Rough Cut Lodge

I loved the beautiful cabin with two full bedrooms with closets and a full equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom and living room and dining room table. Looks newly renovated. They thought of everything to make guests happy. The welcome center looked new with beautiful open layout with new pool table , fishing poles , different games and activities. I Also loved the porch overlooking the creek and mountains! Absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. I will definitely be back for another getaway. It’s absolutely gorgeous out there!

I stayed at Rough Cut Lodge for three nights with my dog to do stargazing at Cherry Springs State Park and visit the PA Grand Canyon. Rough Cut Lodge was a great choice. I had suite 7. It was amazingly clean and had all the amenities that I needed. This unit, along with 8, 9, and 10 are on the other side of Rt 6 from the main property, which is where the hot tub and playground are located. There is also a large lawn area on that side that borders the Pine Creek - and turned out to be a great place for stargazing. I really enjoyed my stay there and would certainly return if my travels take me to that area again. One more thing - the communication with management for check-in, etc., was excellent!

Michelle was in contact with me by text & was easy to reach about our visit. Maple Cabin was perfect with a full kitchen. Loved that there were several well-spaced fire pits with wood close by for convenience.

We feel like we hit the jackpot with this gem! Suite 7 was absolutely perfect for my husband and I and our dog. Spotless, excellently stocked, modern and a great set up. The owners have thought of every possible thing you could want or need. The grounds were beautifully kept with so many amenities, we used the hot tub multiple times We are already planning on going back with a group of friends! Oh and the price is so affordable. Thanks for a great little get away!

Our stay at Rough Cut Lodge was perfect. Surrounded by nature and beauty, this place is perfect for a nice getaway. Very clean, extremely comfortable and great price. Wi-Fi works great for being in the middle of nowhere and the amenities are perfect. If you’re looking to check out the Grand Canyon of the East, this is a fantastic place to stay.

What a lovely place! I love the little cabins. There’s also a game room and hot tub. This would be great for families. The room was super clean and very well taken care of. The bed was comfortable, we had a great night’s sleep. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would stay here again if we’re ever back in the area.

We didn't interact with any staff while we were there, but they were available via phone for any questions we had. Firepits and grills are available, the wifi works great, our room had a fireplace. I could go on and on about how wonderful this stay was, and I can't wait to go back!

We stayed in Oak Cabin & it was perfect (except we didn’t get a fire starter this time & I am terrible at building a fire). The building is sturdy & offers warmth or cool, depending on when you are there. There are fire pits all over so you can enjoy your own company. There beds were comfortable, the decor was cozy. All utensils needed are available. The sound of Pine Creek flowing is relaxing. Only disappointment (which was totally tolerable) was that I wanted a T-shirt from the Welcome Center, but had no idea how to unlock the cabinets to get one. Otherwise, this place is absolutely top notch. I booked the main cabin for October & have decided that even if I don’t find 15 other people to join us, we are still going to stay there!

Stayed in Suite 6 for one night to go stargazing before the eclipse, got late checkout till 1p. This place is even better than described. I loved it there and I didn’t want to leave. Suite 6 faces the creek. It’s so relaxing back there! The rocking chairs on the porch are everything! The stars are beautiful from there too. There’s some noise from the highway but it isn’t too bad. Beds are comfortable. Nice and clean. Cool fireplace. Well equipped kitchen. 2 bedrooms so I had my own room away from the 3 loud teenage girls. Will definitely be coming back.

Place was immaculate and super pet friendly. Property was beautiful and lots to do in the area.

The unit itself was spotless and extremely well appointed plus the beds were super comfortable. The outside was clean, well done and there were games to play. It was as if the whole building and the outside had just been built! Highly recommend this place and we are very picky folks!

It was our third stay there and it was as great as always! Super clean and great location!

Very clean and easy communication with owners. However, putting two queen beds in one room where you have to walk sideways to navigate is silly. Plus there was no night stand or lamp. The door didn’t open fully because of the bed situation. Plus charging $22 for sheets? There was no mention to bring your own! It was certainly good enough and very clean for a night but I would make those changes for better quality.

The suite we stayed in appeared to be very newly renovated. The quality of products and workmanship were exceptional. Very rustic but yet modern. Every aspect of the suite was very well designed and comfortable. I could easily live there indefinitely and enjoy it.

The perfect place for our little getaway. The suite feels like a cabin with all the natural wood and gas fireplace. Cozy, warm and impeccably clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals, and that's good because it's a ways to any restaurants.

I stayed in one of the suites for a week for work. After a long day out in the cold and wet it was so nice coming back to my room. The rooms are comfortable and come with any kitchen items you may need. My favorite part about my suite was the gas fire place that would kick on to warm the room. My only complaint is the clock in the room would tick rather loudly at night. Other than that my stay was great. Definitely will be back.

We couldn’t find Suite 7 at first then realized it was across the road. The suite itself was adorable but was right on a busy road with relentless truck traffic. We couldn’t even converse when sitting on the porch, it was so loud. If we stay again we would request to be on the main campus across the road with a little buffer from the road noise.

Nice quiet place for a weekend get away. Couldn’t figure out heat. Staff attentive to questions via text.

I'd recommend this property to everyone. Staff contacted me within minutes to give me directions on how to check in. Off season these rooms have great value and they blow away any other place nearby.

Room was cute, clean, comfortable. There is no one on site to check you in. You call a number posted on a building, that was a little odd but we figured it out.

Very clean and comfy sitting room, and comfy mattresses. Nice place to stay and well located. One wrinkle that we thankfully were able to overcome (with the owner’s eventual help) was that they attempted to charge us extra per person for linens(!). After paying plenty per night on Expedia for a “luxury” suite, we were shocked at this request, especially when the Expedia listing specifically said that linens were included. It felt like gouging and bait-and-switch. Apparently the owners aren’t happy with the money they net from Expedia, but that’s something they’ll need to work out on their own, without attempting to squeeze guests without full disclosure upfront. Hopefully they’ll add “Linens Not Included” in caps at the top of their Expedia listing and what the extra fee is. Or better yet, just include linens and raise the room price if they have to. Good news is that the owners in the end waived the attempted extra fee. And the place was nice and totally met our needs. But the exchange felt a bit gaslighty (eg owner said “some people miss that in the Expedia listing”, which is exactly the opposite of what happened - there was nothing to miss). My impression is that a better rate (for the owners and hopefully for guests too) could be obtained by calling the property directly, outside of Expedia, but I’m not sure of that. We liked the place a lot, and the owners did make the right call when questioned. So we would recommend it to fellow travelers!

This is our 3rd time staying at Rough Cut Lodge, first time in this suite. We love the quietness of the area. We enjoy the small kitchen with all we could need to make meals while staying there. The rooms are beautiful and have many amenities that make it feel like home. We enjoy being able to stay connected with WIFI and some television to occupy our boys if needed. Michelle is a phenomenal person to work with and talk to about your booking. We have already booked a different suite for January!

There was a couple ho cups that they resolved immediately. Very friendly, helpful. Extremely pleased with everything. Enjoyed our stay and intend to come back.

Cameron was amazing answered all my questions and was quick to get back to me the suite was very clean and cozy accommodations to the property for fishing was great! Will be booking again!

We originally booked for 2 nights, we decided we would like to stay an additional night. I sent a message to check if it was possible to add another night, they were very accommodating and gave us the 3rd night at the same price. We will definitely be returning again. Very friendly staff. We stayed in suite 7.

Beautiful cabin on the river with great scenery mountains. Morning sunrise was a treat .

Absolutely beautiful well maintained facility. I’ve never stayed at a place this clean. Staff was great and everything was easy. Only thing and they can’t control was the road it was on and middle of the night traffic. They have really good windows, so as long as windows are shut, it’s not bad.

We were in town for hiking at the PA Grand Canyon. Cute little modem suite with rustic charm. No problems at all. Caretaker were communicative. Found a few good locals restaurants nearby, did some hiking, and a wagon ride. Nice area to relax. Didn't see Sasquatch. 😕😀

We stopped for 1 night passing through the area on a trip. It is in a beautiful rural location. Clean, convenient and reasonably priced.
