Terrible plumbing, always noisy due to flushing, substandard room and bedding. Service is not attended to details and doesn't seem to care. No hot water (limited solar heating). It was the worst stay and not worth the money comparing to all other stays in my Costa Rica trip.

The room itself was very disappointing, very small for 4 people, no air conditioning, the bathroom was very small and barely enough room to stand. The plumbing was terrible to the point where you had to throw toilet paper in the trash and there were instructions to do so. The bathroom also had cockroaches, that you could see after walking out of the shower. The staff were very nice, but the breakfast and coffee were mediocre at best. This was the only place we could find, would not come here again.

The location is about a 20 minute walk from the main town in the area, Santa Elena, which was convenient (we preferred to walk rather than drive as the road to the property is quite rough, like many of the roads in the region). Parking was available and never an issue at the property during our stay. Breakfast was provided and we enjoyed the monkey "guests". Staff were very welcoming. The triple room, however, was quite small. The "larger" bed was a double (not queen) and there was also a twin, but they were quite close together in the room. The main concern, however, was the inconsistent electricity. On both days of our stay the power (and wifi, which was decent when it worked), went out for extended periods of time. We're not sure if this is specific to the property itself or indicative of the area, but can say that at least on the first night, power was available up the street and in the town. Overall, the property is a good choice if you're budget conscious and don't want to stay in a hostel in Santa Elena.

Very cute property. Nice, clean, smaller rooms. Beds were very comfortable. Hot water came and went (solar water heaters, so not available all of the time). Property was small, but lots of animals. Staff was very helpful! Walkable to grocery store and restaurants.

The biggest con of this property is there is no one at the property after 8pm sometimes even earlier. The property is a bit old and the locks & keys don't work properly. If you are unable to open the lock or lose keys after 8pm then you are stuck in the middle of nowhere with no help. Other cons - small showers and limited parking.

The hotel is in a quiet area in the outskirts of Monteverde, which was a great bet, as town can be rather noisy. Staff was fantastic and really helpful. Room was clean and well cared for. Nice shower and comfy bed. Enjoyable typical breakfast with free entertainment offered by the resident cat. Lovely stay!

Dreams Monteverde was absolutely wonderful! Tonny and Yariel our hosts were very attentive and helpful. From the moment we arrived they made us feel welcomed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We also really enjoyed the breakfast. The coffee was delicious and we appreciated the Greetings from our hosts. I definitely recommend for anyone traveling to Monte Verde

This is a great place to stay if spending time in Monteverde or St. Elena as it's centrally located. The room was large, beautiful, and very clean with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Free breakfast was cooked to order, plentiful, and delicious. There are no "views" as it's tucked in against tall trees. Some of the less than 5 stars above are because the check-in staff person woman was rude to us because Expedia said I had already paid half, and Expedia had failed to charge me (from booking 5 months prior - who can remember that far back?), and I had to go lookup Amex charges, which didn't exist. Once I paid what was due, I tried to make nice with her, as it wasn't my fault either, and she continued to chastise me that she knew better! So she clearly doesn't know about customer service. The male manager was extremely nice the next day. The WiFi didn't work well. And also they were using a very noisy leaf-blower for a while in the morning, which really disturbed our ability to enjoy the morning.

Tony is an amazing host. He knows all of the area attractions and will do all he can to make your stay relaxed and enjoyable. The water temp in the shower is a bit tricky and brought the total score down a bit. Breakfast is delicious and prepared individually.

Wonderful stay. Great and helpful staff helped us plan and arrange tours. Good value for money. Away from noise. Privacy. Saw a capybara eating from the fallen fruit (figs). Monse was especially nice and she has a beautiful and friendly little daughter. Great free fresh hot breakfast.

This property felt like staying at a good friend’s house. The manager, Tony, his staff, made us feel like family and went out of their way to help welcome us to Monteverde by not only recommending activities, but arranging them for us and making sure the tour companies actually took care of us. The breakfast every morning was made with care and the service was truly hospitable. The smallest minor issue is that there is no Air Conditioning in the room, which is expected in an eco-friendly lodge, however, the patio door had no screen, either so although it would have been lovely to get some fresh air into the room- the night critters from the forest made that impossible. The manager, Tony, his staff, made us feel like family and went out of their way to help welcome us to Monteverde by not only recommending activities, but arranging them for us and making sure the tour companies actually took care of us. The breakfast every morning was made with care and the service was truly hospitable. We had an amazing time, Tony was extremely helpful in setting up some adventures for us that we actually stayed an extra night to enjoy Monteverde. Tony was amazing and we definitely recommend staying here.

The biggest con of this property is there is no one at the property after 8pm sometimes even earlier. The property is a bit old and the locks & keys don't work properly. If you are unable to open the lock or lose keys after 8pm then you are stuck in the middle of nowhere with no help. Other cons - small showers and limited parking.

We have had such an amazing stay at Dreams Lodge. Tony and Monse are so helpful and endearing and always greeted us with a smile.We were also lucky enough to meet Tony's brother and wife and granddaughter. The close encounter with tbe monkeys and seeing such incredibly beautiful birds including the elusive Bell Bird. The breakfast was huge and so delicious. This is the place to stay in Monteverde!!

This is a great place to stay if spending time in Monteverde or St. Elena as it's centrally located. The room was large, beautiful, and very clean with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Free breakfast was cooked to order, plentiful, and delicious. There are no "views" as it's tucked in against tall trees. Some of the less than 5 stars above are because the check-in staff person woman was rude to us because Expedia said I had already paid half, and Expedia had failed to charge me (from booking 5 months prior - who can remember that far back?), and I had to go lookup Amex charges, which didn't exist. Once I paid what was due, I tried to make nice with her, as it wasn't my fault either, and she continued to chastise me that she knew better! So she clearly doesn't know about customer service. The male manager was extremely nice the next day. The WiFi didn't work well. And also they were using a very noisy leaf-blower for a while in the morning, which really disturbed our ability to enjoy the morning.

Cabin was clean, I think we were in one of the smaller ones but it was fine for us. Bathroom was small and needs a bit of updating. Breakfast was fresh fruit and then either pancakes or rice and beans. Capuchin monkeys live in the area so you'll likely see those. Staff were always friendly and helpful, especially Betsy. Would be happy to go back there.

Property is nice, but very small. Room was quite tight. It is not walkable to main part of town, but a few restaurants are close enough. Staff was very nice and provided fruit for large number of monkeys to come by at breakfast. So that was really cool.

The location is about a 20 minute walk from the main town in the area, Santa Elena, which was convenient (we preferred to walk rather than drive as the road to the property is quite rough, like many of the roads in the region). Parking was available and never an issue at the property during our stay. Breakfast was provided and we enjoyed the monkey "guests". Staff were very welcoming. The triple room, however, was quite small. The "larger" bed was a double (not queen) and there was also a twin, but they were quite close together in the room. The main concern, however, was the inconsistent electricity. On both days of our stay the power (and wifi, which was decent when it worked), went out for extended periods of time. We're not sure if this is specific to the property itself or indicative of the area, but can say that at least on the first night, power was available up the street and in the town. Overall, the property is a good choice if you're budget conscious and don't want to stay in a hostel in Santa Elena.

Very cute property. Nice, clean, smaller rooms. Beds were very comfortable. Hot water came and went (solar water heaters, so not available all of the time). Property was small, but lots of animals. Staff was very helpful! Walkable to grocery store and restaurants.

Smaller hotel, appears yo be family run. Very responsive staff, and very friendly. Good location, close to the Butterfly Gardens and away from the main road but not too far. Great sunset view over the valley is a short 10 minute walk away.

Wonderful stay. Great and helpful staff helped us plan and arrange tours. Good value for money. Away from noise. Privacy. Saw a capybara eating from the fallen fruit (figs). Monse was especially nice and she has a beautiful and friendly little daughter. Great free fresh hot breakfast.

Dreams Monteverde was absolutely wonderful! Tonny and Yariel our hosts were very attentive and helpful. From the moment we arrived they made us feel welcomed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We also really enjoyed the breakfast. The coffee was delicious and we appreciated the Greetings from our hosts. I definitely recommend for anyone traveling to Monte Verde

The room itself was very disappointing, very small for 4 people, no air conditioning, the bathroom was very small and barely enough room to stand. The plumbing was terrible to the point where you had to throw toilet paper in the trash and there were instructions to do so. The bathroom also had cockroaches, that you could see after walking out of the shower. The staff were very nice, but the breakfast and coffee were mediocre at best. This was the only place we could find, would not come here again.

This was one of our best hotel stays ever. Tony and his team were excellent. Breakfast each morning was top-notch; Tony gave great recommendations for bird-watching tours, night walks, and ziplining; and our room had a little balcony where we could watch wildlife. We saw an agouti a couple of times and got a picture of a Motmot on the ground below us. If our travels bring us to Monteverde again, we will definitely be staying at the Dreams!

A very nice family run hotel close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and several other nature preserves and activities. I stayed a week and would stay again. A made-to-order breakfast is included and you can see Coati, Agouti, and numerous Costa Rican birds on the property.

The road leading to this hotel is currently under heavy construction. It was the likely cause of us getting a flat tire. I would rate this hotel slightly better than a hostel. Inexpensive but not "nice". Doors difficult to close because of the high humidity. Bathroom door handle was hanging loose. We were the only guest at this hotel. The employee left shortly after ensuring we were taken care of. it was highly unusual to be the only people at a hotel all night and into the morning when we checked out. Nothing bad happened. it was just... odd.
