Nice, quiet resort on Phu Quoc with comfortable bungalows (the beachfront ones are best), a beautiful, uncrowded beach, and mostly very friendly staff. Breakfast was mediocre but included a small Western buffet and a few à la carte Vietnamese options. We stayed about 10 days and had to switch bungalows midway. Unfortunately, my husband became extremely ill the night before the move. In the morning, the front desk insisted we check out at 12pm unless we paid 500k VND for late checkout and said we couldn’t access the new room until 2pm, even after I explained we were current guests, and my husband was extremely sick and sleeping between bouts of violent vomiting. They suggested he wait on a beach chair for two hours, even though there was no way housekeeping can clean all rooms at once. Housekeeping, however, was absolutely wonderful. I went and spoke with them and explained our situation, they cleaned the new room as soon as the old guests checked out and let us move just before 1pm. As I was leaving the old bungalow, the front desk came over and complained that we had “gotten in the way” because “the new guests wanted to check in”. I politely reminded him that check-in was not until 2pm. Most staff were lovely, but this situation left a bad impression and would make me hesitant to stay again.

The rooms are very well equipped, the shower is lovely and the bed is comfortable. The beach is spectacular and the pool is a good size for the number of rooms, always enough beds at both. The water at the beach has a few rocks but otherwise soft sandy bottom. The food at the restaurant is 1-4/5 stars depending on what you order. Our favourites were the breaded shrimp with passion fruit sauce, the dumplings and dim sum. The rice and noodle dishes we had were good but needed doctoring with chili sauce and pepper to be delicious…maybe just my taste but I think they’re kind of bland. The cocktails were outstanding. The service is very lacking. Not enough staff seems to be the biggest problem but we constantly had to go find someone if wanted something else or the bill. They basically take your order and drop off food then you never see them again. It’s also a little remote so you’re at the mercy of what the minibar and the restaurant offers. Buy snacks and drinks on the way or ride the free bicycles into town.
