Very nice reproduction of an 18c coaching inn so all the features - low beams , furnishing, panelling - but clean and modern with it. Bathroom was nice but the floor was sloping which made me feel a bit dizzy and drunk so watch out for that if you have any balance issues. The only reason I did not give an excellent was that we arrived in a heatwave and the staff had not bothered to close the curtains so the room was baking hot stifling. We had also booked a twin (via Hotels.com) but it came up a double, The staff seemed a bit irked that we asked for bed to be divided. A fan was provided. The fridge was off and I had to find a way to plug it in . The extension lead situation was a bit precarious and dangerous. Worth eating in - food was of a high standard. Staff were fine but not overly-friendly.

The pub's centrally located and my room and bathroom were spacious, clean and looked to be recently refurbished. A variety of tea and coffee was provided. Staff were very helpful. No breakfast served midweek but cafes were easy to find. There's parking nearby and may be found free on-street. Keys provided for access and exit when the pub's not staffed.
