The breakfast was delicious and the staff super friendly and warm. We really enjoyed the library and having tea in the afternoon in the parlor.

It does not state on line this room is not part of the main house and that we would have a mini lock to open the sliding door. The greeting was not warm another couple arrived at the same time and she would only let one of us in at a time. Breakfast same quiche 2 days in a row. Cutting danish in half and serving juice in mini Dixie cups. The grounds have not been kept up. Did not feel safe in the room. We have stayed at another B&B in Ferndale and had a wonderful experience. Not happy! Gazebo falling apart. I have pictures more than happy to share.

Beautifully maintained historic Inn in the heart of Ferndale. Quality antique furnishings inside. Massive old trees and beautiful gardens. Delicious gourmet breakfast from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., French toast was splendid. Friendly chef. Every afternoon the chef prepared a batch of chocolate chip cookies or other tasty snack. Plenty of areas to sit inside the main house. Just a 15 minute drive to the coast and a beach with lots of huge logs to sit on while watching the sunset. A quaint town to stay in while exploring the Avenue of Giants. Negative: our room (Isabella) had an exterior access on the far side of the house from the front door which would not have been convenient if it were raining. I believe most of the other rooms have interior access. The TV in our room was only a couple inches bigger than my laptop screen. We were not able to get it to work either but didn't ask for help and just used our laptop instead. A dog on a nearby property barked steadily ALL night long and kept us awake most of the first night. I'm sure that can't be helped but the second night it didn't bark or was taken inside and our sleep was much better. There was a rocking chair on our porch which would have been lovely to sit in but was so thoroughly covered in spider webs that we couldn't enjoy it.

What a lovely place! Charming rooms downstairs, including a parlor to sit and read, three dining areas to take your breakfast, several outdoor areas with tables and chairs, all with great wifi, so we could catch up on emails in this bucolic setting. Our room (the Shaw Room) featured an enormous bathroom with clawfoot tub, separate shower. Just as charming as all get out, we'd be delighted to return.

The breakfasts were wonderful. Staff was very friendly, but was unavailable to show how to work the TV, for which no directions were furnished. Management is quite new, and some things, like the exterior landscaping, is a work in progress at this point. Our room was very nice with a comfortable bed and a clawfoot tub in the bathroom. The inn's location is terrific and makes it handy to walk the whole town. There's a gorgeous garden right next door that is a must see. We had a wonderful time

Highly recommend this Inn. Beautiful location, beautiful grounds and really lovely and welcoming staff. Unfortunately this is an old Victorian building and the water heater broke so we did not have any hot water. The management promptly refunded us $25 for the inconvenience. Thank you. We are looking forward to staying here again. (Ask for the downstairs room if you have problems with stairs. They are steep, authentic Victorian!) Good job, Shaw House Inn!

Bed & Breakfast Property in Ferndale. Property is a restored mansion converted to a B&B. Generally in good condition; our room was old but worked well. Breakfasts are a treat and should not be missed. Ferndale is an older Victorian town with many buildings restored to their original architecture. The property is well located for walking with restaurants, shopping, and old-town spirit. Overall good experience.

This was my second time here and everything was excellent. It’s a lovely property. The breakfast was small but definitely adequate. The only tiny issue in my room was the difficulty in getting the shower just right. But overall, perfect and not too outrageously expensive.

The orange french toast and yogurt parfait for breakfast were fantastic. The rooms were really nice and the staff was very attentive. Ferndale is like walking onto a hallmark movie set. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a weekend getaway.

The orange french toast and yogurt parfait for breakfast were fantastic. The rooms were really nice and the staff was very attentive. Ferndale is like walking onto a hallmark movie set. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a weekend getaway.

It does not state on line this room is not part of the main house and that we would have a mini lock to open the sliding door. The greeting was not warm another couple arrived at the same time and she would only let one of us in at a time. Breakfast same quiche 2 days in a row. Cutting danish in half and serving juice in mini Dixie cups. The grounds have not been kept up. Did not feel safe in the room. We have stayed at another B&B in Ferndale and had a wonderful experience. Not happy! Gazebo falling apart. I have pictures more than happy to share.

Beautifully maintained historic Inn in the heart of Ferndale. Quality antique furnishings inside. Massive old trees and beautiful gardens. Delicious gourmet breakfast from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., French toast was splendid. Friendly chef. Every afternoon the chef prepared a batch of chocolate chip cookies or other tasty snack. Plenty of areas to sit inside the main house. Just a 15 minute drive to the coast and a beach with lots of huge logs to sit on while watching the sunset. A quaint town to stay in while exploring the Avenue of Giants. Negative: our room (Isabella) had an exterior access on the far side of the house from the front door which would not have been convenient if it were raining. I believe most of the other rooms have interior access. The TV in our room was only a couple inches bigger than my laptop screen. We were not able to get it to work either but didn't ask for help and just used our laptop instead. A dog on a nearby property barked steadily ALL night long and kept us awake most of the first night. I'm sure that can't be helped but the second night it didn't bark or was taken inside and our sleep was much better. There was a rocking chair on our porch which would have been lovely to sit in but was so thoroughly covered in spider webs that we couldn't enjoy it.

This house is beautiful, and Paula is a wonderful host. She welcomed us and gave us a tour of the house, showed us all the places we could relax, invited us to enjoy macaroons, tea, coffee, water, sparkling water, fruit in the dining room and to wander the grounds at our leisure. Our room was the Orchard Room which opens on to a small deck with chairs to sit and enjoy the garden, in view of an historic apple tree planted in the 19th century. It has apples on it! Although our room shared a wall with another guest room, we barely heard the guests in that room. So quiet! Breakfast was simple and delicious with perfectly made skillet cornbread to accompany a wonderful Spanish flavored egg dish, fruit, granola, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee, and hot cocoa. There was a large dining table, but also tables in other rooms by windows to look out, and there were tables outside to eat and enjoy the garden. We saw deer in the garden in early evening. It is an easy walk into Victorian Ferndale to browse in shops and admire the Victorian architecture. So glad we stayed here, we want to return as soon as we can.
