Very well-kept hotel in a convenient part of Manhattan--the theater district is within easy walking distance. The staff was always helpful, and doormen assured that no one entered who did not belong there. The week I was there, one of the three elevators was out of order, so sometimes getting to your room was not as quick as it might have been.

The staff was outstanding, the rooms nice. the only reason I gave 3 stars for facility is because the gym is tiny and very stuffy, not very good ventilation.

This is (at best) a 3-Star property. The price paid was way too high for the caliber of the hotel. Location was great. No real amenities. Staff were nice and helpful.

I really enjoyed my stay. I appreciated the room upgrade and the friendly customer service. The location is good. Short walk to public transportation.The only minor downfalls were there are no coffee makers in room, ice or vending machines. There's coffee in the lobby but it was crowded. Also, I thought there was a full restaurant in the hotel but its a 'bar' is set up in the lobby for happy hr. No big deal because its NYC. Still, for the price, location, and service, I'd return.

The bellman lent me an at an important time on Monday around 11:30am, for which I was grateful. The cleaning service was perfect. The hvac system in the room was a little old/loud. The “gym” was not great. Check-in was easy. Overall, a great experience.

Rooms are somewhat compact but clean, staff friendly and helpful. The card readers in one of the three elevators did not function very well. There's a happy hour from 5-6 and the first glass of wine is free.

The bathroom was clean. The sheets in the room appeared scuffed and dirty around the edges, probably from rubbing against the bed frame. The air conditioning did not cool the room to the selected temperature. The room was very dark. The hotel is convenient to the Times Square area and Columbus / Central Park.

Spacious room, spotlessly clean and kept that way every day. No street noice. Brilliant shower. Location is spot on. All staff are so friendly and helpful. Wine hour is a nice touch! So is the coffee in the lobby each morning. Highly recommended X

First the room wasn’t clean, especially the bathroom, there was hair in the small windowsill and on the shower wall. There was buckling carpet in the middle of the room where it was a trip hazard. There was dried food on the carpets and something smashed on the side of the mattress. Second, our room was directly across the street from noisy construction, which they should have had told us about and offered to move us. They cannot control construction, but at the very least should have disclosed it. Coffee was cold in the lobby. Lastly, upon leaving for airport, we were going to Uber, but bellman said their service was cheaper at a flat rate of $65. Driver didn’t even say hello or talk at all. We were charged $71.50 before any tip, so it’s not a flat rate. He didn’t even thank us for the tip. Overall, we would not stay there again given all the other options in Manhattan.

Just spent a week at the Ameritania, and it was good value for the money. Great location on Broadway, the staff were lovely and the room was clean - bathroom and towels were all excellent, and the bed was comfortable. As usual with NYC hotels the room was a little small, but it was fine. The hotel overall is older and could use a facelift, but it was fine and I think pretty good value.
Just spent a week at the Ameritania, and it was good value for the money. Great location on Broadway, the staff were lovely and the room was clean - bathroom and towels were all excellent, and the bed was comfortable. Didn’t feel clean, carpet never looked vacuumed, carpet was wet from aircon unit, aircon unit was so loud you couldn’t sleep without using earplugs, feet were covered in dust mite bites, access cards barely worked in the lifts, furniture was old and rundown, TV wasn’t a smart TV, no fridge or anywhere to store you suitcases, suitcases had to be lifted on the bed each time you wanted something from Them. Beware—Misleading Photos and Awful Experience at Ameritania • Upon check-in, I was given keys to someone else’s room. I was yelled at by an angry guest for trying to enter. • My actual room was worse: when I lifted the toilet seat, the water was red, muddy, and surrounded by a ring of stains—I literally screamed. • The door barely closed and wouldn’t lock properly, which made me feel completely unsafe. • I called the front desk, but they had no other rooms available. • I had to escalate to Expedia to get my money back after checking out the next morning. • This place is filthy, outdated, and run-down—the room should have been comped for the first night. I’ll be sharing this review everywhere—this hotel is not what it claims to be.

Great location for theaters. Check in and service was excellent. Room and bathroom spacious for New York and clean. Bed was a little hard and funny little pillows. A/C was old and sounds like a dump truck starting when the compressor kicks in. Very noisy. Shame as I would stay again if it was fixed.

The room was small, but didn't matter much as we were only there to sleep. It was very clean, the staff was very helpful and cheerful.....something you don't always find in a hotel. Location was good - just a few blocks south of Central Park and 4 or 5 blocks north of Times Square. Numerous deli's around for breakfast. The hotel offered a Happy Hour that we didn't notice until we were leaving so didn't attend. Would recommend.

AC kept resetting the temperature much higher (mid 80’s) than we wanted so was hard to keep room cool enough, also meant it was a little damp. No light in the hallway outside or inside if the room so fairly dark until fully into the room (there was a little hallway inside of the room). Staff were super helpful and friendly, and iced water was always nice to return back to. Bottles of water each day were a welcome addition and room was a good size.

Staff couldn’t have been kinder, but the elevators are having a very hard time reading key cards for all guest. And I couldn’t get my room colder than 75° the first night eventually, I realized I had to move the curtains off of the intake for the heater/air conditioner. But they didn’t know that was the problem.

Great location. Had to wait to check in because the only person behind the counter was on the phone. But eventually someone else came along to check me in. Moderately friendly but nothing special. Room seemed a little worn, but nothing terrible. Small, but that's to be expected in Manhattan. Air conditioning worked well. Plenty of TV stations.

The room is definitely not what I was expecting, between the shower not actually having a shower door to half of the things in the room already being almost broken was not worth it. The room gets hot extremely quick and the AC doesn’t work at all. I tried to call down to the front desk and the phone got a dial tone. I’m glad it was only one night because staying there for more than one night would’ve been horrible. I would recommend look into other hotels before booking this one

I booked a city view room and was surprised to see my view was directly into another hotel room across the hallway with no visible sky. The room was a tight fit as to be expected from a NYC hotel room. The shower was poorly engineered and got the entire bathroom floor soaked.

Room clean, bed comfortable, bathroom VERY small but clen and functional, no critters detected. Elevator key works 5% of the time - have to swipe until hand falls off... A/C and phone did not work in the room. After going to the front desk to get the issue resolved no one ever came to repair nor was another room offered. This is in 100 degree weather in NYC.
A/C and phone did not work in the room. After going to the front desk to get the issue resolved no one ever came to repair nor was another room offered. This is in 100 degree weather in NYC.

Hotel was excellent in every way. Location was wonderful, within walking distance to anywhere we wanted to go. If we couldn’t walk, Jalal was a jewel at helping us with finding a ride. He also was so helpful with our transportation to and from the airport.

We had a great stay at the Ameritania Hotel. The rooms are a little small and slightly dated, but they were clean, cozy, and totally pleasant — I slept really well. The staff was super friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. And the location? Perfect. Walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, and other major spots. Great value for a central Manhattan stay.

I had mixed reactions to staying at Ameritania. When I first checked in I was given Room 302 even though I had reserved a deluxe double. The wall paper was peeling and the noise was horrible - I got no sleep. The person checking us in was also very rude - saying there was no guarantee on getting the room I booked since I booked through hotels.com. The next morning I approached the desk and spoke to a different lady (I think her name was Sihum)- saying I got no sleep and could not stay in that room. She moved me to another room (916) for the remainder of my stay, which was very acceptable and much quieter. From the moment we stepped in the hotel we were welcomed warmly. Instead of holding our bags while we ventured the city before check in, they let us check in early at no extra cost. There was water readily available, fruit during the day and coffee and tea in the morning. Staff offered directions and suggestions and called a taxi to go back to the airport.

the interior is very old and tired. have to go buy slippers because the carpet is too dirty. there is heavy constructions (not the hotel's fault) across the street. they are building a new high riser which may take a couple of years. it is extremely noisy starting at 7am or 8am. the room is beyond cleanable. needs a remodel.

Always a great stay at Ameritenia. Great staff. Comfortable rooms, nice size for NYC standards, with nuce bathrooms. And the location is great for business and pleasure (but be aware a 60-ish story highrise is just going up across Broadway with lots of construction).

Great location to subway, Central Park and Broadway shows. Friendly staff, main downside was noisy construction adjacent to hotel (not their fault) but they placed us per our request prior to arrival in a room furthest from the construction zone.

My husband and I stayed at the Ameritania for our 20th wedding anniversary. The staff was very accommodating and they upgraded our room as a lovely gift! The king size room was amazing! And although an older hotel, the facilities were very comfortable. We were also very happy and grateful for the complimentary water and coffee station in the lobby every morning. 👍👍

The location was ideal for a trip to midtown Manhattan and the rest of NYC. Times Square and Central Park both in sight. On 54th and Broadway so close to absolutely everything by foot or on a quick subway ride with nearby stops. And so many small independent delis and coffee shops for breakfast! I’m so glad we stayed there and would do so again without hesitation.

The room was small, but didn't matter much as we were only there to sleep. It was very clean, the staff was very helpful and cheerful.....something you don't always find in a hotel. Location was good - just a few blocks south of Central Park and 4 or 5 blocks north of Times Square. Numerous deli's around for breakfast. The hotel offered a Happy Hour that we didn't notice until we were leaving so didn't attend. Would recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay. I appreciated the room upgrade and the friendly customer service. The location is good. Short walk to public transportation.The only minor downfalls were there are no coffee makers in room, ice or vending machines. There's coffee in the lobby but it was crowded. Also, I thought there was a full restaurant in the hotel but its a 'bar' is set up in the lobby for happy hr. No big deal because its NYC. Still, for the price, location, and service, I'd return.

We had a great time here. Rooms look just like the pictures. We had a double bed room and it was good for one person per. Two in a bed would be a little snug. Bathroom was modern and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. They also offer a complementary wine at 5 PM at the bar for an hour.

WiFi was good bed was king size as advertised and comfortable and shower pressure was good and hot. But….room was noisy beyond acceptable both from street and from the corridor and elevators. Hard to sleep as flashing lights from billboards right outside of room kept going all night and hard to completely shut them out. There is a bar open for a few hours in the evening but no room service and no food. The room keys operate both the elevator and the door to the room and they failed to function at least once a day. Overpriced considerably at over 600 bucks a night

We absolutely loved our stay here! The hotel was amazing, everything was super clean, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everyone on the staff was so nice and helpful, and they were always happy to assist with anything we needed. We also loved the little details, like having an umbrella in the room and complimentary bottled water every day! There was also water available in the lobby at all times. Another thing we really appreciated was having a doorman at all hours, which made us feel very safe coming back late at night. The location couldn’t be better, close to everything and with easy access to the subway. We had such a great experience and would definitely stay here again!

The furniture was dinged and the wallpaper scuffed, for example. Also, the entry under scaffolding was not so nice. This is probably beyond the hotel's control, however and I nitpick. For location, 10/10! Easy walking distance to the park, 5th Avenue, Carnegie Hall.

I needed a hotel Close to Times Square however wanted to a location that wasn’t too crazy busy and noisy. I was so impressed I will definitely book this area and hotel again, typically I stay in Chelsea however this is definitely more convenient overall and well priced for NYC.
