We enjoyed our stay and really liked the location. We are glad that the inn offers kayaks and safety equipment. The private sand beach was super nice. The place is near the road, so it's easy to see and access and we had no problem to park. The only thing I would've changed, if I knew, was the room, because we were directly above the kitchen so there was vibration from the kitchen door (starts around 6am and ends around 11hpm). Thanks for your hospitality!

The staff was excellent. Offered a LOT of info about the property, area, etc. The dining was excellent. Our dinners were delicious. Complimentary breakfast was better than many that I have paid for. A server called in sick the morning that we were there. If we hadn't been told, we probably wouldn't have known. The staff was that good, and the morning view of the lake from porch was awesome. The room was small but everything worked. The bed was a little firm but that's a personal preference. Outside our door was a screened in porch with a great view of the lake and rockers. There was easy access to the beach and a "pier" with Adirondack chairs. The only negative is that windows were single pane. Noise from traffic on the road (the main artery in the Champlain Islands and immediately next to the building) might be a problem if you are a light sleeper or like to sleep late. We visited during foliage season and found lots of interesting things to do. We plan to return next summer when the bikes (which were in use) and kayaks (which were not) will get us out.

Should have been noted on booking site that some rooms you must go through bust dining room , I booked off a picture showing a water from room , water was visible through the window, stated there was water and instant coffee and tea , there was neither . We arrived and no where to park, was told to drive around , and if no space was available it should clear out in a few hours !! Got attitude when we questioned the no water , no paying for paid inn guests . Was too late to cancel or we would have just left and found a different place to stay . Oh and they have a coffee bar near the actual bar in the restaurant, there was no creamer of any sort available the two times we attempted to grab a coffee that was part of the listed amenities

The hotel was beautiful and clean, but the amenities weren’t as advertised. The walkable sand beach was a small rocky shore with two umbrellas and two lounge chairs. No one showed us to the spa, but the sign pointed to a small room with ‘massage in progress’ sign on it. The restaurant and bar closed at 8pm, and they did not have front room seating available for guests as we did not make a reservation. There are no other options close by, so we assumed we wouldn’t have to. The food was okay, but I wouldn’t want to eat there a second night. Overall, not at all what we expected and we ended up leaving a night early.

Historic, but updated and well-maintained property. Great restaurant with excellent breakfast. Appreciated the added touch of providing the history of the facility and surrounding area. Lovely lakefront site with seating around the property to enjoy the view. The only slight minus was that my room in the southwind building was right next to the road, but very little traffic at night, so not a big issue. Would probably select a different room next time.

This was a truly hidden gem. I had searched it out on Expedia, and it was truly way, way nicer than I had anticipated. Beautiful room (although the third floor is a bit of a hike, but lots of options on the property). The complimentary breakfast options are DELICIOUS, and we ate at the bar every night. The food was fantastic, staff was amazing, room was gorgeous and clean. I would recommend this as highly as possible, only wish I could give it SIX stars!

Beautiful inn - very comfortable room, excellent complimentary breakfast and restaurant on site. The downside was that our room was up on the 3rd floor and stairs up to our room were narrow and steep. It may have been quite difficif no impossible for an elderly person to go up and down the syairs- esp with luggage.

Beautiful location on Lake Champlain. Delicious dinner at onsite restaurant and huge decadent breakfast that was included with night at the Inn. Only concern was that the road the inn was on was extremely busy cars flew down and we heard them all night and it felt dangerous to ride our bikes on that road. Also, would have liked water bottles in room. Since the lobby of the inn was inside the restaurant open to public it wasn’t easy to get water or any drinks as a guest staying over night. Overall spectacular location would just bring ear plugs next time for the noisy busy road that the door to room is on.

The location of this place was perfect, I loved falling asleep to the sounds of the waves lapping at the shore of Lake Champlain. We got dinner at their restaurant on the water, but ate in our room because. Well the dog matters. The only negative was the door to our room was problematic. The deadbolt didn’t line up with the door frame, so multiple attempts to unlock and open the door when we checked in were unsuccessful. The young woman at the desk finally had to come down and help us. The door needed a hard shove with her shoulder to open it, and once we figured that out it was also a HARD pull to open it from the inside.

Overall, this is a beautiful property (with three lodging buildlngs across the road from the main Victorian house). It has a very nice restaurant with excellent service and food. Our stay in the South Wind building by the water in room 3 was only marred by a loud, electrical unit outside our bathroom window that made a constant hum. It kept my husband awake all night. The place was full so we could not change rooms --- we sadly checked out after one night. We should have been warned about this before we booked; the staff clearly knew of the problem noise. Ask about this issue before you book a room.

The property is beautiful. The dining options are very good. The staff was courteous and helpful. Our room was not comfortable. In addition to the bed, there was only a small table and chairs. The chairs were hard plastic and very uncomfortable. There was no closet or drawers so we had to place most of our things on the floor. We asked to be moved to a more comfortable room and the staff was very accommodating. The new room was more comfortable and had a nicer view, but still no closet or drawers. The staff was very pleasant and did all they could to help us be comfortable.

Charming property with a lovely setting on the lake with great food. A bit far from things but if you want quiet beauty this is it. Don’t recommend rooms on the third floor if you have heavy bags as the stairs are quite steep and narrow. Otherwise our room was fine.

Room was was nice... some opportunities: Room was cold - think maybe heat had been turned off No one around - at all - I even called and requested a return call - after 8 pm For the first time in 2 yrs I had an opportunity to sleep in... until hammering started at 8 am Breakfast was very yummy.

I always enjoy staying at North Hero House, the rooms were nice and the breakfast was good, however, the walls are very thin and we had very loud neighbors that were talking and laughing past 12am. We also had dinner on our last night, Friday, the service was terrible, we waited 30 minutes for a wait staff to bring water, they did not check on us, we waited a long time for food once they took our order and then another 30 minutes to process the check payment.

Nice room, great shower, good location near the water and the Hero's Welcome for bike rental! Breakfast service was pretty slow but friendly. We didn't know there would be an additional $49 "resort fee" after we paid on Expedia.

I have a problem swallowing.I asked for my bacon to be very light fried.I ended up getting black bacon.I sent it back and they took 2 pieces off of it that were probably a little lighter.Put it on a plate and handed it back to me. I assume that it was the chef that did that they may want to rethink their chef.
