This is a lovely property although almost impossible to locate. GPS does not work properly in the inner city maze where it is located in Genoa and this property is tucked on a walkable only street within a street within an alley. There is no street access. Parking is very far away, expensive and hard to locate as there was no clear communication from the hotel prior to our arrival. We almost gave up finding the property and headed to Tuscany early. Once inside, it is a beautiful, clean and an interesting experience. The front desk staff is all quite patient and wonderful. Their English in very good. The cleaning staff were over the top - in a great way! Beds were a little hard and Ikea-like yet bathrooms were divine and the common "library" where you can get coffee, see interesting art, and read cool books is extraordinary. Hearing the ancient bells from your room is a cool experience, too. It\'s perfect for a romantic getaway if you are flying into Genoa and your cab / Uber driver knows where to find it.

Je m'attendais à plus de standing pour un hôtel 4 étoiles. Coté extérieur il est peu visible près d'une église et uniquement de toutes petites ruelles (la vue des chambres est donc très réduite). il n'y a qu'un ascenseur pour 4 étages de chambres spacieuses. Les petits déjeuner sous forme de buffet sont gigantesques (mais si l'on a droit qu'à un seul jus d'orange pressé) au 5e et 2e etage. Les bons restaurants sont assez loin. Le métro le plus proche est place Ferrari (sans grand intérêt). Le personnel de l'hôtel ne parle que anglais ou italien.

Historic building brought to into the modern era in a tasteful and sympathetic way. The addition of a small bar within the hotel (perhaps added to the roof terrace) would add value to guests not wanting to venture far on an evening following a day of exploring.

Great hotel which is a former palace, right in the historical center of Genoa, steps from all the history. Breakfast is excellent - the best we had so far from many places: Sardinia, Madrid, Le Spezia.

Beautifully restored palazzo in the center of old town. From the lobby to the room to the other common areas, the feel, decor and design was stunning. Service was generally excellent as well. Great location from which to explore all the Old Town sites and get lost in the maze of alleys. Gran Ristoro, a phenomenal, tiny sandwich shop is a three-minute walk away and a must visit for foodies. There isn’t any parking in the Old Town, but there is convenient self-parking a few minutes walk away at the port. We would definitely choose Palazzo Grillo again if we return to Genoa.

A beautiful house, the interior is great. Staff is very helpful, and the room was fresh and quiet. There is a tuk tuk to help out if the parking is far away. That is the only problem since it’s in the historic area with vey narrow streets, you can’t come here by car. But so worth it! A big space for working, beautiful decorated. Breakfast was good.

Great hotel once you can find it - it’s in the heart of old town, which to no fault of the hotel, is difficult to get around on your first time. Amazing hotel - huge room, nice bathroom. Get the breakfast - great spread.

We loved the Palazzo Grillo. Yes, it is a registered UNESCO World Heritage site and a wonderfully restored hotel that seamlessly blends a palazzo built in 1545 with 21st-century conveniences. A superb breakfast on the top floor, a beautiful relaxation library on the second floor, and nicely placed in the old quarter of Genova, at the Piazza delle Vigne. Palazzo Grillo is located in the pedestrian zone of the town center, making access by car impossible. We enjoy walking, so the 5-minute walk with our luggage from the closest parking garage (Marina Porto Antico) to the town center was no problem. Be sure to follow the directions from the hotel. Certain taxis can take you close to the hotel, resulting in a shorter walk. The labyrinth of alleys in the old part of town is worth your trip--a cultural wonder. Expect excellent service from the staff.

What a beautiful place to stay, seeped in history, right in the heart of the old town. We had a fantastic time with friendly staff, a clean, comfortable, air conditioned room. Some of the smaller ally streets can feel a little unsafe but if you stick to the main ones it was great :)

El hotel muy bien, limpieza muy bien, pero para llegar al hotel y luego salir por la noche a cenar, no nos dieron confianza los a rededores, decidimos quedarnos por qué es el Centro, pero no sabíamos que era así. Pero bien en cuestión del hotel.

+ Ein wirklich schöner Palazzo, der sorgfältig und geschmackvoll renoviert wurde. + Mein Zimmer im 3. Stock gefiel mir gut - es war geräumig, sehr sauber und schlicht-modern eingerichtet. Das Wetter war in den Tagen meines Aufenthalts sehr drückend, weshalb ich um die Klimaanlage sehr froh war. + Bett und Bettwaren sind von guter Qualität, entsprechend ausgeruht bin ich morgens erwacht. + Kurze Gehdistanz zum Teatro Carlo Felice, für meinen Aufenthalt ideal (-) Die Originalfenster dämmen den Schall aus den Gassen und von der Piazza nur sehr bedingt. Da ich nicht besonders lärmempfindlich bin, habe ich die Geräuschkulisse unter Italianità abgebucht und mich von ihr in den Schlaf lullen lassen. (+) Das Frühstücksbuffet bietet eine schöne Auswahl an süssen und salzigen, kalten und warmen Speisen, ohne jedoch zu begeistern. Der Frühstücksservice war freundlich und aufmerksam. - Die Verbindung zum kostenlosen WLAN war zu meinem Zimmer (das hinterste im Flur) sehr instabil und taugte nicht, um damit arbeiten zu können. + Nach meiner Mitteilung wurde mir umgehend ein mobiler Router zur Verfügung gestellt, der perfekt funktionierte. - Beim Einchecken wurden die VIP-Vorzüge wie Sekt und kostenfreien late checkout mit keinem Wort erwähnt, und als ich nach late checkout fragte, sollten mir dafür 15€ in Rechnung gestellt werden. Es bedurfte meines Hinweises, dass die Rechnung korrigiert wurde.

Amazing property, fabulous location, excellent staff. Sadly, my (single) room was not much bigger and lighter than a broom closet. The biggest problem was the lack of any working desk and no electric outlet near the bed. However, i can imagine that if I was visiting for holidays, this wouldn’t be so much of an issue.

The lobby is beautiful with old fresco. Everything is organized and well taken care of. The breakfast is good. The room itself was average but had all the amenities needed. The location is conveniently located in the old town close to most of the attractions. All the stores are shut down after 7 pm except the restaurants so the streets in the area look abandoned. It's easy to get lost in the narrow streets which can be dark at night. I was a little nervous going out at night having to navigate the abandoned narrow alleys.

This was my favourite place we stayed at while in Italy. The building was stunning and historic, while the rooms were modernized. Breakfast was simply incredible and the staff was warm and friendly. Highly recommend!!!

We have booked the standard room but uplon arrival we realized that it was very basic on a level that needs more love to make it welcoming. We paid an additional 50 euros directly to the hotel for an upgrade for the Junior room which was nice. The breakfast is good and includes a wide selection of products.

Beautifully restored palazzo in the center of old town. From the lobby to the room to the other common areas, the feel, decor and design was stunning. Service was generally excellent as well. Great location from which to explore all the Old Town sites and get lost in the maze of alleys. Gran Ristoro, a phenomenal, tiny sandwich shop is a three-minute walk away and a must visit for foodies. There isn’t any parking in the Old Town, but there is convenient self-parking a few minutes walk away at the port. We would definitely choose Palazzo Grillo again if we return to Genoa.

Amei o hotel, muito charmoso, serviço ótimo, o quarto era bem equipado, e os espaços de convívio maravilhosos, destaque para a sala do segundo andar, era espetacular. Trabalhei do quarto em reuniões online sem nenhum problema, boa Internet. Vista muito linda para a Piazza della Vigne, perto de muitos restaurantes e bem localizado no Centro Storico, que é muito interessante e bonito.

The Palazzo Grillo is a beautiful hotel with first class service and accommodations. Our train to Ventimiglia was canceled due to a strike, but the person at the front desk was able to recommend some options and later arranged for a taxi to take us there. We very much appreciated their help. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Cet hôtel est absolument magnifique et extrement bien situé même si les rues adjacentes servent à la prostitution! Seulement on est loin d’un standing 4 étoiles. Le personnel est à l’image de la directrice froide sans empathie et loin à l’écoute et surtout au confort du séjour de leurs clients! Ici si vous n’achetez pas leur vin ou champagne on vous facture 5€ de la glace avec des verres à vins sales ! Alors que les réfrigérateurs Smeg en chambre ne refroidissent pas! Staff were very helpful. It would be nice if the directions stated that taxis can and should take you to Piazza Campetto. Our cab dropped us off several blocks away making it confusing and difficult to find the property. That was the fault of irresponsible taxi driver, but it would have helped to know we should have been dropped off at that Piazza.

We loved the Palazzo Grillo. Yes, it is a registered UNESCO World Heritage site and a wonderfully restored hotel that seamlessly blends a palazzo built in 1545 with 21st-century conveniences. A superb breakfast on the top floor, a beautiful relaxation library on the second floor, and nicely placed in the old quarter of Genova, at the Piazza delle Vigne. Palazzo Grillo is located in the pedestrian zone of the town center, making access by car impossible. We enjoy walking, so the 5-minute walk with our luggage from the closest parking garage (Marina Porto Antico) to the town center was no problem. Be sure to follow the directions from the hotel. Certain taxis can take you close to the hotel, resulting in a shorter walk. The labyrinth of alleys in the old part of town is worth your trip--a cultural wonder. Expect excellent service from the staff.

Staff were friendly and very helpful particularly all the girls at reception. Hotel is ideally placed in the centre of the old town with the only drawback that taxis can only get to the Piazza Competto which is 50 meters away so you have to wheel your luggage that 50m.

This is a lovely property although almost impossible to locate. GPS does not work properly in the inner city maze where it is located in Genoa and this property is tucked on a walkable only street within a street within an alley. There is no street access. Parking is very far away, expensive and hard to locate as there was no clear communication from the hotel prior to our arrival. We almost gave up finding the property and headed to Tuscany early. Once inside, it is a beautiful, clean and an interesting experience. The front desk staff is all quite patient and wonderful. Their English in very good. The cleaning staff were over the top - in a great way! Beds were a little hard and Ikea-like yet bathrooms were divine and the common "library" where you can get coffee, see interesting art, and read cool books is extraordinary. Hearing the ancient bells from your room is a cool experience, too. It\'s perfect for a romantic getaway if you are flying into Genoa and your cab / Uber driver knows where to find it.

What a beautiful place to stay, seeped in history, right in the heart of the old town. We had a fantastic time with friendly staff, a clean, comfortable, air conditioned room. Some of the smaller ally streets can feel a little unsafe but if you stick to the main ones it was great :)

The hotel is gorgeous and steeped in history. The staff were exceptionally accomodating. Lastly the breakfast starting each morning with a glass fresh squeezed blood orange juice was was a perfect start to each day of my trip. Highly recommend this place!

A lot of stairs to our room, awkward with luggage & if you had mobility issues. Small room for the $633 a night without taxes. The breakfast had few hot dishes, okay but coffee was never hot! Nice hotel but I'd choose to go someplace else in the future. Genoa is beautiful. The staff was very nice.

We loved the Palazzo Grillo. Yes, it is a registered UNESCO World Heritage site and a wonderfully restored hotel that seamlessly blends a palazzo built in 1545 with 21st-century conveniences. A superb breakfast on the top floor, a beautiful relaxation library on the second floor, and nicely placed in the old quarter of Genova, at the Piazza delle Vigne. Palazzo Grillo is located in the pedestrian zone of the town center, making access by car impossible. We enjoy walking, so the 5-minute walk with our luggage from the closest parking garage (Marina Porto Antico) to the town center was no problem. Be sure to follow the directions from the hotel. So…I’ll start with our first impressions. Taxi dropped us off from the train station down an alley saying he couldn’t take us to piazza campetto. He also charged us 25€ for the privilege. This is NOT the going rate. Went down to the dockside, first impression was it is unsafe and we were unsure about staying. After our first evening of feeling rather unsafe, the next day was completely different. Wandered round the area, went to the aquarium (brilliant) and wandered up to main square. Genoa is an Italian beauty. Our confidence did grow over the few days we were there and were glad we stayed. The hotel is placed in a lovely square and the bar is cute and very friendly. Take time to go in the church. Outstanding beauty! This is the most beautiful hotel and one that should be explored and appreciated. The hotel rooms are fine, air con not fantastic but loved we could put drinks on it to keep them cold. Colder than the fridge. Be careful in the bathroom, I had a spectacular fall getting out the shower, very slippy. Incredible staff, friendly and genuinely considerate. We stayed overnight in Milan and they contacted me out of concern as they acknowledged we hadn’t slept in the beds. This is rare and thoughtful. Explore the area, don’t feel scared, just protect yourself as you would anywhere. It’s a gorgeous part of Italy! I’d stay here again given the chance. Feel our initial fears hindered us to start with.
