Good location in between Copacabana and Ipanema beaches - both are walkable. The room was quite small but had everything we needed. Rooftop pool has an amazing view, but the windows needed a clean. Drinks at the rooftop bar are 10/10!! Amazing service.

Our stay at Arena Ipanema Hotel, was great. The staff was friendly, and fun. The check-in/out process was easy. We stayed during NYE, and there was security on-site which added a level of security during our stay. The fitness center was extremely small but we found a gym with an inexpensive day pass just an uber drive away. Overall the experience was great and we will be returning!

This was my 5th stay at Arena, unfortunately it was not the best. More cold showers than hot, when I complained the maintenance came within minutes and said the heating had been off for a period. Same problem repeated every day. My business colleague in a different room experienced the same issue. The lifts were completely broken for several hours and suffered from random unavailability in the day following the issue. The hotel leaks when it rains, experienced this in previous stays and again on my last day. Lucky not directly impacted by this, this time. There was an attempt by a young man to smash through a glass wall into the hotel at 2:38am but he ended up cut up and bleeding as shards of glass rained down upon him. Not the hotels fault but security did take a long time to investigate what was going on. As a regular traveller to Rio I’ll give them one more chance because of previous enjoyable stays but cold showers are unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be 4 stars.

The hotel and service are excellent and the location is fabulous. A couple of suggestions to make it even better: 1. The shower in our room (804) leaks flooding the bathroom. Could this be fixed? 2. Coffee and tea facilities as well as a paper tissue box are standard amenities that were missing. 3. The hotel is by the beach, yet there is no shower or even a tap by the entrance, forcing guests to enter the lobby and their rooms covered in sand. 4. There are no umbrellas for the guests, and we were forced to leave under the rain (again, a standard amenity. Apart from those details, everything was perfect.

5/5 would absolutely stay here again. The hotel is super nice and not too $$. Rooftop is very cool. Cute little pool with some tables to sit. Location is 10/10... legit right on the beach Arpoador. Security - very safe. They are super strict after 11pm... have to show your face to a camera to unlock the door and any visitors not on the reservation have to check in at front desk and show ID/passport. Room - very nice and modern. Clean, nice showers. Front desk was very helpful with activities such as helicopter tour and how to get to sugarloaf and christ. Breakfast was delicious and nice buffet. I am staying here next Rio visit, no doubt!!

O quarto é bom. A localização ótima. O problema foi atendimento: atraso no check-in e problemas com a limpeza do quarto. Teve dia que o quarto não foi limpo. Quando faziam a limpeza, não deixavam toalhas limpas. Sempre tinha que solicitar as toalhas (aliás surradas, velhas).

Arena Ipanema is an excellent choice for a hotel stay. Nice clean rooms. Included breakfast is a nice bonus. Great location, quick walk to Ipanema Beach, a lot of restaurants nearby. Staff was very nice from check in to check out (including housekeeping). They were quick to address the sudden loud noise coming from guests upstairs. The young lady at the front desk always had a genuine ready smile whenever we passed by. Shout out to David Santos who would stay with us outside and chatted as we waited for Uber. You can tell he genuinely loved interacting with the hotel guests. We highly recommend this hotel.

My stay at the Arena Ipanema Hotel was okay, but it didn't feel like a 4-star experience. The staff was nice and helpful, which was a plus. However, the room left much to be desired. There was a bad sewage smell from the bathroom if the toilet wasn't flushed for over an hour. Every time we came back to the room, we had to flush to get rid of the odor. The walls were also very thin; we could hear people coughing, sneezing, talking, and snoring from all sides. Breakfast was nice enough, with some decent options available. The gym is non-existent. In the pictures, it seemed somewhat usable, but it’s literally just one machine in a small room. The pool is also a bit small. Although the views from the rooftop are really pretty, the pool itself is tiny and feels more like a water feature than something to swim in. So it is only nice if you only want a place to sunbathe. On the bright side, the location is pretty good. Even though it's not beachfront, it's very close—just a 2-3 minute walk to Ipanema Beach.

O hotel muito bem localizado no Arpoador, num prédio que passou por uma boa reforma, conta com piscina pequena e terraço na cobertura onde o serviço de bar e restaurante é sempre prestado de forma atenciosa, simpática e cordial pelo Bruno e pelo Antonio. As áreas comuns muito bem ambientadas e todo o estabelecimento parece ter passado por renovação recente. Ponto negativo para as toalhas de banho que estavam bem desgastadas divergindo do padrão que o estabelecimento pretende. Houve dias em que tivemos que solicitar toalhas à recepção porque não haviam sido disponibilizadas durante a arrumação . Apesar de oferecer boas e variadas opções, o café da manhã é servido em um restaurante com uma concentração de mesas que compromete a circulação e cuja posição das bancadas de comida e bebida é bem encantoada e dificultando também o fluxo das pessoas na hora de servir.

The location is great. The rooms have very thin walls. I could hear conversations, toilet flush, and shower as it was happening in my room. The design of the floors and rooms gave me the feeling that I am entering a container rather than a room!

Das Hotel war insgesamt in Ordnung, aber nichts Besonderes. Die Zimmer und das Frühstück sind eher basic. Leider war mein Zimmer zur Straßenseite, und der Verkehr war sehr laut zu hören. Die Lage ist jedoch gut, der Strand ist in nur 3–5 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Der Ausblick von der Dachterrasse war nicht wirklich beeindruckend. Positiv hervorzuheben ist, dass mir ein späterer Check-out um eine Stunde ermöglicht wurde.

This hotel has 3 things going for it: excellent customer service all around, location (beautiful beach behind the hotel accessible from a park next to the hotel), and good breakfast buffet of local dishes, fresh fruits, good coffee, and a wide assortment of bake goods. On the negative side, the rooms are clean, but tiny and and not much room to even open suitcases or walk around. Don't plan on using the room for anything other than sleeping and showering. Don't expect any extras like wash cloths or hair conditioners. Given the location and the price, I would stay here again.

I loved this hotel! Clean, sleek, cool. Spacious rooms. Amazing rooftop with pool and bar that overlooks Arpoador Beach. Also, you are right on that beach!! So the location can’t be be beat. The breakfast exceeded my expectations. The staff are so professional, friendly, and kind. My only complaint is that the walls in the room are very thin. You could hear complete conversations or even someone snoring in room next door. Besides that, a perfect stay. I would lodge here again.

Delightful staff, great breakfast, brilliant location. 3* review as rooms are VERY noisy - could hear neighbours either side :(

We stayed three nights at Arena Ipanema, due to the location and that it had quite good reviews, but considering the price per night it was not worth it, so we moved to another hotel for the remaining 6 nights of our stay in Rio. Based on the price and the fact that it’s a 4-star hotel, we expected the facilities to be at least a bit luxorious, but the general vibe of the hotel was more like a slightly more fancy version of an Ibis budget with very tight rooms with thin walls between them, minimal storage space so we had all our things on the floor, and you could see by the corridor that this is a result of trying to stuff as many small rooms together as possible. The A/C was way to big for the small room, which meant that it was either way too cold (ON) or too warm (OFF). The roof terrace and pool was also quite tight, and the few sunbeds were mostly occupied, so better to just head for the beach which luckily is close by. Check-in/out was also a hassle and took very long, since the computer system didn’t work, and only half of the staff knew english. We had one meal in the restaurant which was ok, but way more expensive than it was worth, and we had a 20% discount through Hotels.com which they said would be deducted automatically at check-out, but it wasn’t, and since it wasn’t noticed when we checked out it took 4-5 e-mails over as many days before they even replied, but it got sorted in the end after me also sending e-mails to the other hotels in the Arena chain.

Arena Ipanema is an excellent choice for a hotel stay. Nice clean rooms. Included breakfast is a nice bonus. Great location, quick walk to Ipanema Beach, a lot of restaurants nearby. Staff was very nice from check in to check out (including housekeeping). They were quick to address the sudden loud noise coming from guests upstairs. The young lady at the front desk always had a genuine ready smile whenever we passed by. Shout out to David Santos who would stay with us outside and chatted as we waited for Uber. You can tell he genuinely loved interacting with the hotel guests. We highly recommend this hotel.

Perfectly located, so close to Ipanema beach and short distance to Copacabana beach. Clean, modern, great included breakfast. Nice roofdeck with small pool and bar/restaurant…and amazing views of the beach and mountains. Lovely spot to chill in late afternoon and enjoy sunset and a cocktail. Efficient, friendly, helpful service throughout. Short walk into town for shopping, restos and farmer’s markets. Price was very reasonable. Will definitely stay there again.

Just behind Ipanema beach and Aproador rocks. Very short walk to Copacabana beach. Couldn’t have been better located. They take security of guests very seriously and you can opt in to use facial recognition to access the hotel at night.

On the negative side, the rooms are clean, but tiny and and not much room to even open suitcases or walk around. Don't plan on using the room for anything other than sleeping and showering. Don't expect any extras like wash cloths or hair conditioners. Given the location and the price, I would stay here again.

The hotel is located well. Copacabana is, in my opinion, a little run down. Ipanema is not! Some great bars and restaurants close by, the metro only a 10 minute walk away. An early morning run along the beach is a must (if that’s your thing), be it to the north or the south. Would I stay again? Absolutely!

The staff and everything they could easily control were great. Location was very central. I was unsure based on the pictures, but the pool is only for a dip, much too small to swim in. Noise from other rooms was a problem…not the worst I’ve experienced, but a problem. I could hear conversations, even snoring, from the adjacent rooms and every step taken in the room above me. Severe enough I had to use ear plugs despite being in a room above the park.

The walls are really thin. We could hear the room next door. The air conditioning unit was really noisy. The shower was also really confusing to operate. They only provided thin sheets for sleeping.
