Budget Inn Top of Ellijay

Don't judge a book by it's cover. The outside may look worn and there might not be an elevator, but the rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable.

The property is still undergoing some renovations. Other than that it was a nice stay. Owners are extremely nice.

The outside could use a painting, but the interior of the ro was very, very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Upon driving up to the property, my partner and I noticed the shabby conditions of the exterior of the hotel and rose our eyebrows. We didn’t expect much from a hushed hotel but the exterior of the building desperately needed update and there were junk/equipment and bbq pits oddly around the place. Saw evidence of longer term tenants which was a little off putting at first. The saving grace was our room which was seemingly clean, has luxury vinyl flooring and all of the amenities we needed inside, including a very powerful A/C unit. The cons: tv volume didn’t work well on the tv so we had to move it up to our bed to even hear it well at full 100 volume. There was a cigarette burn hole on my bed cover. Also, we didn’t have enough shower toiletries or towels. Didn’t think we had any as they were literally two small pouches of shampoo and conditioner and one mini bar of soap we found as we packed up to leave. The ceiling area around the bathroom vanity was obviously patched from some sort of water damage and overall the room and back of the door had needed to be repainted. There were absolutely no other amenities: no pool, no free breakfast and $1 if we lost the room key. Location was fairly close to downtown Elijay so that was also a good thing and the area was quiet.

April 1, I had to call Expedia twice as my key card would not open my hotel room door - by the time they did show up - she yelled at me "hey, hey, hey - over here" (she knew my name as I had already been a guest there a week. She spoke to me like I was a bad kid - told me to make sure I do not leave room in a mess - I told her I was not a messy person. Also the date of my check out - April 2, she was knocking on my door "to remind me I had to check out early due to plumber coming to fix water leak - I told her she did not need to knock on my door - I had used an alarm clock to wake up earlier. Upon checking in on March 25, I was charged an additional $20 on top of my total hotel room charges to cover processing fee for paying with a debit card. Why did he not inform me of this extra charge after I made my booking in the letter they sent me by e-mail? Also - there was a slot for a dead bolt lock but there was no chain to put into the slot to lock the deadbolt. Safety should be of utmost importance when staying in a hotel!! My first day at the hotel - March 26 - there was constant loud noise from a building close by - they were putting on a new roof. This continued all day. Tues-Fri nights - loud noise from upstairs.

Ice machine did not work. Listing said pet friendly but made no mention that pets cost $50.00 per nite

Budget hotel, lowered expectations, but discovered at 11 pm we had no soap, shampoo or TOILET PAPER!! Sorry, never acceptable.

Wonderful renovated rooms! Ours was spotless and uber comfortable. Very quiet and so close to "downtown" Ellijay. Once they finish painting the exterior of the building it'll help give that part a facelift, too. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Easy, quick check-in, even though we arrived very late We'll stay here again.

Clean room, updated, near downtown!

Pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the rooms. Check in was easy considering we book for Thanksgiving day.

Room was clean, bed sleep very well, shower & ac worked great.

This is our second time staying at the Budget Inn here in Ellijay! Very clean and nice. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We will continue to come here when visiting this area.

Almost ran out of toilet paper. Didn't get shampoo for the 3rd and last morning. Things are pretty noisy, especially the air conditioning and the refrigerator. Had to turn the air conditioner off in order to sleep. Still would go there again because it was cheaper than the alternatives and that's what I care about

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the room was for the cost. Nice brand new very large TV, shower and tub felt brand new, and lets face it, besides the bed, the bathroom is the other critical piece of what makes a good hotel room. I actually really enjoyed my stay here and the price was beyond reasonable.

The rooms where advertised online as queen beds, they was full beds. Stood outside for check in for 15 mins before someone finally came. Check out was just as bad. There was nothing comfortable about the beds

Didn’t really know what to expect since it is an old complex. Very happily surprised! Everything was updated and new

The management worked fast to correct an A/C issue. Room paint needs touched up but not bad. Furniture needs refreshing. Bed are firm but good. Excellent location to downtown. Restroom is small but is updated.

We ended up leaving early because we could not sleep due to the people next door. The room was not nearly as clean as it could have been either and the bed was extremely uncomfortable.

Pros: I liked that it was close to the restaurant that we had dined at. The outside doesn't speak for the inside. It was pretty clean on the inside. Cons: The check out time was earlier than expected-10 a.m. With a checkout time that early, it would be helpful to have alarm clocks in the rooms or a phone so that allows you to call down to the front desk and have an alarm scheduled for you. The beds are not stable so when you go to sit down on it, the bed moves. The chair at the desk in the room is too big for the walking area so it's hazardous. The toilet had to be flushed a few times before everything would go down in it.

Our reservation said we could check in at 3 pm but they had a sign that said 4 pm check in. No one was at the office window and all doors into the office were locked. We rang the bell several times but no one came to the window. We left and returned later.

Don’t let the word ‘budget’ fool you! It’s simply an amazing value!!! Amazing hotel, amazing team, amazing location, amazingly clean and amazingly convenient! Highly recommend! BETH, Assistant Manager, was professional and handled everything perfectly! Great service!!! I also love the fact that the owner and staff will respond to negative reviews professionally but also forcefully to counter have-told truths or stories from bad customers! Good for you!

First night heat in room didn’t work and it was extremely cold but they moved us to another room quickly. Other than that it was great. I’m very pleased at how prompt they were at getting us another room

The hotel office has no one in it. There is a sign that’s constantly up that says will return in 20-30 minutes. You only get someone if you ring the doorbell. It’s a 50 charge for a dog which comes with a lecture about how dogs are not allowed on the furniture or bed and then you are asked if you have a bed for the dog. There is a sign that says you will be charged for stains. Is this really a hotel or a halfway house?

This property is AWFUL. Refused to give me my room I reserved because I wouldn't pay $50 cash for my service dog per day. Expedia is AWFUL for not refunding me and forcing me to go through my credit card. Never using expedia again,

Expedia said check-in until 1am. Got here at 12:58 and no one here. Sign on door says no guarantee of room after midnight. Very inconvenient

It is an older building, but to my surprise it was very clean and newly remodeled in all the right areas. All new bathroom, new linoleum floor, new paint and just felt clean. Great price too. I never leave reviews, but this place felt safe, clean and in a very convenient location.

No in room coffee. No coffee in office and no continental breakfast. Room was clean.

Rude! Do Not Book this Hotel. When we arrived for check in the staff was very rude and unfriendly! When the room was booked it said pet friendly, with no listing of any type of fee. Upon check-in there was a sign hanging in the window that said there was a pricy per night pet fee. Ridiculous! Sign stated that if you did not let them know you would be asked to leave and pay an even larger fee. We picked up our pet the following morning and needed to pay the fee. When we explained the situation, the property refused to accommodate us and let us pay the one-night fee and we were asked to leave, or the police would be called. This situation was explained in detail and at great length to Orbitz, which in order to refund us for the night called the property. The Budget Inn Elljay was untruthful and said that we had stayed the entire length of our trip and that we had paid a pet fee. Untrue, Unfair, and all in all Ridiculous from both Orbitz and the Budget Inn! Oh, and don’t expect a continental breakfast when you get up in the morning as there is nothing offered. Thank you to the Ellijay Inn for accommodating us as well as our pet. With an early last-minute check-in and allowing the last-minute arrangements for our family.
