This property is quiet and away from town . A close walkable beach for sunset are great . best beaches are a short drive away . A car is needed to get to town or carrillo beach which is best beach nearby . Good food options in town less busy tourists than other places in cr . Car parking with bigger vehicle can be a challenge if full . Internet weak in rooms when all units are full . On site food was great.

Hideaway Hotel is a wonderful gem in Samara. From the moment we walked in the staff treated us as top-notch guests. Breakfast options were excellent and there is a beautiful beach in walking distance. Rooms are spacious, air-conditioning is ice cold, the water is hot and WiFi is fast. There’s a little pool on property that we did not swim at because we chose to go to the beach. Pool looked clean and nice just a few feet from outdoor breakfast. If you drive three minutes up the road, there is an even more gorgeous beach Playa Carrillo. Go there! – In the low season there’s virtually nobody on the beach. A brief drive into town and there are great dining options.

The staff at this hotel take great pride in providing the best possible service. We met the owner who was lovely as well. It is a small hotel with about 10-12 rooms so never crowded. It almost felt as though we were at a vacation house with friends. The pool was refreshing and the food and beverages delicious. I highly recommend the mango daiquiri. Our room was very large and comfortable with a covered patio. The grounds are beautiful and secluded. Close to 2 beaches and close to Samara as well. I highly recommend you stay here.

The distance to Samara was too far. Very intense sewer smell in the room on one night no beach chairs or umbrellas as advertised in the listing. All chairs were broken.

This place was a great choice, 2min walk from Samara beach, staff was friendly, they had onsite food available, very nice bar beverages options by the pool. Pool was kid friendly with some stairs and nice shade during the day. Room had nice A/C and very comfortable beds, was very spacious and had very nice seating area. Will definitely come back to this hotel with my family.

The staff were very friendly and worked hard. The location between playa samara & playa Carrillo was amazing. What beautiful secluded beaches. The pool was refreshing and a great way to escape the heat of the sun. They also offered beach chairs to borrow for the day. Everyone enjoyed breakfast!

Lovely B&B like a small resort (about 10 rooms). Very close to beaches; nice pool and grounds; and great staff. The rooms were spacious and clean, and had efficient, quiet AC, which is much needed in this location. The only flaw is the rutted access road/driveway.

Staff is very courteous. Clean room. Beautiful grounds. Expect limited seating around the pool because this area is small. Ocean is a flat 5 minute walk. Restaurant was delicious. Free breakfast with choices was a bonus. This small hotel does everything right.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Close enough to Samara but you do need a car. Friendly staff, amazing food, hot water, great rooms, clean, great extras like beach chairs and umbrellas. Close to beautiful beaches. Loved it!

We chose to stay at the Hideaway Hotel because of its ratings and reviews. As it turned out, these were a most reliable indicator of what to expect from the Hideaway Hotel. We offer this review as an up-to-date review - as of October 2023. This is a small hotel in a beautiful location, with a fabulous beach and reassuring pricing. Howling monkeys, iguanas and other wildlife 'perform' around the hotel grounds, as expected, daily. The hotel is immaculately clean. The room we were assigned had 2 queen sized beds, had 2 aspects of windowing, a veranda area overlooking the hotel's swimming pool (good to cool off in) and luscious, well maintained, gardens/grounds. Our bathroom/shower room was of a good size and well laid out. The accommodations do seem to be showing their age a bit; there were a few things in the room that while remaining functional, were broken or were not entirely working as they should (e.g. safe, toilet bowl, door lock, hairdryer). The staff and community in the area were very friendly. Over the week, we ate at the hotel restaurant 3 times, with no disappointments. They serve reliable, good and tasty food. Any smokers out there should be aware that if you want a smoke, it will have to be out the front of the hotel - off its grounds. It is a $10 taxi ride to the central area of Samara. Hats off to Nancy, Juan, Mary and Bryan. Having returned home with time to reflect on the way, we feel very well looked after by the small team at Hideaway.

There was a rave in a nearby property that started at 10pm on a Friday and was still going on at 2pm the following day. While the hotel mentioned that they called the police, the result was a noisy night that had serious impact in the ability of guests to sleep.

Needs to be renovated but still very nice place to stay.

We met the owner at the waterfalls in La Fontera, we drove to Samara the same night and had a wonderful stay! Wonderful staff, the breakfast included is amazing great food! Beautiful place and I felt that I was staying at a luxurious hotel. If you’re in Samara, please stay here! You will not regret it. Rooms are spacious and AC works great. Everyone from the security guard, the hosts and cook were great!!

The Hideaway Hotel is a wonderful place. My room was large and airy. A private patio looked out lush gardens. Breakfast overlooking the pool was great and plentiful with many choices- try the Típico it was really good. The staff were awesome and very polite and helpful. Nancy in particular was outstanding. I would recommend this hotel.

We had an amazing stay at the Hideaway Hotel! The room was large and clean, and the hotel was quiet. The staff we amazing with everything. They made sure that we were taken care of and went above and beyond in booking our tours! I would highly recommend staying here!

Everything was way above expectations! Accommodations were top notch. Nick and his staff treated me like family from day one. Maria, Brian, Dariela, Dana, and Nancy are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. The location is perfect and truly is a "Hideaway". Felt secluded yet only a short walk to the beach or town. Food was magnificent. I ate at a few other places but they didn't compare to their options and flavors. Highly recommend. I WILL BE BACK!! Hopefully for a longer stay. Thanks to Nick and his team for creating a memory of a lifetime!!

Incredible service, the staff is super nice and helpful. The breakfast is great especially the breakfast burritos. Our host Dania was very knowledgeable and gave us wonderful recommendations. The beach was very close and not too crowded.

We enjoyed a lovely 3 days with our 11yo and 8yo kids. Excellent service, they organized excursions for us, easy breakfast, quiet and safe.

Enjoyed our stay. The hotel was a 10 minute drive outside of Samara, which was crazy busy so nice to be in a quiet spot. 2 minute walk to the south end of Samara beach was great and this end of the beach is not crowded. Staff was super helpful and nice.

Cozy small hotel right in the middle of the forest. You will be able to see howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, multiple species of crabs, iguanas, coatis and squirrells. The hotel is in a walking distance to South Samara Beach, and 3 minute drive to Carrillo Beach (highly recomended).

The Hideaway was beautiful, The staff is incredible and so helpful and friendly, the food was delicious!! The only downside was the road to get there was REALLY bad, full of deep potholes. It would be nice if the Hideaway and other properties could divide the cost and lay some rocks, or at least fill the really big holes! Other than that, Perfect!!!

Location was horrible. A long way from everything. Road to beach was a mud puddle (although it was rainy season). Very long way from town 3-4 km’s.

Secluded south end walk to Playa Samara Beach. Monkeys serenade you everyday. very good kitchen. Close to Samara Village and Playa Carillo. Not really close enough to walk. Peaceful.

Las habitaciones son muy espaciosas y limpias. El hotel se encuentra en una zona algo apartada lo que la hace muy tranquila pero si se quiere variedad en la alimentación requiere trasladarse. El menú del restaurante del hotel es un poco limitado y no fue mi aspecto favorito del hotel.
