Travels Inn Victoria County

Was advertised as having bar & lounge which it did not have. Limited dining within 1/2 hr drive. No coffee in room or microwave. Window was inoperative.

The room was good for the price but our WiFi did not work in the room.

No microwave and NO coffee maker.

Safe parking. Comfotable bed. Polite staff. Comfortable bed. Unfinished wall construction in the room. Limp pillows. Stained toilet. No amenities. The website says bar/lounge and there isnt one. Cheap soap in the bathroom.

I arrived pretty tired after getting up very early to catch the Port aux Basques ferry and then the long ferry ride. First, the positive. I've stayed in a lot of places and they had, bar none, the best coffee ever. I appreciated the breakfast although bare bones. Place was quite clean. Check in didn't make me feel very welcome. First, the owner said he will not allow dogs in the future. Ok- that didn't feel good as I arrived with my dog and they said they were pet friendly. It was dark and I am a solo female traveller. They sent me to a behind the motel, more remote room, backing onto some kind of hill, with nobody around. I never found the room and insisted on being in front with other people. So after driving around, going back to the front desk and nobody there. Had to call them on the phone. Not the friendliest people and never tried to help me out. No wifi pw in the room- walk back across property to front desk. It's on the wall at the front desk- but of course they don't tell you that. Then, wifi and TV don't work. Back to front desk. Oh,,,, the switch on the wall that would be for a light actually turns wifi and tv on/off. The room was clean but dated. But not a single paper cup in the room. Nothing. Couldn't adjust AC and the room was stuffy. The bathtub/shower was from the 60's- so I wouldn't use it. Those who rated this place 10/10 are either fake reviews or these people don't get out much. The most I would rate this place is 6/10. Skip it

We reserved a king deluxe room. Were given 2 double. Only shades that did not cover windows, drywall patch by heater, unsecured cable wire coming from wall. The furniture was old/chipped. Bathroom had mold on tile grout with no tub drain. Wasn’t even a paper cup in the room. When told that the room was unacceptable and not what was reserved, we were given another room with king bed. Room was not at all clean and obviously hadn’t been used recently. There was literally a massive pile of discarded furniture and appliances outside of the room, including a swimming pool used as a dump. We were told that was all that was available and we needed to contact Expedia for a refund. Because of the Celtic Colours festival crowds , we were unable to secure a room at another hotel the first night of our booking. We stayed one night but found other accommodations the second night. The ‘breakfast’ was very minimal with poor quality food. The overall conditions of the property was very poor with piles of dirty linen outside as we pulled into the parking lot. Outside fire pits had unburnt garbage.

I’m not typically a critical person. This is the first negative room I’ve ever posted.The room was dirty and the bathroom was worse. It clearly had not been cleaned. Previous guest’s soap left in the shower, soap scum/residue from bar soap on shower shelf and on sink. Toilet not clean either. Spilled something on top of the mini fridge. The room had a smell we think was bug spray. Our room had a cheap doorknob know that didn’t feel secure at all. We pushed furniture in front of the door to alert us if someone tried to come in. We had other people in our group and the two other rooms occupied by them weren’t better. One couple skipped showering because the bathtub didn’t look clean. I would not stay there again and wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Outdated, filthy, tub not cleaned, baseboards dirty. The bed was comfortable and the sheets may have been cleaned. Property run down and no maintenance

Where do I start? Room was beyond disgusting. I contacted Expedia immediately and they did nothing other than contact owner without telling me. Resulted in awkward discussion and owner berating his staff in front of us. He put us in a similar room that was marginally better. It was not his staff's fault. Property is poorly maintained. Pipe rattled, bathroom fan sounds like jet engine, beds were awful. Blood on comforter. Walk in price was $50 less than what we paid on Expedia. We would never have booked this place if we saw it first. Expedia gave us a $50 goodwill credit. Other reviewers that gave this place perfect score are out to lunch. They must normally stay in hostels. This place is one tiny step above a hostel. Very disappointed more with how Expedia handled this situation than how bad the place was. They made the situation worse. Thankfully we only booked one night.

The reviews here lead me to believe that this was a decent hotel. I spent time and money killing about a dozen flies and ladybugs in the hotel before I stayed. The tables were all dusty and clearly the areas under them are not cleaned regularly. I'm glad I didn't get bed bugs which is why I gave them 2/5

Room is dirty. No light. Washroom is gross. Staff need to have detailed clean.

The bathroom sink hot water tap banged if the cold water wasn’t turned on first and then there was no hot water. The tub mat was mouldy so awful. The white towels were actually brown and stained. This was their deluxe king room. It was disgusting !

We booked this hotel based on the mostly good reviews on the booking site-8/10 and 10/10 for the majority of the reviews. There were the odd 4/10 reviews but you always have some of those so we didn’t think too much of them. Our experience was really bad. Pros: a really nice view, a fridge & a location that was a perfect stop for that point on our trip. But that’s the end of the positives. We stayed in room 10. The bathroom needs to be gutted, it’s full of mildew and the faucets were full of limescale and rust. It smelled very musty. A previous guest had drawn a happy face on the mirror with a bar of soap and it wasn’t cleaned off. Then it got worse. Around 11:30 pm we found a BEDBUG crawling on the edge of one of the pillows. We only found one bug and did not find eggs but upon closer inspection there were multiple blood stains on the bedskirts and a layer of dust on the lower part of the bedside furniture. The sheets had hairs in them that were not ours. We did not end up sleeping in the room after the discovery. One of us slept in the vehicle and the others stayed up all night perched in vigilance watching for other critters. Spoke to the manager who asked for pictures of what we found, said he would address it with the cleaning staff. We left and followed up later on, asking for a partial refund, which he said he would. Now that our trip is done we followed up because no refund was received and gave 2 days to respond. Nothing. Would not recommend staying here.

Big windows made for everyone seeing in .the tv didn’t work and the fridge didn’t either. Our freezer bags for our cooler thawed.There was no bar or restaurant

No air conditioning, nice view, convenient location.

This is basic accommodation. Its an older motel that's had a few upgrades and some poorly applied cosmetics. When it comes to shelter, a bed and bathroom, it functions.

We have a great view! The room is newly renovated and clean. There is a some road noise, the refrigerator is not working well (loose plug, shuts off) and the paint job is not uniform inside or out.

The Travel Inns looks like one of those good’ol times motels I use to travel to back in the days with my parents. But don’t be mistaken, the rooms are set with a respectable choice of furniture, either new or well refurbished, and it is so damn quiet, slept like a baby, windows wide opened, with the fresh breeze of Lake Bras d’or coming in. My room was super clean and comfy; cable tv didn’t work though in spite of following instructions. Breakfast was useful, although ordinary.

Rooms were clean Bed was brutal. Too hard and uncomfortable. I barely slept and could barely walk out of there. We left long before breakfast was offered.

Staff were terrible. They didn't cooperate in any case. The front desk guy is not helpful and behavior was too bad. If we asked for any service he was telling, "what are you expecting in 150 CAD?" Isn't it a bad way to serve a client?

As we got to the motel after a long day to get our room keys, there was no one at the front office and it was locked. He had left a few keys in the mailbox and we did not know which room was ours. We had to call the number on the door where the owner didnt even bother to come assist us. We finally got into our room that looked like a jail cell. There was hair and stains on the beds and the bathroom was dirty. We were only provided one towel for 4 guests and when we asked for more, they were stained as well. We barely slept at night knowing we were sleeping on suspicious stains and the walls were not soundproofed. Given that the hotel is on the main road, there was a lot of noise along with our upstairs neighbours stomping around. The hotel had free continental breakfast which barely had any options. I found it to be very unhygienic as there was just a slab of butter on a tray for communal use. We could not even shower as the bathroom and towels were filthy and just chose to get out of there as soon as possible. Overall this was a terrible experience. My family and I would never stay here or recommend this place to anyone ever.

We had booked a 2 bed room, but there was only one bed. Moreover, when we reached there, there was no one to check us in, and had to call a number. The number wasn't responsive and we waited half an hour to get our room. Once in the room, there were no instructions for us about basic necessities like how to turn on the lights or connect to the wifi. The breakfast also was mediocre with no labels on what was being served. Overall, a terrible experience for what we paid for. no

Staff member at check in refused to speak to me. He would only speak to my husband although my name was on the reservation and I was paying for the room.

The host very kindly allowed us to check in late after we experienced difficulty locating the motel. He also provided directions over the phone. Really appreciated

As others have stated the customer service is lacking as in the office is not staff at all times during midday although someone did answer the phone number left on the door. Hot breakfast was just okay. There would certainly be better options within 30 minutes. If it was the only place available I would stay again as the setting is fantastic, but would try to find something else even it it meant I had drive a bit

there was nothing wrong with this property. I knew what to expect when booking and booked as it was a short stay during a long day of travelling. Just a little dated, but clean and spacious, with a nice free breakfast. There are NO food options within a 30 min drive, and I drove 1 hr round trip for pizza as we arrived late and hungry!!!

We selected this motel because if it's close proximity to the NL ferry ...It was disappointing since we selected the upgraded King Suite option..we found it to be dated and just ok in comparison to other places we've stayed and paid the same money for... The so called "hot breakfast " was less than desirable with undercooked sausages ..and eggs offered . It's not a place we would go back to ..

L'endroit a beaucoup de potentiel. Besoin de rénovation majeurs. Propre mais passé date. Pas de verres dans la chambre. Personne à l'accueil à notre arrivée. Vraiment vieux les meubles datent des années quatre vingt. Nous entendions les gens d'une chambre parler tard dans la soirée. Déjeuner vraiment limité sans fruits et semblait être des œufs précuit chauffé au micro-ondes.

We stayed two nights. The property needs updating and tidying up. The included breakfast was eggs and sausage and bread/bagels for toasting. The breakfast area was not very clean so we passed. The TV did not work in our room.

The sheets were dirty (one bed had a brown stain across the sheets), bathroom had hairs in it when we arrived. Breakfast was awful. Very few options and what they had did not look at all appetizing. We arrived at 8:30am (breakfast was 7:30-9:30) and there was mess from other guests that had not been cleaned up and no staff in sight. Only options were cereal (cornflakes or Cheerios), full fat milk was only milk choice (big 4 L just kept on counter for cereal and tea/coffee), bread and English Muffins, gross looking sausage patty's and flat circles of eggs (type that is frozen and heated) and plain instant oatmeal packages. That was it!! No fruit, no yoghurt, no baked goods. I ended up eating a small bowl of cornflakes and that is all - the sausage and eggs looked so awful (and I generally like both!). I was actually hungry an hour later. We were VERY disappointed in the breakfast. No real plates or cutlery either, all paper plates/bowls/cups and plastic cutlery. My husband has stayed here before and had a great experience. There are new owners as of a year ago and they have obviously cut corners A LOT. They took tea/coffee makers out of all the rooms and do not even offer it at Reception. The new owners seem to be doing things as cheap as possible and it shows. I had my parents here from the UK and regret choosing this accommodation.

We enjoyed our one night stay. The rooms were clean & the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was basic but still had several options & was good for what we wanted. Bottled water was left in the room which was a nice bonus.

Healthy choices for breakfast would boost nutrition with yogurt and fresh fruit.

Parking area small, room was very cold even with heat on, breakfast was convenient but lack of options. We expected this type of experience with the price of the accommodations, we just needed a place to sleep for the night.
