Universal Boutique Hotel

The property has a lot of charm, and the staff were consistently warm, friendly, and helpful, which went a long way toward making our stay enjoyable. That said, the rooms could benefit from some refreshing. The carpet was stained, and despite being assigned a non-smoking room, there was a noticeable cigarette smoke odor when we arrived. The hair dryer attachment didn’t fit properly, making it difficult to use, and we had to request an iron from reception each time we needed one, as none was available in the room. The breakfast was adequate, but there is room for improvement. While the basic offerings were available, the coffee was underwhelming, and the bread and pastries lacked the quality you might expect from a boutique hotel. Overall, the hotel’s character and exceptional staff made a positive impression, but some updates to the rooms and improvements to the breakfast experience would make for a much more enjoyable stay.

Nice place to stay

We have been returning customers in this hotel for a few years now, we have to start saying that the staff are always friendly and helpful, so kudos to them.. What I have found out is that due to the terrible storms they have experienced a lot of water damage, the room where I was staying, the water was inside the walls and around the windows, this was covered behind the curtains, there was also mold building up inside the walls which I could smelled it as soon as I have entered the room; the same day I went to the receptionist and she gladly found a room in a lower floor, no water damage but the toilet wasn’t working properly, and only because the hotel was fully booked due to a bicycle race happening in the city that weekend we couldn’t ask for a better room. The staff was doing their best to pleased everyone, I understand that this is a very difficult times due to the situation but the hotel should have someone check all the rooms and make sure that they are a okay to receive guests. I hope they get it together here soon and become again the clean and fabulous boutique hotel they used to be.

This was our second stay at this hotel and it was equally wonderful! Great location as well.

The room smelled musty and was full of black mold. In the lamp shade and other parts of the room.
