Booked room was (or had been) occupied and we were moved to an alternative, restaurant seated us and proceeded to forget us, staff were few and far between and the building even allowing for it’s historic age is run down, get the impression that the hotel and eating facilities are an unwanted addition and they would prefer to be just a bar, the only exception being the breakfast which was pleasant. Booked for the location and its proximity to an event we needed to be at, disappointing experience.

We’ve stayed here before when walking the Worcestershire way and yet again another great stay. A great welcome from Tom behind the bar. This is a beautiful 15th century coaching inn. As you expect the upstairs flooring is sloping in parts and creaks as you wander around. We stayed in the ‘Wedges’ room, a lovely light room, some of the bathroom fittings are dated, but everything was good, a modern electric shower and all areas clean and tidy. The bar is excellent, with a great friendly atmosphere with some interesting cask ales brewed in-house under the ‘Talbot’ label. Good choice of evening meals with much of the ingredients grown in the inns poly tunnels and meats from the local butcher. All the staff were great, it was pleasant to chat to Annie the owner over an excellent breakfast. If you want good old hospitality in a fine old rambling inn, this will not disappoint.

Lovely old pub in beautiful location, excellent breakfast, with home made preserves. The dinner menu looked very exciting but sadly we were dining elsewhere. Staff most helpful, carrying luggage and providing information. There is an onsite brewery! The night was extremely hot, so difficult to sleep, but very comfortable bed and well equipped room. The bathroom could have done with refurbishment to the tiling and taps, but was acceptable. There is a large parking area, by the river garden.

We stayed here as a couple for one night on our way to a wedding. Unfortunately we didn’t find that the place lived up to expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the beer garden and outdoor areas were pleasant. Our room was located on the first floor at the front of the pub, with en suite bathroom. The bed was clean and comfortable enough. However, the paintwork, carpets and fittings throughout the room and common areas were dated, tired and in some places quite grubby. The bathroom was carpeted and had cobwebs and dust in many places. The stairs case and common areas were dingy, with electrics and fittings that looked an age almost comparable with the age of property itself! Breakfast was ok and served by friendly staff. My main comment is that the photos provided in the hotel description massively oversell the quality of the facilities and experience. So be careful what to expect!
