Great place. Nice old style pub downstairs Rooms really really good. An excellent conversation/refurbishment with high quality fissures and fittings. Bed good shower excellent

Excellent staff, very clean room, nice bar with plenty of choice, breakfast was lovely, (i had the english breakfast), all for a bargain price in my view, would definitely stay again, in fact we already plan to stay here when were in the area again, if i had one small niggle it would be the quality of the rump steak i had in the evening, it was a very tough bit of meat, it wasnt the way it was cooked as it was exactly as I'd asked for, it was just quite tough and stringy

This is a lovely friendly pub with excellent staff. The locals were welcoming as well. The beer brewed on the premises was excellent as was the food. I can't fault our stay there. Plenty of parking at the pub now, with a new car park. Handy travel time to Critch, Matlock and the Peak District. Located on the side of a steep hill, so walking anywhere is a good bit of exercise!

Staff friendly, room clean and comfortable. Would have been nice to have a chair to sit on instead of a stool. Lots of people in the bar downstairs but we couldn’t hear them.

Very welcoming and helpful staff. Great food, good pint, reasonably priced. Obviously recently refurbished, very comfortable and quiet room. Zero complaints and will very happily stay again.

Lovely stay. Super friendly and hospitable staff. Room was very comfortable and looked brand new. Pub is lovely with great beers, and fabulous service. It was a perfect stopover for us from the south on our way up to York. Not too far from the M1 but right in the heart of the beautiful Derwent Valley. only 2 things that would have made it better (for us)... 1. a little more 'fresh' options on the menu - lots of the food was 'brown and fried' which is fine for a pub, but a few more healthier options would have been great. 2. Move the pub closer to the canal!! We were hoping to be close to a canal to take a walk, but we had to drive a few miles to pick up the canal walk.

Had a lovely stay here, the staff were very hardworking & extremely helpful, food was also very good. Our room was spotlessly clean & very nicely decorated. Would highly recommend.

Just an overnight stay at the canal inn and must say couldn't fault it whatsoever. We had evening meal and breakfast which was excellent. The room 06 was spotless and spacious. We would both highly recommend the canal inn to everyone and look forward to visiting again.

The room was immaculate and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good but sadly we did not enjoy our evening meal. The vegetables that accompanied my main course amounted to a couple of forks and were very overcooked. My wife's venison pie was full of gristle. We would stay at the Canal Inn in the future but would not have an evening meal. Not a nice experience and made the stay less than perfect.

Lovely clean, comfortable room, slept like a log. Service in the bar/restaurant was superb. Got there just before the kitchen closed on a Sunday and nothing was too much trouble. Will 100% stay again.

Just staying at the newly renovated Canal Inn and got to say it’s one of the best value places I have ever stayed, beautiful appointed bedroom and bathroom and a quality freshly cooked breakfast for the same price of a bland generic hotel in a beautiful part of Derbyshire. 20 mins walk to the train station if your looking to go further a field to Matlock

We arrived a little later than planned but the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely, very clean and lots of space. The evening meal and breakfast had great vegan options. I cannot thank the staff enough, a really lovely environment! A really lovely little hide away!

Great food, great service. Now my second stay and will be returning. Very impressed with the young lad working there, he was fantastic. Checked us in, covered the bar (even put a shamrock in my Guinness!) and covered the kitchen for our dinner and breakfast the following morning. What a great asset he is!

This hotel was just ideal! Was made to feep so welcome, helpful with information. Perfect location for where we needed,the room had everything we needed. Honestoy above and beyond.

Just staying at the newly renovated Canal Inn and got to say it’s one of the best value places I have ever stayed, beautiful appointed bedroom and bathroom and a quality freshly cooked breakfast for the same price of a bland generic hotel in a beautiful part of Derbyshire. 20 mins walk to the train station if your looking to go further a field to Matlock

Lovely stay. Super friendly and hospitable staff. Room was very comfortable and looked brand new. Pub is lovely with great beers, and fabulous service. It was a perfect stopover for us from the south on our way up to York. Not too far from the M1 but right in the heart of the beautiful Derwent Valley. only 2 things that would have made it better (for us)... 1. a little more 'fresh' options on the menu - lots of the food was 'brown and fried' which is fine for a pub, but a few more healthier options would have been great. 2. Move the pub closer to the canal!! We were hoping to be close to a canal to take a walk, but we had to drive a few miles to pick up the canal walk.

Excellent staff, very clean room, nice bar with plenty of choice, breakfast was lovely, (i had the english breakfast), all for a bargain price in my view, would definitely stay again, in fact we already plan to stay here when were in the area again, if i had one small niggle it would be the quality of the rump steak i had in the evening, it was a very tough bit of meat, it wasnt the way it was cooked as it was exactly as I'd asked for, it was just quite tough and stringy

We arrived a little later than planned but the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely, very clean and lots of space. The evening meal and breakfast had great vegan options. I cannot thank the staff enough, a really lovely environment! A really lovely little hide away!

Just an overnight stay at the canal inn and must say couldn't fault it whatsoever. We had evening meal and breakfast which was excellent. The room 06 was spotless and spacious. We would both highly recommend the canal inn to everyone and look forward to visiting again.

This is a lovely friendly pub with excellent staff. The locals were welcoming as well. The beer brewed on the premises was excellent as was the food. I can't fault our stay there. Plenty of parking at the pub now, with a new car park. Handy travel time to Critch, Matlock and the Peak District. Located on the side of a steep hill, so walking anywhere is a good bit of exercise!

The room was immaculate and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good but sadly we did not enjoy our evening meal. The vegetables that accompanied my main course amounted to a couple of forks and were very overcooked. My wife's venison pie was full of gristle. We would stay at the Canal Inn in the future but would not have an evening meal. Not a nice experience and made the stay less than perfect.

It was a pity that breakfast wasn’t served on a Monday morning but my room was superb, the staff very friendly and helpful - a quiet night’s sleep! 😊

We only stayed one night and we had booked the 'superior' room - which was well worth it. Lovely big room, king sized bed, giant bathroom with corner bath, walk in shower and his and hers sinks. Loved the wooden furniture so much I googled the makers website to find that they're made of oak by a company in nearby Matlock. I'm not a carpenter but I could tell that they were made by craftspeople. Nice ambience in the pub area, good menu and we tried their own brewed ales from their micro brewery. I was interested in the local history of the area as I couldn't spot the canal... Hearty breakfast too! There was plenty of on-site parking and handy for the Crich Tramway Museum.

Room was clean, bottom side of shower needs a clean, in between shower and cupboard. Toilet roll holder needs replacing. Staff helpful. I would stay there again.
