The Shepherd Hotel Downtown Clemson

Excellent in every way except there isn't any parking unless you valet ($20) BUT their valet is very organized by a text system where the car is waiting AND they let us keep the car in valet past checkout while we were on the Clemson tour. Location is phenomenal. We walked to the visitor center for the Clemson tour - 5 mins. Well worth the extra money to stay in center of downtown. Very cool roof top bar with fire pits and another bar on the 3rd floor with a fabulous older female bartender. Also has a restaurant on the first floor with good breakfast but that service want good. The cashier girl was doing all the work while her manager stood by and talked. One family gave up and walked off without being served. We felt bad for the girl and briefly talked to the manager which didn't seem to help. Highly rec the hotel ! Oh, and front desk staff was fabulous as well.

Beautiful hotel in A+ location. Comfortable bedding and pillows and luxurious bathroom. We love the 3rd floor bar and rooftop. Rachel (bartender) is awesome and makes the best cocktails.

The property is beautiful! There is no gym, coffee and water in the hallway for the floor, kind of strange, restaurant closed on Monday.

Hotel was very nice and conveniently located. Service of staff is exceptional. Balcony was so so, faced offices but we weren’t in The room a lot so not an issue. Only other downside was valet only parking, adds to the expense of the stay.

This place is incredible .. my only issue is we were there on a Monday night and resteraunt was closed and bar offered no food so literally no food on the property .. not even the option to buy snacks or bottleed water

Onsite restaurant is nice but the rooftop patio is amazing with fire pits overlooking the stadium. There’s also a nice onsite bar with its own patio. Easy walk to campus for orientation.

Wonderful hotel, staff, dining and rooms - would go back next time I'm in the area. Hugely convenient for Clemson University. Lacking a gym and elevators were not working during my 4 night stay. Housekeeping services were variable.

I arrived 20 minutes prior to check-in and was told I would receive a text when my room was ready. An hour later, no text, went back and was told “of course your room is ready.” There were remnants of the prior guest left in the room, had to go down to the front desk because the phone did not work in my room. I stayed 2 nights and received a text that the bar would be closed on night 2 - no explanation given. Valet was great, location was great but for the price a clean room, working phone & use of the bar would have been nice.

Rooms are very small. Shower pressure was very low

The room was much smaller than I thought it would be. The balcony door handle fell off when we first opened the door and then the doors would not shut all night and the balcony light shone all night. Very disappointing and underwhelming unfortunately.

The biggest issue I had with this hotel was that they did not have a table for me to work in some hotel rooms. You have to pay a lot more to upgrade to have a room with a table to work. So, I am not sure it is worthwhile my money.

Great location, short walk to Clemson U campus. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cons: “Signature Kng” room was small with no desk. Parking is only available through valet and with significant cost, which I would expect in a major city, but not in Clemson, South Carolina.

The hotel was lovely—beautiful, wonderful front desk. Our room was tiny. But otherwise, it's absolutely the best place to stay in Clemson. I would choose this hotel again when we go back.

This hotel was wonderful! The room was big and very nice, the beds were very comfortable. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. And the food (breakfast) we had at the restaurant was wonderful!

The property itself is quite nice and I appreciate their commitment to hiring students and the “spirited” nature of their business model. This was our second time staying at the hotel. Our first visit was exceptional! This visit however fell short. We had a couple of issues and rather than a manager stepping in to help, we had to navigate resolutions through the student employees (to no fault of their own). We checked in and did not want to valet bc we knew we would be in and out a lot and didn’t want to burden the valet staff. Rather than allowing us that option, they told us we had to valet or we would be towed. Not a huge deal but with the extra cost of $25/day and the aggravation of waiting for someone to bring the car around added extra time to an already busy day touring and getting our kid settled. The second day of our stay we came back to a room that was allegedly cleaned but seemed overlooked and rushed. When we asked someone to come up to the room an employee (who again appeared to be a student) wasn’t equipped with the experience or insight to handle the complaint which made pointing it out frustrating. I really think a hotel that is charging luxury rates should have a seasoned manager on duty to oversee operations especially when touting the importance of customer service. The employee who handled our cleaning issue said it was a busy weekend and they were at capacity so maybe that was part of the issue but not an excuse when paying premium prices.

Staff was incredibly kind and attentive.

I’ll start by taking blame for making a reservation on the wrong two evenings. But I caught that a few days before I arrived and called the hotel and the person I spoke to at the front desk said it was fixed on their end and I needed to call Expedia to fix on their end, which I did & the person from Expedia even called the front desk to confirm the change in dates. When I arrived at the hotel, they did not have my second night. They did have the second night if I wanted to pay double. I went back on Expedia and booked it at a discount. More than what I originally had paid, but not as much as the front desk quoted me. What was worse as that they couldn’t figure out how to combine my reservation and wanted me to check out of the room at 11 and check into a new room at 4 PM the next day. Finally, a manager was involved and they allowed us to stay at the first room for a second night. I paid for a more expensive room And that would not be credited. The hotel is lovely is very well decorated. They could use an extra blanket in the bedroom but other than that it’s a very nice hotel. My real issue is that the front desk is run by students and I can’t blame them for any of it , the real concern is that management is not training them properly on how to handle issues other than a standard check in. A lot of time was wasted And each time there was an issue that needed to be fixed management wanted to train the student while I sat and waited. End story better training required.

Absolutely always amazing!! The Shepherd Hotel in Clemson is one of my favorite hotels on earth!! The staff is incredible, the amenities are great including the super comfortable beds. Of course the bar is always a must when we visit.

What a wonderful stay from the moment we arrived. The staff was warm and helpful, the rooms are lovely and clean ….. everyone made the stay top notch.

The hotel is nice, and super convenient, but the bars across the street are super noisy until around 2am, so if you get a room on the front be prepare to stay up late. Otherwise nice.

Property was gorgeous! Love how close and walkable it is to everything around clemson university and places to eat Breakfast was delish at delish sisters restaurant in hotel. There is a nice terrace by upstairs bar. Rooms can be a little noisy at night since across from popular and busy bars but not obnoxiously loud. Overall great stay and would come back!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Shepherd while visiting our daughter a Clemson. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a standard king room which was nicely furnished and very comfortable. Enjoyed time in the lobby hanging with friends and in the Thomas bar having cocktails. The Delish Sisters restaurant had great food. The hotel is conveniently located to the University and shopping.

Great hotel, nice staff and the cafe and bar were both very good convenient. Drinks were pricey though. Excellent location especially for Clemson.

This was a beautiful property, situated in downtown Clemson and walkable to the university. The front desk staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would have given it 5 stars but the espresso machine was broken when I was there and the kitchen was closed due to staff no shows so I didn't get to try the breakfast I had heard so much about!

Stay was good. Very convenient to Clemson. Restaurant was painfully slow (dinner and breakfast at cafe) and value for & not great.

We had an amazing stay. From the beautifully decorated, relaxing room, to the restaurant decor and excellent service and food, to the cute coffee stations on each floor, to the bar and deck, it was all fantastic!
