The property is unique, the layout is something you have to learn, and lots of stairs and stair wells. The room and furniture were fine, but the bed was terrible, couldn't move with out it squeaking, and every uncomfortable. We had the worst sleep of our visit to see the UK. Had to get up early to put money into the parking meter, then the construction started next door. The location of the hotel is great, right on a cute street, had no issue finding a nice coffee and breakfast. So not all was bad, but as I write this a concrete saw has started cutting concrete🙄

Convenient location to historic downtown and attractions. A paid public parking lot was about 1/3 mile away, which wasn’t too bad if you are traveling light. Lots of nearby coffee shops and cafes and pubs with music (if your timing is right). It’s in an old building so we wandered through multiple fire doors and hallways to get to our room. The staff is very nice. The room was a nice size and nicely furnished with chairs, coffee table, etc. The bed was a little hard, the pillows flat. The bathroom was nice but the shower drained slowly. I was lucky in my timing and enjoyed listening to local play folk music (every second Monday) at a pub just around the corner.

Parking was full until after 4:30 PM/Sunday free/pay rest of time. No staff on Sunday. May have been a glitch? A staff person called me to ask what time I was checking in to meet me to give me a key. Many restaurants nearby.

This hotel needs to update its website to give parking and access directions. Google maps gives directions to the middle of a block, behind the visible buildings. We had to park and walk to hotel just to ask how and where to park. The bat staff were lovely and very helpful. That night during our stay, the rains bucketed down and parts of the hotel started flooding. The bar and front desk person (the same person) had to leave and try to handle the flood until the owner came. The hotel is a warren of passages that is fairly confusing. Our room had chipped paint, a very uncomfortable bed, and zero ventilation. The beds need to be replaced and fans need to be in every room. The breakfast the next day was passable but we will not be back.

Friars Wynd hotel was an incredibly unique boutique hotel on my 3 week UK road trip. Within this area parking is very limited, but there was a car park within 100 feet of my door. There is free parking after 5 PM I think? Until about 8am? Which was completely acceptable. The room was absolutely adorable and I had a wonderful soak in their very large clean tub after driving several hours. Check in was very simple with Harry in the pub, which is connected to the hotel. She was such a delight. I highly suggest spending a few minutes talking with her about the area. She also recommended an amazing dinner when I asked for a budget friendly pub. No. 2 Baker street was great!! Best steak pie ever! I was able to just leave my hotel room key in the room when I checked out. I thought there was an issue with the toilet flushing and Harry immediately & professionally had maintenance ready to come. However, there was no issue. It was just my lack of experience with older systems. The manager called her right back and told me just to literally hold it for a couple more seconds. The toiletries were fantastic and I loved the big soft towels!! Wonderful assortment of coffee, tea, and biscuits. (Cookies for Americans) I loved the entrance that led to a hallway directly to my unique ground. I felt very safe at the hotel and in the area! Thank you Harry

Finding the check-in spot was confusing as it’s in the cafe. There is no typical front desk/ reception area. The staff was very helpful once we found her and she helped us on the phone prior to our arrival to find parking which is challenging. The guest house is a maze of hallways which is a bit confusing, but the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom large with lots of hot water! Within walking distance of the old town and castle.

The bedrooms area is above the bar / restaurant and does not open until 2pm, so don't go before then as no-one will be there. There was no working lift installed (yet / maybe never) so be prepared to carry luggage upstairs and down. On the plus side, the woman in the bar handling everything was very efficient & Friars is close to the railway station and the local shops, but it's unlikely I'll stay again as I prefer classic hotels. Also, check if there's a ghost in the Katrine room.

Property is not fit for human use. It is filthy. Carpets are threadbare and dirty. Shower had black mold. No facilities. No onsite parking. No toiletries. Many stairs. No afterhours reception. Key card was intermittent. Mattress was old and lumpy, offered zero support. Would not recommend.

Tired room...showing clear signs of wear and tear and neglect..Carpet was heavily stained as was parys of the walls in the room.Bed frame was worn and dirty..curtains hung shabbily onto curtain rail, held on by clothes pegs in areas and not attatched to rail in other parts. Decent sized bathroom with readily available hot water.No TV channels worked whatsoever..rendered useless.Good location..Overall very poor value for the money.

The location was fantastic, especially if you took a train to Stirling, like I did. It was only about two blocks away. Restaurants were all around, within easy walking distance of the castle. The bed was comfortable and clean. They provided excellent tea and little goodies as well. Everything was great except the bathtub had a lot of black soap scum and even some hair at the far end. Luckily, I keep Clorox wipes with me; I cleaned the tub when I noticed it, as it was after hours and no one was around.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY - THE WORST In all my many years of travel this property and management proved to be the worst experience I have ever had. When raw sewage was back flowing into the shower and overflowing into the carpeting, management (Eleanor) refused to cancel/refund my reservation. I was told, at 3 pm, that the property handyman was called and IF he could solve the plumbing issue, we could still stay in the room. At 5pm a handyman had not arrived. No other rooms were available to switch to, no limit on how long attempts to resolve the situation would continue, and how the now wet carpet and foul stench would be addressed. Just expected to wait out the evening and hope things worked out. A picture here would be worth a thousand words, unfortunately a picture cannot be attached.

The only thing this has going for it is the location. The room looked nothing like the photos. The carpets were terribly stained. There was black mould in the shower. The bed felt like it was going to snap and the beds werent made properly with the mattress showing. The elevator was broken. Overall, it was a disappointing stay.

Lovely apartment , really comfy beds and nice cosy living area and kitchen, great location and friendly staff. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because the windows are so thin and as I stayed on a weekend I barely slept because of the noise on the street - I recommend brining ear plugs!

Great location in heart of Stirling. Couldn’t ask for better location. Car park directly behind it and after 5.30pm it’s free. Our room was spacious enough but unfortunately due to previous guests there were signs of wear in the room. Walls marked, glass on mirror smashed, iron burn on the carpet. Our room was cold but heating did work but it was a particularly cold weekend so we asked for a wee heater. Tap in bathroom when husband turned it on the pressure was huge and he got drenched luckily he had brought change of clothes. We told staff member about it when going out for dinner. Bedding had large rip in it. The bar/restaurant (restaurant no longer in use) has a lot of potential being in such a central location but there was no-one in it on a Saturday night other than 2 friends of reception staff member so we went elsewhere. Overall we enjoyed our overnight but we didn’t spend a great deal of time in the room and maybe some touch ups required.

Tap in bathroom when husband turned it on the pressure was huge and he got drenched luckily he had brought change of clothes. We told staff member about it when going out for dinner. Bedding had large rip in it. The bar/restaurant (restaurant no longer in use) has a lot of potential being in such a central location but there was no-one in it on a Saturday night other than 2 friends of reception staff member so we went elsewhere. Overall we enjoyed our overnight but we didn’t spend a great deal of time in the room and maybe some touch ups required.

Beautiful boutique hotel. The room was beautiful and very clean. Only downside was I requested a twin room as I was with my 84 yr old mother. The only twin room on the top floor and the lift was out of order. It was a real struggle for her to get up to the room.

A tad disappointing - our room was not serviced during our 2 night stay. This meant that on our return on night 2 we had no tea or coffee and no loo roll. Our full scottish breakfast was not that great either. However the room was cosy and clean.

Our stay at Friars Wynde was a treat x Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Room was warm and had everything you need .Being situated in the city centre makes it easy to access anything and everything you need Overnight was about a 5 minute walk from hotel but hotel has parking at back of hotel to use to take luggage through back entrance. Definitely going to stay there again really enjoyed our stay there ❤️

The location of the hotel is perfect! It’s right in the city center with plenty of attractions and dining options in walking distance. Staff were friendly and serviced the room daily. There is an overnight parking lot just a few minute walk down the road.

Advertised that the front desk opened at 12:00 pm We arrived at 1:30 pm and there was an iron gate across the entrance and no lights on The hotel sign was covered up and said only Bar We asked around an no one knew if they were still in business We eendd. Up going somewhere else and not sure if we will get our money back Emailed the property and got a snarky message back to say that they open at 2:00 pm plenty of time for a 3:00 pm check in They should not say that the desk opens at 12:00 on my confirmation if that is not true Really can’t recommend this place

Staff at check was unhelpful. We had trouble finding the room because there was no light in one of the hallways and stairs leading to our room. She did not tell us it was on the 3rd or 4th floor, she just said go to the end. I went down to her twice about the light and nothing had been done. Some nice gentlemen, not staff, helped us and two other women who were trying to find there room too. We were not told the front door to the bar closed early. We returned from dinner at 8 and the doors to the bar were locked. We had inadvertently left our key in the room and thought we could get another at reception. The emergency number had to be called and a nice women came shortly to let us in. The room itself is very nice but check in etc. was awful. Also be advised you may be climbing many winding stairs. We were on the top floor and beleive it was the 4th floor.

Property is great, the girl at the bar stayed around for an extra half hour until we arrived via train. She was friendly and explained everything well. My only concern was this was listed as a hotel with a 24/7 front desk which wasn’t true at all. The bar closes and you get a key to the side door to get in. We unfortunately made the bartender stay late after closing because we had no idea there would be no one there if we arrived late in the evening. No issues with the hotel or staff, just with the listing being inaccurate.

Friars Wynd hotel was an incredibly unique boutique hotel on my 3 week UK road trip. Within this area parking is very limited, but there was a car park within 100 feet of my door. There is free parking after 5 PM I think? Until about 8am? Which was completely acceptable. The room was absolutely adorable and I had a wonderful soak in their very large clean tub after driving several hours. Check in was very simple with Harry in the pub, which is connected to the hotel. She was such a delight. I highly suggest spending a few minutes talking with her about the area. She also recommended an amazing dinner when I asked for a budget friendly pub. No. 2 Baker street was great!! Best steak pie ever! I was able to just leave my hotel room key in the room when I checked out. I thought there was an issue with the toilet flushing and Harry immediately & professionally had maintenance ready to come. However, there was no issue. It was just my lack of experience with older systems. The manager called her right back and told me just to literally hold it for a couple more seconds. The toiletries were fantastic and I loved the big soft towels!! Wonderful assortment of coffee, tea, and biscuits. (Cookies for Americans) I loved the entrance that led to a hallway directly to my unique ground. I felt very safe at the hotel and in the area! Thank you Harry

We’re stuck in a room sick. I can’t get in touch with management. It’s contactless here and that’s not ok. We’re not young anymore and chose this hotel because of the offerings. Now we’re stuck in the back of the hotel with no food and we’re like I said sick and weak. They don’t provide any amenities at all. No food, no ice etc. hotels.com needs to make them remove the listing as it’s false advertising. Not fair to us. They know we’re sick and offer. Nothing. If I owned this hotel I would go and get my customers something to eat. Sounds selfish to us.

Finding the check-in spot was confusing as it’s in the cafe. There is no typical front desk/ reception area. The staff was very helpful once we found her and she helped us on the phone prior to our arrival to find parking which is challenging. The guest house is a maze of hallways which is a bit confusing, but the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom large with lots of hot water! Within walking distance of the old town and castle.

The property is unique, the layout is something you have to learn, and lots of stairs and stair wells. The room and furniture were fine, but the bed was terrible, couldn't move with out it squeaking, and every uncomfortable. We had the worst sleep of our visit to see the UK. Had to get up early to put money into the parking meter, then the construction started next door. The location of the hotel is great, right on a cute street, had no issue finding a nice coffee and breakfast. So not all was bad, but as I write this a concrete saw has started cutting concrete🙄

Convenient location to historic downtown and attractions. A paid public parking lot was about 1/3 mile away, which wasn’t too bad if you are traveling light. Lots of nearby coffee shops and cafes and pubs with music (if your timing is right). It’s in an old building so we wandered through multiple fire doors and hallways to get to our room. The staff is very nice. The room was a nice size and nicely furnished with chairs, coffee table, etc. The bed was a little hard, the pillows flat. The bathroom was nice but the shower drained slowly. I was lucky in my timing and enjoyed listening to local play folk music (every second Monday) at a pub just around the corner.

The location was fantastic, especially if you took a train to Stirling, like I did. It was only about two blocks away. Restaurants were all around, within easy walking distance of the castle. The bed was comfortable and clean. They provided excellent tea and little goodies as well. Everything was great except the bathtub had a lot of black soap scum and even some hair at the far end. Luckily, I keep Clorox wipes with me; I cleaned the tub when I noticed it, as it was after hours and no one was around.

Hotel lay out was confusing but loved the apartment style room. Great to have a kitchenette and a washing machine! A laundry horse would have been nice (instead of hanging things on the radiators) but it all worked out. Windows opened for cool air but no screens. No dining, front of hotel is just a bar, but plenty of options nearby. Great location for an easy walk up to Stirling Castle.

We liked the location. But a few things let the hotel down. You are only allowed one beverage drink with your breakfast. They charge for top ups. There was no mirror in the room to dry your hair. The toilet didn’t flush unless you pumped it. During the day you have to pay for parking and you can only stay two hours.

Regular worldwide travellers and this hotel bares little resemblance to the description, website information, reviews and ratings. Not a botique hotel but basic bar with rooms. Corridors and stairwells unkempt and old, room dark and tired with old with furniture and tiny sink in the small en-suite. Reception not staffed adequately although pleasant receptionist. No onsite parking as advertised, but public short stay available adjacent to hotel. Price increase for parking not up to date in hotel information. No breakfast available despite on website and mentioned in reviews. Room servicing didn’t include making the bed up and first day we had to ask for the room to be serviced. Noisy water from adjacent room showers. City view was scruffy back yard and public car park. Only good thing was central position in city. Extremely disappointed and would not stay again. Would not recommend.

The rooms look stunning period features, quality furniture and bedding but on closer inspection they haven’t been well maintained, marks on walls, mould on silicon in shower, grouting badly stained. Carpets badly stained. Shower door sticks so doesn’t open fully. My room was lovely and warm, my colleagues was cold with no heating. The entire side of the building where she was was cold. There is no one there to call. We booked and paid for bed and breakfast and was informed at check in they no longer offered breakfast but no reduction in price. Amazing location, just needs someone to take care of it and fix the heating

I would describe this hotel as “quirky”. The reception is not open 12-19 as stated on Hotels.com, but 15-22. And the restaurant seen in the photos is closed. The elevator has not worked for a while. The bed lamps could not be switched off, so we had to unscrew them before sleeping. But the staff was friendly and helpful when we needed them and excepting some questionable stains in the shower, all was clean. Also the location was very good and central, close to everything in Stirling.

Ok, the room was nice, but there it stops. Is anyone working here? I tried to call the given phone number for assistance for several hours without any sort of response. After standing outside, calling and calling, a family from the restaurant across the street approached me and asked if I managed to reach the "reception". They had also tried for many hours without luck. Finally we got help from a local to call them up and they responded immediately. Are they ghosting international calls? But I slept well, I will not deny that!!!
