We had a very peaceful stay. Staffs were all nice. Free breakfast was good. Close to Elephant Rocks, Johnson's Shut-Ins, and Taum Sauk Mountain State Park. Few steps away to Baylee Jo's where we had dinner.. food was good.

The owner was very welcoming to his motel. Eager to fill us in on all of the free state parks in the area. We felt very safe and comfortable. The breakfast was as good as most major hotels. Right in the parking lot was a good restaurant that he also owned.

The owners of this property were very friendly and really wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. I honestly can't remember ever staying in a place that was cleaner. The room we had was extremely clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to visit our son.

I was highly impressed with my stay ! The staff was so friendly and inviting the view was beautiful, and they even own a restaurant on site that was only steps away from our room which made dinner a no brainer. The only thing I think they could improve on is the cleanliness of the hot tub in the room we rented. Even after cleaning twice the jets were still pumping out some type of black residue. The room was clean and the kitchen was updated and even had utensils and pots and pans to cook with . I have nothing but great things to say about this place . Me and my family drove for 5 plus hours to get there and they made it such a lovely experience after a long drive . We will be back for sure !

We lived in Arcadia Valley 20 years ago. We revisited to show our grandson where his dad grew up. We were pleasantly surprised when we booked your motel. The renovations were nicely done. Your manager was very friendly and picked the perfect room for us as we returned daily from hiking and visiting old friends. The daily breakfast exceeded our expectations especially the warm food. Every area was clean and well kept by management and cleaning team. We recommend this motel to others when they visit.

I was frankly amazed at the rehab done on this old fashioned motel structure. When combined with exceptionally friendly service, meticulous cleaning and quiet, you have everything needed for a lovely country visit. And of course you have amazing State parks and sites an easy drive away.

There’s a lot of highway noise. It’s dated, a bit musty in the room, but it was very clean. Floor was soft in places. Had to leave a day early, but there was no refund for the last night. There was a hot breakfast which was really good. It’s a decent place to lay your head for a night.

Older motel, but clean and comfortable. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette for the extra space but this would have been good if you actually wanted to use the kitchenette. We did use the fridge. There was a hot breakfast included.

Exceptionally friendly staff, rooms were very nicely equipped and clean. Very impressive how they have kept up the rooms. Wifi issues on the backside rooms, atleast ours. Breakfast is a step above your typical 2.5-3 star hotel, which was nice.

Great room & great value. Friendly staff, very quiet, plenty of parking right by my room. The back door of my room backed right up to a stream and the windows in the bedroom opened so I could sleep with the crisp fall air and it was so quiet I wasn't disturbed sleeping with the windows open. The suite was spacious & clean with nice room upgrades I didn't expect for the price like fancy dimmable lighting and a fancy bathroom-I'm amazed the suite was so reasonably priced given how nice it was. There were 2 restaurants within walking distance and also a small grocery store that had everything I needed. I was disappointed to only have stayed 2 nights; my next Ozarks vacation will feature a longer stay at Shepherd Mountain Inn!

I really liked this family-run motel. Not everything is up-to-date, but it was clean and homey. There is a creek out the back that my kids walked along. The breakfast is quite nice - and some of it was home made. I asked my kids and they would enthusiastically stay here again. Keep in mind that this is not a place that has a "big city" hotel feel. Embrace it for what it is, and you will like the Shepherd Mountain Inn.

Like a newly remodeled I bedroom apartment. Clean and the jacuzzi tub was a great way to unwind after a day at Johnson Shut-ins. Close to Elephant Ear State park too. The owners son was our host for the weekend and he was great. Breakfast was perfect & my husband and I feel very refreshed.

Check in was very easy, the woman at the desk was friendly, gave us suggestions for dinner and over all over our stay was fine. The restaurant next door was excellent, room was very clean, towels were new, easy parking. New carpet, window coverings and bed covers would really update the rooms.

The owner was very nice. We had made a reservation for a room type that was being renovated and he gave us two adjoining rings instead since it was not busy. Good breakfast and friendly service. He provided recommendations for things to do and see. I would definitely go there again if I'm in the area.

The rooms were very nice inside, the outside looks like a simple motel. There apparently was a boil order but they never told us guests until next morning and only because I came in to office. Friends made coffee with tap water…. I would suggest some hooks in the bathroom.

Well designed room. Very clean. Recently renovated. Has everything you need and a great restaurant right across the parking lot. Great location if you are visiting Taum Sauk, Elephant Rocks or Johnson's Shut-ins. Great owners. Didn't miss a beat even though the hotel was at capacity for the solar eclipse. Will be back to enjoy autumn in the Ozarks.

Room was very clean. A little smaller than I expected but was everything we needed. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok didn’t like sausage but my partner did so just me. Potatoes were a little tough but we didn’t get to breakfast until later when served. Over all great experience!

Lots of nice touches in the room. Very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food at the resturand was very good. Hotel free breakfast was very good tasting. (Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon and potatoes and many other options)They used real dishes and silverware. Real glass drinking glasses in the room as well. Plenty of coffee packets in the room so we didnt have to always ask for more. Appliances worked perfectly and were.clean. Just a nice overall experience.

The entire reason I stayed here for two days, instead of a cheaper hotel, was the breakfast. In fact we would have left earlier in the morning, but we chose to wait until the breakfasts 8 AM start time. But we were told there we be no breakfast because there were not enough customers currently staying to make it worth the time. Strange, as they also have a restaurant on site. No omelet? Not even offering a voucher of some sorts? We were offered a few pieces of fruit We declined an headed to McDonald's for hot breakfast and a coffee. Facility and rooms were spotless. Staff was polite. But I would have stayed at my number two choice if I wasn't anticipating a breakfast.

This is the third year in a row I’ve stayed at the Shepard Inn… Family owned and operated, the rooms are immaculate and well maintained, the hot breakfast with scrambled Eggs, homemade sausage patties, home fries and biscuits with gravy were outstanding!
