This is the nicest hotel in town. If you are coming to Ilwaco, this is where you need to stay. However, it is not 5 stars, not even close. The on-site pub is very convenient and the food is excellent.

A quiet little corner that deserves exploring. The Salt Hotel overlooks an active fisherman’s harbor. The sea air rejuvenates. It’s a simple room well kept and most adequate for exploring the area. Of notable mention- the attached restaurant. Although we didn’t get a chance to eat there on this trip it’s been a favorite on that coast. I’d say it’s the most authentic Cioppino you’ll find. Friendly bar hosting some interesting local characters. We will continue to visit the Salt Hotel.

Before Salt Hotel and Pub opened or reopened(?) we only thought of Ilwaco as a fishing stop. Now for us it’s a destination! Great food and drinks at the pub, cozy comfy rooms, minutes from Long Beach and Astoria. Highly recommend!

The wait time for a bar stool? 30.minutes?!? And then was seated at a table, told it was shift change and we would.be waited on...fast forward another 30.minutes and told oops sorry! Let me get your order....took our order and then served fish golden on outside and cold on inside and my tuna melt was melted on top and cold in . Middle..my old fashioned was awful....I take sweetener in tea and offered none ..paid the bill ....but won't be back for.food...the room.was.even.worse...when offered to freshen room told staff just empty trash and replace coffee service... didn't happen..when showering got.an instant freeze of water with a flush of the toilet....was really disappointed in stay overall...booked and paid for.2 nights but left SAT night after we found the not even trash empty or.coffee replaced. Good luck with staff....no one at desk at all to even let know that we left and why....staff was not available to tell us how to work the lock ...had to.figure out that you have to lock it it doesn't automatically do.this....not cool .

We have a very small room with good light. It’s fresh, clean and decor minimal but on trend. I LOVE the down comforter! Cant believe this simple motel uses such high end bedding. I brought my own coffee for a pour over because motels usually do t offer good branded coffee but I didn’t need to. They provide an electric kettle for hot water which I’ve never seen before. It’s also refreshing to see solar panels on the roof. They also provide locally made soaps which is also mindful and environmentally conscious, no plastic bottles. We are just so impressed. We also had some of the best fish tacos outside of Mexico while looking at the harbor downstairs in the pub. My guess of the age of this motel build was late 60’s or 70’s when the builders failed to see the harbor as a desired view so the profile of the units are directed to the street rather than the river. Only 2 units face the harbor which next time we book will ask for those units. We love the outdoor communal spaces but it’s still too cold to enjoy. Overall, this is a gem that exceeds the cost value.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Salt. The room was small but quite comfortable, clean and cozy. The simple furnishings suited me just fine. Everything worked well: heat, lighting (appreciated lights over the bed), hot water, etc.The shower was on the smaller side, but adequate. I will be sure to book the Salt on my next trip to Ilwaco. Oh, and the Salt Bar was an excellent place for dinner!

Nice King room with a view of the marina. We were disappointed that the restaurant wasn’t open while we were there. (Two restaurants near each other and both closed on Wednesdays didn’t make sense to us.) We enjoyed the nearby bookstore.

The property was rundown and dirty, a very common thing in a smaller beach town but for the price, it was not very good. $677 for two nights seemed outrageous. I wish I had canceled also for that price you would think there would be Shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom nothing at all. Just a bar, it was a big party weekend for the car show so a lot of rowdy drunks raising hell throughout the night didn’t make it very easy to sleep, I won’t be coming back.

This hotel was really fun. It is great for families and kids. I loved that it was safe, you could buy the things you liked in the room, and they had their own vibe. The place was generally pretty clean and very comfortable. They had local goat soap, decorative pillow covers, used books, and cute coffee mugs, and all the supplies you need for puppers. The only suggestions for improvement I have is, I would recommend that more attention be focused on cleaning as there was a large spider with a large web in the lamp next to my head. Also, the staff took about 10-15 minutes to get us checked in. The beds were a bit squeaky for romance. I would still say it is worth it. Thank you. It made our trip so special. :) if/ when we come back, this is my new favorite place.

The property was quiet and well maintained. It was perfect for a peaceful weekend get away. I’m happy with the price we paid as well. Two things could use some improvement. The mattress that we slept on was so hard and uncomfortable that neither my husband or myself got a full night of sleep. The showers were comically small and didn’t have a functional shelf to set hygiene products on, so we kept the shower door open in order to grab products as we needed them. It felt silly to not include something as simple as a shelf to make the showering experience better.

Room was clean and cute... bed was Terrible! We left with sore bodies... all over! bed is so soft there is no support. slocation was not as expected... very noisy , woke up at 4:30am to a guy screaming in the parking area across the street. Cars, and Trucks dribing by all night long...not a food experience at all... we were looking for something relaxing, this was not. BTW... i never leave reviews for anything, but i wouldnt recommend this place to anyone

Pros: Location on wharf next to a few fun stores. Restaurant on site. Lower price. Easy drive to Long Beach Peninsula. Cons: small room, poorly appointed - no ice, no Kleenex, no hair conditioner, no closet, hooks on wall above microwave & coffee area so unable to use for clothing, restaurant closed 2 days per week and there is nothing in town, no one on sight - all digital, shower stall small and shower head unable to move so a short person could not easily rinse hair (nose right up against shower wall), no air conditioning for summer heat but that is typical for area (small fan included and we could keep window open because we were at the end).

What a cool little port motel. It's very clean and has all the amenities you need. Ilwaco is close to everything and this would be a great base if you wanted to do some charter fishing. My only knock is that the walls a a bit thin. This is only a problem when people are outside yelling or whistling at each other. The rooms are small and comfy. I knocked a star off staff because there wasn't one. Our bed was cozy. The towels are fluffy. The soaps smell nice. Give Salt a try.

As much as i want to give this place 5stars..sadly i cant. Upon check in i wated in line when my turn came the lady at the desk looking at the desk w me in periferal suddenly turned started messing w food plates for another customer the waitress finished w her customer then came to desk i asked to be checked in they sent a 3rd lady to check in desk. That just seemed rude. The food could have waited and the lady could have atleast acknowledged me. Then i get to the humble yet clean and comfortable room...and the t.v is broken like the screan was scrambled or something. Its sad honestly i was looking forward to havi ng dinner and drinks in their restaurant. The food looked good and the view of the bay was enticing but i saw the service and decided to eat elsewhere. That said i may try it again maybe just bad timing.

The Salt is anything but salty. This place was very nice, right beside the bay. There is a bar open Wed-Sunday till 7:30 because- well no MickeyDonalds in town which would have been nice if I stayed there other than Monday and Tuesday. The staff was VERY friendly and asked if I needed anything several times. The room was spacious and comfy, memory foam mattress, well lit and had extra chairs/seating. The bar soap was craft soap from a local soap maker and it was super nice. I liked it so much I requested a T-Shirt (available for purchase at the pub). Added plus-they give you “shop rags” for washing the 300+ miles of motorcycle road grime off your pretty face (so you don’t ruin the good washcloths ya filthy animal)

Nice little hotel close to cape disappointment. Staff was accommodating after I caught COVID and had to reschedule. That alone would bring me back, but the room was clean, area was nice, and the staff were friendly.
Nice little hotel close to cape disappointment. Staff was accommodating after I caught COVID and had to reschedule. That alone would bring me back, but the room was clean, area was nice, and the staff were friendly.

What a cool little port motel. It's very clean and has all the amenities you need. Ilwaco is close to everything and this would be a great base if you wanted to do some charter fishing. My only knock is that the walls a a bit thin. This is only a problem when people are outside yelling or whistling at each other. The rooms are small and comfy. I knocked a star off staff because there wasn't one. Our bed was cozy. The towels are fluffy. The soaps smell nice. Give Salt a try.

If you’re looking to get away from the noise of more popular busy costal tourist destinations, this is the place for you. Tucked away in Ilwaco right on the pier is the perfect affordable little stay. With an attached bar and restaurant it makes for all the things you need in one place. Clean room, clean bedding and respectful staff and guests made this trip 1000x better. Highly recommended.

Room was clean and cute... bed was Terrible! We left with sore bodies... all over! bed is so soft there is no support. slocation was not as expected... very noisy , woke up at 4:30am to a guy screaming in the parking area across the street. Cars, and Trucks dribing by all night long...not a food experience at all... we were looking for something relaxing, this was not. BTW... i never leave reviews for anything, but i wouldnt recommend this place to anyone

Of notable mention- the attached restaurant. Although we didn’t get a chance to eat there on this trip it’s been a favorite on that coast. I’d say it’s the most authentic Cioppino you’ll find. Friendly bar hosting some interesting local characters. We will continue to visit the Salt Hotel.

Before Salt Hotel and Pub opened or reopened(?) we only thought of Ilwaco as a fishing stop. Now for us it’s a destination! Great food and drinks at the pub, cozy comfy rooms, minutes from Long Beach and Astoria. Highly recommend!

The wait time for a bar stool? 30.minutes?!? And then was seated at a table, told it was shift change and we would.be waited on...fast forward another 30.minutes and told oops sorry! Let me get your order....took our order and then served fish golden on outside and cold on inside and my tuna melt was melted on top and cold in . Middle..my old fashioned was awful....I take sweetener in tea and offered none ..paid the bill ....but won't be back for.food...the room.was.even.worse...when offered to freshen room told staff just empty trash and replace coffee service... didn't happen..when showering got.an instant freeze of water with a flush of the toilet....was really disappointed in stay overall...booked and paid for.2 nights but left SAT night after we found the not even trash empty or.coffee replaced. Good luck with staff....no one at desk at all to even let know that we left and why....staff was not available to tell us how to work the lock ...had to.figure out that you have to lock it it doesn't automatically do.this....not cool .

We have a very small room with good light. It’s fresh, clean and decor minimal but on trend. I LOVE the down comforter! Cant believe this simple motel uses such high end bedding. I brought my own coffee for a pour over because motels usually do t offer good branded coffee but I didn’t need to. They provide an electric kettle for hot water which I’ve never seen before. It’s also refreshing to see solar panels on the roof. They also provide locally made soaps which is also mindful and environmentally conscious, no plastic bottles. We are just so impressed. We also had some of the best fish tacos outside of Mexico while looking at the harbor downstairs in the pub. My guess of the age of this motel build was late 60’s or 70’s when the builders failed to see the harbor as a desired view so the profile of the units are directed to the street rather than the river. Only 2 units face the harbor which next time we book will ask for those units. We love the outdoor communal spaces but it’s still too cold to enjoy. Overall, this is a gem that exceeds the cost value.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Salt. The room was small but quite comfortable, clean and cozy. The simple furnishings suited me just fine. Everything worked well: heat, lighting (appreciated lights over the bed), hot water, etc.The shower was on the smaller side, but adequate. I will be sure to book the Salt on my next trip to Ilwaco. Oh, and the Salt Bar was an excellent place for dinner!
