Great location and beautiful view of the Cape Fear River from the room. Hotel had direct access to the boardwalk which was only a short 1/2 mile away to the Riverwalk. Also, the hotel was next to the ACL Railroad Museum which I visited. Only issue was parking was $15 per night. But the hotel is within walking distance of all downtown attractions so we just kept the car parked. Breakfast was good.

The elevator was out of service and staying on the 3rd floor having to climb stairs at my level of medical issues really sucked. The room, while had a great view, definitely needed a revamp with painting, caulking, etc.

Could not believe we had to pay to park even one vehicle. Understand the extra vehicle needing to go elsewhere but think the hotel should had spots in parking deck like the embassy suite did. Loved our room! Staff was nice. Parking just sucked! Need to mention this in the reservation. Had stayed before with friends and this was new.

View of the water and the window was so fogged up I couldn’t even enjoy the view. There was only a very thin blanket on the bed. No additional blankets in the room. Had to pay additional $15 for parking (which they said they would email the receipt for and never did send it. I ended up itching all night and still have bug bites ALL over my body. Wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.

Great location in Downtown Wilmington with nice river views. Staff was friendly and the complimentary breakfast was actually really nice! With that, the floor in our room was very dirty and the beds were not comfortable. The drain in the shower barely worked and there was rust in the tub. We asked for housekeeping to clean our room one of the days and they never came.

The location is excellent—plenty to do and see nearby, which made getting around easy and enjoyable. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The property itself was okay but could use some updates. Unfortunately, cleanliness was a real issue, with noticeable lapses in both the room and common areas. Overall, not a terrible stay, but I wouldn’t rush back.

My room wasn’t very clean, there was hair from other people on the floor in multiple areas and the floor was wet when I got the room like it had been mopped, however it never dried even with ac unit on, the floor was still wet in the morning when I got up.

This facility is in need of a renovation and enhanced cleaning. It is a great location, but is very run down and dirty. The elevator, the walkways, and especially the floors of the rooms are every dirty. My son walked around barefoot in the room and his feet were turned black. It was gross. I know the team does the best they can with what they have. Best Western needs to invest in this facility as it could be a lot better than it is. I don't know when the last upgrade was, but this needs to be put on the schedule soon.

Very friendly staff, and great location. The only issue we had is that our room had a strong musky scent. As the hotel sits on the river, this may be common, but I would think that the hotel could do something (eg de-humidifiers) to improve this situation l.

The Hotel is in need of an overhaul, it is outdated and needs repairs. The towel rod in the bathroom was loose and fell when I hung the towel back on the rod after a shower. The paint on the walls needs a fresh coat, the shower grout needs to be replaced and the wood decor on the exterior soffit is hanging in ff the building and will fall at any minute. The staff is friendly and the views from our room were fantastic.

This is an old property. Given the rate, I expected a more comfortable and well-appointed room. The room had a new laminate floor and a decent bed, but the rest of the room felt like a budget hotel. And the bathroom was outdated.

Good location by the river. We had a river view room and it was well worth the extra cost. Breakfast was quite good, but the whole hotel, whilst very well maintained, could do with a little spruce up! The WiFi was unusable, as it constantly froze and dropped out, requiring to log in again. The river walk is very nice and had several waterfront dining options.

Good visit. Elevator was out while we were there and had to walk up several flights. The door to the room did not latch and therefore the room could also not be locked. Discovered this after sleeping overnight. Door open outside to balcony so this made us feel unsafe in retrospect. River view and location were great tho!

Pat yourselves on the back! I arrived in Wilmington at 4 pm. It took me over 30 minutes to locate the hotel. No signs, gps gave poor directions. I had a 5 pm commitment. My check in went smooth, once the people in front moved on. Both had used Booking and were charged more than Booking quoted them. Then we all were told that there was a $13 parking fee. None of us knew this ahead of time. Very small parking area. Staff at the front desk had to keep getting managers to deal with them problems. Made me miss my event that cost me $75. I finally got to my room, dumped my stuff and changed. When I asked for directions to the venue, no one could tell me much. I finally arrived at the venue after it ended. My room was warm until I changed the AC. It was ok, beautiful view , no microwave in the room, only a fridg. But I slept well. Breakfast was wonderful, the lady is charge was very friendly and helpful to everyone! The food was excellent! When I returned to my room, I was locked out, 1 hour before check out. Their system hadn't been updated for DST. I'd rate the hotel a 10, but the front s desk staff needs more training. Their policies need to be revised! That part I'd rate a 5.

They also charged us extra fees that we weren’t expecting and the lady didn’t explain them before charging our card. I come to Wilmington once a year and always stay at this property. The staff is always friendly and courteous, the property and rooms are always clean and it is located right on the river. There is shopping, lots of restaurants and great night life on the weekends. I always love my visits here.

I enjoyed my stay there , the workers in lobby are very helpful and friendly I did stumble across one of the front desk clerks saying me sitting on bench smoking made her look dumb which I had no problem with moving around but clerk was clocking out of work to leave so I’m not sure exactly what happened but other than that all the ladies individually were GREAT and I would definitely recommend them to people , great breakfast area , enough lounge carts , great snacks area along with alcohol all that’s missing is tobacco products,

Great location and beautiful view of the Cape Fear River from the room. Hotel had direct access to the boardwalk which was only a short 1/2 mile away to the Riverwalk. Also, the hotel was next to the ACL Railroad Museum which I visited. Only issue was parking was $15 per night. But the hotel is within walking distance of all downtown attractions so we just kept the car parked. Breakfast was good.

This property is located directly on the riverwalk and so convenient to everything in the charming historic district. It looks like an attempt was made to update the accommodations with flooring and linens but fell short somewhere when it comes to the bathrooms. (the walk-in shower had plenty of hot water and an updated rain shower head but the condition of the grout within the shower had it "floating" around while you were showering. The bed and pillows were amazing...the towels plentiful and fluffy - but perhaps the best part beside the location was the gracious staff - which to me is so important to my feeling secure and comfortable when I travel. Someone had said parking was an issue - I did not find that to be so on this trip unless it is the time of year. I also felt it was a secure location and paying a nominal extra fee for parking is usually expected in a large city.

Our room faced the river and had a lovely and peaceful view. The hotel is on the river walk within an easy walk to restaurants, shops, the historic district, etc. The breakfast was plentiful and varied (the coffee is good) The staff was welcoming and accommodating.

The rooms were very clean. Staff was very friendly. They have a great coffee cappuccino machine in the lobby but also regular coffee which was nice. Right on the board walk and walking distance to go shopping. Great stay! Oh I really loved the shampoo which normally is no good at hotels.

It's wonderful and convenient to stay on the Riverwalk. The hotel is clean but a bit dated. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The daily breakfast buffet is great. Several hot choices, waffle makers and typical morning food. I think the $15 per day parking charge is ridiculous.

This hotel is in a great location. Right on the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk was not what we expected. It was not nearly as nice, but that has nothing to do with the hotel. Unfortunately, the TV in the room works with a ton of channels, but there’s no way to, select the channel you want you have to scroll through all of the channels. In other words, we couldn’t find the channels we were looking for. The breakfast was great

The view was great! Nice view of the riverfront and access to the Riverwalk was perfect! The breakfast was as expected and well replenished. The size of the breakfast room is very small, so gets crowded quickly, but all needs were available. Room was clean, beds were very comfortable. Pet friendly, and our first time taking our dog to a hotel. It was better than what we expected a pet friendly hotel to be like, as we are very picky and clean people. I didn't hear or have any negative encounters with other pets. Will definitely come again. Such a great location!

We drove 6+ hrs to Wilmington after booking our queen-size accessible room, only to arrive and get a full-size accessible room. I immediately went to the front desk and asked why we were in a full-size accessible room and if they could put us in a room with the bed size we had actually booked and paid for, or at least give us a discount for not giving us what we booked. They said there was nothing they could do since they had already filled all of the queen-size accessible rooms. And, we would need to pay more for a queen-size non-accessible room since they are more expensive than accessible rooms. They said because I booked with a third party website that there’s no guarantee that I will get the room I requested. I hope management can explain how this makes sense. FYI, we booked this room at least a month in advance of our trip, so one would think that was ample time for the hotel team/manager to confirm and book on whatever internal platform they use. Additionally, we called Best Western corporate only for them to tell us that the manager needed to advise/approve on giving us the room we booked or a discount. This was within the first hour of us checking in for our 3-night stay. We have still not heard from the manager. No discount + wrong room = an accessibility issue. And, paid $15 for parking daily, but no guaranteed parking spots!? Management, please reply to our request for a discount so I can update this review.

This was a very nice property, and we really enjoyed our stay. It was easy to get on and off the property, and the location provided a wonderful opportunity to get some exercise and enjoy a peaceful stroll. We felt very comfortable and at ease during our stay. The room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was quite small, but it was clean and perfectly acceptable for our needs. When we arrived, we were greeted by a wonderful young lady who was very kind, friendly, and helpful. She was also a lot of fun to talk with and made us feel very welcome. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and really enjoyed the property. We would be happy to stay here again.
