Décevant..il se passe quelque chose dans cet hôtel. On découvre après avoir réserver et payer que l'espace détente et le restaurant sont fermés.. De plus le petit déjeuner est très limité et industriel.. Le parking extérieur est facturé 15 euros ! Donc bel établissement mais beaucoup trop cher pour ce qu'il offre. Et est ce 4 étoiles quand les toilettes sont dans la salle de bains ? Personnel sympathique mais pas à la hauteur du soit-disant standing.

Stayed here in order to tour WW1 battlefields with a guide. 2 nights. Room was clean, all in working order, modern. Restaurant was closed—we knew that arriving. Bar was open. Location is excellent across the River Meuse from the town center—all walkable. Staff was friendly and attentive—I would be happy to visit again.

We tailgated into the car park but pressing the buzzer gains the receptionists attention to open the gates - not sure what the parking options are if it’s full as it was fairly quiet when we visited. Check in was easy & there’s a lift to all floors. We had a garden facing room with a big bed, lots of storage and a good size but a bit of a curates egg: brown shag-pile carpet, in the 21st century, really? The weirdest thing for me though is that you can’t alter the a/c temperature yourself, you have to ring reception to get them to change it. That’s just plain stupid. There’s a bar & restaurant, which we used. The fixed price menu is fine apart from the strange whipped cream cheese course which was not pleasant (note to chef - change it!). Verdun is on your doorstep and easily walkable with bars and restaurants just on the other side of the bridge and the tourist information office just around the corner. Tried booking the hotel direct and it was extortionate but affordable through Expedia.

A convenient stop for the town, though not much choice. Staff were welcoming. Room aircon locked so became very warm at night, hotel a little run down in places. Restaurant closed for refurb. The room price was on the high side for what it was.

Walking distance to the most tourist attractions like the cisterne of verdun etc. Parking next by the hotel is a top pick. But there are 2-3 points what was not so good: the A/C is not controllable (the temperature) from the room control panel itself. The max what it's possible to regulate from the reception is 19 degrees. We had room 104 means that the sun hits / warming at the room the whole day so that the a/c does not cool the room even on max fan speed. And around 24 o'clock it's cool enough to get a good rest. No storage location for shower gel etc in the rain shower. In front of the hotel is a Restaurant/Bar on a boat and almost every day was there loud noise from coversations and music - means that you have to keep the windows closed.

Nous avons réservé une chambre junior suite pour 2 adultes + 1 enfant, soit 3 personnes. Dans la confirmation que vous nous avons eu du site, le prix était bien indiqué avec le nombre de lits adéquat. Au final, l’hôtel nous a facturé 25€ de plus car d’après eux c’est automatique au delà de 2 clients dans la suite. C’est indiqué sur le site de l’hôtel mais rien n’est mentionné sur la réservation hôtels.com De plus, certaines erreurs sont apparues sur la facture mais celle-ci n’a pas pu être corrigé par la suite malgré mes demandes. Le séjour en lui-même était très bien et l’hôtel est confortable, mais ces aléas sont quelque peu désagréables et la communication aurait pu/dû être meilleure à mon avis.

My booking was misplaced. So when I arrived there was little left in rooms. They made it sound like they were giving me an upgrade but it seemed more like a room they were avoiding using....as we found out later the internet did not work nor did the mini fridge...two things we wanted....hotels response..." ah yes others had told us the internet did not work...". I asked for some sort of compensation re the room price and was flatly refused. The hotel was nice....in that it had a lovely back yard....a nice little bar area...and we met a number of folks who like us were studying the Battle of Verdun. Both our grandfathers fought in WW1 in France. One died with TB a gift of life in the trenches....he was only 40 when he died....leaving behind 5 children. The beer was great in the bar...cold.....that was where we used the internet to check in for our next flight. I think the staff could have been nicer to us...especially knowing they had lost the reservation....fortunately I had all my documentation. We are both 75 and this was the first time using Expedia....mostly because I always felt you would not be treated as well as when you booked through the hotel itself....this seemed to be a correct assessment.

Les Jardins du Mess is a charming hotel on the Meuse River in Verdun. Our room overlooked the river and the town, which lights up at night to highlight World War 1 monuments. Très bon séjour pour lequel j'ai été surclassée dans une suite. Trés belle expérience, dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de restaurant ouvert au sein de l'établissement.Ceci dit, il suffit de traverser la pont pour accéder aux restaurants de la ville ;)
