The pictures shown are from rooms that are well lit but the room we were in had a side window facing the neighboring building and felt dark even during the day. Knowing that there is no air conditioning during the current hot English summer, it wasn’t the best experience. Internet was hit and miss. The shared kitchen area was equipped with microwave, toaster, stove etc. and was usable for simple breakfast preparation. The location is walkable from the Taunton station and 10 minute walk from all the shopping.

After geftting over the fact that it was not a hotel with meals available, as advertised on Taunton page and maps, the place was comfotable with plenty of close cafes and restaurants nearby. Also excellent were all the staff we met, very helpful indeed.

Nice enough place to stay to lay your head down. Bring your own hairdryer though, don't believe them when it says they have their own in the room

Reception very helpful, hotel very tidy, everything ok. Only quibble, a few small flies in the room which I killed off. No parking but easy to use the railway station car nearby.

Very friendly Staff room clean Very small room very small Small double bed ,no proper heating just an oil field radiator supposed to be underfloor heating that never worked shower only Luke warm those small bed very comfortable but the room was very cold and no proper car parking only at the front but it's a limited time No breakfast but facilities if you wanted to cook

Good value for money, Friendly staff, Room, reception area and corridors are tidy and very clean even if the building looks pretty old. All the credit for cleaning and management staff. No onsite parking which is inconvenient for guests.

Excellent staff, appalling matress (never had so bad), shower needed some updating and deep clean to remove the mould. If this was the 'Premium room' that I booked I hate to think what the 'standard room' was like?

This hotel was horrible and I would not stay there again. We arrived just after midnight and the reception area smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. The room itself smelt horribly of stale cigarette smoke, even the bedding smelled. The bathroom seemed fairly clean but the sink was cracked and stained, as were the taps, generally all very tatty. The room we had looked absolutely nothing like the ones on the website, if I had seen a representative picture of our room there is no way that I would have booked it. As we arrived so late we just had to put up with it but if it had been earlier in the day I would have walked out and found somewhere else.

My room was really dirty,as well holes,cracks in the wall. A shower with some dirt,as well the toilet wasn't really clean. But also stains and crumps on the carpet. The room was smelly. The WiFi connection wasn't stable,it always cut it off. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Do not even consider this ‘hotel’. If Expedia want photographs I have many! We stayed in room 9. The room in general was very run down but worse than the marks on the walls and doors was the filthy bathroom. We did not take a shower as it was too dirty. The worst offenders were the mattresses. Please, please, please check your mattresses (underneath the protectors) before using. Both our mattresses were heavily stained with what we assumed could only have been urine on both sides so they had been turned over and put back on the bed. They were unfit to be used in any hotel. The only saving grace was that the manager apologised and issued a full refund but only after I showed her the photographs.

I arrived late (after midnight) and was met by a super nice manager who got me sorted. The room was clean and spacious. It was on the front side of the hotel so traffic noise was inevitable in the morning.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is within close distance to the Rail Station, Cricket Stadium & Town Centre. Staff were great & very helpful. Bedroom was large & comfortable & despite being near the road was fairly quiet. Bathroom needed updating but was large. For the price I paid, the room comfort, staff & location I would say this hotel is perfect & will definitely be staying again.

The hotel was very clean and the bed was comfy with lots of good pillows. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Small thing, but the mirror in the bathroom was too high and small, and the wifi was a bit patchy.

The property and room were clean and had good amenities. I would recommend it for those who are deep sleepers, however I would not recommend it for light to average sleepers. There is zero sound proofing so you hear every door that opens/closes, suitcases being wheeled and conversation. While the beds were comfortable we barely slept due to the noise.

The property is not as advertised. Staff are rude and racist and ignorant. Got to this tiny silly reception met by two rude women and whe advised that the property’s adverts were misleading they quickly ran to their office desk and put a charge to my card and never came back to me to to offer keys of a room they had charged locked themselves in their room returned an hr later still none came to help me after I raised a complaint with booking for com

The room was warm and well appointed and larger than it looked on the website. A comfortable bed and I loved the deer paintings on the wall! The shower room was new and immaculate. No wasteful miniature shower gels, etc, as this was provided in a bulk dispenser, which gets eco-points in my view. The service was friendly and very helpful, down to providing herbal teas when I asked. Round the clock in person presence. Extremely close to the station and excellent value, with a very affordable room rate.

As soon as we got reception staff couldn't do enough for us. First day went to the cricket got to see most of the game before rain stopped play. The rest of the match was virtually a wash out. Plodding round the town visiting places that were recommended all very good Wil be back.

Always a great stay at the Ashton. The staff are great and the hotel is in a perfect spot a short way to the train station. Very accommodating in holding bags before check in. LOVE this place!

I arrived late (after midnight) and was met by a super nice manager who got me sorted. The room was clean and spacious. It was on the front side of the hotel so traffic noise was inevitable in the morning.

Ideal location if arriving into Taunton by train, less then 5 minutes from station about 10 minutes walk into the town centre. Also less then 10 minutes walk to cricket ground, the reason I was in Taunton.

This was a last minute booking - on arrival we were offered a ground floor room at the front on a busy road- luckily the staff member on duty offered an alternative further back, which was very quiet

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is within close distance to the Rail Station, Cricket Stadium & Town Centre. Staff were great & very helpful. Bedroom was large & comfortable & despite being near the road was fairly quiet. Bathroom needed updating but was large. For the price I paid, the room comfort, staff & location I would say this hotel is perfect & will definitely be staying again.

The pictures shown are from rooms that are well lit but the room we were in had a side window facing the neighboring building and felt dark even during the day. Knowing that there is no air conditioning during the current hot English summer, it wasn’t the best experience. Internet was hit and miss. The shared kitchen area was equipped with microwave, toaster, stove etc. and was usable for simple breakfast preparation. The location is walkable from the Taunton station and 10 minute walk from all the shopping.

After geftting over the fact that it was not a hotel with meals available, as advertised on Taunton page and maps, the place was comfotable with plenty of close cafes and restaurants nearby. Also excellent were all the staff we met, very helpful indeed.

The property is within 3-5 minutes walk from Taunton Station and very easy to find. Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. Reception is open 24 hours a day which is useful in case of problems. I booked a standard single room which was clean and warm with reasonable en suite facilities although the shower was inclined to swap from very hot to cold water without warning. The fridge in the room was useful as the hotel is room only. Coffee and tea are provided, I stayed for 2 nights and it would have been good if the mug in the room had been replaced with a clean one the second night and more coffee and tea sachets left in the room. The bedside light in the room was nice but would have been improved had there been somewhere to plug it in.

Really happy with our stay in the Ground Floor Flat. Layout gives space and privacy for an extended family, especially when connected to adjoining room. Very happy with the price paid on a 'cost per person' basis. Everything seemed newly refurbished and, while fittings were not luxury, everything was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and location was very convenient for what we needed - ideally between the railway station and cricket ground - albeit not the most picturesque part of the town.

The hotel receptionist was really nice and very helpful. She swapped our rooms for us and made us very welcome. We had a family apartment with 2 bedrooms, a lounge and a kitchenette. It felt a bit unloved, like it wasn’t used very often.

A good option for visiting Taunton. Good location as it's walkable from the train station. Front desk staff very friendly & helpful. Room was very clean & included a mini refrigerator which was appreciated. Beds comfortable. A minor issue--towel racks & hooks are definitely needed as wet towels need a place to dry.

This looks like a big old hotel that has been updated in to decent sized apartment style rooms. The check in was easy and staff were helpful. The room was huge! Really huge and well appointed. It was super comfortable with everything you would need. There was even a fully equipped kitchen. Rather than eat out, you could cook if you wanted to. The hotel has no bar or kitchen, so no breakfast is offered, but there are lots of places to eat within a 2 minute walk. The only issue I had was the temperature of the room. It was very hot outside, 30C, but the room was almost unbearable. The corridor was way more comfortable and cooler. The room felt like it was 40C plus! If you open the windows, the road noise was pretty horrific. The fan they provided did not touch the edges of the heat. It was the only issue I had.. To be honest, for most of the year, this would not be an issue.
