We discovered a lovely gem in Yudanaka, Hotel Housei, a mere 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Station. For added convenience, the hotel offers complimentary pickup and drop-off services from the station with prior arrangement. The hotel's personalized touch impressed us: - Complimentary shuttle services to and from the famous Snow Monkey park at our desired times - Spacious rooms with beautiful tatami mats and stunning outdoor/indoor onsen facilities The dinner was exceptional – Sukiyaki beef. Breakfast was traditional Japanese-style, adding to the authentic experience. Hotel Housei exceeded our expectations, and we would love to return. Additional amenities include a spacious waiting lobby.

Returned visit. Like this small province. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Cosy and spacious room. Family run ryokan. Provides complimentary shuttle to nearby train station and snow monkey park which is very much appreciated. However, shuttle service from station to hotel will not be entertained after 8pm. It is not a ski in / out hotel. Need to take the hotel shuttle to station to take another bus service to go up the ski station vice versa. Do advise the arrangement of return pick up with the hotel from the station after confirming which timing of bus approaching the station from the ski station. The hot spring is beautiful with the outdoor view. Thank you for the hospitality.

The staff was friendly and nice. The van driver gave us rides to and from Snow Monkey Park and to the train station - very helpful! We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast came with the plan. We also enjoyed the inside/outside hot springs. Affordable hotel with excellent customer service!

We booked two nights here, and it was amazing. The staff was very attentive and helpful, they even shuttle you to and from monkey park, and the train station! Which I had no idea, so it was a lovely surprise. The outdoor and indoor baths were a fun experience. Our rooms were also clean and comfortable to be in. We’re not used to the traditional Japanese beds, but we managed! Overall experience was lovely. I will definitely be going back next time

Expedia said this hotel has laundry service. However, when we ask the hotel staff about where we can use the laundry, they recommend us go to coin laundry shop which need 9-11 mins walk. I think the hotel info provided in Expedia is not accurate.

駐車場はありますが、車のキーを預けて宿の方が移動させるので、頻繁の車で出かけるのには向いていません。 長野マラソンの宿泊客には慣れているので、朝も早くからチェックアウトができ、車も直ぐに持ってきてくれました。 設備は値段なりで、畳は張り替えてありましたが設備の古さは目立ちます。 温泉は広くゆったり浸かれますが、露天は結構熱かったので、子供は入れないかもしれません。

It was really nice, we had 2 rooms for our family and one of the room had a private hot spring (I think they only have it in the first floor). When you’re booking it’s better to book the rooms in one name if you’re planning on multiple rooms, so that way they can put you guys together but it was fine because we got one room with an Onsen. They also park your car for you because they have their own parking space and they give back your keys at check out.

체크인부터 체크 아웃까지 친절했습니다. 조식은 기본적인 깔끔한 식단이 였습니다. (간단한 빵과 과일, 죽과 간단한 일본 가정식) 석식은 사시미 (회)와 메인 (찜이나 샤브계열 간단한 불로 조리하는 음식)3가지가 나오고 디저트도 함께 나옵니다. 회는 항상 주시고 메인요리는 매일 변경됩니다. 직접 가져오는 주류도 함께 먹을수도 있고 호텔 로비에 주류도 팔고 있어서 석식때 구입하여 같이 먹을 수 있습니다. 숙소는 전체적으로 큰 편이구 단지 벽쪽에서 찬바람이 나옵니다. 그리고 온풍기로 난방을 하다보니 실내가 많이 건조해집니다. 온천은 생각보다 작으며 그래도 야외 온천탕과 내부 온천탕이 있으며 깨끗하게 관리 되고 있습니다. 탕의 온도는 계란 반숙이 될거 같은 매우 뜨거운 온도일때가 가끔있습니다. (매우 뜨겁습니다.) 렌트카를 이용하신다면 호텔 직원분이 주차도 해주십니다. (시간을 말하면 차를 호텔 앞에 준비도 시켜주십니다.) 근처 스키장과 원숭이 공원은 무료 픽업 서비스를 해주시는걸로 알고있습니다. お世辞にもお部屋は綺麗とは言えません。 浴衣・スリッパのサイズは1サイズのみ。宴会場ですれ違った大柄の男性はアニメキャラクターのバ◯ボンのように浴衣の丈が膝下2センチくらいの着こなしになっていました。 人手不足からかお風呂の脱衣場は定期的な掃除が出来ておらずバレリーナのようにつま先で歩かなくてはなりません。 建物は老朽化が進み、増改築を繰り返したのかとても複雑な構造です。火災がおこらないことを祈りました。 夕食は宴会場に用意されます。煮物は着席してから、茶碗蒸しは直前に置いてくださったのでしょう。温かく美味しくいただきました。 朝食はバイキング。まあ、それなりです。残念なのは用意されていたジュースが100％ではなかったこと。このあたりは健康意識をあげなければいけませんね。 ここまぜ酷評でなぜ5スターをつけたのか？ それはスタッフの方々に嫌な思いを一つもしなかったからです。 今回、わたしたちの旅は愛犬のお誕生日を祝うために近くにある「三才駅」に行くことが目的でした。そのためには愛犬と泊まれる宿探しをChatGPTと使い検索しました。愛犬同伴の確認をメールでしたところとても温かい返信をいただき、到着してからも犬にも私達にも優しく接していただきました。 苦しいコロナ期を乗り越えた旅行業界はこれから回復していかなければなりません。とても応援したくなるそんな宿でした。 脱衣場にルンバを置いて、浴衣はフロントで選ぶ。 これだけで少し改善できるかも。。。

Amazing stay. The gentleman at the front desk who spoke great English was lovely, he helped us with everything and was also attentive during our kaiseki dinner, helping explain everything. We had a tatami room, it was nice, the bathroom a little dated, but the onsen was fabulous. The outdoor onsen was beautiful. Loved our stay here and can recommend it to anyone.

The staff were very helpful. The room was spacious. It was amazing to have our own private in-room onsen! We really enjoyed that. It was wonderful to have close access to the Jigakudani Monkey Park and the amazing mountain peaks. My complaint might be directed toward the property or it might be directed toward Expedia. Expedia explicitly stated that there was laundry, but there was no laundry available in the hotel. I specifically looked to book a hotel with laundry in the midst of our mountain trekking trip. I had to schlep my family's bags of dirty clothes 15 minutes across town and sit in a laundromat since there was none in the hotel. Expedia and Hotel Housei need to sit down together and get all the facts straight!

Manager and staff were super friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious. Traditional sleeping mat was very comfortable and I probably got my best night's sleep while on this trip. We loved the size of the rooms. The views from the rooms were spectacular too. However, most staff cannot converse well in English hence do note. Loved the onsen. Only issue was that our request in getting extra towels was rejected.

It was really nice, we had 2 rooms for our family and one of the room had a private hot spring (I think they only have it in the first floor). When you’re booking it’s better to book the rooms in one name if you’re planning on multiple rooms, so that way they can put you guys together but it was fine because we got one room with an Onsen. They also park your car for you because they have their own parking space and they give back your keys at check out.

This place is simply a gem, everything about the hotel, staff, food was too class and a major benefit was the free on site onsen facilities. It is close to the train station and plenty of great dinning options within easy walking distance from the hotel. The hotel also offers free shuttle bus services for you to the station, the snow monkeys and a few other places, they even took me to the chemist to get medicine for one of our family group members. Cannot rate this hotel highly enough👍

Amazing stay. The gentleman at the front desk who spoke great English was lovely, he helped us with everything and was also attentive during our kaiseki dinner, helping explain everything. We had a tatami room, it was nice, the bathroom a little dated, but the onsen was fabulous. The outdoor onsen was beautiful. Loved our stay here and can recommend it to anyone.

The staff provided such a warm welcome and really helped create an enjoyable visit for our family. We very much appreciated the complimentary shuttle service and while we only speak English, the staff were so patient with us and we were able to communicate fine. We appreciated being able to store our luggage there after check out. The Japanese-style room with tatami mats and futons really completed our memorable experience of traditional Japanese hospitality. Thank you.

Loved my stay at Hotel Housei. Yamanouchi is one of my favourite places in Japan and this is a great place to stay as it is within walking distance of Yudanaka and Shibu Onsen. Hotel Housei provides shuttle service to Snow Monkey Park and Ski areas nearby. Dining and breakfast options were great. I must also mention the staff is very English-friendly which made things very easy for me.

Staying at the hotel was a unique Japanese experience. Outdoor onsen was magical. Freezing out of the water, but lovely and warm in the water. There was a Japanese garden around the bath. Staff were friendly and had a good sense of humour. There was a free shuttle to the station and the snow monkey park. The hotel was only 8 minutes walk from the station. Thank you Housei Hotel for an enjoyable stay.

Really enjoyed my 6-night stay here. It really is a traditional Japanese hotel and experience and loved the friendly and helpful staff, and the location is just a short 10 min scenic stroll across the river to the bus/train station. Didnt know what to expect but the Japanese style tatami rooms were cosy and comfy, and the outdoor onsen was just what was needed after a day on the ski slopes. The half-board option is a must if you love Japanese food and each night was like a little banquet with an array of different and fresh local dishes, and was great value. Not a 5-star hotel by any means if thats your thing, but all in all a great stay and good location and Yudanaka is quaint little village at the foot of the Alps, that is worth a wander around, as Shibuya Onsen and Snow Monkeys are closeby. Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu

We stayed here for the ryokan experience and to visit the snow monkeys which we perfectly achieved. The dinner was a masterpiece with so many small dishes I couldn’t count. The staff were lovely and helped get us to the snow monkeys for opening time and arranged to collect us to drop us back to the station which was so appreciated.

The staff were attentive and engaging, taking the time to introduce the dinner menu to us. Chose this place for my children's first ski experience. Just a 30-minute drive to Shiga Kogen where all the ski resorts are. The hotel offers both indoor and outdoor onsens. Simply superb for a hot, relaxing soak after a day on the ski slopes. Really fantastic stay. Both for the experience, and easy location to the monkey park (which the staff provided a free shuttle to and from). Decided to go for half board - breakfast/dinner - and the food was SO good, especially the second night’s dinner. Staff were all wonderful and attentive and the Onsen (indoor and outdoor) was the perfect way to end the day. 10/10 recommend and will stay here again if I’m back in the area.

The Onsen was wonderful and relaxing, staff were extremely friendly and provided services like a pickup/dropoff at the train station and a shuttle to the entrance to the Snow Monkey Park. There was also a great view of the town from our window on the 4th floor.
