. Other than that it was clean but very old & worn. Elevator was out but we only had to go upstairs for ice. And they did let us leave our car there all day so we could carpool to SeaWorld so that was very nice. The jacuzzi was hot, according to my sister-in-law, but the jets did not work and some couples were getting a little too affectionate so she had to leave the pool area with her kids after about 30 minutes. Not a lot of TV channels. And we had a handicap room so you had to hold the shower nozzle otherwise it just sprayed the wall. The holder was stuck.

Friendly staff!

Front counter had only one staff member, waited about 25 minutes to be checked in. Clerk was very professional and cordial, despite all the people and their demands.

Upon check in we were notified there would be a water shut off from 11pm to 5am. It would have been nice to have advance notice. I called hotels.com to report the issue and when they contacted hotel management only offered $36 refund. The other option would have been to vacate within an hour for a full refund. Poor service from management. The following day I asked front desk we didn’t want housekeeping. Front desk agent said I could go to desk to grab a do not disturb sign or she could place on our door when she was available.

Dirty rooms, unprofessional reception people unwilling to assist the guests. Electrical switch in bathroom broken with missing or broken cover, closet doors all out off tracks, night table lights had missing bulbs and others unplugged! Room access doors had dirt all around. Pictures available! Receptionist AMBER was rude in all requests of guest! Unable to turn a/c too noisy. This is not a place to advertise or promote on Travelocity!

Booked/Paid for 2 nights through Expedia . When I arrived the lady in the front “warned me” about being in risk of not having channels on the tv , might not have hot water , and the power might go off (which was not noted by Expedia) I told her it’s late and my daughter was tired. I asked her if I can at least check the room before getting it to make sure the tv works for my daughter she said no. So I had no choice of taking it . Sucks.

Great centrally located hotel. Was close to all the major spots in socal. Would recommend if you want easy access to beaches like mission, La Jolla, etc. right by sea world as well.

The hotel was in a great location, easy freeway access to anywhere and a walk over the bridge to the famous mission bay park. The beds were comfortable and the room was plenty big for 4 people in the room. Great price considering location, space, comfort and value.

It is a good location to stay if you want to visit both UTC area and downtown San Diego. Less than 10 minutes from Claremont Drive Trolley Station and 10 minutes walk from Mission Bay.

Ongoing construction, so it was loud all day, and I couldn't park near my room, but the parking lot was big, and many rooms were unavailable during construction. Staff made this a good experience. Breakfast was better than expected, with homemade waffles, cold cereal, oatmeal packets, juice, bagels, and toast.

This was a great property and location for the price. Breakfast was great. Locations was perfect - right off the freeway with easy access to everything. Mission bay park was close and great for running and walking. Perfect if you're looking to not spend a ton of money. Staff and service was polite and timely.
