SpringHill Suites by Marriott Houston Downtown/Convention Center

The hotel was conveniently located close to the venue, but check in was a horror show. The only valet park and only had three at the most valets. I waited behind a dozen or so cars for over 30 minutes just to get someone to come address my intentions. Cars were lined up (including me) in the street before we could enter the drive up to the check in point. There was no street parking, as the signs everywhere indicated a tow away zone. Breakfast hours were 6 - 9 AM, but when we came down at 8:15AM they were out of several of the staple breakfast food items. The suite was very nice, looking even better than the photo but the mattress was too soft for me.

I stayed for 5 days. The hotel is nice. It is very convenient to things downtown. The weight room was useful. Front desk staff was helpful. Just wished the maid would have taken out the trash and cleaned bedding during my stay. I shouldn’t have to ask for clean towels after 3 days.

No airport shuttle for guests, only 1 elevator working so wait times were ridiculous, we were on 16th floor. The pool is shared with another hotel and literally only 6 lounge chairs by the pool. Plenty of room for more. Staff and cleanliness were great. More care needs to be taken for actual property. A hotel of this size should offer airport shuttle.

Love everything about my stay except that the elevator was broken and parking went up.

The elevators never work , and the breakfast is bad

Considering there were three big events (Cubs in town, Pride Parade, Beyoncé) going on in the area, the lobby was well managed and the service was great. We went to the Astros game and it was an easy walk - 20 minutes. Only one ice machine in the entire hotel seemed to be working. We had a little trouble figuring out how to get in.to the hotel Three Marriott properties together with confusing exterior signage made us unsure where to enter.

Was confused upon checking in like many others as I read later online, because there are two hotels in the same building: Springhill Suites & Courtyard, both by Marriott. There is no self parking on the property only $60 valet. However, we discovered the 1110 Travis Garage ended up being a great option. We stayed on a Sunday night, and when we left Monday morning, the cost was only $10! The location is great, right in the middle of downtown. The room was very spacious, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom setup was good with shelves to place items. There was no hook on the back of the bathroom door to hang our travel toiletry bag. It was pretty noisy at times, which is understandable with being downtown, but we heard loud cars/motorcycles and larger trucks with their “backing up” sound quite a bit and clearly. Breakfast was amazing! Turkey sausages, cage free scrambled eggs, oatmeal and several toppings, and the best waffles I’ve had from a hotel in a long while! Very soft and fluffy! Chocolate, whole and 2% milk in bottles/cartons. Overall, we were a little skeptical initially, but after our trip, we were satisfied with our experience here. Don’t forget to get Frank’s Pizza delivered and tip well because they are always extremely busy and deliver on bikes! Get the classic pepperoni and/or simply cheese. The “cheese sticks” were also delicious.

We really enjoyed the pool area! Nice, quiet and low key. Could also be good for familes with children, though I don't think the pool depth is more than 5 feet, so younger children may need a vest or waterwings.

OK, it was an OK hotel. Two things really made the stay less than stellar. The valet parking was very expensive. The staff of the valet parking were excellent and they were friendly and helpful but at over 60 a day, it was too much money for downtown Houston. The only other complaint was that the room was very bright while trying to sleep. I woke up often thinking it was daytime because the outdoor uplighting punctures the spaces around the blackout and essentially lights up the entire room. I would suggest that they turn those lights off after midnight or something or invest is some additional blackout materials. I woke up a lot because of this.

Advertised Parking, but in reality there was no parking. If they had disclosed it properly we would have chosen something else

The shower was dirty broken appliances in the room just not the best stay.

I stayed in a room that the shower any time it was one made a banging noise, the whole time, unless the water was on high. We had to ask for toilet paper because they didn’t restock that in the 4 nights we were there, and they only came in one time for room service to give us clean towels in our room and take out trash. The room itself was so awkwardly layed out, anyone in the bathroom was right across from the people in the 2 beds. I would spend the money to stay somewhere else and not recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay more than 1 night.

We made use of the breakfast every morning. It was kept very clean and orderly. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Didn't get fresh towels and they didn't clean the room, and one of the staff i called to get out sorted was quite rude

Very disappointed in the cleaning staff at the hotel. Our room was not cleaned after our first night. The towels where not replenished, the dirty ones left on the floor where not picked up, the garbage was not emptied and dirty glasses where not removed or replaced, coffee was also not replaced. When mentioned at the front desk it was looked after that day to some extent. The towels where removed and replaced, garbage was emptied but the glasses were not removed or replaced and the coffee was not replenished. Also needed to ask to have toilet paper replaced after three days as it was never done. The other issue for the hotel was there where three elevators but only one worked during our four day stay. The food in the dining room was exceptional as well as the service.

Bed bugs in our room. It was terrible with kids around. Very bad expericence.

Lots of stains on ceiling and walls. TV situated in wrong place. The room images seen on website is not what you get and how it looks. Some of the staff is a bit rude. Bedding for sofa bed was not removed or packed back properly. Room was not cleaned properly. Bathroom parts are updated but cupboards are dated, carpet floors were dirty and needs vacuumed or deeper cleaning. Marriott is misrepresented here.

We were very disappointed with housekeeping as our room was only cleaned once over our 4 day stay and it seemed only at our request. Otherwise we were pleased with the hotel.

Property is very old and needs updates ASAP. Rooms are very large, that helps, but they do need to be remodeled. There are 3 hotelss on the same building and can be very confusing. PARKING ONSITE IS FOR $60 per day, or else, you need to go 3 blocks away. The are is not necesarily unsafe, but it feels unsafe. There are lots of homeless people laying on the florr, lots of tourists driving scooters, there is athe metro that runs a block away, there is a stop roght there. Suggestion, do not rent a car. Use uber or the metro, much cheaper and less hassle. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. But the cleaning is not good. Floors were dirty, my bed one time was undone on the corners or using the imcorrect sheet size, and the first day even had a huge stain of coffee, or something like that. Had to ask them to bring new sheets, snd though they offered to send somebody to do the bed and I said no, they didnt insist either or offer apologies for the mix up. I was tired and wanted to sleep, we had arrived from the airport late and found my bed being like that. There are restarurants in the area, and is a walkable area, but I suggest only during the day. The one convenient thing is is very close to the convention center, concert hall and Baseball field, AND STARBUCKS is right ln the corner, lifesaver. Breakfast was good, varied and plentiful. I’ll give you that. But the hotel was not pretty. I would not stay here again.

Great downtown hotel, walking distance to entertainment and retail. Our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Accessible bathroom had all modern accommodations.

Clean Room, spacious and perfect location

Hotel definitely shows its age. Only one elevator worked while we were there and with 15 floors that's an issue. Breakfast was very good and staff very professional. Rooms are big and bed comfortable. Good for short stay. Well situated downtown.

No hot water the first night. Very slow elevators. Internet went down so we waited for about 45 min after getting into Houston around 9:45pm. The fitness center was good and room was well cared for. But there was the smell of Marijuana on our floor

Rooms need a little update kinda stuck in 90s but were clean.

Great location and price plus the staff was nice.The only issue i had is the shower had no place to place my bar soap or my wifes liquid soap. We literally had to place them on the shower floor while taking a shower. Room 1213. Im not sure if all rooms are this way.

Our room was by the elevators. The noise kept us awake all night. Not a good experience The three hotels being together was confusing

Bathroom has no shelves to put any personal items. Shower has no where to put soap or shampoos. Bathroom door has a silhouette glass that you can see through it! Room had no counter space for stuff or luggage rack. Room is definitely smaller than what is pictured!

The room had a great bathroom & bedroom space but we were terribly disappointed with the sofa bed. The sofa bed barely held one person because the mattress was not even full sized. Also it was very worn & thin.

Wonderful stay! We did have a hiccup with the valet got rained on but as soon as we walked in the front desk representative brought towels out for us! It was so thoughtful.

Brennan at the check in desk was incredibly pleasant and able to refer us to an amazing restaurant within walking distance. His attention to the specifics of our requests was well above expectations. Sofia in the bar catered to our unique beverage requests without hesitation. The personal attention by this property’s staff has ensured we return to this establishment for our future trips to Houston.

I didn’t like that I requested to speak with management my entire stay and still haven’t heard back from anyone. I had questions about my bill when I checked in and was told no one could do anything except for management. I’ve called and left voicemails but still no response. My room was freezing cold until maintenance finally came after I waited hrs to get it fixed. Someone from housekeeping also came into my room around 9:30am and checkout wasn’t even until 12 noon. I was also overcharged for parking. It was just not a overall good stay and Ive actually been booking rooms since 3/23 as part of a tour that my artist is performing for and this has been the first mix up with my bill and overall service. I was very disappointed and probably will never book there again.

The staff was extremely unprofessional and rude. The hotel does not even provide one bottle of complimentary water. Other than that if you agree to pay they ask you to come get it from the reception, saying no staff to deliver. Embarrassing

I received a notice less than 12 hours before I was supposed to check in that they sent me an email that stated that they "could not accommodate my reservation" and placed me in a hotel over 15 minutes away from my convention. When I requested to speak to the agent, she said she had 'left the property and someone would follow up in the morning'. Which turned out to be false, when I called the front desk the person told me she was still there. Inexcusable.

The staff were so welcoming and fixed concerns almost immediately. Our shower had no pressure we told them and had a new one before we were back from our days adventures. They listened attentively and were super amazing. The rooms were clean and comfortable and spacious

The breakfast was hot and fresh, with a wide variety of options to chose from. The room was clean, and had everything you needed. Staff was professional and accommodating.

It was excellent stay in very convenient location. We were allowed to check in early in the morning. So we could explore Houston attractions including the downtown aquarium.

Close to Minute Maid

Stayed one night with my daughter. We were in town for a concert. Easy walk to the Toyota Center. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was nice, clean, and spacious enough. To be honest we did not use the pool or did we eat on the property but all of that was available. Because of the location you pretty much have to valet your car, but in downtown Houston that is pretty much the case at most hotels. So just plan on paying the fee and its so much easier.

The hotel provided a wonderful blend of comfort, cleanliness, and hospitality. Its prime location in downtown made it easy to explore the city.

Had a girls’ trip in Houston. The hotel was great! The staff was great! Great location! I will definitely stay here again!

Excellent location if you want to stay in downtown Houston, and the service from the staff is great. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and it is good value for money too. The lack of 'soft-product' amenities like a proper lobby bar/restaurant and mini-bar let this place down slightly, and the swimming pool is nothing to write home about. But could not fault it for cleanliness, service, or location, so was overall very happy with my stay. 4/5.

Love this hotel. Always stay here when we come in for Astros games. Always clean, the staff is wonderful and the breakfast is always great. And the location is awesome.
