This was a great motel. The grounds are beautiful, the pool was awesome, and there is a private beach that you can walk to or drive with private parking. It’s a small little beach area, but nonetheless, very nice. We went down for the sunset and it was awesome. We were able to find some Lake Huron cold water agates.

Loved sitting by the pool. Walking 2 min to the winery. 15 min walk to the beach! We had trouble with the ac in our room & it was fixed immediately. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We loved the setting/landscape, the outdoor patio, and the pool. Our room was lovely, too, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We also liked the proximity to the lake/beach. It took us about 10 minutes to walk to the beach and we enjoyed sunset by the water. The restaurant in the hotel was also nice, if a bit misleading about the description of the dishes (e.g., two eggs was really one egg if you opted for the small portion). But overall, we enjoyed our stay. I loved the in-room coffee a lot and our room had a fireplace that, even if it was only decorative, it still made the room feel cozy. We hope to come back again sometime.

Although the room was quite ordinary, there was a beautiful pool and grounds and a very proficient and friendly person at the front desk. The winery and restaurant were closed for the day and we were given only a few days notice. The private beach was disappointing - very stony, no shade.

We loved the pool, the small private beach with reserved parking on the estate, how clean everything was and the grounds - as well as it being only a 14 minute drive into Grand Bend. We had Room 1 with 2 double beds and it was simple and comfy. You need water shoes if you are going to swim off the private beach and need to be able to go up and down steep wooden stairs. The room for hanging out is too hot and stuffy but it is nice they have it for playing Scrabble, etc. They dont do any late check outs so I had to check out at 11 and sit there to do a work meeting. Overall, we loved it! My sister and I had 2 very pleasant days and nights.

The winery is within walking distance of the inn . It has a beautiful clean pool and very pleasant atmosphere! You can have a flight of wine at the restaurant and also buy wine to go if you miss the winery! The breakfast with large or 1/2 portions is a great idea! Dinner was delicious and nicely presented! Definitely will recommend and hope to be back !

When we reviewed the property on Expedia, read the reviews and looked at the property website, we were really looking forward to an enjoyable get away. Unfortunately, the winery was closed, the wine tasting was closed and the highly rated Muse Restaurant was closed. We had to drive to Bayfield and Grand Bend for every meal and there was absolutely nothing to do on property. The staff was pleasant, but other than suggest restaurants off-premise, they really couldn't help us as nothing was open. Their suggestions were good ones, however. It seems like what was advertised was not what we experienced - perhaps we were too early in the season? Overall it was nice to get away for a few days, but as stated previously, disappointed with the experience.

Property is beautiful with the winery but our room smelt so bed. Like mildew and it was damp in there. The bathroom had hair all over it and an old roll of toilet paper on the floor when we arrived. The bathroom had mold all around the ceiling

My room was spotless and even smelled clean. The bed and bedding were as comfortable as I’ve experienced and the room got nice and cold. It’s nothing flashy but hit all the marks. I forgot my bad with medications and they had it secured for me to pick up when I could. 10/10 all around.

We stayed for 2 nights in room 3 and the service was good overall. The room had a very strong musty smell to it, probably because of the old carpet. They really should take that out. The room was clean and comfortable overall. There is no coffee maker but a kettle and 2 packs of instant coffee. The grounds and winery are lovely, though the wines are not that great unfortunately. There is beach access down a gravel road but we did not access it due to a huge rain storm. We ate in the restaurant which was just ok. Food could really use some seasoning but the crème brûlée was delicious. They were understaffed so service was slow on times. Overall, it was a good stay and we would stay again if in the area.

Hessanland is a quaint and affordable option just outside of Grand Bend in Zurich, Ontario. It has a bed and breakfast feel with hotel amenities such as the restaurant and pool. The grounds are spectacular. Unfortunately, our stay was too short and our itinerary too packed to explore them. Check in was smooth and the front desk staff were friendly! We do wish however, that we had received two keys for our room. The room itself was very clean. The bed was comfortable. And although it wasn't HD quality, we had a good selection of satellite TV stations. Our suggestion is that there be full-sized and multiple beauty supplies (lotion, soap, makeup wipes) and not the one tiny package of each that came with the room. Disposable shower caps, black out drapes that close completely, a DO NOT DISTURB door hanger, sound-proofed walls to reduce ambient noise and the hallway conversations we were sometimes hearing, and a small microwave would have been even more welcoming!! Finally, our room had a wet or musty smell, as if the carpets had been recently shampooed and had not quite dried.Therefore, a fresh and more welcoming scent would have been awesome. Overall, our stay was comfortable, economical, and drama-free!

Me and my friend enjoyed every moment of our staying in this place. The room was very clean and the bed and pillows are comfortable. The dinner was delicious, so we had breakfast the next day. Didn't disappoint us either. We strongly recommend this place if you ever want to travel in the area. Awesome experience! Will definitely go back again! Thank you!

The staff was very friendly and the property was beautiful and well kept. The only downside was the bathroom was very, very small. The beds were VERY firm - I like a firm mattress, and it was a bit too firm for me. We stayed in a deluxe double queen room.

The first night, we stayed in the "suite" - it was in the attic of the house with lots of stairs which I was unaware of. The room was weirdly set up - with the TV in a very awkward spot where you could only see it clearly from one chair - you could not see it from the bed, and the sofa was too far away (as the TV screen was small. The windows had blinds, but no "black out" shades so at 6:00 in the morning, the room was completely lit up from the rising sun - not so great if you want to sleep in. It had a nice soaking tub and a lovely balcony, but if we were to return, we would definitely not stay in the "suite". The second night we stayed in a regular room which was much better. We did not partake of the food as there was very little offering for plant-based, vegan eating. The surrounding grounds were beautiful. The inn had access to the lake which no one told us about and we found it by chance on the second day - would have been nice to know about it!

Spent a night here. Checkin was welcoming and helpful. Cosy lobby, our room a little dated but clean and well stocked; walls are thin but it is an older building. We ate at the restaurant on site for dinner and breakfast and both times food was delicious, service on point. Private beach access a 10 min. walk or you could drive. Steps are a bit steep to get down to the sand so if you have mobility issues, may be a bit of a challenge. Winery products also available for sale if you want to take a souvenir home. Pool was still closed for the season but I can see this as a bonus amenity in the heat of the summer. Overall, I would come back to this property. Thank you for the staff in giving us a positive experience.

Hotel was very nice. Dinner included excellent vegetable curry soup w/ lovely presentation. My partner had birthday noted on reservation and was surprised with lovely dessert creation. Disappointed that access to Lake Huron on property was a short hike away, and 50 steps down to semi-rocky beach. We booked “standard 2 Queen room”. Turns out all these lower price rooms face hwy, luckily did not hear traffic- nothing else available but pricey rooms. When checking out, seems they charged my credit card 48 hours ahead, which I did not realize. We wanted to pay cash, they had to credit account and it took 4 days before the credit appeared on my statement. Overall, very nice experience and would return, now that we are aware of the limitations and quirks of the place.

The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The staff was friendly and courteous. The dining room was beautiful and the dinner was delicious! The only downside was that the room was noisy. All night we could hear the trucks on the road outside our room.

My husband mentioned that the mattress was springy and uncomfortable at the front desk and asked about replacing it. The otherwise friendly attendant suddenly became very curt and seemed to take it as a personal insult. She told us the hotel was full and regardless, they all had the same (springboard) mattress. Then she remembered there was one room for an $100 extra per night with the exact same mattress and did we want it? I told her that we wanted a better mattress because the one we had was like a bouncy castle and we were only getting 4 hours of sleep per night. She was even more annoyed. Nonetheless, she offered us a mattress from a non-guest room. It was a little better but we put it on the floor to give it more stability and were able to sleep ok. When she asked how everything was at checkout, we told her the mattress was ok on the floor. Her face fell. The feeling we were left with is that it is not ok to say if you aren't happy with anything at this hotel. The quality of the rooms is really poor considering the rest of the place and the price. I would expect this in a 1-2 star hotel.

I liked the ability to have dining on premises. I wish that the staff had told me to enjoy the bar area while I was waiting for my dinner reservation. As it was I found it on my own and had to ask. When we reviewed the property on Expedia, read the reviews and looked at the property website, we were really looking forward to an enjoyable get away. Unfortunately, the winery was closed, the wine tasting was closed and the highly rated Muse Restaurant was closed. We had to drive to Bayfield and Grand Bend for every meal and there was absolutely nothing to do on property. The staff was pleasant, but other than suggest restaurants off-premise, they really couldn't help us as nothing was open. Their suggestions were good ones, however. It seems like what was advertised was not what we experienced - perhaps we were too early in the season? Overall it was nice to get away for a few days, but as stated previously, disappointed with the experience.

My husband and I stayed here for my birthday and it was a lovely stay. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and made our stay even better. Our room was cozy and had the jet tub in it which was very enjoyable. It was close to Grand Bend beach and the drive-in movies which made it perfect for us as we didn’t have to drive far. Will be staying again !

Ver beautiful property and staff were very flexible and understanding with our late arrival. It was very quiet while we were there Sunday and Monday night, felt like we had the place to ourselves. Beautiful grounds and access to a private beach by several stairs (you can either walk about 15 mins or take your car 2 mins and there is parking for guests of the hotel). About 15 mins to Grand Bend one side and Bayfield on the other.

Pretty happy with our one night stay. Lovely property, clean rooms but out in the boonies a bit. 15 min drive into town for just about anything. Nice pool out back and it's a working winery. Very nice staff. Not crowded as we were here on a Mon/Tues. Great price for the area. We'll be back !

This Inn was conveniently located, away from the busy touristy area, but close enough to everything. Grounds are beautiful, staff very helpful. We didn’t have time to have a meal there, but will make sure we do the next time we visit.

The surrounding gardens and setting was very relaxing and enjoyable. Dinner at their restaurant was excellent from the friendly knowledgeable waitress to the food presentation and flavors of the meals. The only negative tone would be the sound traveling from the hall.

The gardens on this property are simply gorgeous. We had a garden view room and it was a pleasure to have the curtains open wide to take in the view. It is 10 minutes to Grand Bend or Bayfield. The food in the Muse restaurant is beyond amazing. There is a winery which offers wine tasting on the property. The staff take pride in service as if they were part owners. Didn't realize when booking dinner restraunts not open first of week except for breakfast which was delicious and made from local foods. They directed me to try white squirrel down road for dinner and it was very good. Even though it says beach access it's not easy and a lot of stairs so wasn't useful for me at 70 years old. Pool was lovely and kept clean. It was cold water however but luckily sunny day. Did the wine tasting. The property is very lovely to stroll around.
