Informal, buzzy hotel with lovely, friendly and efficient staff. Had an issue with our room and quickly moved. We booked basic twin but would go for the club in future as more roomy and modernised. Dog friendly hotel, dogs I think are booked into the ground floor rooms. Menus in bar and restaurant which are right next door to each other are good for allergies. I’m GF but had no problem. Pool is small and busy but all one depth and not too deep. Well maintained and you can’t get in without filling in a form, being a guest or a member. Didn’t have time for a treatment. Hotel parking is limited, saw some charging points. We parked in front of hotel reception in the public car park which was fine about £7 a day I think? There is a short walk to the Cathedral, shops and even nearer for the theatre. Slopey rather than hilly. Good location. We felt safe there. Good shopping! Will book again.

The hotel is situated on a car park within walking distance of town. On arrival we were allocated a room with a very old bed which dipped in the middle. The aircon was also old. We were moved quickly and pleasantly to a better room, very comfortable bed but very warm with the aircon above the bed blowing straight on you. The spa facilities were good but the pool very small. All the staff were good and quickly dealt with any issues. The water station in reception was a very good idea. We didn’t eat in the hotel as there is plenty of variety in town.

Great location and perfect for visiting the city. All the staff were exceptionally helpful, kind and friendly. The food was great- lots of choice at breakfast. The heating in our room wasn’t working but once we mentioned this an oil-filled radiator was delivered which sorted out the problem. A big disappointment was that the swimming pool was out of action. We chose this hotel because of this facility so it was unfortunate and frustrating not to be able to swim.

This was booked for a spa getaway in between Christmas. They advertised a totally refurbished Spa and Gym. On arrival, we was informed that the pool was closed for scheduled maintenance. If we had know this within the cancellation period, we would have changed our booking to another hotel or date. The gym itself was tiny. One bike and two running machines. Had to wait to use the bike. Someone using the free weights so again had to wait as there is a small limited area in which to use them. Really disappointed with the Spa and gym facilities. We should have been made aware of the pool closure as this was scheduled maintenance and not a failure issue. Feel really let down. I

Lovely hotel, rooms ready on arrival slightly earlier than planned. Spa was great, staff friendly and helpful, treatments were very professional. Pool was shut for maintenance which was a shame but we were not charged for parking as a result. Convenient location for a walk into the city centre.

The Winchester Hotel and Spa was a great value stay. I stayed one night for a birthday treat to be able to enjoy the spa. The spa facilities are excellent and included in your stay. The gym was surprisingly well kitted out, but the spa was the highlight. A lovely relaxation area, good amount of places to lounge, lovely heated pool, sauna, hottub, steam room and plunge shower. Excellently comfortable and clean and would be great as a spa day too. The rooms are a clean and comfortable. The restaurant for dinner or breakfast didn't really appeal. The hotel was easy enough to find and a short wander from the train station.

Hotel clean and bright, staff attentive and good at their job. Spa facilities perfect for the hotel, clean and fresh. Massage the best I've had in the UK. Well done. Bar and restaurant nice and relaxed. Food extremely good especially for the price point

Overall a really lovely, clean, modern hotel. Our room looked brand new, and the bathroom was spotless. A bit of noise due to adjoining room door, made it less sound proofed, but luckily had nice neighbours. Spa a bit oversubscribed, ran out of robes, steam room closed and jacuzzi full of thick white foam. But the pool and surrounding area spotless as was changing room. There's a lovely relaxation room to use prior to an incredible treatment. I highly recommend you treat yourself. I had Kinga and it was one of the best spa treatments I've ever had! We had breakfast, which was great, and had a lunch from the bar menu, which was really impressive. Loads of parking and wonderful staff. Overall 9/10, would definitely come again. Despite a few criticisms, the value for money and service makes this hotel a definite on my return list.

The staff were excellent. The breakfast was very good. However the room was disappointing. The velux windows were frosted giving us no view of anything. There were smells coming from the drains. The shower was leaking. The bathroom was not clean. The A/C was not working.

The room was nice if somewhat dark - dark wallpaper and dark furniture. The bathroom had a big shower but signs of mould in places. Sadly the shower didn’t work brilliantly, changing pressure and temperature. The spa was great had a fabulous massage.

The hotel is good, but again the whole trip was ruined as room 006 has a very strange smell. It comes from toilet and has no ventilation. It was only for one night otherwise would have never stayed in the room. It was a strange weird smell which bugged us all night. A lot of insects too. Other than that, spa is average but could be improved specially the pool area. There was a power cut for us which they came to fix it but had no electricity for good one hour.

Staff were friendly throughout. Hotel was clean, well decorated and comfortable. The spa was fabulous and a welcome addition after a day of walking in Winchester. This is likely more of a personal request but since they have communal changing areas, bigger towels for those guests that just can't quite fit normal towels would be an appreciated addition - it's the little things!

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were outstanding and check in was very smooth. The only downside of our stay was the cleanliness of the changing room floor of the spa. Also no spa robes were offered. The room itself was great, clean and decent shower. We would visit again!

Arrived and on nearing the entrance to our room two take away boxes of pizza and some other smelly foods greeted us outside our room. In entering the room and using the toilet we found the toilet to be broken. We immediately notified reception who said someone would be there to fix it and to remove the smelly take away boxes and left overs from the night before we assume. We went to the spa for a swim to return and nobody had been. On leaving for our evening meal away from the hotel I asked again at reception for someone to fix the toilet and remove the rubbish. We returned from our meal to find the boxes and left overs still there and the toilet broken making a noise that woke us up through the night. They simply didn’t care! At breakfast trying to cut into our food we found the knives were so worn there were no teeth left to cut into the food so struggling to cut things up. Honestly very frustrating and we had given up on telling anyone. Receptionist took £50 off but still had to pay a huge amount for a mediocre room and low standards. Location was good that’s all I can say.

The hotel is in a quiet area and walking distance to town centre and eating places. Disappointed with a small room with no windows just a skylight, considering the hotel is not full. We paid extra for breakfast which is ok, but could do with a coffee machine as the coffee was tasteless and weak in a cheap metal jug - not in a 4 star hotel. The bartender was friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay to celebrate our silver anniversary. Nicely decorated room although very dark and warm. Asked for a fan and it was brought immediately. Thank you to all the lovely staff and for our anniversary gift. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Great area with lots of nearby restaurants and an easy walk in to the beautiful main high street.

Spa was clean and not busy at the time we visited. Breakfast had a good choice of options. Beds were comfortable with a good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. Unfortunately we visited in party season and were in a room directly above the function rooms… great if you like to party in your own room, but not ideal if you want to go to bed early or try watching the TV, as the music was so loud. The staff relocated us to a room one floor up and further away from the function room, but you could still make out each tune - Insomnia by Faithless never felt so ironic. When the music did stop, I woke during the night to hear something scratching about in the ceiling space above the room. Unfortunately the Premier Inn stay up the road the night before was so much better overall, and only half the price!

Not somewhere we will be rushing back to. Having booked a classic double room for one night we were initially given room 209 which can only really be described as a box room with just a skylight window. The wall by the bed was stained with coffee/tea or some other substance. Other than that the room was clean and had the facilities advertised. The reception and bar areas were comfortable and well maintained. We didn't use the restaurant. The spa area was also modern, clean and tidy but the pool was really to small to use for swimming once three or four people were in it.

Excellent hotel and spa. Easy walking distance into city centre and historic areas. Only fault was the a/c was broken and we didn’t notice until 11pm - we rang the front desk but no one answered, hoping to get a fan. We had trouble sleeping as the room was very hot. Suggest managers check the a/c is working in all the rooms.

The room itself was a good size however wallpaper was coming off the wall in several paces. The carpet at the threshold was threadbare. The plug socket above the dressing table was loose and coming off the wall. Water systems very noisy from other rooms & Finally the skirting board had been kicked in below the air con.

Hotel is a bit tired and in need of an update. Suites aren’t what you’d expect from a suite - more a slightly larger room - and definitely are not sound proof, despite being advertised as so.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, with one exception on the first night, Monday 12th, when the man, unable to read any badge on him but he always wore a white jacket, first of all failed to book us in for dinner, then failed to bring the water or the wine to the table. After a near 20 minute wait we asked another waiter, Nick, who apologised and immediately brought the wine to the table. What a contrast between Nick and the arrogant guy who was next to useless. The lamb steak was lovely but my steak was overcooked and cold. Nick refunded us the cost of the steak as a compensation. The second meal we had on Wednesday 14th, was perfectly served and we were very well looked after by different staff. The room was lovely but we experienced a blocked sink was not resolved while we were there. The room itself was well appointed with an excellent shower and a nice outlook. We did not use the spa.

Could be a really nice hotel, but it's sadly not. Checked in and the interconnecting door was open, fridge not working, no safe in the room, chipped and stained toilet seats, accessible room allocated despite not being requested, fruit platter full of mould, dirty towels everywhere outside the room causing trip hazards etc... Staff also not consistent in their service. Called for Reception and Room service and no one picks up... I had beverage credit included in my Expedia reservation and this was not given to me... Housekeeping made homophobic comments as I was staying with a friend for the first night (had twin beds) and on the second day staying by myself and asked for a double bed to be made. Housekeeping started shouting to the other attendants how 2 girls are sharing a bed? They then continued to make me a twin bed? All was just such a let down. I wouldn't stay here again, a disappointing stay sadly!

We came here for a little valentines mini break and we had a great stay. There were some minor issues with the room which we almost immediately correct but the amazing staff. We were also given complimentary parking as an apology. The staff really went above and beyond. Huge thank you to elsa also.

Arrived and on nearing the entrance to our room two take away boxes of pizza and some other smelly foods greeted us outside our room. In entering the room and using the toilet we found the toilet to be broken. We immediately notified reception who said someone would be there to fix it and to remove the smelly take away boxes and left overs from the night before we assume. We went to the spa for a swim to return and nobody had been. On leaving for our evening meal away from the hotel I asked again at reception for someone to fix the toilet and remove the rubbish. We returned from our meal to find the boxes and left overs still there and the toilet broken making a noise that woke us up through the night. They simply didn’t care! At breakfast trying to cut into our food we found the knives were so worn there were no teeth left to cut into the food so struggling to cut things up. Honestly very frustrating and we had given up on telling anyone. Receptionist took £50 off but still had to pay a huge amount for a mediocre room and low standards. Location was good that’s all I can say.

We have just got back from an incredible stay at the Winchester Spa Hotel. From the moment we stepped through the entrance till the time we checked out. The reception staff were polite and helpful, the foyer was beautiful decorated. Our room was close to the spa which was an excellent location. We stayed 1 night to go to the Christmas market, wished we’d have had 2 nights though. The town is a 10 min walk with lots of nice bars and restaurants. We had brunch at Kavi Coffee which I can highly recommend and also a drink at the Cabinet Rooms again excellent. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, the food was amazing and well presented. Lovely staff. We enjoyed the spa which was fairly quiet considering it was a busy Christmas weekend, so able to use the jacuzzi, sauna and pool, and the beautiful relaxation room. Which had drinks and fruit provided. I can honestly say the whole weekend was amazing. Parking is provided at a cost. A lovely surprise was a voucher towards a drink per room. Not sure how long the offer would be on for though. I can highly recommend the hotel and Winchester itself for a weekend break.

We had a lovely, short stay at the Winchester. The property is well-located, just about a 5-minute walk from the train station and less than 15 from the cathedral. The facilities were very nice - we didn't use the spa but did use the pool and it was a bit chilly but clean, and great after a day of traveling. It was our anniversary and they thoughtfully left us some chocolates. The room was clean and the shower had good water pressure. Our only complaint is that the beds were not very comfortable, but as we were just there for one night it wasn't a major issue. We stayed in a basic room, so perhaps the beds in fancier rooms are more comfortable. Overall, I would recommend staying at the Winchester.

The room was very dark, so not the best for getting ready to go out. Everything else was good. Shower is great, bed very comfortable. Breakfast was nice. They did run out of plates quite often and I had to hold up the queue for a bit while waiting for a plate. The coffee was ridiculous, my husband likes strong coffee but honestly it was like gravy, he had to put a whole milk jug in and it still wasn't really drinkable. No idea what went wrong there! A pleasant stay though.

The staff are friendly and helpful although some staff at breakfast could do with a little more training as finding corn flakes seemed a challenge and we were told there were none but another member of staff found them without too much trouble. The classic room was all we needed for a single night but we did have to remake the bed before getting in it because it looked like the bed linen had been thrown on as it was all disheveled and crumpled. I would guess this is a result of time pressure on housekeeping staff but not what we would expect to have to do. Food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Would stay again if in Winchester.

Close enough to city and rail station, spacious room and good ensuite, but a warren, takes two different lifts with a walk in between to reach third floor. Great sauna, but pool is very small. Terrible coffee.

This was a lovely hotel, all the staff were very friendly & the food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced for a 4 star hotel - the only issue we had was they don’t have steak knives which we found incredible!

Room was a good size and comfortable but a lot of meandering from reception to get there - very cheeky to have to pay for parking £4.80 per day! Breakfast good - dinner average - tasteless chips! V. Noisy bar next to restaurant. Good location near to eateries/attractions etc

Excellent service and facilities, from start to finish. Free little gifts and water bottles to keep hydrated were a lovely and much appreciated surprise. The evening meal (lamb with side of creamed leeks & brocolli) and mocktail were amazing, probably the best ever. Car park was not entirely clear, but worked out in the end, except for there were no electric charging points free, in either of the hotel or adjacent council car parks.
