Paramount Times Square - A Generator Hotel

Room is small but fine enough for solo travel & the low price. Lobby is beautiful. Gym is really lovely.

The room was fine and it was clean. The staff was not very friendly upon arrival or during check-in. The elevators were incredibly slow and we found ourselves waiting at least ten minutes at times to get on an elevator. There were no facecloths in the room.

This hotel is in a great location. It's lobby is warm and inviting, the french cafe outside the lobby has good coffee and pastries. The rooms are efficient and snug. But, if you go NYC you know you are not in your room much besides sleeping, so it doesn't really matter. It was clean and just as we expected. We found our room for a great rate and we pleased. The fitness center has 3 treads, weights, a peloton - perfect.

They don’t have parking options !

2/4 Elevators weren’t working. It made it uncomfortable, with 15-30minutes wait. The rest was ok

Check in was quick. The front desk was extremely helpful when needed (for an extra towel). Hotel was very clean and well kept upon entering and in the rooms. Location was perfect for a very quick walk to Times Square, Hells Kitchen, and many other areas of interest. Coffee/cafe right outside of the entrance, as well. Only issue was the elevator service. Mornings (checkout time) both days there were only two of four elevators in service...eventually leading to the14 floor hike down.

The hotel is pretty conveniently close to Times Square, which is a huge plus. The lobby is beautiful as you see in the picture. However, we booked the hotel because I wanted to have access to their parking. When we got there, there was no more spaces for us. They referred us to another hotel down the block, the Marriott, where we paid $85/night. It was completely unexpected. We had to text or call that hotel 30 mins before or if not, we would have to wait an hour. We called that hotel and they rudely to us to them but when we would, half of the time, the text wouldn’t go through. It was just super inconvenient that we had to go to another hotel. We also asked for early check-in and there was none, understandably, because it’s summer, but we had a show to attend, so they held our bags for $2/bag. We had a lot of suitcases/bags. In the span of a hour, we spent so much and none of this was communicated to us. They kept sending us everywhere with half information. I just knew about the amenity fee. At check-out at 3:30 AM, nobody was at the front desk. I waited for a few minutes and when nobody came, I said hello. There was man hiding and sitting behind a wall on the computer. He clearly did not want to assist me and told me to put my key card in the acrylic box displayed at the front desk. I told him that I didn’t have it on me. I would have to searched my bag and I couldn’t because I had a flight to catch. He finally checked me out at my insistence. Just keep this mind.

The lounge area in the main lobby was quite nice and comfortable, though the music choice never suited the decor and vibe (usually they played hip-hop music when I think jazz or indie might have better suited the space). There were a couple of nights where a singer came and did covers and she was excellent. The bar was quite expensive ($19 for a gin & tonic). I also found the staff were generally fairly and pleasant. Once small gripe was the elevators. Only 4 are available and for 19 floors and the number of people going up and down, you'd end up waiting a long time it you were on a higher floor (I was on floor 17), and youd stop 4-6 times on the way up or down once you finally got on. My room was small as expected (I stayed in a single, twin bed room) but clean, comfortable, and all you'd really need. Chromecast on the tv in the bedroom was nice for entertainment. If you don't expect to spend time in your hotel room other than to sleep, then you'll be fine. However, there was no coffee pot or kettle in the room, so you'd have to go down to the 4th floor for ice or hot water - just in case you don't want to be buying a coffee every morning. If you're going to see shows, it's a really good spot. You're right across from Hamilton and most shows are within a few blocks. It's the Times Square area, so there are lots of people and traffic, but you'll get where you need to get to in a 10 minute walk. Cross 8th Avenue into Hell's Kitchen, and there are a lot of places you can eat

Great quality for price. Excellent location in theater district. Water pressure on higher floors a little weak. Beds comfortable. They have an ice machine but only provide plastic bags no paper bucket. No cups in room. Need to get paper cups at ice machine. Reliable housekeeping every day. No wash cloths just bath and hand towels. Small charge for baggage storage and package delivery. Coffee shop off of lobby.

Reception and housekeeping staff were excellent. Most hotels don’t charge to store bags, but they charged $3 per bag, which seems ridiculous when paying so much for the room. No amenities in the room-there should be a coffeemaker, bottled water, ice bucket and body lotion, which other hotels provide.

The room was dirty. It was obviously not cleaned because we found someone's leftover dinner from who knows how long ago. They make you pay to just simply use a cart to bring stuff up to your room. We made numerous attempts to get staff to send up toilet paper but no one ever cared to do it. This rooms in this place are like prison cells. Look elsewhere

Great overall! Friendly staff and incredibly close to Time Square. Can't beat it! Rooms were generally clean, just old, I'd stay again.

The rooms are dirty and small. There was mold on all the doors and in the bathroom, half the staff is rude- their communication between eachother is severly lacking. We paid almost $60 for a late checkout just to be harrassed and rushed out. For the price i paid i expected more. At least the lobby looks nice i guess, its all for show though. The front doors are always open and roaches get inside, crawling around the floor. However certain members of staff were very good, professional, helpful, and well mannered, specifically loved the bag staff and the front desk. When using military ID the bar in the lobby did not accept it, dubbing that it was not a valid form of id.

Sparkling clean and comfortable bed, super fast elevators

Arrived my room was not ready waited 2hours the room they gave me was completely a disaster dry wall everywhere on the floor shower curtain completely broken off the wall there was feces in the toilet as well when I arrived also they didn’t have a other room to give me told me they had a bunk bed room to use for the meanwhile told me they would refund me resort fees which I have not got and the next day I had the room changed they charged me 247$ which the manager had no idea how that happened but still didn’t do refund I would never stay here again and never have experienced something like this on my vacation also the room they gave me the wall falling apart have photos disgusting

The staff were very nice and helpful. The room had a lack of maintenance and damage throughout. The phone did not work, walls had chipped paint, the bathtub was chipped and dirty. Lack of amenities and broken amenities in the room. Some of the furniture was dirty and stained.

Dirty and needs serious updates and general work. Most walls have damage and flaking. The bathroom tiles have mold in the caulking. The water pressure is inadequate and the temperature never reaches an average heat. There was trash in my room when I check in —a condom wrapper and plastics. The bed had stained linens and didn’t appear very clean. The mattress was extremely soft and saggy.

The room smelled strongly of bleach and was not clean. The sheets looked dirty, and there were several small hairs on the sheets when I pulled back the comforter. I left the hotel and booked a room at a different property.

Location was great, right off Times Square but the cleanliness and comfort of the room leave a lot to desire. I even found toenail clippings on the floor by the window.

The room originally assigned was TINY, and the heat didn't work. When I reported the HVAC problem, someone came up, fiddled with the system, said it should come on and left in under 5 minutes. A call to the front desk in the middle of the night was handled rudely by the night staff. The good news is the next morning management handled the problem swiftly and professionally. I was moved and upgraded for my inconvenience. The rooms were lightly supplied with amenities, 2 hand and bath towels, hair dryer, but no wash clothes, no cups (cups and water for the whole hotel were offered at a water station on a lower floor), no coffee makers, limited electric sockets, and no USB or other digital electronics ports. For the cost of the rooms, I would recommend looking at other hotel properties in the area.

Rooms did not have cups for drinking or brushing teeth. No wash cloths for washing face and body. The thermometer was locked and not able to adjust temp but the window opened and allowed a cool breeze all day.

The room was much smaller than the advertised 160 square feet. The windows were not air tight and there was a lot of nice to hear from the outside. The loony and location were great

Hotel is walking distance to Time Square. Noise from Time Square could easily be heard from our room. There's no TV or refrigerator in the room.

This is very old property. It is well maintained, and looks nice. But it's missing some basic hotel stuff. No coffeemaker, no bar soap, no iron, no wash cloths. Weird to be missing such basics. Room are very small, but look nice. Like I said, really old property from when rooms were tiny, but made up as nice as possible. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't missing basics.

Was expecting a bit more but was comfy. Couldn’t turn the TV on, wasn’t sure if I didn’t know how or it just wouldn’t turn on to be fair.

The room was cold and old. I could not get the room comfortable for my taste. And the room needs updating.

1. Air conditioning unit went sour so it was very hot. Engineering came to my room and fixed it. Then, it was unbelievably cold in my room. Not adjustable. Engineering came up and fixed it again. 2. Very few amenities in the room. No ice bucket. No cups for water. No coffee machine. No refrigerator. there was a room safe. 3. Carpeting was a bit worn and did not look like it was vacuumed before I entered. 4. Even though I was on a high floor, the noise from the street and the construction across the street was loud. The window did not seem to stop the noise. Early morning banging and airhorns - woke me up.

Great location, small room, the bathroom and shower area very small. The bathrooms and showers are bigger on a cruise ship. Thin walls - you can hear anytime someone was opening or closing their doors or walking by.

The Paramount is a clean place to sleep just off of Times Square. The rooms are small (as one should expext in a nearly hundred year old NYC hotel), the bathrooms are ugly and awkward. We had some sort of massive vent in front of the toilet that lead to us having to sit on it sideways. The beds aren't exactly comfortable. Many of the buttons in the elevator were missing. The lobby looked cool. At the end of the day, the price isn't bad, the beds and room are cleam, and the location is great. It won't be the best stay of your life, but it certainly won't be the worst.

My initial room had a window that would not close so I was upgraded to a different room at no charge! The staff were polite and courteous throughout my stay!

Excellent service. Allowed to check in very early for a small extra fee. Staff were friendly and helpful . The room is basic, but fine for my needs. The location was Amazing!! Will stay there again!

This hotel was so accommodating, and it was perfect for us to be near lots of the Broadway shows! The decor was definitely giving Gatsby, which was fun! The service was great as well, a take-out restaurant forgot to give us silverware and the front desk helped us out. The price was also great compared to what was around us!

I noticed a leak in the bathroom upon my arrival at 4:30 pm and brought it to the attention of staff. When I arrived hours later after 11 pm, the leak was worse and the bathroom was flooded. The front desk said I needed to contact Hotels, which I did. The front desk proceeded to not answer three phone calls from Hotels. I was finally moved to a different room after an hour, and am seeking a full refund.

Do not stay at this property. It’s an overpriced hostel at best. From the moment we checked in it was awful. Booked 4 rooms. We didn’t check in until 7:45 PM that night. When I went to my room, there was urine all over the toilet seat. I went down to the front desk and complained. They said they would send housekeeping. I went back to my room at 11:30pm still no housekeeping. Absolutely disgusting. Other rooms were not cleaned either. One of the beds wasn’t made up in the double room. Moldy pillows in one room. When we requested to move, they showed us a room with no TV, no baseboard and a disgusting bathroom. Mercedes the night manager wouldn’t answer the phone to hotels.com so we had to go down stairs. She said she would refund us the money but we had to pay for the first night, which was uncalled for considering we left before midnight and had to find another hotel. Didn’t receive my refund for the $321 in taxes I paid when I checked in so I had to go back two days later. The day manager was so lovely. However, she did inform me that I hadn’t checked out, which is weird cause I had already got a confirmation email confirming refund. She did it there and then for me. I read on one of the reviews that it was recently renovated. I asked the day manager she says it was under new management and that the owners were from London and owned lots of hostels which made lots of sense. Do not book this Hotel is not a four-star. It’s one at best.

The hotel has high resort fees. When I checked in and asked what they were for, I was told they were just for taxes. When I explained, I did not think that was legal, I was sent to the hotel manager who promptly canceled my reservation. I had to spend an hour late at night getting another hotel through Expedia.

The issue with our stay is that we received no help with a broken AC unit in the summer. Our room was never serviced on and stayed around 78-80 degrees all day. We were sweating and so uncomfortable with no air flow. We had to go to the lobby several times for them to just let us know they will put in another ticket for service and could not move us rooms because they were booked. I was promised 1 night would be refunded due to our poor experience, but after receiving my statement in the mail today, that was not the case. I have reached out and hoping to receive the help and receive the refund I was promised as we had a terrible 2 nights.

Terrible experience, when I checked in I noticed the Air Conditioning is not working, I tried to call the front desk, but it wasn’t listed on the phone like all other option, and that tells front desk trying to hide as first option or as a default response, I pushed the button on the phone calling the Guest service, and a recorded message was telling me “This room is checked out” even though I was in it and check in. Then tried to reach the front desk using my personal phone but no one answered the called. After that, I called Expedia and reported the issue, then the Expedia lady tried to contact the hotel but no one answered the phone. Before I left the hotel to explore the city, I went to the front desk and told them that the air conditioning is not running, it was set to 69, and the room temperature was 76, so the front lady told me that she will send an “Engineer” to fix it. I came back to the room close to midnight and the air conditioning still not working. The next morning the same story, I reported again to the front desk, and came back and it was still not working. It was cooler to sleep outside than inside. Then I got Expedia to make the hotel manager get involved, and he figured that the technician came and checked the AC, and said he can’t fix it now, because it needs parts, so he moved me to another room. Their front desk is rude lazy and unprofessional, they just come to get paid. The hotel is outdated nothing in the room and expensive.

The location was incredible! It’s about 50 ft from Times Square! Staff was very friendly.

Very nice hotel in the heart of Times Square and walkable to just about anything

This hotel is located a quick 3 minute walk to the middle of Times Square. All theaters were a 6 minute walk or less. Close to many subway entrances which made travel easier. The drains for the sink and tub did not work well but we were still able to use them. Staff was helpful and you have the ability to store bags before and after check in/out for a small fee.

Despite being a block from Times Square, it is quiet. Easy to get to multiple theaters, Times square, shopping, subway and bus stops. We found the staff very service-oriented. Having water and ice was a huge plus as we didn't have to buy over priced water in the city. And the baggage service for dropping off luggage before check-in or after check-out was well organized and enble us to maximize our time in the city. I would stay here again.

The area of the property was amazing! We were around so much! And just a 1 minute walk to Times Square. Beds and pillows were comfortable, and we were satisfied!

THE ELEVATORS TOOK WAY TO LONG TO RUN. ALSO NOT EVEN A CONTINTENTAL BREAKFAST WAS INCLUDED. OTHER THAN THAT, GREAT, ACCESIBLE LOCATION, WALKING DISTANCE FROM TIMESQUARE AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

This hotel has an unbeatable location for visits involving Broadway theatre or the Times Square vicinity. The staff is so gracious and friendly and does everything they can to make you feel like a valued guest. The price is usually a huge bargain on hotels.com! You'll have a tiny room with scarce space to lay out anything at all. Same for bathroom. And the room will be clean but, though updated, it is an historic building with some signs of age. But if you want an affordable, convenient, clean, friendly place with a huge lobby to impress your friends, the Paramount is for you

The hotel is in a great location. It’s a beautiful art deco building and the lobby is amazing. It’s a cool place to stay. However, since my last stay in 2001, the bedrooms are on the shabby side. They need improving. Still a great place to stay and if the bedrooms were as good as the lobby, it would be perfect

The lobby is the selling point of the hotel. Although the hotel smell is abit too strong in the lobby. On day 3 we had a bit of a headache from it. The rooms are clean but run down. The bathrooms could use a revamp.

Excellent location in Times Square, very clean room and friendly staff. This well designed hotel has everything I need . I enjoyed the cozy lobby and the adjacent French cafe.
